Hrant Matevosyan (Հրանտ Մաթևոսյան, Грант Матевосян, Hrant Matevossian) was born in Ahnidzor village near Alaverdi, Lori in 1935. He studied at the village school. He received his higher education in Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute after Khachatur Abovyan. Later Matevosyan graduated from Moscow Higher Screenwriting Courses. He began his literal activity in the 1960s.

Matevosyan is the only of Armenian novelists, who was awarded the State Prize of the former USSR. His works have been translated into different languages.

Hrant Matevosyan died in 2002.

Мога твърдо за заявя, че спокойно може да се замени разказаното за Армения с действителността в България. Всичко - герои, обстановка, емоции е едно към едно. Обрисувал е арменското село почти като българското. С много мъка и тъга в думите си. Бил е пророк! Закъснял пророк!
