Three hot hockey players to take me on dates.

This is my sister’s recipe to help me rebound from a broken heart.

The kicker? She bought those dates for me at an auction.

There’s the left winger playboy prince, followed everywhere by gaggles of adoring puck bunnies.

The scholarship goaltender who has as much ambition as he has muscles.

The friendly enforcer, scary on the ice but the life of the party outside the rink.

These elite athletes are hot and very competitive and I’m the new prize they’re determined to win.

I’m caught in a whirlwind of hot dates as it becomes clear that the stakes are much higher than just their pride.

I’m no puck bunny and I call the shots in this game.

Can I even choose just one?

The beginning of the season is around the corner and the fight is on for a place in the draft and for a shot at my heart.

Attention: this is the first book of a whychoose hockey college romance duet and ends in a cliffhanger. The heroine won’t have to choose between her different love interests. This story has hot athletes and scenes and it’s intended for readers 18+.

I don’t understand how this book is so highly rated?! For having so many points of views there’s hardly any plot. Stuff that would matter for character development happens completely offscreen and is just mentioned in one or two sentences of internal monologue. This book is just a bunch of filler chapters with a couple of spicy scenes thrown in and to round it all off it’s over 300 pages and ends in a cliffhanger. I definitely won’t be reading.

I swear I just finished this and it feels like a fucking fever dream. Honestly could have DNFd it but I was so curious but then the ending? I will not be subjecting myself to a second book. Curiosity might kill a cat, but not me.

Absolutely love this book

I was so excited when I saw this book was going to be written, and once I started reading it, I did a happy dance. This book is about Lakyn and how her twin sister just wants to help her out after a bad breakup.
Enter Cash, Blaze, and Luca....very different men, and yet somehow just what Lake needs. I absolutely adore Lake and her sister Bay. These two ladies are amazing.
The storyline will draw you in, and then getting a glimpse into each of the characters is perfection. I had such a hard time putting it down.
I can't wait to see what happens next, because that ending? Have a feeling it's gonna be good

At times it felt like there was waaaay to much description work and build up than there needed to be, at times it felt wattpad like. It didn’t feel like the story really kicked off until 75% of the way in and then it was full steam ahead and over too quickly.

Now I want to read the next book in the series because I want the actual story I was hoping for in this one 🙃

Melissa Adams knows how to write an excellent addictive reverse harem romance, and when I learned she was writing her first ever ice hockey romance, I was impatient to read it. This book does not disappoint!

Surprise dates, meddling twin sister, three drop-dead, handsome hockey players, and lots of smutty goodness.

The chemistry between Lakyn and all three guys was smoking hot! I read this book so quickly, and I'm left desperate for the final part in this duet.

Cash, Blaze, and Luca are to die for! Each of these guys will prove to you why one book boyfriend isn't enough. Why have one, when you can have all three?!

I implore all lovers of ice hockey romance to run, not walk to go and get a copy of this book!

Holy cow!!!!

This book was amazing...was hooked from the beginning

This was my first book from Melissa Adams plus my first hockey read, and I was so impressed.

We follow Lake after her first boyfriend after three years broke off their long distance relationship. Yet her sister(Bay) will not let Lake sit around and be sad about her ex. So at a school auction Bay buys three dates for Lake to get her jumping into the dating world: Cash, Balze, and Luca.

We follow Lake as she goes on all three dates and gets to experience what dating can be like when your with someone whom WANTS you.

Never a dull moment and I was so please with the chemistry between Lake and all three men!!!
I am totally hooked and cannot wait for the second book. Thank you Melissa for letting us into Lakes world.

I love everything about this book! Lakyn and the guys! Pure genius! I love the whole Bay buying her the fates at the auction! And I now have a great guess who the pic is from! Lol loved that... the cliffhanger was very well done! I love the whole twin sense of that Bay has! And the next book is going to be so amazing! I loved each of her guys! Prince Luca, Cash and Blaze! So hot each in their own way! And I agree with Bay that Topher is a jerk! Can't recommend this one enough!

