Hyde, #2

Jekyll

Rate this book
“When the devil tells you to stop struggling, do you?”

From the moment Eden wakes up, she knows she’s not in Kansas anymore. She isn’t even on Mitch’s doorstep, her dark-side’s favorite place to dump her. No, she’s somewhere far worse. And far more sterile. Sometimes a girl needs to adapt, be flexible, change. And that’s exactly what Eden will do, all the way back to Mitch. No matter what she has to do to get there. Because his life depends on it.

Mitch has lost something he’d never thought he’d find to begin with. And “It’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all” is a lie. A lie people tell themselves to make the pain go away. But the pain doesn’t go away, not in someone like Mitch. It festers. It grows. Until it can’t be held back anymore, even by the bars of a cage.

*** Jekyll is a continuation of Mitch and Eden’s story and may prove confusing to those who haven’t read Book I. So why not go check it out? Heck, the first book is cheaper.

*** This novel is also intended for adults, as it includes lots of cursing, biting sarcasm, and some truly evil people

UPDATE 12/28/12
OMG! OMG! It's live on Amazon!!!!!!!!!!!

description

12/30/12 FINISHED!! Contains Spoilers for the 1st book. Read at your own risk.

5 MINDBLOWING & MINDF**KING STARS!!!

description

"we now refer to the males as ‘Hydes’ and the females as 'Jekylls’."

Around the world, among us, live some people with extraordinary abilities. Not the good kind of extraordinary. The Abnormals.

description

The males are called Hydes. The testosterone makes them violent and unpredictable. Vicious. Monsters.
The females are called Jekylls. They are cunning and manipulative.

Noone knows how they came to be. Freaks of nature or an experiment gone wrong? They are kept into darkness on purpose unaware of their origins. Spied upon and drugged.

The one place that may have the answers, is full of lies, manipulation and conspiracies. THE CLINIC.

description

Evil, wrong, Freaks. Are they?
This their story and they are our heroes...

Eden Colfax
description

The timid girl is long gone. She did the unthinkable and after the traumatic event of her abduction at the end of Hyde, an Urban Fantasy, she combined herself with the best "features" of her Jekyll

Chastity. The sister she’d never wanted, the world’s worst best friend, the woman men wanted and women wanted to murder.

and she emerged a winner and a fighter.
She is now determined, desicive, strong and in love.

Love-making. Making love. Huh. That’s not quite right. Not what it really was. Because you can’t ‘make’ something that’s already there.

So much that she's ready to sacrifice everything, even herself to save her man. Can she accept, though, that maybe he can't be saved??

Mitchell Turner
My poor, poor Mitch.

description

His torment knows no boundaries. He lost everything, even his humanity piece by piece.
Bitter and more sarcastic than ever, he relies on his twisted sense of humour to keep him "afloat" and not succumb to his Hyde until he finds again, what he should never have sent away. His love, his sanity, his Eden.

“Come back to me, Eden. Be alright. If you’re alright, then I’ll…I’ll…” You’ll what, asshole? He’d love her. He’d love her so hard she might get smothered by it. He’d be with her…until the next time she really needed him.

And Eden? Damn it. He didn’t just trust her, he needed her. Like ice needs winter, he needed her to exist.

But, will he be able to accept the changes in her and that the new is even better than the old?

description

Or this will be the biggest betrayal of his full of deceit life?

Help sometimes comes in all forms and sizes and it doesn't get any better than an ex-cop with his own agenda, tormented by his own nightmares and willing to do anything.

Landon

“We need a cage. How many places do you know that have cages? It’s either the zoo or the brothel—take your pick. But I sure as hell am not bunking with a monkey while Hyde is fighting it out to be king of the beasts.”

This book's biggest surprise. I admit I underestimated his role in the first book. But in this one, he shines. He saves lives, sanities and his constant bickering with Mitch, adds spice, depth and a healthy dose of reality in this dark story.

“I don’t know if you guys are going to kill each other, or fuck each other, or fucking kill each other, or kill each other fucking. I really don’t. But whichever it is, just get it over with so we can all have some goddamned sleep.”

I would probably need 3 reviews to properly describe every character in this incredible and complex tale. I can assure you that they are a fantastic bunch! Misguided fathers, innocent kids, miserable friends, sociopaths and liars are all here, amazingly written by Lauren Stewart. I've said it before in my review for Hyde, an Urban Fantasy, but I'll say it again:

description

This second book is darker than the first. We are drawn deeper in the mystery of the Abnormals. The web of the conspiracy is stickier than ever and the lies never-ending.
I hurt along with our heroes. Their passion and sensuality are smoldering, even though the sex scenes are pretty tame. I felt their despair that even if you finally accept love, it isn't always enough and peace is sometimes impossible.
The cliffhanger (yeap there is one...) leaves you breathless and with more questions than ever, but also excited.

