In this revised edition of his best-selling book, formerly The Amazing Liver Cleanse, Andreas Moritz addresses the most common but rarely recognized cause of illness - gallstones congesting the liver. Twenty million Americans suffer from attacks of gallstones every year. In many cases, treatment merely consists of removing the gallbladder, at the cost of $5 billion a year. But this purely symptom-oriented approach does not eliminate the cause of the illness, and in many cases, sets the stage for even more serious conditions. Most adults living in the industrialized world, and especially those suffering a chronic illness such as heart disease, arthritis, MS, cancer, or diabetes, have hundreds if not thousands of gallstones (mainly clumps of hardened bile) blocking the bile ducts of their liver. This book provides a thorough understanding of what causes gallstones in the liver and gallbladder and why these stones can be held responsible for the most common diseases so prevalent in the world today. It provides the reader with the knowledge needed to recognize the stones and gives the necessary, do-it-yourself instructions to painlessly remove them in the comfort of one's home. It also gives practical guidelines on how to prevent new gallstones from being formed. The widespread success of The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush is a testimony to the power and effectiveness of the cleanse itself. The liver cleanse has led to extraordinary improvements in health and wellness among thousands of people who have already given themselves the precious gift of a strong, clean, revitalized liver. Andreas Moritz is a Medical Intuitive and practitioner of Ayurveda, Iridology, Shiatsu and Vibrational Medicine. I'm not much for the idea of cleanses, at least how they tend to personify themselves in western culture. However well-intentioned they are, more often than not they seem to be misguided embodiments of the idea that there is some "miracle" cure out there for what ails you, be it some zany diet consisting only of hog fat and radishes, or subsisting solely on lemon water and cayenne for two weeks in the name of bodily "strength". Compounding this notion is the fact that much of the cleansing literature out there seems heavily steeped in new-agey spiritual mumbo jumbo, if not outright motivated by it.
In many senses, this book seems to be no different. Though I make no claims to have a professional understanding of anatomy or physiology, I am nonetheless able to read a book such as this with a healthy amount of scientific skepticism, and indeed, under the scalpel of science, several parts in this book do not hold up to rational argument, and in some cases, seem downright misleading. (It's important to note that I am not attempting to argue against the veracity of this book's contents, merely its presentation.)
In many instances, the author makes dubious claims, presented as fact, without any source or reference material, e.g., the beneficial effects of drinking ionized water. At other times, Moritz seems to blur the line between causation and correlation, inviting the reader to draw fallacious conclusions that, of course, only support the thesis that this cleanse will solve all of your ailments. (A good example is in the very first chapter, where the author writes "If you suffer from the following symptoms, or similar conditions, you most likely have numerous gallstones in your liver and gallbladder:", followed by a list of sixty-some afflictions, including depression, hepatitis, nightmares, cancer and obesity. After reading this book, I'm fairly convinced that most everyone has numerous gallstones, unless they've done something to flush them out; Moritz comes dangerously close to leading the reader to believe that these symptoms are actually caused by the presence of gallstones, and therefore can be cured by their subsequent removal.)
All this said, if you approach this book with an open mind and an appropriate amount of caution, you can sift through the nonsense and repetition and see that, hey, this guy may actually be on to something. I, for one, was interested in this cleanse because I have certainly done more than my fair share of abuse to my liver, and thought it might be a good idea to do something nice for it after all it has done for me (I have no other major ailments to speak of.)
I finished my first cleanse just a few hours ago, and it's hard to argue with results. I most certainly did pass several stones just as the book suggested I would, and I feel fine (certainly no worse). I will probably continue doing this cleanse at least a few more times, as suggested; certainly there doesn't seem to be any harm in doing so, except for the minor inconvenience it requires.
Yeah. I liked the cleanse. But please, read the book and decide for yourself. And above all, don't believe everything you read; this world has enough pseudo-science in it already.