The Auction: Not Your Pucking Bunny, a RH College Hockey Romance by Melissa Adams is the first part of the duet. We meet Lakyn - a smart, hard working FMC who has just been dumped by her first boyfriend. Her twin sister bids on three hockey players at the college auction so Lakyn can get back in the saddle and go on a couple dates. Cash, Luca, and Blaze are all hot hockey players and have puck bunnies around every corner. Cute story. I liked watching the guys swoon over the sweet Lakyn. Looking forward to what happens next. Topher is a real jerk. Hopefully Bay gets rid of him!

I couldn’t put this book down! It was so good! I love that Cash, Blaze and Luca are all so different from each other, but close enough that there is a sense of “brotherhood”. I hope that connection can stay throughout the next book too! I also think Lakyn is spot-on with her assessment of Topher and I hope Bay comes to the same realization. I can’t wait to read what happens next!

DNF at 14%

The writing was just not good and kind of basic and there was absolutely zero chemistry between the two characters during the first date. Also the dialogue both inner and outer was so cringe.

I loved this story so much, and I cannot wait for part 2! I loved the characters...even the characters you love to hate! Lakyn is finally coming into her own after being part of a very one-sided relationship with her high school boyfriend. The guys are all great but are so different from one another. I can't wait to see where their relationship goes in book 2.

This is another exceptional story from Melissa Adams. If The Heartbreakers made you swoon then be ready for the hockey gods, Cash, Blaze and Luca. All sweet, hot, and amazing; they make you want to take them all home. And Lakelyn is an FMC you can relate to. While still innocent in her Junior yr of college she isn't your typical innocent and naive FMC. She is smart, funny and takes no stuff. She calls it like she sees it and the guys are all impressed with her.

You can absolutely relate to the inner turmoil and questions they all battle. It makes them even more realistic. I am ready to see how this all plays out in book 2.

This was objectively just ... not good. A very shallow sorority girl buys dates for her twin sister to get her out of a funk after being dumped by her piece of shit ex. The FMC (the twin sister aka Lakyn) states throughout the book that her sister (Bay) isn't vapid or shallow and there's more to her than meets the eye. However, there really isn't evidence to support that Bay is anything but shallow or vapid for the entire book. Lake ends up going on all three of the dates and ends up being super conflicted about who to choose.
Here's the thing though. These guys are all major douchebags. They all sleep around constantly and are very vocal and almost proud about it. I mean, they even mention how much they sleep around while they're on their fucking dates with Lakyn. And she's totally fine with it? And apparently has gotten over her shite ex, because she wants to sleep with all of them on their first dates. The guys I guess are deeper than they appear, but they seriously suck initially. They're all only thinking of their dicks at first and specifically point out that they're interested in fucking Lakyn and how hot she is. They realize that there's "something different about her" and THEN are interested in not being complete douche fucks. And yes, Lakyn gives off major "I'm not like otttthhhher girls" vibes.

The book ends with a fucking dumb ultimatum that the guys could definitely say no to, but are entertaining. It's a duet series, which I did not realize when I started. And for some unfathomable reason, I downloaded the next book because I need to see how it ends. Good Lord. There's definitely something wrong with me. This wasn't good and I only liked it a fractional amount. I guess you could try it and be as frustrated as me?

The Auction: Not Your Puck Bunny is the first book in a new duet by Melissa Adams. This is a contemporary romance.

💜 heartbroken FMC
💜 hockey players
💜 twins
💜 college setting
💜 why choose
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

Lakyn (Lake to those who are close to her) is a junior at Star Cove College. She’s working her shift at the library, being thankful she couldn’t go to the auction for dates with the hockey team, while also wallowing in her sorrow after her ex broke up with her. Little does she know that her sister not only went to the auction, but bid and won dates with three different guys. What will she do? Will she be able to go through on the dates with these guys? If she goes, will they help her get over the ex?