WE GET ANOTHER BOOK!!
description
And we definitely need it, in order to explore this dark and twisted world....

CAN'T FREAKING WAIT!!

OMG YAAAAAAAAAY !!!!!!

Photobucket

Edit : 27/dec/2012

“There’s only one thing I want that someone else controls,” he said. “And that’s you.” When he moved, it was towards her, not away. “I want to be with you, Eden. Just once, and then you can go. One more chance to be inside you. Shit, I want you so badly. Like, embarrassingly badly. Like, ‘I’m about to come in my pants just standing five feet away from you’ badly.”

Photobucket

Cue - Down with the sickness - Disturbed

To say that this book was just good , would be a huge understatement of the year ! I'm shocked with the outcomes and will almost collapse in anticipation of the next book any moment now for sure ! I can't describe my emotions ...

Photobucket

just can't ..... !

THE STORY :

Jekyll begins exactly or more like 2 weeks after .

They ....

She ....

Photobucket

Well ...

Ummmmm ...

Photobucket

You see ............

He was like ...

Actually ......

She thought .....

It .....

Photobucket

Everything is sort of connected to the events from book 1 , and you'll just have to read that in order to understand the events that takes place in this book . Soooo

Photobucket

THE CHARACTERS :

EDEN : Boy oh boy , Eden is one of my favorite kick-ass heroines of 2012 !

“Despite what you may think, you can’t control me. You need to understand that I’m not a damsel in distress, this isn’t a fairytale, and you sure as hell are no Prince Charming.”

I loved how determined she was to get Mitch the help that he needed , even if that meant losing her own freedom and getting stuck at a lab as a lab rat !!! And her love for him .... oh my , this songs describes it the best - I follow rivers - Lykke Li .
Sometimes you have to take drastic measures to save someone you love , even if that meant walking away from that person . And Eden , well , she ... she makes choices that make it look like as though she has the situations under control , but * Shakes my head * ..

MITCH : Mitch .. Mitch .. Mitch ... I spent atleast 50% of my time shouting and cursing my kindle app for Mitch's behavior . Could I blame him for all the negativity that was swirling in his head ? Maybe not . Understanding his past , and how difficult the monster in him has made his life , I could understand his reasons for pushing people away , but really ! You have got to tire out of that shit ! But Mitch ....... Noooooooooooooooo , he just doesn't .

“So I’ll die.” He backed away. Creating another void between them. “I’m half-dead anyway. I’ve been half-dead my entire life. With a four-day reprieve when we were together. Then right back into a walking coma when you left. When I told you to leave. Fuck!” This time he didn’t, or couldn’t, stop himself. He took his anger out on the wall, but she knew who he was really punishing— himself. As if all of this was his fault. “So now I’m saying it again, but this time run farther— out of Florida. Out of the States. Go. Run for it. I’ll give you whatever money you need. Just leave. Go where they can’t find you. Have babies. A dog. A… normal man.”

But I love the man , seriously ! He has a very ... uniquely weird sense of humor that makes you wanna snort out loud !

“Why do you constantly need to prove that you have the biggest dick?”
He squinted slightly. “I’m a man. That’s a basic requirement.”

LANDON : Detective Landon was hell bent on busting Mitch's ass in Hyde , but his role takes a complete 360 and he ends up being the only ally Mitch can trust with a blindfold on ... Pfffft , yeah right ! Well , no relationship is free of doubts and insecurities . And lets just say their relationship also undergoes difficult trials and tribulations ! Oh now I'm making it sound all over-dramatic ! .. Seriously just read the book , you'll find out how odd they are together ..

“Give me your hands, Turner,” Landon said.
Mitch sneered, holding his hands out. “Now you want to hold my hand, Landon? I thought you didn’t want anyone knowing about our love.”

There are certain other important characters too , but giving them away would be giving away too much from the story , so we'll just leave it at this .

MY THOUGHTS :

I absolutely loved this book ! Right from page 1 , it starts off with a bang and manages to keep you glued to the edge of your seat . Mitch is a royal mess with no hopes at all . His Hyde , trying to claw his way out is making him do stuffs that are downright dangerous . Not to him , but others ! He is a total bad ass , and acts his part by getting into fights

Photobucket

and if that doesn't help then :

Photobucket

He is on the verge of self destruction I tell ya !

Eden is a surprise package and the soul of this book ! Every time Mitch pushed her away by saying

Photobucket

She was like , no you are not ! She tried showing him that there's a way for things to get better !

