To say I'm confused about how I feel about this book would be an understatement......the story didn't go exactly as I thought it would. Does that make it a bad story because I didn't get my way? No, it does not, but there were some things missing for me with this book and that's why I'm giving this book 2.5 stars. I will say that the element of surprise was probably the best thing about this book.

Alexa and Collin were high school sweethearts who planned on spending their lives together, but one night changes everything for them. Trust is broken and things will never be the same. I get where the author is going with this, how one event can change our lives forever, how what we thought we knew to be true is not, and that something good and beautiful can come when least expected.

Now here's the reason for the 2.5 stars.....I did not connect with these characters at all, there needed to be more story line development (things just flew by way to quickly), and more descriptive writing....I couldn't picture in my head half of the things that were going on and I'm a dreamer when I read....I visualize everything.

Overall, it was an okay, quick read. This is Ashley Wilcox’s first novel, I'm looking forward to seeing her writing develop and to see where her next book takes us.

This is the story of Collin and Alexa, popular high school sweethearts. It’s the end of the school year and Collin is a senior and Alexa is a junior. They are in love and happy and although they have not discussed it, they both assume they will be together when Collin goes off to college in the Fall. Things don’t always go as planned- right before graduation, Collin has a night out with his friends and cheats on Alexa. He is immediately sorry and regrets it, but it is too late. Shortly after it happens, Alexa finds out and she is not willing to forgive him. Although he expresses his regret, Alexa no longer trusts him. Alexa is devastated at first but soon realizes she can get over Collin and meets someone else- a guy named Noel. And in time, Collin moves on and meets a girl named Summer. How they move past their broken relationship and where their new relationships go is the story of this book.

This is a great debut novel from Ashley! I loved the characters, the easy reading style and the steamy sex scenes. I really loved how the chapters switch back and forth between characters. To me that always makes a book fun. Alexa was portrayed as a strong girl. Although she was heartbroken at first, she realized she needed to move on. And Noel was such a great guy. I wondered for a while if things would last between him and Ashley since they met so quickly after the breakup. I have to say that I did feel bad for Collin. I do not condone cheating but he immediately realized what a mistake he made. Unfortunately for him, Alexa was not able to forgive. In time, he realizes that Ashley has moved on and he can too. it all worked out to a happy ending so it seems things turned out for the best. Ashley has a lot of talent as a writer and I cannot wait for her next book!

Really enjoyed this YA read!! It was heartbreaking, enlightening, romantic, thoughtful, scary and just simply sexy!! Collin and Alexa are the all American star couple in high school. After Collin is at his friends house for an out of school party, he has doubts of where his and Alexa's relationship is going to go since he is leaving for college and Alexa still has one year of high school left. So he gets a little tipsy and when Nichole appears he has a little flirty fun. Well when said friend, Travis, unintentionally spills the beans of Collins tryst, well Alexa doesn't take it so well. She leaves Collin. They are both broken hearted. Alexa makes the decision that it was for the best and she need to be single and find herself. Collin regrets his choices for quite a while, knowing that he has let the best thing that was a part of him slip through his fingers. While recovering, Alexa goes out to a club with her friends and runs into Nolan. Wowsers. There are sparks and electricity. As much as she loves Collin, she has never felt the way she feels for Nolan for Collin. They instantly hit it off!! Collin doesn't take the news so well. He goes to a nearby bar with his friends and meets Summer. He's still leary about giving up Alexa but since his chances of getting her back are dwindling, he takes a chance on going forward with Summer. After a run in with Nolan and Alexa and witnessing the unspoken love between them, he knows its over and also knows that he can't deny his feelings for Summer. Strangely the four coexist and become a sort of friends. After a freak cheer leading accident with Alexa, we see just how strong Nolan and Alexa's love is. Things proceed and well everyone gets their wonderful happy endings. Really a great quick read!!

I once again feel like I hit the jackpot! This book was such a fluffy piece of feel good I could squeal out loud! It is a series and the second book is labeled as a spin-off. I hate to say that is wrong, because I think it is. It is just another piece of the puzzle that runs almost concurrent with this one. So the story is very YA and I like that most of the time. Although there was angst and drama it was not too much to handle. I dont like when I am yelling at the Kindle telling a character "stop" or "Oh my gosh how dumb are you"? This was perfect in that respect.