This was a fun why choose romance. I like how all four characters were able to express their thoughts and perspectives on the situation. I also like that there are other little conflicts going on as well that brings more depth to the overall storyline. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the next book.

This book was legitimately terrible. I should’ve DNF’d it but it turned into a hate-read. The story was fine but the writing is what was truly atrocious. This is just a Wattpad story masquerading as a book.

Actual rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️.5

What is it with getting sucked into Hockey Romances these days? Add in the fact it was a why choose/reverse harem, and you're ticking some major boxes for me.

Did I just read this book in a mere few hours? You bet! I enjoyed Lake's story, seeing her grow as a character and defining who she is with new experiences. I also loved that she wasn't a pushover of a character, standing up for herself when necessary and not letting dicks *cough*Topher*cough* walk all over her.

The boys were all unique in their traits, and I can see how they'd work well together as a whole should the full poly relationship form. Blaze would have to be a frontrunner for me - who doesn't love an athlete who has a sweet, non-typically male side to him?
Also, the throwaway addition of Adams' previous works in this was nice, but

In saying that, there is a part of me that felt the backstory with Luca was resolved almost too quickly; more of a throwaway to add in extra word-count than to actually progress the story, hence the slight deduction in rating. Though I do hope this does get touched on in book 2. And adding to this, Lake just accepting Cash's explanation for practically ghosting her? IDK, she did seem a bit quick to forgive there.

There's also something niggling me about how the boys are all acting, given they all knew each other had a date with Lake - it's almost as if the three don't live in the same house together, train together, see each other most of the waking day... I don't know if I'm reading too much into it, though.

I really want to know if there is something more going on behind the scenes with Topher - aka, douchebag supreme. It's not often that I say I near hate a character, but he's definitely in the running for some hatred. Jerk. Also, secretly hoping down the track Bay might get her own series. I feel there is so much that could be worked with there.

Overall, a fun, quick read, and cannot wait for the next instalment.

We start with the Dean auctioning off members of the Gamma Delta Tau along with many students including the hockey team, football team, swim team and even the college skydiving team all in a good cause for charity. I really felt like I was in that room, along with Bay Woods, who bid on three of the hottest hockey players in the room. Cash Hanbury, Blaze Dunn, and Luca Leighton Rossi. And I loved their reaction when they were totally confused as to why Bay wood would do such a thing. I loved Bays' characters and thought she was a funny fiesty outgoing spirit and would do anything for her twin sister, including buying her three dates from the auction.
This is when we meet Lakyn Bays twin sister, who's totally different from her sister and needs cheering up after resantly being dumbed by her boyfriend. So Bay sets out to cheer Lakyn up and teach her that you can't judge someone till you get to know them. I loved Lakyn character and at first she was more reserved and some would even think she was boring like Topher, Bays boyfriend who I think is going to cause so mush trouble and I really don't know what Bay sees in him. But slowly, Lakyn opens up, and I love how mush she grows throughout the story and opens up to Cash , Blaze, and Luca as she gose on eash date with them. I found Cash so sweet and nothing like what he's like with the other girls including the Puck bunny's who will do anything to be with a hockey player along with Blaze whos a bit more cocky but when it comes to Lakyn is a totally different person and Luca who's the prince of the team and loves how down to earth and refreshing from the other girls who normally hang around him. Like Bianca, who is stuck up and is only interested in herself. And I feel like she might be another one to watch throughout the story. This story definitely gets hot hot hot if you know what I mean. And I think Luca might be my favourite so far. Especially how thoughtful he's been and how he likes to call her Bella. I loved the hockey theme to the story, and I really felt like I was with Lakyn as she cheered her guys on. But as always, Melissa is good at creating drama and having us guessing what will happen next and who will be made caption.

RH with Hockey hotties, sign me up!!