The steam factor in this book is HOT HOT HOT !!!! Even though the sex scenes aren't that very descriptive Lauren Stewart manages to raise the room temperature by some really steamy dialogue exchange between Mitch and Eden .

Photobucket

“I know I do.” He didn’t stop talking, didn’t stop moving forward. “I want to be inside of you so bad, it hurts.” The only wall between them was built of desire, of heat. And, with every step, he pushed it deeper into her. “I want to press you up against these goddamned bars, lift your skirt and take you. Hard. But that won’t be enough, will it?” His eyes scoured her body, the intensity exposing her, branding her skin. “You’re so goddamn hot. And I know exactly how you feel inside. It’s burned into my mind— every thrust, every time your body tightened around my cock as you came. I need to feel that again. Right now. I want to be so fucking deep inside you, we might never come apart again.”

Photobucket

Photobucket

Mmmmmmmm Mitch , I wouldn't mind that , you know ... It could be a lot of fun ....

Photobucket

* Clears throat *

And then the cliff hanger ! God , I just cant wait to read book 3 ! Damn it when is it coming out !! I want it like now !!!!!

Lauren Stewart packs a explosive sequel that will leave its readers with their jaws dropped ! Some answers are revealed but most aren't ! What , who and why does The Clinic exist ??? What's going to be Mitch's fate ? Will Landon get what he wants ? Can Eden save Mitch or is it too late ?? Questions will be answered .... But the wait is definitely gonna be a killer !!!!

This is a must read ! If you love Urban Fantasy's and have not read this series yet , you sure are missing out ! GRAB IT NOW !!!!

Eden's and Mitch's story continues...
An incredible read!
I just new that I'll be sorry reading this book before the ext one is out! Now I'll just have to suffer until it does! That's exactly as I felt when I finishes Hyde!!! Grrrr!!!

The story starts exactly where it finished in Hyde.

Eden is in The Clinic's hands .
She's not a shy, modest, sweet Eden anymore...
She's not a slutty, uber-sexy, provocative Chastity...

She's a new, improved Eden!

... and she's a mission!

Going back to Mitch and saving him from succumbing forever to his Hyde.

But Mich is not convinced. He misses his Eden. He doesn't was this new Eden... To him she's not even Eden... She's not HER. HE doesn't love her...

But...

Until...

HE DOES

Ohhh.. so many things are happening in this book!
It starts slow. It builds. It explodes!
Go and read it!

No, WAIT!!!

Wait until the next one comes out!

Because there's a HUGE cliffhanger!!!

3 stars? 4 stars? 3? 4? I don't know! I'm still giddy from the grand finale, so my judgement may be a little impaired. But no, this wasn't a 4 star read for me. Let's settle on 3.

Okay, so overall, I was rather disappointed. For a good two thirds of the book, the story draaaaagged. I felt like it could have been compressed to half its length and it still would have been more than enough. The main themes were:
1. Eden being locked up
2. Mitch switching between wallowing in self-hatred and in self-pity
3. Eden's eyes
4. The sweetest, most hysterical bromance ever!

The biggest change for the worse compared to the prequel was Mitch's character. In Hyde, I loved him. He was a stubborn SOB, a pain in the ass, sarcastic and shrewd. But when Eden got herself kidnapped at the end of the book, she apparently not only took Mitch's heart with her, but his balls, too. God, he was annoying. Not all of the time, mind you. But each time he would start whining about how he wasn't able to protect her, what a terrible monster he was, and how he couldn't trust anyone... wah wah wah! Man the fuck up, dude!
Eden, on the other hand... She was great! I already liked her in book one, but now, after somehow merging with her Jekyll, Chastity, she was like a better, stronger version of her former self. She was pretty bad-ass. No surprise, she had Mitch's balls, after all.
Speaking of balls... I freaking loved Landon! What a fabulous side kick. One of my favorite things about this book was the bromance between Mitch and Landon. Their bickering, their joking, their teamwork, I loved it. Oh, what I wouldn't give to have some sort of spin-off for Landon. *sigh*
“Thanks,” he said gruffly, walking next to the only man in the world who might actually deserve his trust. “I’m glad I didn’t kill you.”
“Oh, please. It would never happen. I’d have come back and beaten your ass.”
“You think so, huh? You fight like a girl.”
“You mean like the girl who saved your ass a few days ago? That kind of girl?”
“Nah. You fight like a girl being tickled by her boyfriend.”
Landon coughed into his hand. “Hate to break it to you, Turner. But you’re not my boyfriend.”
“So you keep saying. But you’re making a big mistake - I’m a hell of a lay.”
“I know you’re lying, but thank god I’ll never know for sure.”