Since my children were born a few years ago I have struggled with some really annoying issues. I developed Rosacea which for those of you who don't know means my face is constantly red and irritated and I break out in sore itchy bumps that are not acne. I have also had about 20-25 lbs that refuses to go away for any length of time.
Iniatially for the rosacea I saw a doctor who recommended putting me on antibiotics. Not something I want to do for any length of time. And its doesnt cure the problem anyway. I have prowled Rosacea help sites trying any sort of supplement or cream that anyone had anything positive to say about it. Most recently what has worked pretty well is taking probiotics, Hcl with pepsin and B vitamins daily (digestive aids and stomach acid along with the vitamin I think my body has been missing). Of course, as soon as I stop or miss a day I start breaking out again. And I break out a little regardless. So when a couple friends started talking about this I thought maybe this could help. From some of the things I've read issues with the skin are suppose to indicate a liver problem. Okay, really I thought they were crazy and that the gallbladder cleanse had nothing to do with me, but the more I heard the more intriged I became.
I borrowed the book and read it in about 1 night. What he talked about just made sense. I summed it up for my husband as "If you had a car that the oil and fuel filters were completely full of gunk and fluids couldn't flow properly the car would eventually stop running and well that is your colon, liver and gallbladder in your body". Surprisingly he got on board as well. Now Mr. Moritz claims that this process can help cure everything from tooth decay to cancer. Not sure about that, but if the body is gummed up, it certainly makes sense that it cannot heal itself the way its meant to.
It takes about 6 days to set up for the cure. Drinking lots of apple juice, cranberry juice or whatever you can handle that has malic acid in it to soften the stones. The cleanse itself is done over night. Prepare to feel like crap for the night and tired the next day. I had a terrible headache and my husband actually had sweats. The next day he passed what he estimated as about 150 dime to nickel size stones (his father just has his gallbladder removed so I was thrilled that he had success and might stave off that issue). I had much smaller ones, sand or rice size and wasnt even sure that I had much success. The following day we both felt better, lots more energy and less aches and pains. I notices right away that my skin all over was no longer dry and seemed smoother. Then as I was doing laundry I realised that I could read the tags on my kids pj's and underwear. Something I have not been able to do for at least a year! This was not something I was even looking for! I highly recommend anyone have a look at this and see for themselves if it makes sense to them.
This book is well written enough that I overlooked the poor editing and formatting.
This book is all about how to do a liver and gallbladder cleanse, which every conscientious cancer patient is recommended to do (as well as anyone with chronic disease). I wish very much I had known about this vital information 20 years ago when I was pushed by a surgeon to have my gallbladder removed. I could have saved myself the trauma and expense, because this cleanse works! Boy, does it.
The first cleanse I did my body released over 200 gallstones, and the second cleanse very close to that same amount. The instructions are to continue doing the cleanse, no sooner than every three weeks, until there are no more stones being released. Thereafter for maintaining a cleansed liver, you do it every six months.
It is easy to recognize a gallstone, because they range in color from light yellow, to deep yellow, to light green, to dark green, and they float. You can easily find medical pictures of gallstones on the Internet so you will know what to look for, which is what I did prior to the cleanse.
This cleanse is very easy to do. I experienced no ill effects of any kind. Mr. Moritz recommends doing an enema, or at best a professional colon hydrotherapy session, the day before and the day after performing a liver flush to amplify the cleansing effects. However, the magnesium in the Epsom salts that you take for the cleanse act to draw quantities of water into the intestines, from top to bottom, so that also acts to flush out your entire bowels, and not just the colon, which is what an enema or colon hydrotherapy do.
Cleaning what is dirty or clogged only makes sense. We don't even think twice about questioning whether we should wash our hands if they get sewage on them. If we have any kind of filth on the outside of our bodies, most of us do whatever we can to get it off as soon as possible. We don't often think of what filth is lurking in the folds of our inner tissues because we can't see it and we don't know how to read the signs of it as they show themselves on our body's surface.
