Torn between love and sex. By the time Connie decides, it could be too late.

Consumed by desire, Connie’s body yields to Mellor’s outrageous demands even as her heart yearns for her sweet, steady boyfriend. Connie reaches out to Cliff to save their relationship but he is too distracted exploring a different sort of temptation—the promise of quick and easy money from the shifty Tommy Dukes. Can Connie stop Cliff before he makes an epic mistake? Can she stop herself before she falls too far to ever come back?

Don’t miss the next episode, Miss Chatterley Part III: Torn, in Logan Belle’s four-part serial re-imagining of D.H. Lawrence’s classic Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

I'm a little bit captured by this story! Connie continues to battle with her lust for Mellors while also trying to save her relationship with Cliff. I can't help but feel bad for Cliff, but Connie gets a bigger chunk of sympathy because she's so alone in this new life that Cliff has dragged her into. Torn from her dreams of her own career, away from her home and family, and without the intimacy of a relationship that once meant everything to her, she sure does come alive around Mellors!

Again, I don't excuse her behavior...infidelity is NEVER the answer to loneliness. However, this same scenario plays out time after time in relationships today. This book just lets me be a spectator.

Aside from the hotness factor that Mellors brings to the table (hot DAMN, he's smoking hot!), this author does such a fabulous job presenting the shame and rejection that Connie feels every time Cliff lets her down. My heart breaks for her, and I just want to shake him and make him wake the hell up!

The side story with Cliff's assistant and her conniving ways is a bit of a diversion, and honestly at this point, I don't see why it's a factor in the story. Where is she going with this? We'll see. For now, I am well and truly caught up with Connie and her impossible situation.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Guilty over her indiscretion in the last book, Connie is willing herself to move on. But as a scheming Ivy tries to manipulate things for her own dubious intentions, and Cliff remains clueless, we get a surprising ending.

While we get the colourful, imaginative stuff that goes through Connie's head, I really don't know what's going through Cliff's head...

My Take

It's impossible to read just one of these serialized "reimaginings" of LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER; they each end so abruptly that regardless of how you feel about the one you just finished you may feel compelled to begin the next immediately.

It's been a long time since I read D.H. Lawrence's erotic classic. Honestly, I don't recall much more than one lover saying to the other that if they share atowel they will quarrel. I still don't get that, even after 30 or so years.

These episodes in this serialization fell like a blend of THE SOCIAL NETWORK, and maybe something a bit sexier than THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. Much like what I recall of the original, it's more personal drama than erotica. There are about two episodes of sex. They aren't adventurous even though they are outside. Then there are some failed sexual encounters.

Essentially, it's about giving up one's own dreams. That's what happens to Connie. She and Cliff come upon an idea, it gets big but he's the only one with any day to day involvement in it. He hires and "All About Eve" type of assistant, Ivy, who drives a wedge between the two and whose future rides on the same gravy train as Cliff's and Connie's. Ivy is a grasping, selfish bitch. Cliff is a kinder, gentler version of Mark Zuckerberg.

They have to move away from her schooling, her future for what should be their future. But, she is sort of unformed yet; unable to pick up her own pieces once they move. I can't determine if the author just wrote unadventurous sex because that's how she writes or if it's a reflection of her immaturity. When I say unadventurous I don't mean where they have sex, I mean how.

Connie is a little girl who seemingly has no self outside her life with Cliff. From what I remember of the original, the woman was also ignored and immature. But she was also socially caged and Connie is not. Maybe you can't re-imagine a story as dependent on class-ism and the lack of personal and social freedoms afforded a woman in the early 20th century as Lady Chatterley would have been, when those conditions are so different.

When Cliff's business starts to take off and they have to move to Silicon Valley she can't get into art school, he's's really busy making a gazillion dollars and she's all bummed out and lonely. JOIN A FREAKING CLUB! TAKE A CLASS! GO TO THE MOVIES! Being whiny and depressed makes for a relationship minefield. This chick needs to pull on her so-called Big Girl Panties or grow a pair.
She also needs to corner Ivy and set her effing straight. Why isn't she doing Ivy's job? Ivy has no more skills in the VP of Operations field than Connie would have had.