The main characters Alex's and Collin were the perfect couple with so much ahead of them. Without giving the plot away they were perfect until Collin was a bad boy. Even at a young age, men and beer = douche! When all is said and done Alexa and Nicole, her work pal become pretty tight. That is a part that I thought was SO out of the box. Alexa was again perfect! She moves on and finds Nolan. He is perfect and I'd like to add Collin and Nolan were pretty mature in their dealing with each other. There was a very adult aspect to it.

I wanted it to be longer. I can vision a television series of mini series out of this. It has the potential to be an EPIC series. I'm so excited to get to book 2. I am glad that the ups and down were there and not too much angst. Great summer beach read. Grab it up. I am sure giving a few copies away.

Ok, let’s see. You have Alexa and Collin. Various other super adorable and fun random bestie characters that add flavor. Then you have Nolan and Summer. I can’t tell you the story because what fun is that. You would miss out on the goosebumps, the misty eyes moments and the moistness and Ashley would miss out on your telling her how incredibly fantastic she is. Put it to you this way, the book is about love. it starts out the way we think love should be and ends the way that love truly happens. It has romance, it has akwardness, it has kissing, it has sap, it has steamy/naughty/ohmygoddnesshowmanydirtywordscansheuseandstillbeagoodgirl moments and it is delightful. There were a few parts that were a bit rushed to me. And few parts I want to know more about. I want to know more about the crash, and the tattoos and the histories. I can’t wait to fall more in love with the characters than the taste i had of them the first time around. I do have to say i have a book crush on Nolan. But I can truly say for the first time in a long time Summer has edged her way out as my fave book bestie. She is just a wonderful chickadee that I want to have slumber parties and pillow fights with! Ashly-baby you did a great job, this bloggy chick can’t wait to see what forever brings ;^D

a total sweet treat <3

I really wanted to love this one. I liked the premise and I read the whole book, but I had several issues with it.
What I liked:
~I did like the characters. They are the reason I kept reading.
~the premise

What I needed to see more of:
~Character development
~timeline was way too rushed
~insta-love. I don't mind insta-love if it's done right. This one, for both couples felt rushed and undeveloped.

So, here's my confession. I read Waiting on Forever (book 2) before I read this one. Had I read this one first, I may not have read the second. The second book showed significant improvements in the writing and character development. Definitely check that book out. It can be read as a stand-alone.

I was extremely disappointed by this book, it wasn't how I expected it to be at all! Where I wanted it to be angsty, and romantic, it was just a bit sappy.

From reading the blurb, I expected this book to be about a guy getting back the girl he lost, however, it wasn't like that at all! It was much more about them moving on from each other, and although I can see the significance of this, for me the story seemed a little pointless. ~ It was nothing really original, just telling you about a break up as it really happens: your upset, you get on with life, you move on.

I don't have a huge opinion on the character of Alexa, she seemed like a genuinely nice person, who clearly loved her family and friends. She was quite right to do what she did when she found out Collin was with someone else, however, considering she apparently loved him so much, I found it a little hard to believe that she would so quickly fall madly in love with someone else.

Collin was an ok character but in no way swoon worthy. He was a sweet guy who wasn't afraid to show how much he loved a girl, but because of this it just didn't fit for his character. He was a popular, handsome, football player who ended up being really cheesy when it came to girls.

I didn't overly like the character of Nolan, although he seemed like a nice enough guy, he seemed to get attached to Alexa far too quickly, and I just don't think it worked. I didn't feel like I knew enough about him, as before we even get a chance to know him, he is suddenly a main character. I really hated that he always called Alexa 'doll', although I think it was meant to be endearing, I really hated it!

I want to review this story with honesty and constructive feedback. I am not a writer, however, I can appreciate all of the hard work that must go into pouring your words onto "paper". So here are my opinions:

What I liked/loved:

The author's style of writing-I enjoyed the alternating POVs and inner monologues
Storyline potential-everyone can relate to having their "first love" and many know what it feels like to be heartbroken and betrayed
The characterization-the author did a god job at expressing the thoughts of this age group
Sweet characters, cute love stories
Enjoyed that the main characters stayed in each others' lives

What I felt could use some work:

The time frames-the falling in/out of love so quickly, the "moving on" so fast (especially since this was a first love scenario that lasted for 2 years), felt like the characters found new love too quickly to be believable
Believability-see above, and also, most high school/college aged kids aren't ready to move on to marriage so fast (in my opinion)...in that sense, I felt as though there could be more to their stories
Too quick of a tying up of the ending (Epilogue)-again, see above
Also, felt as though the story diverged from what I was lead to believe where it would go, based on how it started off...felt like there needed to be "more" between the infidelity and the "moving on" for it to make more sense (or maybe I'm just a sucker for first true love...I did marry my HS sweetheart after all...BUT not until 3 yrs after college graduation :-)

I just want to say that I'm impressed with new and indie authors and the efforts put forth to get their writing in front of people! I will definitely be looking for her next book!

