Short, sexy and sweet—where a little love goes a long way.
That’s the best way to describe Jackie Nacht’s stories. I was introduced to M/M Romance through my sister, Stephani, and read it for years. Then, I thought it was time to put my own stories on paper. I began writing short and sweet stories that ended with a happily ever after…and sometimes more than one, in the case of my YA Fork in the Road series, which has interactive endings.
Thinking back to my own book addiction, where there were many nights I stayed up way too late so I could read just one more chapter—yeah, right—I decided to write short romances for young adults as well as adults. Hopefully, they will give high school and college students, or working men and women something they can read during their lunch hour, in between classes or just when they want to briefly get away from the daily stresses of everyday life.

Long, stiff blocks of exposition masked as dialogue. An attempt to be cool. Unoriginal...just bleh.

Lawson and Hayden, and during the entire story I still couldn't tell them apart, not because of their characteristics but the names totally confused me!
Ok both are working at the Pumpkin patch the football player does the grunt work, and boy I really hope those kids are exaggerations, because mine would be in trouble up to their eyebrows if they talked to people like that, and the artist paints and carves the pumpkins.
The work sucks but the football player sticks with it because he is crushing on the artist.
He finally works up his nerve to ask him over to his frat house, where we get a very detailed description of a pigsty !:)
We also learn the frat boys and athletes are all over the rainbow with gays, so no worries there!
After getting hot and heavy football player sort of freaks and they slip into more of a friendship.
Now, I would have liked to know more about this time, why didn't either of them try for at least a little kissing and stuff, or why exactly did football guy freak? Because when they finally do get it on, they talk about moving in together before the afterglow has even worn off!
It's a totally light snack of a read, I love the title and have a feeling we might, maybe get Cooper's story...?

This is a very cute story about opposites, and first love. Lawson hates his job at the pumpkin patch, but he doesn’t quit like his friends, only so he can see Hayden who carves and paints pumpkins. Finally, after a few weeks he invites Hayden to come and watch TV at his frat house. Hayden is less than certain. Lawson is a football player, and their fraternity has a very scary reputation. Hayden is sure that he’ll be pummeled because there’s no way they won’t figure out he’s way gay, but Lawson tells him that they are fine with him being gay. However, when Lawson freaks out that night, he shoves Hayden into the “friend zone”. He then spends the next few weeks hanging out with the guy and kicking himself that he pushed Hayden away. Finally the frat Halloween party is the opportunity for him to make it clear to Hayden that he wants to be more than “just friends”.

I’ve never been to a frat house, we don’t have those in Canada really, but I’m thinking the author has been, or has a vivid imagination. Oh my. The smells and the condition leave Hayden reeling. However he is surprised that Lawson’s room isn’t so disgusting, and everyone at the fraternity does seem pretty accepting of them as a couple. It is a very sweet story about two guys who are nervous about facing the physical side of a relationship, and Lawson kind of screws it up in a panicked moment. His friends help to push him in the right direction, since by now, the fraternity loves Hayden as much as he does.

At the end, Lawson starts making plans for the two of them, which seem a bit fast, but I can deal with that when the character acknowledges he’s kind of racing ahead and thinking long-term a little early. It’s when the characters aren’t aware of what they are doing that it’s annoying, and hey, young love, first time, you can forgive a lot with 18 and 19 year olds. Another appealing aspect was Lawson and Hayden’s experiences in the pumpkin patch with the customers, from foul-mouthed kids to back-seat pumpkin carvers. When you are looking for light and fun, it’s a great choice to leave you with a smile.

Quick read, story under 30 pages. All stories in the holiday jobs that don't suck series are loosely connected.

I’ve become a big fan of Jackie Nacht’s books. I love her well-written and likeable characters and she has a humorous voice that I really enjoy.

At first glance, Lawson and Hayden are complete opposites. Lawson is a big, popular football player who lives in the ‘jock’ frat house on college campus. Because the frat house has a tendency to get a little rowdy, it’s gained a bad reputation on campus. Hayden on the other hand, is a sweet and gentle artist who still lives in the freshman dorm. They both work at the local pumpkin patch and have become quite friendly with each other.

I enjoyed watching Lawson build up the courage to ask the sweet Hayden out. Although he’s physically strong, he’s a gentle giant and I loved how he really made an effort to get Hayden to go out with him and for his friends to accept him. I also loved how Hayden learned to trust his feelings toward Lawson and was able to give the big football player a chance at being a friend as well as his boyfriend. Both men are clearly enamored with one another and I loved watching their relationship grow and flourish and start building toward the next level…which is a long term commitment.

