Lily Taylor’s life has been transformed twice – once by the music she loves, and then by the chance to make a career following her passion – writing about the business. But when she gets the biggest break of her career so far, an interview with the infamous Tristan Hunter, a rock star with a talent for trouble, Lily isn’t sure what to expect. Even though she’s always admired him, Tristan has a reputation for being difficult...and demanding.
Yet Tristan turns out to be just as electrifying in person as he is on stage, and the powerful connection between them is undeniable. Now the fiercely independent Lily finds herself caught up in a whirlwind of sexual desire that forces her to question everything she believes – and she’ll have to decide just how far she is willing to go for the answers…

2.5 stars. This book is one big game of Hot, or not hot? Let's play the game!
Stuff that was supposed to be sexy but wasn't:
Quote : I leaned over and buried my face in my jeans. The scent of us, together, was dizzying. My reaction : Did you really just rub your face into the crotch of your soiled pants?
Quote : I wanted his hand, actual, nail bitten, long fingered, in me. My reaction : Now I'm picturing a long, bony finger with raggedy nails.
Quote : Wet pouring out of me My reaction : Geysers are not sexy.
Scene Recap : The guy wears a black silk kimono and quotes 'Gone With the Wind' My reaction : No...just no.
Fashion Recap : His long torso was covered in a vintage Hawaiian print shirt, unbuttoned halfway, showing an expanse of smooth chest. A white belt. My reaction : Magnum P.I. called and he wants his clothing back. Or is it Miami Vice? Either way, it's bad 80's.
Scene Recap : He ran his finger over the head of his dick and placed it in his mouth at an attempt to look sexy while 'shamelessly tasting himself' (phrase in quotes came from book). My reaction : You know, it just works better when it's the woman doing this scene. Sort of like how it might be sexy if a woman plays with her nipples, but if a man does it, you know he's goofing off.
Quote : His huge cock fighting back. My reaction : Now I'm picturing an actual cock fight. Look at those cocks go at it!
Yet, I haven't forgotten that there were sexy moments :
Quote : I am going to teach you to come for me. Only when I tell you to. My reaction : While this isn't the easiest thing to accomplish in a short amount of time, I enjoyed watching him give it a go.
Quote :I want to make you scream. Make you beg for me inside you. Tell me you want this. Tell me, now. My reaction :I love vocal, insistent men in the bedroom. Love, love, looooove.
Quote :You beautiful girl. I'm going to ruin you for anyone else. My reaction : Damn straight. I beg of you - give it your best effort. Please.
My final thoughts about Access All Areas :
While I took off and had a little bit of fun with the hot/not thing in this review, I'm not saying that I completely disliked the book. In fact, I enjoyed some of it. The sex wasn't bad when it happened.
Where I might have felt a little cheated was with the whole rock star aspect. We didn't really get to see this rock god living the life/being in the thick of things as much as I would have expected for a book featuring a rock star as a lead character. So much of the story centered around Lily waiting around to be summoned by her rock god. I sort of felt moments of frustration over waiting for this book to take off in one direction or another...was it going to be a contemporary romance or an erotic book? If this was going to be a contemp, I would have expected more to the story than what we got. Not a whole lot happened plot-wise until closer to the end. If this was going to be an erotica, I would have wanted more sex sprinkled throughout. Genre-straddling books need to really pull off using the best of both worlds, or they fail to deliver.
The ending? Uh, I don't know what to think of it. Is there more to this story? I'm thinking there might be at some point.
Jenny: Well, we said we needed a book to “wow” us didn’t we Gitte and boy did we stumble upon a beauty!
Gitte: We really did Jenny. Just wow indeed!!
Jenny: I have to say upfront though that the Prologue sort of confused me and I was wondering if I was going to get into this book but a few pages later and this book hooked us didn’t it?
Gitte: Yeah I was a bit confused in the Prologue as well. I felt like I had missed something, I wasn’t sure what was going on, then suddenly the story grabbed me and it did not let go. Even after having finished, it still has my heart beating real fast and I still get the shivers and a tear in my eye when I think of it.