But, let's not get carried away. The whole reunion thing with Mitch after having escaped from The Clinic was terribly frustrating. Nothing happened for such a long time, other than Mitch being an obnoxious jerk, Eden trying to win back his trust, and Landon... being Landon, meaning awesome. Could have done without that part.

However, the final third of the book was just as perfect as I knew it would be. I love Stewart's way to build up the suspense to the most thrilling finales. And, unfortunately, the most frustrating cliffhangers.

Though I really didn't love this book, I'm still totally hooked. I need to know how Eden and Mitch's story ends, so yeah, I'll definitely be reading book 3.

Oh my god. I LOVED this book. I mean, book one was good - but this, this was in a league of it's own.

Eden is kick-ass. She has integrated her two halves, and is now the best of both worlds.

Photobucket

Proof. The proof was literally staring her in the face. She wasn't just a new-and-improved version of herself - she was a totally different self. There was no war to fight, no struggle to survive. Part of her was already gone, and she had no idea how big that part was. Replaced by someone whose eyes started back at her.

Mitch is not doing as well. His Hyde is getting stronger, and he's in danger of loosing himself forever. He doesn't know how to deal with the new Eden.

"Because until I knew her," he said, "I thought that beauty was something you touch. It's not. It's something you feel. Something you know is in front of you even when your eyes are closed. And now, all I see is darkness. And I won't believe that she's returned until the light comes back on."

Oh my, the angst, the drama, the self flagellation and self loathing, the hopelessness. Mitch is on a mission of self-sacrifice.

Oh, but the beauty in between. The love between Mitch and Eden, is amazing. Epic. Heartbreaking and hopeful all at once.

And if he wanted anything, he wanted to fight for her. If she believed he could, then he could. Sometimes it's that simple. What your love wants, you give her - no matter what you have to do. So he didn't close his eyes, didn't shy away from who she was, because that would have been weak. And he couldn't have her think him weak. He would be strong...for her.

Despite the danger and uncertainty, I couldn't help but get all wrapped up in the warm and fuzzies.

Photobucket

That is, until the end...

"I love you, Eden. Always," were the last words he spoke.

Photobucket

All, I have to say, if book three best be out soon!!!

It’s been awhile since I read Hyde, so I was worried I’d get lost, but I was able to pick up Jekyll with no problem. I really enjoyed both of these books. Jekyll picks right up where we left off in Hyde.

One of my favorite things about this book is the way Eden changes. She goes from meek to kick ass. I love the way she merges herself with Chastity and finally accepts that part of herself. Mitch has always been a favorite hero of mine, and he was fantastic in Jekyll too.

I think what I love most though is the story. This is one of the most unique Urban Fantasies. We’ve seen vampires and werewolves done to death, even zombies and fae are popular now. I love that Lauren Stewart took a classic and changed it into a contemporary. It’s amazing.

I think everyone should read this book—but you have to read Hyde first.

Loved this book!

Yes it drove me bonkers & the plot is intense, but it is so original and brilliant that at the end of the day all I can do is give it a slow clap & rec the hell out of it.

But yes, totally intense. I didn't know this was going to be a trilogy so the ending caught me off guard. But I CAN NOT wait for the next book.

I love the universe that Lauren Stewart created and I'm totally bummed that I have to step away from it. It is hard to write very much without being spoilery, so just trust me & read these books. You won't regret it.

This book is my favorite out of the trilogy it gave me a bit of everything I was looking for.. romance, scifi, adventure, action ,and pulled your emotions as a reader. I still think the series is a great one but it suffers because I think the writer spent too much time trying to make a trilogy so there are plently of chapters I wish didn't exist but im glad I stumbled upon this series and probably wouldn't have continued from book 1 but my friend and I challenged eachother to read the book/series and I am glad I did !

When the devil tells you to stop struggling, do you? No.

There was no battle she wouldn’t win, not even with herself. And if he wanted anything, he wanted to fight for her. If she believed he could, then he could. Sometimes it’s that simple. What your love wants, you give her – no matter what you have to do.

Seriously, this series and this author are AhFrigginMazing!! Such a unique story and gripping?! Oh yeah. From page one it grabs a hold of you and will NOT let go.

**contains spoilers from Hyde**
Jekyll picks up on the coattails of Hyde. After Mitch sends Eden packing, Landon delivers the news that she has been taken. They know that she is being held by The Clinic and they now know what has been done to them over the years by those they trusted most at The Clinics orders. What Mitch doesn’t know is where The Clinic is located and he is driving himself crazy trying to find Eden.

