I didn’t know what it meant to be psychotic or why I got overwhelmed a lot in crowds. I learned how to manage mania much better than in the past. And now I can see that I’m not the only one who wakes up with depression. Julie is funny and so willing to say what many people won’t. This book talks about the stuff we go through that never gets put into books. The book is like reading fables. It’s not overwhelming, but you really learn a lot.”

Her former partner Ivan was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1994- and she was diagnosed a year later. Their experiences together form a basis for all of her books.
Julie knows that work, money and relationships are the main struggle for people with bipolar disorder - and her goal is to help people find stability in all three areas.
I can relate so much to what Julie writes about, the good and the bad. Now that I’ve been relatively well in my bipolar struggle for several years, I truly believe I can reach the small goals I’ve set for myself.
This was the most straight forward, clear thinking, insider information book i have read about being Bipolar. I loved it. Get your STUFF together and read this book.
Super short, more like a mini-magazine than a book. Motivational tone. Helpful. Most importantly...I saw myself a lot. And thought "oh...that's NOT normal?" It's a weird feeling, seeing more confirmation that you are indeed mentally ill. I think it would be a big process to get to the positive-outlook mindframe that the author has. One day I'll get there. I have to learn what i'm dealing with first.
I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder 23 years ago. I suffer from major panic attacks. This book was so very helpful! I'm grateful that this book taught me how to know my triggers and how to ward them off. I no longer feel guilty to ask for help from friends and family.
I don't even want to count this as a "book" because it was only 35 pages, but.... eh... whatever. Everything rang true, and it gives me hope for the future.
nice flow. feels like you're having a conversation. short and to the point. real life scenarios and not as much medical blather as these books usually have.