I went into this book really excited because I feel like I have read 100’s of hockey romance books and this one has an interesting spin on it. 3 dates bought for a charity auction for the FMC by her twin sister, you don’t see that everyday. Lakyn just got out of a 3 year relationship with a long distance boyfriend she got together with her senior year in high school. She’s devastated and blindsided by the breakup so her sister Bay decides to set her up with 3 of the hottest hockey players at Star Cove College.

Cash, Blaze, and Luca are so sweet and go into these dates knowing that Lake was heartbroken and that her sister just wants them to show her a good time and that dating is fun and exciting and a complete 360 to what she was doing with her ex boyfriend. I was surprised Lakyn was so outgoing and ready to mingle considering her reluctance to even go on these dates. It was almost like an insta connection with her and the guys which was nice. It’s a different dynamic with the guys then a normal RH as well. Normally they are best friends or related or something like that, but these guys are only teammates/frat brothers so it was a weird disconnect for me. It’s multiple POV so you get all the perspectives, which I always like, but it also made it harder for me to connect with some of the guys due to them not actually being close if that makes sense. Cash was front and center in the beginning and appeared at the end, but was nonexistent in the rest of the book. I also felt like the inner dialogue was on the heavy side which gave us a lot of filler but no substance. I enjoyed the book a lot, and I would read the next one to see how things play out with her and the guys. I also would love to know if Bay comes to her senses about her idiot boyfriend Topher as well.

This is the first book in a duet and ends on a cliffhanger

Lakyn Woods and her twin sister Bay are students at Ivy League Star Cove College.  They may be identical twins, but that is where their similarities end. Bay is outgoing and president of her sorority.  Lake works at the library, studying Library sciences and recently broke up with her boyfriend.  When the college decides to auction off dates with the hockey players to raise money for a new rink, Bay jumps at the opportunity to force her sister to get back into dating.  She buys three dates for Lake - Cash Hanbury (Goalie), Blaze Dunne (Enforcer), and Luca Leighton-Rossi (Left wing and literal prince.)

Lake reluctantly agrees to go on the three dates, and she starts to realize that maybe her assumptions about the guys were wrong. As she starts to develop feelings for all three of them, how is she going to choose?

"Don't judge a book by its cover, Lakyn. As a future librarian, you should know that."

This was a really fun RH Hockey Romance.  First off, Bay and Lake are hilarious twins.  I loved seeing their sister bond, and even though they get on each other's nerves, they clearly love each other very much. Bay is hilarious and her one liners had me laughing out loud. Lake was struggling after being in a toxic relationship and I really liked seeing her gain confidence and start to feel better about herself.

Cash, Blaze, and Luca couldn't be more different, and I really liked how they each fulfilled something that Lake needed in her life. Cash and Lake's date to the pier was very sweet and I had to laugh at their run in with the fortune teller.  I love that Blaze is a total bookworm and reads romance novels. Luca may be a playboy prince but he was so incredibly caring and sweet.  This ends on a terrible cliffhanger!

Hockey is not something I'm familiar with but I'm willing to learn! I really enjoyed this; Lakyn is such a believable FMC and I connected with her straight away. From the accidental Instagram like to some of her awkward reactions to the guys she is just so genuine. I really want to know what Jon's problem was; I hope we find out before the end of the series. He totally needs to suffer for a bit!

The guys are all different but not the usual why choose stereotypes. I normally have a clear favourite (same guy, different font) in these type of romances but like Lakyn, couldnt pick! Cash is currently breaking my heart with his reasons at the hotel, Blaze wanting to be more than the hot head everyone expects him to be and Luca who may be the sweetest of the lot.

Topher though? He's just gross. I am getting seriously bad vibes from him (I don't believe that spin on how Bay and he got together one bit) and hope he and Bianca disappear off somewhere. I do not trust him one inch and I hate that his teammates have been hiding behind brotherhood and letting him off with murder. Come and get your girl Cole!

