FOUND picks up seamlessly from where MISSING left the Davis and Sanders families, tying up loose ends and adding extra twists and dimensions to their stories. Certainly, MISSING should be read first to enable the reader to appreciate the richness of the characters and the amazing way God worked to interwine their lives and bring closure to griefing families of missing soldiers. We are reminded, as I said in my first review, that some things don’t change with time, like love between husband and wife and within family, the grace of God-- and the ugliness of war.

FOUND examines the collateral damage done by war and the corrosive effect of secrets between husband and wife, even with the intention of protecting the other. Doug and Molly, who learned the hazards of such secrets in MISSING, now in FOUND are forced to deal with the consquences of Doug's experience in Normandy as, forty-two years later, he and his family are confronted by a new-found relative. I was not as fond of Pierre as I was the other characters and disliked the stress his presence brought Stephen and Adele, but his existence reflected another outcome of wartime. The jealousy and insecurity Stephen felt toward Adele's first husband was painful but,I would imagine, realistic; yet this too was an unexpected consequence of war. Tad and Beth's story was sweet and intense, but didn't seem to fit. I wonder what caused Ethan's unhappiness and the two hateful women's spite. Perhaps here is the start of a new book in the series.

The author wove powerful Christian messages naturally into the storylines. She didn't preach, but God's gifts of comfort, forgiveness and love were apparent. Satisfying sequel to the beautiful first book. I recommend them both.

I was given a review copy of book by the author, but the opinions expressed were solely mine.

This book had the same incessant typos and missing thoughts as the initial book in the series. It could be a problem with switching it to the e-book format. I don't know. However, the book neatly ties up each of the loose ends from the initial book, and clearly represents how each of the families continues to grow through the challenges resulting from their earlier war experiences. Not all of the details are clear. Was there a suicide? How old is this character now, in 1908? But overall, a great read.

A Wonderful Sequel

What a wonderful conclusion to the story that began in The Missing. The author leads us through hills and valleys to find closure for those left behind. This is a story not to be missed!