Jenny: Yep, I had the same feelings at the end too GG. I thought this book was so beautifully and intelligently written – at times it was like reading a journalism piece from Rolling Stone Magazine and I found prose descriptive but not annoying. This author certainly has a way with words. The first thing I felt was an affinity with the music and how it introduced us to Lily and Tristan. That’s what pulled me in immediately. I loved how the author wove The Clash – (London Calling, White Riot….lord save me!) with Tristan’s band Devised, at the start of the book at the Brit Awards. It made you feel like you were there and was pure genius! How Lily felt about the music, how she felt watching these bands, it really spoke to me. I could feel her connection to the music and she experienced everything I feel when I watch a live band so it wasn’t hard for me to connect to her and the story straight away.
Gitte: The music is what got to me. I love when it’s music I have a connection to as well as in this case London and the people in the business! I heard it, I saw it; I experienced it. When a story is told as brilliantly and as vividly as this one with such apparent knowledge and intelligence I felt it and got the immediate connection with Lily and Tristan. I love live music…if I don’t go to at least 5 concerts a year as well as local gigs I feel lost, the feeling of it is like a drug. The way the Author described Lily’s reactions to the music, how much and what music means to her…I felt it, because this is me, this is how I feel!
Jenny: We first pick up the story of Lily meeting Tristan for the first time. All nerves and insecurities in coming face to face with her idol….not only in Tristan but Mick Jones from The Clash, backstage after a concert to ask them a few questions for her music blog. Have I mentioned how much I loved the meshing of reality and fiction here? haha
Lily: “I’ve just met the love of my life and lost him all in the space of an hour”
Gitte: Hmm I think you did mention it. The first meeting, yeah you just know something special happened there. We felt what it meant and did to Lily when she met Tristan for the first time. Yet Tristan’s words…I don’t know…I just felt at the time reading it that this random episode was going to mean something to him too.
Jenny: Now Gitte, Lily isn’t our usual type of heroine is she? We can’t say much because we wouldn’t want to give anything away but a few things she did surprise me about her and you know what? I sort of found it quite refreshing. What about you?
Gitte: I think we have gotten used to a certain type of heroine Jenny, hence the shock factor at some of Lily’s actions. However, I have to say what a fantastic and refreshing change Lily made. I have to say she intrigued me from the start!
Jenny: Fast forward five years later, with Lily more established as a music journalist, more independent and about to meet Tristan, who is now a big deal in the music world, to conduct an interview. Lily is quite intense, has put up huge barriers, she comes across as a bit of a loner, gets overwrought, has flaws, insecurities, and has had years of wandering and “not feeling”. Seeing Tristan again ignites something in her that she can’t explain, even to herself. Her reaction to him and his music is extreme. He affects her in a way no one ever has.
Gitte: Aww Lily, you fell not just literally, you also fell in lust and love at the same time all those years ago. Our Lily, who I still haven’t figured out, must have been through something in her past I am sure, resulting in her being so emotionally closed off. She certainly is intense and seems like such a lost soul who has problems identifying her feelings for what they are or even letting herself feel them. She has convinced herself that love is not important; emotions are not important. They bring pain…and not the pain she will willingly admit to wanting. Perfection, anxiety, hurt and numbness….
“How do people deal with desire?”
Jenny: Tristan…..what can I say about Triz?? We can’t stop talking about him can we? All Dark eyes, dark hair, beautiful, talented, deep, and over 6ft of brooding alpha, dominant, rock god who just oozes sexuality…..hmmm think it’s safe to say we bloody loved him! *wink, wink* Tristan was such a puzzle. Just who was Tristan? From the first time I met him I wanted to know him, know his secrets, know more about him, I wanted to know what made Tristan tick. Oh yes, this guy had me wanting more!!!
“I let my glance drop down his body, oh my there was a lot of him. What the hell was I going to do with all that? He was made for sex, I’d never been this enticed by a man’s body before.” “He was animal and beautiful, and I felt like I was looking at a work of art. His beauty was so modern, but there was a whisper of something ancient in his proportions” Wow Gitte, I love this author’s writing
Gitte: Yes…sigh…Tristan. I absolutely LOVE this guy! Hahaha Jenny, that quote is highlighted after I read it more than twice, yeah not going to lie. This Author’s words are mesmerizing at times…a lot of the time! Tristan had me right from the start with his words when he and Lily met for the first time. I immediately thought wow…who is this guy! Yes, he is not only a gorgeous Rock Star…he is intense, each word he speaks has meaning; a meaning hidden within a meaning. I was completely drawn to him, I wanted to know everything I could possible know and I wanted more too; this man is one hot enigma with a painful past!