Mitch was stewing in his cage. A slow simmer of pain, disappointment, and – hell, why not – a huge motherfucking dash of plain, old anger. When he’d told Eden to go away, that they could never be together, he hadn’t expected this. Someone taking her was not acceptable. It was – shit. Unimaginable torture. Except he was living it, not imagining it.

And on top of all that, Mitch hasn’t been taking the serum that helps keep Hyde at bay since Jolies death. Mitch’s hold on his humanity is slipping, Hyde is pushing his way thru more often and he knows it’s only a matter of time before he’s unable to come back from a transformation.

Hyde was so fucking unpredictable now, Mitch spent at least half of each day in the cage. The other half was spent searching for her, cursing the motherfucking world, and fighting off Hyde’s tugs until he couldn’t do it anymore. Then he got to hurry back to his prison cell or shoot himself up again, depending on how bad-off he was. Good times, good times.

Meanwhile, Eden wakes up after a two week nap at The Clinic a completely different person.

“My name is Alexandra Bertram, and I’m the facility clinical behaviorist-slash-administrator. You can call me Alex.”
“Gee, thanks. You can call me ‘Kiss My Ass’.” She blinked. It was as if Mitch had replaced her tongue with his. And it had happened like it was a habit. Which it wasn’t.

After finding out Carter, whom she thought loved her, has been deceiving her all this time is a hard pill to swallow. She doesn’t know who to trust or what to believe.

Lies on top of lies on top of dead bodies. How could she tell what was true anymore?

She’s also hurting from Mitch’s rejection of her. She loves him and knows deep down he loves her too, but she also knows he’s too afraid to give them a try and she’s not quite sure where that leaves them.

Mitch. Even hearing his name hurt. He was a part of her, even more than Chastity. He’d reached a place inside her that she had never known existed. Reached it, caressed it, loved it, until she’d been reborn with a feeling of worth and love. And then he’d tossed that part of her like a dirty sock, shut her out, just when she’d realized that she never wanted to live without it. Because of fear. Fear of himself – of what he was, of who he was.

She’s also struggling with the fact that is seems as though Chastity is trying to take over her body and it takes every ounce of strength she has to fight it.

Chastity. The sister she’d never wanted, the world’s worst best friend, the woman men wanted and women wanted to murder. Chastity was not only in the room, the bitch was in Eden’s mind and body, occupying space that wasn’t hers. Not while Eden was awake. And she couldn’t have it. Not if Eden could stop her.

And The Clinic wants something from her, but seeing through all their lies isn’t as easy as it seems. She knows they are keeping things from her, a lot of things, but what?

“Why are you making this so hard, Eden? It doesn’t have to be.”
“The next time you’re almost killed, kidnapped by armed men, and then wake up in the enemy’s extra bedroom, Let me know how you feel.”

The only thing she can focus on is getting back to Mitch. Even though he rejected her, he needs her, though he may not realize his life depends on it.
One of my favorite parts was the banter between Mitch & Landon, sooo friggin funny!!

“How are you feeling?” Landon asked him. “Cause you look like shit.”
“Of course I look like shit, asshole – I just had electric shock therapy. What’s your excuse?”

“I know a place they don’t know about. Police raid right before I got canned.”
“Where?” Mitch growled. “Damn it, cop, if you say it’s a crack-house that you cleared out, I’m going to kick your ass. I’m not in the mood to fight off a junkie for a place to sleep.”
“It was a brothel. Nice place. You’ll like it.”
“Are you fucking kidding me? Great. But if I get woken up by a near-sighted john who doesn’t know the place was shut down, I’m not taking responsibility for my actions.”

“’He who does not trust enough, will not be trusted’, asshole.”
“Thanks for the tip, Confucius.”
“That was Lao-tzu, not Confucius.”
“Oh, right. Lao-tzu. Wasn’t he the guy who also said, ‘He who has nothing interesting to say should shut the fuck up’?”
Landon laughed. “I think that was someone else.”

Just as hott and funny as B1 with lots of action, surprises, deceit & heartbreak. Some awesome characters and some truly horrific villains. All rounded out with another cliffhanger that would leave me clawing my eyes out if I didn’t already have B2 on my Kindle. Check out this author and this series, some brilliant stuff, you won’t be disappointed.

Did she know how she affected him? How he could barely think when she was around – naked or not? She brought him comfort, satisfaction. Not only in a sexual way, but also in a life-might-not-be-as-absolutely-terrible-as-I-thought way. In a holy-shit-I-want-to-stay-right-here-and-live-this-every-day-of-my-life way.