Seriously. Connie is an immature whiner with poor decision making skills. Yeah, Cliff is clueless, but you know what, he's a guy, a geeky guy, thrust into a big, stressful world. Instead of annoying him and begging for time, Connie needs to help him and GET HER OWN LIFE!

I remember being young and moving far from home (and I married a physicist/engineer). We only had one car and I had to learn to drive it (it was a standard and I had only drive automatics). We didn't have any money, so we couldn't do much in the way of recreation. I was very young, but I went out and got a job (a terrible job). I joined a club. When we moved again, I got another job (also terrible). We entertained people from our neighborhood and work. I joined a garden club. I made tons of mistakes but I didn't sit around whining ALL the time.

This girl has some money, a car, a nice house, decent clothes. She's an artist and has free time -- something most artists would kill for. She complains that her guy can't get it up when they try to have sex after he's been at work for 16 hours.

Really, I found her grating: no better in her own way than the other woman, Ivy. If you put the two together you might get a decent character out of it.

I feel I need to go back and reread LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER.

Also, I have to mention the very weird narrative voices: this is written in the first person when we are with Connie and the third person for Ivy. It is a strange device and I found it threw me for a loop.

I am honestly torn by this series. It certainly wasn't what I expected. It is either very cutting edge or another attempt to jump on the youthful ingenue having sex bandwagon. I don't know if I am astute enough to tell the difference; not that I am not smart but I can fall prey to "pop-culture" as much as anyone; after all, I enjoyed Fifty Shades while many of my friends thought it was crap. The first episode ends with Connie doing something massively stupid. The second one ends on a startling cliffhanger. I am reading the third and fourth parts and will let you know how it goes.

In last week's installment we were introduced to Connie Chatterley and her boyfriend Cliff Reid. When Cliff's social media site "Chatterbox" went slightly big, they packed up and moved to California even though she didn't want to go. Once there Cliff ignores her for the most part while being systematically cut away from Connie. When Connie goes looking for something to occupy her, she finds CrossFit and the coach Oliver Mellors.

This section was interesting but it seemed to be mostly filler. Although there was a little progression from a few of the characters, it seemed to be setting up future parts. Connie felt guilt over her one-day stand with Mellors while Cliff tried to get back to Connie but continued to fail. Ivy sneaked around and manipulated while Tom Dukes did whatever he felt like doing.

Connie is a bit blah for me and she's the main character! That makes the sections following her to be very difficult for me to get through. Her issues with Cliff and her guilt over Mellors doesn't make her relateable to me. I just keep yelling at the kindle, "SERIOUSLY JUST YELL AT CLIFF!" She's kind of stuck with asshole of the year. She sobs all the way home from a getaway that gets cuts short and he's like..."sorry". I'm like,

Seriously put on your big-girl panties and just confront him. I kept waiting for her to just say something about Cliff being an asshat. Of course, she just cries and then sleeps with Mellors. Idiot.

I really hate Ivy but I'm suffering from a strange love/hate relationship with her. I just hate the character for her manipulations, strategizing, etc. but I want more scenes with her as she screws up. The whole affair with Dukes (is it an affair when they only had sex once?) is clearly going to spiral downwards hopefully with Ivy crashing and burning with him. I just love characters we all love to hate. They just make the story that much more interesting.

Like I said, I felt this entire section was filled with set-up. It cemented wedges between Connie and Cliff, showed Cliff trying to bandage their critical relationship with a proposal bandaid, and the seeds of doubt being planted in Ivy's mind. I'm really interested to see where Ivy's story will go and when and if Mellors will be more than an athletic body. I have a feeling he won't be but I can't wait to find out.

Join me next week for part three "Torn".