Jenny: The sexual chemistry between these two? Seriously, it was tangible! Tristan and Lily are such passionate, complex and complicated people and getting to know them and experience the intensity between them just had me spellbound. Yes, these two had me hooked! There was just something so deep and so intense about them, I had to know more!! And this author unwrapped them so slowly and wonderfully that it was killing me (in a good way!) and I was so immersed in their story I just wanted to race to the end to see how it all unfolded.
Lily: “My body felt like someone had held it in their hands. ……….. satisfied and thoroughly fucked” Tristan: “And you make me come insanely hard”
Gitte: Yeah the Author sure knew just how much to give away reeling us in then having us grasp at scraps here and there to satisfy our need to both know and understand. I think it’s safe to say both Lily and Tristan are emotionally messed up. Though; I’d say Lily more so than Tristan. There is no simplicity here. The connection between Tristan and Lily is intense, it is intricate and heavy and you can literally see it and feel it as a reader. What the other means to them differs to begin with. I think they each see what they want to; what they think they need and want. Confusing as it may be to Lily as she is more emotionally closed off from the world except the music. Tristan embodies music which is where he has an advantage on her.
Jenny: What about the sex scenes??? Geez, w e nearly burnt up the phones discussing these! They were intense, hot, descriptive and ummm yeah…hot!! This author can certainly write a sex scene. Ummm did you delete those texts by the way? You delete yours and I’ll delete mine. Deal?
Gitte: No problem Jenny, consider them deleted! ;) Oh for all that is HOT…the sex scenes. Shivers, tingles, heavy breathing and a racing heart…yeah that would be me, I am not talking about Lily and Tristan here hahahaha. Possession, Obsession and control….
“I knew you’d be like this he whispered” …..sigh……
Jenny: I absolutely loved this book and felt bereft when I got to the last page – I wanted…..no, needed more. I will say the only thing I didn’t like was Tristan’s nickname for Lily…..that was kind of a ewwww moment for me, but I moved on from it. Thankfully the next book will be out around December….roll on Access Restricted I say because I NEED more Tristan and Lily……but definitely MORE Tristan Hunter! Hello new book boyfriend – we’ll have to share him though Gitte because we can’t fall out over a fictional character ;)
Gitte: You know that moment you hit 85% on your kindle and you think noooo please keep going don’t stop; I am NOT ready to end this journey, I need more…I still don’t understand everything!! Lily and Tristan have me spellbound…I cannot let them go…I have so many unanswered questions and even though this story does not have a cliff-hanger as such, it leaves you almost grieving that it has ended. I need more Tristan and intriguingly enough I definitely need more Lily! I cannot wait for Access Restricted to land on my kindle! Oh and Jenny…I think Tristan is more than man enough for the both of us!!
WTF? -That was what I thought every few lines. It was like I was reading the POV of someone with ADD, who was manic, and epileptic with word vomit, figuratively speaking. Highly suggest reading the ridiculous, mind-F* of a sample that had not one but two prologues. No friggin clue what the hell was going on. Immediately couldn't like the Lily as soon as she started taking her hits of coke. She's completely mental. What's more, this guy gets in a few feels with her which totally boggled my effin mind because I was SURE this guy was batting for the other team. Not hot. When it came to Tristan, I wasn't sure if the author confused witty banter with talking shit because it in no way, whatsoever, was believable that these two people loved each other.
The sad thing is that I could tell this author is a really intelligent person. Think that convinced me to believe that eventually there would be a eureka moment because this author is so twisted, something mind-blowing's gotta happen, right? Not even close.
Jenny: Well, we said we needed a book to “wow” us didn’t we Gitte and boy did we stumble upon a beauty!

Not sure what to say about this one. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. It was kind of "meh" to me. For starters, I felt that the multiple prologues were WAY too long, and largely unnecessary.