I have been impatiently waiting for the sequel to Hyde. Jekyll was released yesterday and I immediately put what I was reading down and proceeded to read this book. This is a perfect addition to the series.
Jekyll picks up immediately where Hyde left off and all I can say is WOW! Ms. Stewart you have done it again. I couldn’t put this book down and found myself on the edge of my seat as I turned each page of this book.
We are immersed in a story of betrayal, friendship, and love as we watch Eden and Mitch both fight for love, trust, happiness and their souls by doing whatever it takes, no matter the cost and to right the wrongs for who they love.
Ms. Stewart has a way with making you feel something for every single character that you encounter in this book, I’m not saying that they are all warm and fuzzy feelings but they are feeling none the less. I enjoyed learning the things that we did in this book it added a very nice back story to what we already know and the additional characters that were added made way for an exciting story that I was just enthralled with. This book will definitely join Hyde on my list of my favorite books.

Book 1 was super amazing & I loved it even though it ended in a cliffhanger - which I can't express enough how much I don't like them, BTW. However, book 2 was a bit of a disappointment (comparatively speaking), especially since I was anticipating its release so much. I like the story line... It's a lot different than other books that I've read, so it was a pretty refreshing read. I just felt that, although the book was good, it was extremely slow paced with a lot more "filler" than moving forward with the story. There was no closure in it - not really many questions were answered that have been lingering since book 1. Then, it ends, in yet, another cliffhanger. Again, I love the storyline & the characters are great - especially Mitch, who finds humor in every situation. I was laughing at times, when what was going on in the book, really wasn't a laughing matter. However, I just wish that I felt like something actually happened in this book & it didn't feel like it was just a filler book to get to book 3. Having said all that, I will continue with the series. I see some of where the author is going with it & I find it interesting.

Well it was def 3.5 for me. Swing up or down. I was going to swing up just because I wanted it to be good but ended up going with how I really felt.

I was soo excited for this book. The first book was cool world building, a neat plot with lots of stuff to be uncovered and I loved most of the characters. I was hoping that we would continue along with that in this book. Eden totally stole the show for me in this book. Her character became even more likable and was the only one in the story that wasn’t pissing me off. Her development was wasted because Mitch was away from her for sooo much of the story which is really what I was looking forward to seeing in book 2. Not only didn’t Mitch’s character progress it definitely regressed. In the first book there was just enough one liners to entertain but the story moved the book along. I got bombarded by a self-loathing Mitch that had to constantly make a joke out of everything. To be honest I really think that this has the making to be two Awesome books but is being stretched into more than it should.

The world is so cool and there is so much potential for a great story I will definitely be moving on with the series.

If I could rate this book 10 stars, I would!

AMAZING! I read this in one sitting. The whole book kept you wanting more. I absolutely love the banter between the characters, keeps it funny while your heart races because there is so much action too! And the chemistry between Mitch and Eden is where the heart is in the story. I love them as a couple. Seriously, EVERYONE should read this book. Absolutely freaking fantastic. I cannot wait for the next book.

Jekyll lacked some of the umph that Hyde had. There was a point in the story where it just dragged for me. Yes, Eden was the superhero....as she should be since she is the Jekyll and this is about her. But there were too many unanswered questions for me. At this point, even with all the unanswered questions, I don't know that I'll continue with the series. I mean, how much more can the author carry this thing out.

I absolutely adored 'Hyde' and set about purchasing this book immediately. I'm pleased to say I just bought the third.
The author creates three dimensional relatable characters. Her writing style makes for easy and enjoyable reading.
Her plot contains everything a good book should; thrill, suspense, romance, sex, turmoil, mystery. It takes skill to write such a rich plot. Stewart has most certainly succeeded. I can't recommend enough.

This second book certainly seems to have helped me clarify where I stand with this book series! Especially after my uncertainty with the first book and rating wise. The storyline seems firmer, slow in area but that's predictable and anticipated but pick up more towards the latter of the book. The sarcasm and witty remarks even made me smile which of course hooked me more onto the book. I look forward to how the last book will be brought to a close!

I knew this book was going to be great but I didn't expect the ending that happened. I loved every minute of this book and was really feeling with Mitch about losing himself and then feeling like he had lost Eden too. I was very emotionally invested in this book and got everything that I wanted from it. I just hope that the third one will give me a great ending.

I must say, Jekyll surpassed my expectations. I was a little disappointed with Hyde, but I decided to continue with the series and I am so glad I did. Jekyll was great, it had comedy, action, sex, and twists and turns. Mitch and Landon are hilarious together. This book just solidified Mitch as one sexy mofo..