Dirty, Miss Chatterley #2 by Logan Belle
* I received this ARC free from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review*

Connie is beside herself with guilt after her latest workout session and she isn’t looking forward to her weekend with Cliff. She can’t get Cliff to change his mind but she is saved when he has a crisis at Chatterbox. Even though she is mad as hell at him for choosing work over her, she is also relieved. She fully intends to end things with Mellors but things don’t always go as planned. Will it be too late to save her relationship with Cliff?

Connie is still battling with self-doubt and boredom. She doesn’t have anything to occupy her days while Cliff is spending hours at Chatterbox. They are having problems in the bedroom and she’s afraid that Cliff isn’t attracted to her anymore. Connie puts her energy into working out and her art but every time she tries to draw it seems that Mellors is her inspiration.

She knows what she did was wrong but she is drawn to Mellors and can’t seem to walk away from him. He is their Crossfit coach and Cliff is super excited about them training together. If she can only convince Mellors to drop them as clients, she won’t have to be the bad guy.

To me, Cliff is oblivious to what is going on between him and Connie. He is so wrapped up with Chatterbox that he doesn’t realize that their relationship is falling apart. He spends more time with his “assistant” Ivy than he does at home. Ivy has an ulterior motive for everything she does and thinks that by working with Tom Dukes she is going to achieve the financial success she desires. Tom Dukes is only out for himself and he will get what he wants no matter what it takes or who gets hurt in the process.

Even though these are short stories, it doesn’t take long to become fully vested in these characters. I don’t agree with what Connie is doing, but I still don’t want her to get caught. What she is going through is not uncommon and I can understand the need to feel desirable and Mellors provides that for her. He may be sexy but Cliff is the one that is going to be there for her through thick and thin. Connie just needs to take a step back and look at her relationship with Mellors and determine whether or not she is willing to “walk away”.

I loved the second installment of this series; it moved quickly and was very sexy. I love the characters and can’t wait to see how everything is going to play out. I know that Ivy and Tom Dukes are going to cause trouble for Cliff and Connie somehow. Overall I enjoyed this installment and give Miss Chatterley II: Dirty 3½ Flaming Hearts.

(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Pocket Star and Edelweiss.)
This is part 2 of the ‘Miss Chatterley’ serial, and kicks off right where part 1 left off.
This time Connie is questioning herself and feeling guilty over having cheated on her boyfriend Cliff, but she still can’t stop thinking about the man she cheated with – her coach Oliver Mellors, who made her feel things that Cliff never did.
What should Connie do though? Should she see Mellors again? Should she confess to Cliff? And is there any hope left for her relationship?

I was really looking forward to reading this after reading part 1 – ‘Hungry’, and I really wasn’t disappointed!!

We were left at the end of ‘Hungry’ with Connie having just had some very hot and steamy sex with her personal trainer Mellors, who has been showing her a lot more attention than her boyfriend has! She felt instantly guilty though, and even asked her sister if she should confess to Cliff what she had done! I totally got what she was going through though, and could see why she was torn between confessing and keeping quiet.
Cliff continued to ignore Connie in this instalment, but he did put in a little more effort with her at times. I personally thought that Connie was well within her rights to get annoyed with Cliff though, when during the first sexual encounter they had had in months, he stops to answer his phone, and then tells her that they have to leave (without finishing). I thought her question to him ‘Are you f***ing kidding me?’ was fair enough in the situation, and it wasn’t exactly surprising that she would feel second rate to his company when he would even answer his phone when they were trying to have sex!

Although I don’t really like stories where someone cheats, I do seem to like this series! I’m not sure if it’s just because of the constant build-up of tension between Connie and Mellors, or the really steamy sex scenes when they eventually get down to it, but this series is good! I do think that Connie needs to make a choice though – stay with Cliff and try and work things out, or leave him for Mellors (if he’ll have her).
Once again the ending of this book left me wanting more though! At the end of the first book, the book ended literally with Connie climaxing, and at the end of this book an incredibly difficult situation arose that totally made me go yikes! Can’t wait to find out what will happen next!
Overall; part 2 of a sexy serial!
8.5 out of 10.