I really couldn't connect to the characters at all. We know next to nothing about Lily and Tristan, and why they do what they do. Their relationship felt forced. I had nobody to root for, no real "feelings" from the characters.
There was WAY too much descriptive prose, and inner dialogue, I thought. This one just wasn't for me.
what a great beginning..to what seems to be a very twisted and complicated relationship. That's what this book is the beginning, it felt like it was the opening scene for whats to come, introducing lily and tristan and their 'relationship'. There is clearly a lot more to come in the next book or books. I really did like this but I feel like after iv finished and got an ending from the other book(s) it will boost this to a LOVE!... I think its going to be a bumpy ride but I cant wait, hopefully the wait won't be too long..thats the only frustrating thing about books that end this way, I have to wait to get that happy ending that I want, even if there is one. By the time the next books out I've usually forgotten the story, because there are so many books at the moment that are sequels and trilogies my head cant keep up! Other than that this book really is great, its complicated and confusing but so very interesting at the same time and the sex is HOT!! which a bonus to any rockstar story..mmm tristan is the ultimate dominating, broody bad boy! hopefully he has a lovable heart and doesnt screw everything up, but it could easily be lily who screws it up because neither of them are perfect! for some reason I feel like things aren't going to run too smoothly in the next book..we'll see! counting the days/months until the next book, hopefully it will be a two book series rather than three because to be quite honest I've had enough of trilogies! 4.5 Stars!!
This book was such a disappointment. I saw the reviews, I know I am in the minority, but I can't help the way I feel about this book. Let me start by saying that I love, love, love rock star books especially ones that involve a relationship between a rock star and a journalist. I could read a 100 of them and not get tired of the same old story as long as it is written well.
This book involved a rock star and writer, but I felt nothing. The Prologue was confusing and stupid and I don't know where the author was going with it. I never felt that Tristen (the rock star) and Lily (the writer) had any feelings of love or lust. Lily did say that he was the love of her life I think on page 4 of the book, but give me a break??? There was no real build up and if I hear I suppose to get that from the Prologue than it was a stupid build up and poorly written. Tristen was suppose to be this hot rock star. Honestly, I have no clue what he even looks like except that he wears a leather jacket and has long fingers. Was a description of him even written in the book??? AND please don't say it was in that boring Prologue.
Lily and Tristen were suppose to be having this steamy BDSM sex, but I felt like they were just going through the motions and not any emotions. Lily kept saying that she was feeling these emotions, but the writer just didn't have me feel it. I have read erotica that gave me more emotions in the sex than this book.
Lily's early casual cocaine use turned me off. I have read several books that I loved where people go through their addictions, but there is a story or some consequence for their use. This cocaine use was just weird. Not sure why it was even in the book. Was it there to put some "personality" into Lily. Who I just wanted to walk up to say "DUH" at least 10 times like in the Simpsons.Lily seemed a little, how do I say "out of it" when she was thinking. I hate to say it but she seemed more rational when she was, um, high. UGH!
I tried and tried to like this book. I mean like, I gave up on the love. I think this is one book that should have switched POVs from Lily to Tristen. Maybe I needed a different perspective on the "relationship" than from Lily "DUH" POV.
Would I ever read this book again? NO Did I think about this book when I walked away? No Will I read the sequel? If I get it free. I am glad this book was lent to me and I did not have to pay for it. Do I recommend this book? I think you can guess by me review...NO Did I skim though this book? Yes
I was really let down. I rarely give up on a book, but with this one I just couldn't go on. I got around halfway, and thought to myself, Life's too short to waste my time reading books I'm not enjoying. It may improve, but I don't care. I don't mind a little bit of a slow start, but that wasn't this books problem.
I put this one down at 69% after slugging through an incoherent plot with an unlikeable heroine, an H so vaguely sketched I'm not even sure I know what he was supposed to look like and sex scenes that were just.not.hot. The actual execution of the writing... I felt... was well done. But I couldn't connect with the characters, I never felt the characters connect with each other and after a night's sleep I just have zero desire to pick the book back up and finish it. This one just didn't work for me.
I did enjoy the author's writing style and some of the scenes were hot, but all of a sudden I glanced down and I was at 97% finished, and there were too many incomplete points for me. Would I read the sequel? Probably so, but I'm glad I spent less than $5.00 on this.