At any rate, we all ought to really consider the inner hygiene along with the outer. Some could argue that it is perhaps more important than the outer.
Do you want to try a good experiment? Get a typical fast food meal or any of your typical meals and mix it up into a pot on the stove. Add a bit of water and turn the heat on low. Let it sit like this for a few hours maybe a stir here and there. This approximates what is going on INSIDE your body in the digestive tract.
Now after 8 - 24 hours take it off the stove and try to clean the caked on food which is clinging to the pot. How will you get it clean without scrubbing? Really, consider this.
This is what we put our body through when we eat junk, don't hydrate well, and don't eat vegetables (fiber) to help scrub up afterwards. And if bile flow is impeded, imagine trying to clean that pot with little to no soap. You'd have to let it soak in warm water and flush it multiple times.
Not to mention that we throw more food in the pot before it ever gets properly cleaned... So we have layer upon layer of this stuff inside us. In our digestive tract, backing up into the circulatory system, and then into the organs.
Tell me, how you gonna wash dishes when you got no soap? If the dishwasher quits, how long can a restaurant stay in business before the Health Inspector (bad bacteria) comes to raise hell?
Better to flush out the system and start new and clean again.
The gallbladder flush is a folk remedy said to promote the passage of gallstones. The ‘flush’ typically involves fasting for 12 hours and then drinking a large amount of olive oil and lemon juice. Usually, a laxative and/or enema is also used. This produces diarrhoea, abdominal pain and the passage of multiple green, brown, yellow or black spheres which resemble gallstones. However, analysis shows that these hardened blobs are not stones, but bile-stained ‘soaps’ produced by an interaction between the ingested oil and other ingredients of the flush. They are often produced in quantities far greater than could be stored in a gallbladder and could be told apart from real stones because the ‘soap’ blobs: • are soft, waxy or gelatinous whilst real gallstones are either hard or dry and crumbly in texture • float on toilet water as they are largely composed of oil, whereas genuine gallstones would sink • do not have the sharp facets produced when real gallstones rub against each other in the gallbladder • can be cut cleanly with a knife (unlike real gallstones) and often have bright green translucency that is never seen with real stones • disintegrate over time unless frozen, whereas gallstones are stable. There is no scientific evidence that the gallbladder flush works, and it may in fact be harmful. Even if the large amount of oil did promote ejection of a small gallstone into the cystic duct and out into the bile duct, this would be immensely painful and debilitating and would probably involve admission to hospital for investigations and pain relief
This cleanse has worked (several times) wonders for my sister. Simply fascinating. Surgery isn’t always the “only” option. Great format, highly informative and an easy-to-follow guide.
I like the notion that it's healthy to want to be healthy, and the liver cleanse is one way to actively pursue good health. I'm going on my third cleanse this week, and although I haven't had great results with the first two cleanses, I'm definitely trying again. The colonic irrigation afterward was helpful, and I can do better at sticking to the recommended diet leading up to the cleanse. The skin on my hands is healthier now, not drying and cracking nearly as much. Also, I've lost weight after starting to eat a vegetarian diet. And the sleep quality is improved. UPDATE After six cleanses I've learned to stay hydrated for this to work well. Apple juice has a diuretic effect, and eating bananas helps to keep hydrated. Also adding a pinch of sea salt to the water helps for hydration. The one time I had a colonic irrigation before and after the cleanse I had the best results not only in terms of cholesterol pellets released but also in terms of feeling relaxed without feeling lethargic. The skin cracking on my hands seems to be a thing of the past, and age (liver) spots on my hand are fainter than they used to be. Also it's helped me that I started using sesame and other essential oils on my skin. Continuing with vegetarian diet more often than not, as often as possible, and looking for age spots on face to fade away. Also hoping the varicose veins will return to regular veins. Maybe even the scoliosis will go away.