Things are heating up in Silicone Valley!  After the big cliffhanger from the first part, where we found that Connie finally gave in to her needs, at least physical ones, we now deal with the sort of aftermath of that first encounter.

Cheating is always a touchy subject for me, but the author does a great job at making you feel like Connie.  She gave up her whole life to follow her boyfriend's dream, moved to a new city for him and now he kind of left her stranded and unattended.  All things that will put a strain on any relationship.

Even though Connie's mind wants to struggle and stop the affair, her physical attraction to Mellors is too great and they are sure to heat up the pages of this part with raw passion and lust.  This might be the part where I am just as confused as to what I want the outcome of this story be as Connie probably is.

All the while we have the side stories.  I love being able to glimpse this story from different perspectives.  Not just the heroine and the hero, but also the ever nosy personal assistant that wants nothing more than to get rid of Connie.

As always, Ms. Belle knows how to end a part with a hook that will leave you running to grab the next part.  Good thing there are only 4 parts so only one more cliffhanger in my future.

Dirty is part 2 of the Miss Chatterley series. It runs about 80 pages, so it's basically a novella. I was intrigued by part 1, Hungry. It left off just when it was getting good! In Dirty it picks up minutes after the first book left off: Connie is confused about her sexual encounter with Mellor. She loves Cliff, but his neglect of her has left her very lonely. Cliff is so busy trying to start up his company he is clueless about Connie's feelings. Meanwhile, Cliff's assistant Ivy is trying to micromanage him. She's also interfering with his business dealings with Tommy Dukes.
This is a good series thus far. I love the development in the characters. Connie loves Cliff, but it's clear she's not a priority in his life right now. She's hurt and upset. She'd attracted to Mellor. He fills the need left by Cliff. Ivy is an opportunist and a ladder climber. She's crushing on Cliff, but he doesn't have eyes for her. One good thing about Cliff is that he's loyal to Connie sexually. However Ivy is a little fish getting thrown into a big pond and Tommy Dukes is a shark. I can't wait to find out how her story line plays out.
All in all, I'm happy with the series thus far. Miss Chatterley part 1 and 2 are page turners. They're not only hot and steamy but also quick reads. For those wondering about the hotness factor of the books, the series would border on erotica.

Strangely, I’m kind of starting to like cliffhangers. In the second installment of the Miss Chatterley series, you get a little bit more of the deceitfulness and underhanded methods of Ivy Bolton, Cliff's assistant and right hand, and Tommy Dukes, the Goldman Sachs guy who wants to take Chatterbox public with its IPO. Without giving away too much, these are two people I'm hoping get their just desserts, but in a very bad way.

Cliff himself seems to be a little adorable, in that there is so much going on around him, that he doesn't see anything. He's starting to realize he's taking Connie for granted. He tries to make it all up to her, but with him, work just keeps coming first.

Connie, for her part is someone you just want to smack and tell to get a grip. I can understand and appreciate her overall underlying issue of being all alone in another state, with her boyfriend not paying her any attention and most of the time not even acknowledging her existence. She really needs to figure out what she wants. For me, she's bordering on someone I can't stand.

Thankfully, the ending of this book doesn't make me want to scream, as the ending of Hungry did. I'm looking forward to seeing how this series ends. Up next, is Torn. And the name, I'm sure is going to say it all.

We continue on Connie Chatterley's adventure. To choose between her loving yet absent boyfriend Cliff or her hot as hell hunk Mellors, Connie's guilt nags on her.
But that doesn't stop her from resisting Mellors's pull to her.

The story moves along slowly in this second installment.
Again, I don't feel a great interest in Connie or Mellors as people. They're more like sexual beings who have very little back story. And the history that is given doesn't seem to but the sex scenes are hot enough that I forget about it!