Not exactly sure what I was expecting, but it sure as hell wasn’t THAT!!!! The book blurb is actually what caught my eye: rock god meets music writer and sparks fly. I’m always up for a hot and sweaty rock star romance. But, O-M-G, it goes waaaaaaaaaay beyond that. It was amazingly awesome. Holy f-ing intense and sexy!
I have to admit, I almost put this down before I made it through the Prologue (both of them). The Prologue had me confused, and it was looooooooooooooong because there was not ONE but TWO!!!! I figured if there were two then it must be important so I trudged on even though (at that point) I just wanted to stop reading.
The story starts when Lily meets her rock idol, Tristan, backstage at an awards show in London. He just finished playing a tribute and is backstage when Lily works up the nerve to approach him with some questions for her blog. As she’s walking toward him, she gets caught up in some cables and falls right at his feet. Surprisingly, Tristan helps her up and they exchange a few words that Lily will remember for a lifetime. (Prologue)
Fast forward 5 years………… Living in NYC working as a music journalist, Lily gets the opportunity of a lifetime. YEP! She’s interviewing Tristan (who has reached legendary rock GOD status and has the reputation to prove it). Seeing Tristan again ignites something inexplicably strong in Lily. Tristan (and his music) has the power to affect her like no one else ever has.
Lily comes across emotionally closed off and quiet. She’s at bit of a loner and somewhat of an enigma. And, Tristan the hot, mysterious, alpha rocker has secrets and emotional baggage of his own. During the interview, they have a “moment” that pushes Lily to feel things that she prefers to keep locked up and off limits.
“I’ve just met the love of my life and lost him all in the space of an hour” – Lily
Lily doesn’t do love or emotions so she’s having trouble dealing with her feelings for Tristan. Plus, she’s not even in the same league as him so why is she wasting her time thinking about it?????? But, Tristan is intrigued by Lily and drawn to her as much as she is to him. Their effect on one another is intense to say the least.
Surprised that he contacts her, Lily meets up with Tristan a few days after the interview. He picks her up in his limo; not sure what to expect, Lily is nervous and Tristan uses it to his advantage. Tristan teases Lily, they play, but don’t have sex.
“Imagine what it’s going to be like when we actually fuck, darling.” – Tristan
When Lily and Tristan finally do have sex, I was expecting steamy hot scenes (he IS a rock star for crying out loud). What I wasn’t expecting was Mr. Christian Grey to come walking in!!!! The sex was more than just sex. It’s intense. It’s about discovering wants, needs, limits. It’s about control. And, most of all it’s about trust.
When it comes to talk during sex, Tristan has a dirty hot mouth that can rival anyone. The dialogue is toe-curling HOT!
“I am going to fuck you like no one ever has. You beautiful girl. I’m going to ruin you for anyone else.” – Tristan
“Well played, little girl. But when I’m standing over you with a whip in my hand, I want to you to remember your little speech.” – Tristan
Both Lily and Tristan are messed up, but that’s what makes them so real and likeable. The writing is beautiful and the story wonderful. The author didn’t just tell a story, she made you FEEL it through the emotions and thoughts of Lily and Tristan.
“You see something in me, and I feel what you see…………. I want this, I’ve always wanted it, and I’m not even sure what it is.” – Lily
The story will suck you in and not let go. The farther I got into it, the more and more I loved it. I didn’t want it to end. I wanted to keep following Lily and Tristan to see what the future holds. It’s a complicated read and it's not light so this probably isn’t for everyone. There’s still a lot we don’t know about Tristan and Lily, and we’re left with unanswered questions.
I can’t wait for Access Restricted. I really want things to work out (I’m emotionally invested here), but Lily and Tristan’s relationship is complicated and there are some other people involved that could spell trouble………….
H-O-T (4.5 stars) Access All Areas was a quick read with some angst, music, hot rock star, a fabulous story and total hotness. Access was blistering even before the clothes came off. Truly. Not only was it sizzling, but the narrative was stimulating and attention-grabbing, with sound writing. There is intrigue. There is a story being told here which left me on the edge wanting to know it all.