Look, I know why you're here. You've heard that somewhere way up in your digestive tract, your body is producing little green marbles, and you want to see what they look like. This book will tell you how to do that.
That's right, you have gallstones. Everybody has gallstones. Little itty bitty gallstones in most cases but they're there, and with the specialized application of diet you can pop those lil' suckers out of there. I tried it, it worked, ymmv.
The book unfortunately has too much new-age nonsense about the writing and presentation and will put off more scientifically-minded types, but if you examine and test the claims in this book I feel certain you will be impressed.
A Must Read for Every Person Interested On Taking A Steady Step On Their Own Health
A Must Read for Every Person Interested On Taking A Steady Step On taking care of Their Own Health. Very simple and complete work and study on the process on becoming a healthy person and understanding how our body works. Every person should read this book . I like to thank the doctor and author for sharing his knowledge and simple wisdom and his commitment.
Very informative book — a liver and gallbladder cleanse would probably benefit most people. You may want to skim over the first section that talks about the various health issues that can be attributed to liver stones and gallstones. If you have a particular issue, read that section, otherwise it can be safe to say that most illnesses have some connection to these stones. The book has easy to follow instructions on doing a cleanse. Plus there is a section on preventing getting stones. Proper hydration is one of the keys. #KangenWisconsin #KangenWater
This is a must-read for everyone!! The liver is responsible for cleansing our bodies from all toxins. Western diets generally promote build-up in our livers which show up on the outside of our bodies as aches, pains, and diseases. When we remove the toxic build-up from the liver, we restore the body's natural ability to remove toxins and fight infections and disease. It's such a simple concept, and a simple solution. I haven't done the cleanse yet, but in just applying a few simple techniques I've already flushed out about 300 cholesterol stones from my liver. I look forward to flushing out much more very soon!
Update: As of today (1/31/19), I’ve completed 19 liver cleanses since I read this book. Almost all of them have been very successful, flushing out many liver stones. It’s not a fun process, and sometimes I end up throwing up one of the Epsom salt flushes or the grapefruit and oil mixture. Still, the results have been good, and my body feels so much better later.
Before this last cleanse, I was feeling bad for several weeks, and could tell my body needed a liver flush. When I checked, it had been 11 months since I’d completed the last one. I couldn’t believe it had been that long already. Since the cleanse, my body has felt so much better! The book recommends a maintenance cleanse (once you’ve gone through and gotten rid of the current stones) every six months, and from my own experience I think that’s a great idea.
Note: I am not a medical professional. This review is based solely on my personal experiences.
The book is positively, absolutely a must read for every family/person you know. Its bar none one of the most informative books on health and detox i have ever read. Not only is it a wealth of necessary knowledge but it absolutely delivers. Skeptics apply yourselves and get ready to regain your health and wellness!
lots of interesting concepts here. not sure that i believe them all, but if it can address my major health concerns (not that they are acute at this point, mostly about prevention for a healthy future life), then following this will be worthwhile. having already done a cleanse and not felt that it was a large imposition on my lifestyle, i'm willing to give it a few more go's and see what happens.
Jesus where do I start. I saw a YouTube video that referenced this book and wasn't linking to it so there was no money to be made. The video showed what appeared to be gallstones in the toilet after the person had peed. All seemed legit so I bought the book. It had 4/5 stars on Amazon. I'm going through it and I'm realizing the author is making a poor attempt to make it seem like this will not only cure your gall stones but cancer and all diseases! Literally never buy another alternative health book because this guy has solved everything. Wow what a great deal. *Read some more* ok wait why is the first chapter of the book over a hundred pages but then chapter two is only ten pages. What!? Red flag. Ok, reading some more now this guy is going on about mercury in the vaccines. Hey I'm all for a good conspiracy story but this was supposed to be about gallstones. Totally deviated from the main idea. At this point he's just repeating the same thing about how this is going to cure all diseases over and over again. I realise this is a waste of time so I try to find the actual recipe which is coincidentally all the way at the back of the book like four hundred pages in. The recipe looks really simple ok, but wait then he starts pointing out that some people are saying it's just oil soap and that he's been criticised by organizations looking to debunk fraudsters. Low and behold I found out people are saying you can mix those ingredients in a cup and get the same result. What's even bigger news is the author is deceased. I noticed someone on Amazon reviews joined the facebook group for this book. I guess the family runs the publishing now? This person asks what did he pass away from, instantly gets blocked from the facebook group. So now I know this all bs but what's concerning is that the mixture might actually be dangerous. Maybe the author died from the mixture he recommended to his readers? Overall I feel bad for the guy. He didn't need to write out a 400 page book to scam people I just think the guy had issues. I'm sure as hell not drinking that mixture regardless. May he rest in peace.