However, I quite like that he's the antagonist rather than a mean girl which is refreshing. Especially with that ending; I didn't see it coming and I'm really hoping the guys loop Lakyn in sooner rather than later.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely and I have added all the authors works to my TBR!

Why? Oh, why do they always have to play the stereotype of the typical "I'm not like other girls"?

Yes, I understood that she's not like other girls. I understood that she is a unique and special unicorn who doesn't seek money or status like other women and that she doesn't have money like the "other" girls in that college and that makes her super special. Yes, I got it, I don't need you to repeat it to me every 2 paragraphs.

And the fact that they always try to ridicule women in this kind of books (I mean sports books) has me fed up. What's the need to put "her squeaky voice" when you talk to other women who are not the main characters?

Because sure, all the other women talk like babies or little girls when dating a man, except for our unique and special unicorn who is so different because she's the only woman on the planet who doesn't seek his approval.

I wanted to give her a chance despite everything I just mentioned above, but there comes a point where you just say enough is enough. I didn't even finish the book and I can bet you anything that the rest of the story will also have moments where guys will keep naming the many different qualities that are in her. And I bet there will be comments about her virginity later on or that after her first time of sex she will suddenly become a sexual goddess in bed and I also bet there will be mean girls attacking Lake for dating the most popular guys in college. I bet you Lake will mention over and over again that she doesn't understand why they decided to notice her and blah blah blah. So predictable. It's these kinds of books.

So DNF. Goodbye. I can't deal with this shit.

This book started out exactly how I wanted it to start. After the first chapter I was really getting into this. Had a plotline I was really enjoying and characters that stood out on their own for individual reasons. I thought that I had found another hockey series that I could really get into. A sister bidding on three hockey players for dates with her twin sister. A why choose series. Something that I thought I would really like reading.

You have the MFC Lakyn and the three MMC's. Cash, Luca & Blaze. I liked Cash pretty much from the beginning and you see some of Blaze and Luca at times before their date. Blaze is meant to be the enforcer on the ice and party guy off it. But as soon as he is on his date with Lakyn it's like his whole persona just vanishes and becomes a puppy dog. I mean, what the hell.

I understand that each have their own individual personalities but it's like they all completely change and all felt kinda similar in emotions like copy and paste. The spice scenes were okay. But overall it felt kinda immature at times and I was really disappointed because I was curious to know at the beginning how this series was going to end.

But now I'm not sure I will read the next one. I am curious to know who she chooses but I think I'll end up scrolling through the other reviews for spoilers to figure it out. Or maybe later I might come back and try the second book to see if it picks up more and my review/star rating might change. But as of right now it's a no from me. So it gets a two star from me. 1 for Bay and 1 for Cash.

OMG 😱 THIS BOOK WAS FRICKEN AMAZING!!!! I literally couldn’t put it down, I love the plot of the book, I love how well written rd the book was. But most of all I loved the characters and how easy it was to relate to our heroine. I can’t wait to read more from this amazing author. Also remember if you’re not 18 please don’t read this book. Not a real why choose... yet.

So the stage is set. Literally, the guys are all dates from an auction for charity.

Bay and Lake are twin sisters but polar opposites. Bay is with a terrible bf (I'm sorry, I see no good qualities in Topher like I get he's the conflict/ villain, but for real, why? Like the hockey stunt was terrible)
Lake gets dumped by a cheating ex who was saving himself for marriage (I think my favorite quote was the way start a car is you don't intend to dive it, Lake is better than me i would have left then and there haha)
Our 3 dates - Cash our goalie, Blaze the enforcer, and Luca our forward. All very different personalities that really fit with Lake.
Cash straight up disappears, though, for 60% of the book with minimal explanation like even a chapter in his pov during that time would have helped. Lake forgave him way way too soon, IMO. Blaze is my favorite. The gentle side to his tough hockey personality was really great. Luca, to me, was really cool, but the whole royal aspect means he's living a double life, and his personality are so different.
They had one great night of the 4 of them together, but the second it was done, they were all trying to figure out how to get her all to themselves again.