The prologue, while it developed the story, seemed a bit long at first and almost lost my interest. Trust me, keep going. I found myself actually referring back to the prologue later in the book.
Lily Taylor is an independent, strong, writer who is connected through music to the infamous Tristan Hunter. Tristan has a man-whore reputation and the whole rock star personality. I liked that Lily was not perfect and some of her behavior was cringe-worthy in my opinion. This only made her more believable. They are not perfect and it is up for grabs if they will have the happily ever after. Lily has flaws, boy does she. Tristan is a bit of a mystery. He is a puzzle that I want to put together.
Alice Severin was absolutely fantastic in developing this story and these characters. Her writing is unique, intriguing and it works wonderfully. I was captivated by and absorbed into Access All Areas. She expertly wove music throughout the story which gave a connection on another level, feeling more personal and perceptive.
The writing of this story was beautiful. The words were not fluff, but meaningful. The conversations, whether internal to Lily or not, felt real. Tristan’s sexual banter and whispers to Lily just made my pulse race and was Just. So. Hot! Access was enthralling and off the charts sexy. Even more than the sexiness and interesting characters, there were underlying emotions, questions about needs, wants and sexual desires. The story explores limits and left me reeling with questions: meaning, history, emotions, what does the future hold, what does it all mean? I don’t want to say the ending was a cliffhanger, but it leaves much unanswered and unclear. It was enough to stick in my mind and haggling out meaning and speculating about what will happen next. To me, this is a sign of a good story which doesn’t spell everything out, took its time in the telling and leaves you wanting to see where it will take you. Now, I am waiting anxiously for the continued story in book 2. It can’t come soon enough and if it takes too long, things might get ugly. Give it a try!
I really wanted to love this book. A dominant rock star? Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my screen. But it didn’t quite get there for me. I feel this book had great potential but I needed MORE. I needed more from the story line and more from the characters and their relationship.
I found the prologue quite confusing and even as the book continued I found myself at times having to re-read certain sentences. And while the writing was intriguing, I felt it was lacking that effortless flow.
We were given plenty of inner dialogue from Lily’s point of view, which gave great insight into her thoughts and emotions and really lent itself to understanding her as a character. However, I really would have liked more from Tristan. I wanted to know more about him, I wanted to gain a greater understanding of him and witness the thoughts and emotion behind his behavior. And I just have to make mention here that there was an endearment he used for Lily and every time he said it I couldn't help but cringe a little.
Hold on, he called her what?!
The book ended and I was furiously tapping my kindle screen hoping there was another page. It’s not that it ended on a cliffhanger, but I was left somewhat unsatisfied. I do still look forward to the next installment and hope to gain not only greater insight into the relationship between these two characters but also each of them individually. I'm hoping such insight will help cement a greater connection to these characters.
I downloaded this book a few months back but by the time I got around to reading it I forgot what it was about so rather than going back to read the blurb I just dived right in. There is a rather long prologue (two actually!) and it was this that got me hooked. Some parts were a little uncomfortable – well the coke snorting but then this is a book about the rock scene so I guess to write about that it would need to be included. Well I’m sure it happens if the gutter press are to be believed!
So we have our girl, Lily. She loves her music and has been actively blogging about it until she gets a chance to go to one of the industry’s awards ceremony and write about it for a magazine. It’s here she bumps into two of the rock gods of the newly rated group, Devised – Tristan and AC, but its Tristan who gets her pulse racing. But that’s where the prologue ends and the book starts – five years later and once again Lily comes face to face with Tristan.
Lily has made a name for herself as an up and coming rock writer and is asked to go and interview Tristan on the eve of his solo career after Devised has dramatically called it quits. Tristan is totally cool and in control at their first meeting but he is wary of journalists after what had happened when Devised crashed and burned. He plays his new album to Lily which has a totally mind blowing effect on her, especially one song which takes great relevance in the book. It’s as though he has written it for her and surmounts all her life has been about up to now. Seeing the effect this song has on Lily gives Tristan an insight into this beautiful woman. Hence they begin their secret hook ups. And oh what hook ups they are!