This book will change your life, if you are willing to proactively treat your engine. The organs have a lifespan, and the liver has over 500 functions; so, the importance of cleaning the liver is vital to optimal health. This is an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone that has a history of cleansing, and a desire for overhauling the engine.
I've just completed my fourth flush and am astonished at the results. The three earlier flushes yielded ok results, but my fourth was the first jackpot. I felt completely rejuvenated after each flush -after my fourth, I am experiencing energy and positivity that I have never felt before- I have high expectations for my next flush.
In my life I have abused alcohol and have consumed my share of sweets and animal based fats. I wanted to complete the flush after my acupuncturist mentioned all my illnesses (physical and mental) were directly related to my liver.
I finished reading this book in about two weeks. Andreas discusses many aspects of what makes a person healthy. His findings are, of course, the opposite of what mainstream medicine would tell you. According to him, for example, mainstream medicine wants to remove your gallbladder and put you on blood pressure medication, two things that ultimately cause more harm to the body.
This has been a bible for me, every month I give myself a refresher read, following the dietary and flush guidelines to a T. As the liver is able to take a rest, it can release those stored toxins back into the body, making for a rough week in addition to the challenging light fast (which is actually very simple - calling to avoid all oils and fats). On the 6th day, epsom salt mixtures along with a concoction of olive oil and grapefruit juice are consumed. The epsom salts relax the colon, then the olive oil causes the gallbladder to contract, filling the liver with excess bile, which then push stones (now softened from a week of consuming malic acid) through the ducts, and out through the relaxed intestines & rectum.
Amazing. He is very clear in his directions and you should not do a liver flush without reading this book. He likens this procedure to a surgery, and you my friend, are your own surgeon. I found it helpful to work with a professional colon hydrotherapist who offered me insight and support during my first few flushes.
If you are considering doing a liver flush you owe it to yourself to read this book. For your own safety, to help understand your body, to be responsible and to not have a night of pain, this book must be read before you jump into it. If you can commit to ten flushes in a year, your body will undoubtedly begin to truly heal.
I’ve given this book three stars because the cleanse described in the book is apparently so valuable. It cleanses out gallstones in the liver, which Moritz states are a cause of all chronic diseases.
It is a simple cleanse with apple juice and Epsom salts. The only thing is he refers to the need for having colonic irrigation also prior to the cleanse. You can probably find a therapist on the net who will do this irrigation for you, but I’m wary of this because I have previously had Crohn’s and they usually decline to do it for Crohn’s patients; the doctors now say I no longer have Crohn’s but probably have microscopic colitis, but I don’t know how much difference there is between the two.
I have a friend who did the cleanse according to the book with no preceding colonic irrigation, but I don’t fancy getting gallstones stuck on the way out so would prefer to have the irrigation, if possible.
Also, I haven’t done the cleanse because I didn’t manage to get through the book. This was due to the, for me, extremely abstruse technico-medical language/ boring, specialized descriptions of what takes place in the body. I think one would have to be a doctor, nurse or the like to properly understand the descriptions. I couldn’t.
Moritz warns against operations to remove the gallbladder since these are risky and do not solve the problem of stones stuck in the liver bile ducts.