I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down.
The determination, the unlikely friendships and the distrust makes this an amazing story where everyone trusts no one, even the ones they seek help from.
It’s really humorous at times too with great one liners and innuendos.
This is book two in a 3 book series and like book one, it has a cliffhanger. No worries though, this series has already been published. I can’t wait to start the last book in this series. This is a different paranormal/shifter romance and I’m totally loving it!
Note to author Lauren Stewart:
This series would make a great audiobook. 😉 Just sayin’
I totally recommend this book/series!!

I finished Hyde and literally went and downloaded Jekyll because I couldn't WAIT!!! I HAD TO START THIS BOOK! I fell in love with the story, the characters and the idea of this series. Again YES I am a Literature nerd so this book screamed to me, but you don't need to be one to enjoy this series.

Oh so I don't wanna spoil anything but yes a main character does die in Book 1 from Hyde...whose Hyde you ask??? Hahah gotta read it. We then learn that females have a "Jekyll" where the males have a "Hyde" per the director of The Clinic. Yes my friends we get a glimpse of The Clinic. Are they good? Are they bad? HRMMM that is for you to decide. I have my thoughts but again...don't wanna spoil any. We also get to know the detective from the first book a lot better this novel. He is very intriguing to me. I like that he also has a grudge against The Clinic.....*wiggles eyebrows*...hrmmmmmmmm interesting I know. Have I peeked your interest???? I know I have!!!

Ok so Chastity/Eden come to "merge" and can live together. The Clinic has never seen a person do this so they feel Eden is "special". They want her to help get Mitch (yeah we are friends so I can call him that) under control and agree on doping. She is desperate to be with him and so she agrees because she needs to see him. We also find out about Eden's parents and boy was it a shocker!!!

Mitch is what I like to call "A Hot Ass Mess". He can't live or function without Eden. He has never been so out of control and his Hyde is running him. He is doing all her can to survive while trying to find her. Well when they do BOOM go the sparks and *grins* the pants. Unfortunately Mitch is unaware of Eden/Chastity's merging and so he thinks he was duped by Eden's Jekyll AGAIN!!! Mitch is an ANGRY boy....I giggle because he reminds me of the Hulk at times and I was yelling 'No Smash Hulk!!" as he trashes his house.

Holy Hell people this book is a slow start but it packs one hell of a finish. The secrets you learn about in this book make me insane. I need book 3 like right this second. The book ends with a major cliffhanger. All I can say is the tears were freely flowing the last 75 ebook pages. I kept messaging the author because my stomach was in knots. I cannot saw enough! This book is absolutely amazing and 5 stars isn't enough!!!

THANK GOD FOR EPILOGUES !!!!
LAUREN!! what were you thinking, leaving the poor reader in a state like like that!
Thank god you gave us an epilogue, or I would have had to come hunt you down! lol

Jekyll, picks up right where Hyde left off after Eden was taken. The boys, Mitch and Landon are working together to find Eden and bring her home.

There are several surprises and if you haven't gathered it yet a shocking ending.
Loads of sarcastic smart remarks from our two boys, and the new improved Eden.
a great continuation to a great story, hanging out for...The Strange Case......
Here's a couple of my favorite quotes...

Landon smacked the steering wheel with his fist. “I don’t know if you guys are going to kill each other, or fuck each other, or fucking kill each other, or kill each other fucking. I really don’t. But whichever it is, just get it over with so we can all have some goddamned peace.”

She threw her head back and he devoured her neck, tasting her, remembering her, knowing her all over again. His mind filled with memories—happy ones of the days they’d spent wrapped around each other.
Letting the taste of her linger on his tongue like a fine wine that he was never going to let go of.
“Wait,” she whispered into his hair breathlessly, her voice heavy with lust. “Wait. I need you to tell me something.”
“Anything,” he said as his teeth glided along her collarbone.

Landon smirked. “So then, nothing’s new. You’ve never been any good for me.”
“I could fucking kiss you right now, you know that?”
“You even try, and the only way you’ll be able to stop anyone from going through that door is as an
unconscious lump on the floor that they have to hurdle over.”
“No kissing, got it. Shall we go find the key to Emerald City and get her the hell out of here?”
“No skipping either.”

“Relax, cop. It’s just a bluff…mostly.” He slapped Landon’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, I’m also totally
okay with you shooting whoever you want to. How many bullets do you have left?”
“Not many.” Landon tapped his holster. “We’re going to have to hand-to-hand it.”
“How many times have I told you? I’m not giving you a hand-job!”
“And how many times have I told you that your jokes aren’t helpful?”