Cliff pushes a little bit more center stage in this story, showing what a strange love triangle there is. Cliff isn't abusive, or hurtful or evil. It's easy to see how Connie is having a hard time giving up either men. Though still, Cliff is more of a human being than Mellors at this point. You know, human being vs. man candy.

So when Cliff invites Mellors to his and Connie's home, to help them train and get in better shape, Connie is thrown for a loop when Mellors accepts!
Between guilt and lust, Connie isn't sure where to go from here.

While not a lot happens in the book, it's still a fun, sexy story that kept me wanting to read more. And the cliffhanger ending- well, that just propelled me into reading book three!

And the story continues.... Another enjoyable 80 pages!

My Thoughts:

We left off in Hunger with Connie filling the void in her life by giving into temptation. Now she is being torn into two: Her love for Cliff and her desire for Mellor. As each day passes she feels more and more guilt over her actions. She tries to repair her relationsihp to the best of her ability, but no matter how much she tries she isn't able to replace what Mellor is giving her.

Connie receives two tickets to a Cross Fit tournament and convinces Cliff to go with her. She thought it would be a good way of spending more time with Cliff, but little did she know that Cliff would become so intrigued with Cross Fit and want to start working out with her an Mellor. Now with the tension of sharing work outs with her boyfriend and her biggest temptation, Connie becomes torn into.

Cliff is not oblivious to what his work schedule is doing to his relationhip with Connie and towards the end of Part II he will take any extreme to try to re-kindle the love that they once had. But is it too late?

WOW!!!!  A quick 80 page read, I was hooked with in the first few pages and wasn't let go until I finished part III and that's only because part IV isn't out yet! These books are about the life of Connie and her struggles to move from NYC and to give up something she loves for the man she's "in love" with. And move to CA with no life/family or friends and the man ignoring her in and out of the bed room. Throw in a conniving bee-atch, power hunger money man, the HOTTEST Marine on the planet and screwed up sister and you have one of the best series of novella you will read. PERIOD!
Ms. Belle's story telling is amazing.
Part II
You get More of Ivy's story and Dukes story as well as the struggles between Connie and the HOT Marine!! I have to say that Ms. Belle is the Queen of cliff hangers!

Logan Belle has written an amazing four part story that had me riveted to my seat until I was done reading. Connie Chatterley is a conflicted character and the writing conveys the emotion realistically making the Connie relatable to the reader even though we may not agree with her actions. She is flawed, but who isn’t. The story speaks to a deep loneliness and the mistakes we make when we don’t communicate effectively with our partners. It speaks to trust in people that only think of their own interests. It speaks to deep relationships as well as ones that are carnal and don’t even touch the surface of emotion. The sexy scenes broke the temperature gage, especially the ones with some of the secondary characters. Overall, I felt I read a fulfilling story with a great balance of elements and nothing in excess. Definitely a writer to follow. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Miss Belle.

I received a copy of Dirty in exchange for a review.

Dirty picks up where Hungry leaves off, with Connie and Mellors in nature. I felt sort of bad for Connie, being all alone in CA, being ignored by her fianc?, and being extremely attracted to her fitness coach. What is a girl to do? Well, she shouldn't do her coach, but sometimes these things happen I guess. I was wanting to shank Ivy thought the whole book, and often found myself wondering about guys and their judgments, as well as why Connie didn't head into Clint's office and just mess up the bitch! Overall, I enjoyed the story, and just wish I could read about Connie and her love affair in one book. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story, and to find out what kind of pickle Connie and Ivy end up in

Logan Belle has me hooked on Miss Chatterley! Connie is now struggling between her new passion with Oliver and her relationship with Cliff. Connie tries to be a good girl and get over Oliver but she isn't able to overcome how he makes her feel physically. Cliff is a genius so he knows that his relationship isn't what it should be. He tries but like all geniuses focus can be an issue. To make matters worse Ivy Bolton and Tommy Dukes team up! Which can only mean bad news for Cliff and Connie. I thought Part I Hungry left you wanting more Part II Dirty has a cliffhanger at the end that leaves you needing MORE!