And with the ending.. idk how this is going to be a true why choose for the next book. I'm excited to see how it ends, though.

The twins couldn’t be any more different. And B would do anything for L to help her get over her Ex. L’s world is opened up to 3 very delicious and very different hockey guys. I love each one of them in their own ways. Even though the guys are teammates on the ice, they aren’t a solid friend group on the outside, so the first book of this duet leaves us in suspense on how the guys will gel and come together. Because L doesn’t want to choose, and neither do we! A lot of the #whychoose books have a pre existing group of guys, or at least some of the guys have a strong connection… but other than working as a team on the ice, these guys don’t really. So it will be really interesting to see how this comes together in the next book. I love the chemistry that all of them have with L. It was fun to see L come out of her shell. I can only imagine the forces that will try and tear them apart, some that are close to them, and some that are only looking in. Can’t wait for the next book!

I absolutely loved this funny, quirky story by this arthur. I went into this story blind just from reading the blurb and I'm familiar with this arthurs other book's which is why she's one of my favorite why choose arthurs.

Lakyn is having a hard time dealing with her breakup with her boyfriend of 3 year's, so her twin sister decides to take matters in her hand's and bid's on 3 of the hockey teams player's one night at an Auction for a new Ice Arena, so it's for a good cause, but Lakyn starts balking at the idea and her sister knows she's got her hands full with convincing Lakyn to go on these dates. I absolutely loved her sister she knew just how to work Lakyn with that twin connection I hollared at that, because if she was drunk she didn't feel it🤣🤣 I highly recommend reading this and come fall in love with these character's. I cannot wait for Trophy the next book in this duet. I'm hoping Bay figures out Topher, because something is wrong here, and shall I say let the games begin with Cash, Blaze, Luca.

A loved this hockey romance. Hockey is the most superior in the sports romance department, and Melissa continues to bring her RH spin to it. The mix of guys she has is incredible, they're not all besties but they are a team. The teamwork makes the dreamwork on and off the ice if ya know what I mean. They're all bringing different things to the table, but I have to say Cash (goalie) is my fave guy so far. Melissa also continues to deliver her antagonist in the form of T. Hes a douchecanoe to the extreme and of course our FMC sis Bay is involved with him. Because he cant just be a regular douche, he's got to be a manipulative womanizer with narc characteristics. You'll love to hate him.

The ending makes you face palm, like guys..shut your mouths. You talk to much but Im anxious to see how the team reacts to Layken's inevitable choosing of the three guys instead of just one. None of them are giving up their captain spot or the girl.

The Auction is the first book in the Not Your Pucking Bunny Duet. It is a why choose, college, hockey romance with plenty of steam and hot hockey players.

This is a fantastic start to this duet. Lakyn is such an awesome FMC, I absolutely adored her, and her twin sis too. The guys are amazing as well. Cash, Blaze, and Luca are the perfect matches for Lakyn, each in their own individual way, and chemistry between them all is palpable. I loved the way each of their relationships developed.

The writing, flow, characters, storyline, character development, storytelling, and world building are all fantastic. I really enjoyed this book and will be excitedly awaiting the final book in this wonderful duet.

why choose?

Been excited for this one and really enjoyed it. Lakyn is a shy, studious girl, so different from her more outgoing vivacious twin Bay, although both girls are close. Love that Bay bids on 3 hot hockey players to date her sister after a breakup with her long term boyfriend. She’s an intelligent, funny girl who just lacks confidence, all the guys do wonders for her self image.
All the guys are totally different but are totally not what she was expecting them to be like when they take her on a date.
Can see trouble on the horizon in the next book after that ending, definitely want to know what’s going to happen next, especially with troublesome team mates.
Five star read, as good as I expected from Melissa.