The Yin to Hyde's Yang. We get to know Eden/Chastity much as we visited with Mitch/Hyde in the original story with one major difference....Eden doesn't seem as interesting. Throughout the first few chapters there was rehashing of previous events, longing for Mitch, reminders to be less trusting, how much she loved Mitch, and the distrust of her environment. Mitch couldn't stop moping between thoughts of how he shouldn't be alive and didn't deserve Eden and how he wanted her. and how he wanted her. Throughout the middle chapters there was rehashing of previous events, longing for Mitch, reminders to be less trusting and the distrust of her environment. Mitch couldn't stop moping between thoughts of how he shouldn't be alive and didn't deserve Eden and how he wanted her.. And through the last few chapters there was rehashing of previous events, longing for Mitch, reminders to be less trusting and the distrust of her environment. Mitch couldn't stop moping between thoughts of how he shouldn't be alive and didn't deserve Eden and how he wanted her. Pity parties don't really make for a pleasant read.
Looking past the repetition, it was revealed that the "condition" both Eden/Chastity and Mitch/Hyde suffer from afflicts others and that Chastity is known as a "Jekyll" - the female Hyde. More was learned about the clinic as the depth of betrayal discovered in book one is justified. New friends showed their true value when times became extremely trying. Just as the action adventure set piece was really taking me away -- cliffhanger!
The storyline (beyond the repetition)wasn't bad. Actually it was fairly good - just not really compelling for this reader. I have every intention of reading book 3 of the series when its available. Overall I was slightly disappointed that this installment had such a case of sophomore slump that it seemed to be fighting its sophomore-hood and felt quite middle-ish.

4.5 FREAKING STARS

gosh what a ride....suspense nonstop!

Dear Lauren, you did it again.. you left my mouth hang wide open by how this book ended... In this review I will mostly write about my reactions and less about the story itself (you def need to read Hyde first to understand).

This book wasn't filled with sexual tension as the previous book was because of the different location (The Clinic), but god damn, it was filled with suspense!! I dont know how many times certain ppl, the one working for The Clinic, pissed me off by their actions/words, or that I wish I could slap them- for real! During reading I got impatient because yeah Lauren, ur writing is freaking awesome and I was sitting on the edge, nervous as hell, to find out who's behind everything. I also was nonstop begging that Mitch aka Hyde and Eden aka Jekyll will make it, find back together, and fight those ppl.

Yeah this book held many surprise and it was plain awesome!! It had so many twists that when you thought 'aaah it'll def be like this or that' big fat nope, Ms Stewarts took a total different turn.... guess you can tell, I had mostly no idea what's happening next.

Mitch's character helped a lot to left me hanging. His moods, thanks to his inner Hyde, made me trip. His actions, jeez sometimes I could slap his handsome face, for acting irrational!! Eden tried and tried to make him realize but nope, Mr Stubborn thought and did differently.

When i thought I know how it'll end, what did Lauren do, she ended again with a cliffhanger...gosh woman, I love you but it drove me nuts!!thank goodness a third book will come out this summer and yeah i'll be one of the first to read it.

Thanks again Lauren for such a great book, I loved it, even tho it drove me nuts, I truly did!! Like i told you on Twitter, you have a new fan :)

I can only recommand this series, it's different with many surprises, a hot Mitch, beautiful Eden and a twist of sexy Urban Fantansy

So many questions... unanswered... AGAIN!

I thought this one would provide the answers, but it just posed more questions without really answering anything. Pretty genius for the author to do that so we are compelled to read the next book.

I did find myself liking Mitch more, even though he is supposed to be a bit darker since his Hyde is closer to the surface. His twisted humor is charming.

But what I really loved is Mitch and Landon's bromance. It reminded me of the relationship between characters on one of my favorite shows where two unlikely people forge a friendship so deep, they would do anything for one another. I love a good bromance.

So, now I'm settling in to read the third installment of this wicked tale and hope it doesn't drag like the second one did. I felt myself become easily distracted away from seemingly unnecessary details or skimming past long bouts of internal struggles. It was a little painful to see so much negative inner dialogue.

Hopefully, all questions get answered and they save the proverbial day or this will be such a waste.

Like the first one, this book presents me with somewhat of a conundrum when it comes to rating it: On the one hand, it frustrated the hell out of me - but on the other, the story is just so damn intriguing that it's impossible not to continue reading. Mitch has got to be one of, if not the, most frustrating character(s) I've ever come across - there were moments when he pissed me off so much that I very likely would have thrown the book against the nearest wall if that hadn't meant throwing my precious Kindle. Eden is a much stronger character here than in the first one, but she still has her annoyingly naive and stupid moments. I'm very glad Landon got such a major role in this one, since he's pretty much the only character I really like and never wanted to hop into the book to strangle. That being said, I will certainly read the next book when it's out because I just have to know how the story continues - yep, it's that kind of book.