Tristan is a total rock god-controlling-hot-as-they-come Dom but Lily is not so easy to submit to him. Well at first she isn’t but then when the breakthrough happens – sheesh, the hot-o-meter melts! The storyline continues with their unconventional relationship – filled with angst, insecurities, no game playing but plenty of HOTNESS! Neither of them are perfect and both have issues from the past that is stopping them taking a chance on each other. I liked both of the characters straight away and for this alone I felt it contributed to the easy flow of the writing. Some parts maybe a little over descriptive but did not detract from the build-up of storyline. In fact I read this in one sitting and a good job it was a weekend, hence able to read through the night, as I could not put it down!
I love books that are to do with the Rock scene and those oh so gorgeous bad boys we adore. This book for me is up there with the best of the Rock Star contemporary/erotic reads. I was glad to see this was book one in a series of three (possibly more) Book two was already out and needless to say it was an immediate download for me and another night of continued reading.
Thoroughly recommend this, especially if, like me you like your book heroes to be the ultimate, dominant, moody, sexy and sinful but oh so sweet in his hidden psyche. Result! Onto book two – Access Restricted.
I really wanted to love this book and some parts I did. This book just was not for me and went into territories that I'M not comfortable with. This does not mean that it might not be a book you may love.
So let me explain why this was not a book for me. There was quite a few scenes with cocaine use in this book and I am a reforming drug addicted. Did these scenes bother me? YES! I've been clean 25 years and even reading about it brings back old memories that I much would rather stay away from.
I also don't care to read hard core BDSM and while not every love scene was hard core, the last scene put me way out of my comfort zone. For me I did NOT feel the love between these two.
Then there was the ending if that is what you would call it. It just ended leaving me hanging from a HUGE cliff. If the book would have went on, I would have kept reading because I did not totally dislike this book or the way the author wrote it, it just was NOT for me. Needless to say I don't think I'll read book 2 in the series when it's released.
If you think this may be a book you would like, DON'T let my review stop you from giving it a try.
Where did the rest of the story go? I was 80% done with this book when I realized that it was going to lead to another book, I have so many questions left unanswered but I did enjoy it... just didn't seem like there was enough of it. Now let me start by saying the prologue was a bit long-winded but it was so worth it to push through. Alice Severin does a great job with charachter developement and the charachters really come to life. This book had it all, hot rock star (which I have a weakness for), intrigue and romance and tons of angst... but I couldn't push past the four stars on my rating because the book ended far too quickly and I really wanted to know what was next. What was going to happen in London and why Lily was going to possibly make it harder. But Tristan has a plan, I just want to know what it is now!
I really wanted to like this book but I never got past my loathing of the heroine Lily. In just the prologue we were introduced to Lily's casual use of cocaine, champagne and indiscriminate sex. And she only got more confusing and pathetic from there.
I couldn't tell if I was supposed to love or hate the characters, the writing style was choppy and unfocused and trying to follow the conversation between characters takes a smarter reader than me.
I didn't totally hate the book (or I wouldn't have finished it) but I would never recommend it. It is books like these that makes me wish I would have tried the free Amazon sample first because I never would have bought the book if l 'd read the prologue first for free.
I must not be intellectual enough to have enjoyed this book as much as the other readers that wrote such glowing reviews. I found myself turned off by Lily's use of cocaine and pain.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I am anxiously waiting for book two which looks like will be available in December.
This book is about a rock star God (Tristan Hunter) who has been in the business for some time. He started out in a band named Devised, but has now moved into a career of being a solo artist. The heroine, Lily, is a music journalist and first meets Tristan when he is with his band. That meeting made a lasting impression on Lily in more ways than one. Tristan is devastatingly handsome and just as talented and Lily is immediately smitten.
The prologue to this book was a little confusing to me and the story started a little slow but Im so glad I stayed with it because once it got going....it got going!
Five years after their first introduction, Lily gets the opportunity to interview Tristan because he is getting ready to release his first solo cd. The attraction is still there, if not hotter for Lily, and now it is mutually acknowledged by Tristan.
You will definitely get to travel a bumpy road when you follow this journey with Tristan and Lily. Both H/H have major baggage, trust issues and do not deal with their emotions very well. This book has some really good hot, sexy, steamy scenes once Tristan and Lily connect and I found myself really wanting a HEA for both of them.