I loved this story, but as with all short stories, I really hated to see it come to an end. I thought that it was also great how Lawson’s fellow teammates didn’t give him grief for being with Hayden and enjoyed how they easily accepted him into their lives. This made the story a refreshing read for me because it was good to read about their acceptance of the two heroes’ relationship. I know that I hope that this is a trend that not only happens in books but in real life too.

Bewitched at the Pumpkin Patch is a sweet and sexy story that will leave you with a smile on your face. Ms. Nacht definitely hit this one out of the ballpark and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Highly Recommended!

Hoping to earn a little extra cash, college football player, Lawson, gets a job at a pumpkin patch. But what he hoped would be an easy job turns into a job from hell when he constantly has to put up with devil children who make his job miserable. The only reason he hasn’t quit is Hayden, the pumpkin artist who makes his job somewhat bearable. Can Lawson finally get up the courage to ask Hayden out or will a possible relationship together be over before it even begins?

I learned something very interesting last night. I have a HUGE weakness for college stories where the huge jock is scared the small artist will reject him. And by that I mean I am a HUGE SUCKER for these stories so when I started reading this one, I about fell in love already! Lawson is just so cute and I loved that he was freaking out over Hayden and just being friends. At the same time, I loved that Hayden was scared of meeting Lawson’s fraternity brothers, who have a reputation of being gigantic douche bags. Together, they’re adorable and complete opposites and I couldn’t help loving them.

The only thing that could have made this story better was for it to be LONGER! OMG, I just adored the book but I really wanted to see more of it and really get into the meat of the story. Figuring out why Lawson freaked out and seeing more of Lawson and Hayden together, even if they were just ‘friends’ at the time. Plus, seeing them AFTER they finally become a couple!

Overall, this was an adorably cute short story that I loved to pieces. A nice start to the series because it’s just long enough to get an impression of the characters and their situations while also getting an HEA. I’ll be looking forward to reading more in this series especially since I’m hoping Lawson’s best friend, Cooper, gets his own story soon!

Lawson and Hayden both work in the pumpkin patch as a holiday job. Since they started working together, football player, Lawson, has had a major crush on the artist who paints the pumpkins for customers. Little does Lawson know that Hayden has a crush on him too.

Jackie Nacht consistently writes stories that warms my heart and bring a smile to my face. There really isn't anything bad I can say about this story. It's just cute, period. I immediately liked the MCs and couldn't wait for them to finally connect romantically. If you're looking for a short story that will give you the warm and fuzzies, this is definitely for you.

3.5 stars. Very sweet (but not sappy) romance between two very different college guys - one a big football player in the jock fraternity and one a freshman art major. They work at the same Pumpkin Patch job in October and get to be very friendly. Turns out they are both pretty inexperienced, but they really do like each other but are having some trouble moving beyond friendship. Finally they get it together on Halloween! I wish all athletes were like the guys in this story and maybe someday this will be the norm rather than the exception. Really liked both Lawson and Hayden and would love to read more of their story :)

This was a cute short story about two college guys that meet while working at a pumpkin patch. This is a quick romance without much build up. It is just light hearted and cute for this time of year. Beyond the relationship, my favorite part of this story was the fraternity. The guys there were similar and yet so different from what I pictured them to be. I loved that they were so accepting and yet you could still see the partying and wildness you would expect from a sports fraternity. I honestly wish the story had been a little longer and went into the Pledge Week that was mentioned. I think that would have been an entertaining read.

It's so funny that I just finished reading this book which was the first of this series when I've already finished all the rest of the books. Lol
I enjoyed reading these books: short, simple, and sweet. Something you want to read when you're in the mood for something that's not angsty and just want to smile.

The only thing now is that I want to reread the other books to remember the names introduced. I want to familiarize myself again with all the guys! :)

This was short and sweet, but probably a little too short and a little too sweet. Which is kind of funny, because I usually don't mind these kinds of stories. I just feel like the author could have done a little bit more with this.

This is a really cute, short story about two college boys who meet at a sucky holiday job at a pumpkin patch. It's sweet, but not too sappy, and a perfect fluff read really! Lawson's friends at the frat add just a touch of dirty humor to his and Hayden's little romance. A quick, fun read.