I previously read and reviewed the author’s excellent book about healing Alzheimer’s disease, and have trust in his medical expertise.
The book contains some readers’ accounts of their cleanses, including how many gallstones they passed. There is also a chapter providing answers to frequently asked questions.
This cleanse should be done not just once, but several times. I may buy the book later and do the cleanse, but again I may not.
I would recommend the book to all those interested in carrying out such a cleanse who are not averse to Moritz’s long, boring, difficult explanations, or who have some medical background by which to aid comprehension.
P.S. After having read Anthony WILLIAM'S Liver Rescue I would recommend that book instead. Also, Anthony warns against drastic cleanses.
Changing my life for the better thanks to Anas Moritz! He has helped me become really wholesome and healthy because of his books.
As I write this I just yesterday started my first liver flush. The Epsom Salt flush I started a couple weeks ago came out of this book and my legs are excreting lots of toxins. They are super-itchy and covered in low-grade rashes everywhere. Can't wait to see what the actual Liver flush gets out of me!
Hooray for health and longevity! Hooray for The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush!
I think cleanses are great for the body, but this one just seemed to me to be a bit too far "out there" for me. All I can say is, "Eww." I know there are certain diets that eliminate many "toxic" foods and that was more what I was looking for. This is slightly more New Age-y and a little too intense as well as gross... Thanks for the info, but no thanks.
I’ve done this cleanse numerous times about a decade ago and decided recently that I should do them again. After rereading the book, I realized that many of Andrea Moritz’s claims are slightly misleading; do I think that this cleanse will solve obesity or rid you of nightmares…. Of course not, Moritz does lead you to this conclusion without outright saying it.
The cleanse however is effective and you will certainly see results doing it, just as the author states. You will have 100s-1000s of stones eliminated of the course of the cleans. So buckle up, it’s going to be a “stony” road (see what I did there 😋)
Extremely well laid out biological information in the first chapter about the influences of gallstones. And also the cleanse is pure miraculous. I have eliminated at least a few hundred stones on the first 2 cleanses (more following)
I was a bit worried about the skeptics writing here about the stones being "oil soap stones" but the author addresses this exact question. It's clear that these people are shackled by ignorance and i highly recommend them to open up and try the cleanse to feel the benefits. People should open more towards feelings, instead of judging, thinking and talking about thoughts.
Okay- to be honest, I was looking (hoping) for an alternative to the classic oil liver cleanse in this book. No such luck, but Moritz really does a fantastic job explaining the role of the liver/gallbladder/bile in health (and illness) as well as how exactly this detox helps. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and finally give this detox a try. Perhaps I'll update with my results. Great read, highly recommended!
S-U-P-E-R quacky. (*He lost my respect when he dedicated a whole section to how great Donald Trump is for being an anti-vaxxer).
I definitely read a lot of this with one eyebrow raised.
But- I'm going to do the liver cleanse (I've had a bad liver since I had a complicated pregnancy 12 years ago) and I'm desperate to try anything. So I only took the cleanse part of this book with any kind of seriousness.
Here's the cleanse to save you the headache of reading the weird stuff:
For 6 days drink 32 oz of organic apple juice each day and eat a vegan/healthy vegetarian diet
On day 6: drink all 32oz of apple juice in the morning. No protein foods at all. Stop all foods by 1:30pm
Mix 4 tbsp of Epsom salt in 24oz of water and portion into 4 servings
6pm: drink first serving
8pm: drink second serving
9:45pm: mix 6oz of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice with 4oz of pure organic extra virgin olive oil. Drink whole thing and then immediately lay down with head higher than shoulders.
Go to sleep but don't lay on stomach
6:30am: drink warm water
6:45am: take 3rd serving of Epsom salt
8am: take 4th serving of Epsom salt
10am: drink fresh fruit juice and a half hour later eat fresh fruit and very light meals.
Do every month until there are no stones in your poop.