Be warned! This book leaves you on the side of a cliff but the story is so good Im willing to hang on and wait for the author to get book two written and published so I can continue reading about this yummy couple.
At first I had no idea who Lily has her eye's set on- I actually almost when back to the blurp on Amazon to know but decided I would let it be a surprise. Lily's connection with Music it amazing how deeply she feels it. There certainly is a connection between Lily and Tristan immediately even all those years before their second meeting. It's hard to know where Tristan is taking this thing with Lily and the last "big" blow out was heart wrenching. I was right there with Lily while reading as it played out. Then a twist......what is Tristan really up to and the last text message, I'm baffled. Hot Sex that is not typical, BDSM maybe? not sure tell me what you think. It's hot nonetheless and steamy for sure. The ending is a cliff hanger so I hope Author Alice Severin has book 2 almost done!
Quotes:
"Oh b***h please. It's common knowledge you're shut up tighter than a vault. Use it or lose it, honey"
" 'You suck at lying girlfriend. Go have your whore's bath.' I couldn't help laughing. ' Having a full bath. Not just top and tail. And I'm not a whore.' "
"I am going to f**k you like no one ever has. You beautiful girl. I'm going to ruin you for anyone else."
"Sweet love.....hear me calling out your name, I feel no shame."

Alice Severin’s debut book about the sizzling attraction between rock star Tristan Hunter and rock journalist Lily Taylor started out a little confusing for me, but quickly ramped up into something erotic, mesmerizing and so riveting I could not put it down. Yeah, this story has been told many times before, but Ms. Severin’s approach is new and fresh and is firmly woven around music and the backstage world of rock and roll.
The intensity of the feelings between Tristan and Lily were so strong I think my heart stopped beating several times. I don’t know how else to put it, these are two emotionally screwed up people, but when they come together it is beautiful. The erotic scenes between these two were off the chart hot, hot, hot! I highlighted so many quotes in this book I could fill pages, but I will give you just one:
Quote: “You beautiful girl. I’m going to ruin you for anyone else.” OMG, yes please!
There were things I didn’t like, the drug use for one, but this only made the story more realistic as we all know that this is part of the crazy, chaotic music world. This is the first book in a series of three and fortunately for me book two is already out so I am off for more late night angsty reading.
4.5 stars would've been 5 but I found I had to re read some of it, very long winded in parts but it didn't matter, I loved it, and am so excited for the next instalment.Tristen wow another amazing man that I find myself wanting, god he was, bad , good , hot , cold, difficult to understand but I loved him. The connection between the two leads was intense I really felt it, and I love when a book makes me feel all the ups and downs of the relationship, ultimately an amazing book that left me wanting more .....
Where to start... Well after reading a few hot rock star books I picked this one up, thinking okay here is another one to add to the list. But the start was odd and seemed to be trying too hard to be philosophical in the way some of the parts were written. Then once you get out of the two prologues that seem to take to long to get through you are tossed into a story that doesn't develop very well. I just finished this book and I can't even recall what his name was.
I just did not get into this at all, I tried but this was just not my cup of tea.
so by now we all know I have a thing for hit rock stars. I liked the characters, even the s&m made sense in a way. I absolutely hated how casual the drug use was & the darling, little girl comments irritated me. I am also a . little freaked out by the bi-sexual angle BUT I still HAVE to find out what happens next
Liked this book...a couple things annoyed me like when the main character does coke...but whatevs, she's young. I didn't feel very connected to either character until the book was close to finished. And I didn't really believe their attraction to each other at first, but by the end of the book I was eagerly awaiting the second. I give it 3.5 stars.
Sorry but no just no I can't finish this. I think Lily is bipolar, insecure, and desperately needy but I only made 34% of the way through before losing interest in her inner rambling and flip flopping emotional states.
This was a weird and intriguing story. I liked the characters because there was so much depth in them that kept the story interesting for me. However the main character was a little whiny and confusing. I hope there is another book to this and I wouldn't mind reading it.
I liked this book it was a bit slow in parts but great in others I luvd the story the whole dom rockstar Tristan is sexy as hell I found lily a bit annoyin in part but I think I just need 2 read the next book 2 hear more of her story an 2 c how things play out 4 the 2 of them xxx