Planning on Forever
by Ashley Wilcox

Many of us have experienced our high school sweetheart. Where the world around you is limitless and love is ray of sunshine on the cloudy days. That was Alexa; hopelessly in love with Collin who was soon to graduate high school while she still had one year left. Alexa's heart was swollen with pride and pure love for Collin and knew they could get through anything.

Collin was mere hours from the last day of the first of his adult life. He had the perfect girl, the scholarship to play football, and loyal friends. He had everything but was plagued on what he should do when it came to Alexa. He loved her but could they hold out on the long distance?

Collin gets a tastes of the single life and it costs him the very thing he loved most, Alexa. She is brokenhearted and devastated but her friends push her to live and embrace her new single life and that is when she meets Nolan! He is ever so dreamy and their connection is utterly steamy which leaves this brokenhearted girl into a high stakes game of possibly getting hurt again.

When Collin sees first hand that saying sorry isn't working and sees that Alexa needs her space he focuses on his second love, football. In all his effort in trying to win Alexa back he realizes the mistakes he's made but cannot accept that she is embracing her new single life.

Will Collin win Alexa back? Will Alexa get hurt by Nolan? Planning on Forever will grip you and make you want to scream in outrage as well as cry in the devastation of love lost. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it for any hopeless romantic seeking a book to sink into. This book is Sparring Stepsister Approved. ~Kismet

This book was really good. It keeps you interested and wanting to know more.

“You are the love of my life, and I will never love anyone as much as I love you.”

Alexa is a sweet beautiful girl. She is a cheerleader and is dating Collin the quarterback of the football team. Everything in her life is perfect until she finds out her boyfriend cheated on her. She tries to pretend she doesn't care, but he broke her heart and trust. Then one night while she is out with her girlfriends she meets Nolan. He makes her feel things she has never felt before. Will she be able to forgive Collin? Or is Nolan the guy for her?

“You, are my love, Alexa. You, are the love of my life. There is no one else-there will never be anyone else.”

Collin is the sexy football player getting ready to head to college. His two best friends keep asking what is going to happen with Alexa and him when he goes away to college. The truth is he doesn’t know. He wants to stay with her, but he also wants to be able to live a little. So when his friend brings a bunch of hot chicks to this party he is all over one of them. The next morning he realizes that Alexa is his life and he wants no one else. He is crushed when she finds out and just leaves him. He tries everything to get her to listen to him, but she won’t. Will he be able to win her back? Or is this just his first love? Is Alexa the only girl for him?

“Things change, people change. We meet new people who affect us like we never thought someone elso could.”

This book was good. It started off really strong, and then toward the end it was rushed. It just didn't seem realistic to me. That being said it is still worth the read. I give this book 4 stars!!!

This had potential it really did. I love the theme of the story and how it strays from the typical story of getting the girl back. It's about moving on and growing up most of all.

I liked the book so much that I even overlooked the fact that it took Alexa three weeks to get over Collin after she meets Nolan. It was a nice change. I also liked the fact that Alexa seemed strong and ready to move on. One more thing I enjoyed was how Brooke became friends with the girl that Collin cheated with. She realized it wasn't Nicole who cheated but Collin. I feel so many girls blame the girl instead of the boyfriend.

Here's what I had a problem with. The fact that you are already falling in love with a guy you barely know! I really liked Nolan because he seemed mature. But then that miscommunication where Alexa catches him leading a girl out of his apartment then racing to her and declaring his feelings for her? Yeah, that was lame. I can understand him telling her how much he cares for her but telling her he loves her? Already? And Alexa saying the exact same thing was just as ridiculous. And all the while they are saying these things in front of Collin who in turn goes and asks the girl who he is dating, Summer, to be his girlfriend. See his relationship with her isn't half as lame as Alexa and Nolan's.

At least they became friends first and got to know each other a little bit.

But now that the giddy feeling I had while reading is gone. I ask myself this question, why oh why are you going to jump into another relationship? Why not just be single and 18?

I truly did enjoy this book at first. I just got put off with the whole I love you ordeal.

Planning On Forever was not what I expected by reading the description. I was expecting something a bit more angsty and for the story to develop more over the course of the writing.

I did enjoy the writing style of author Ashley Wilcox and I liked the premise of the book. But found the book to be going in one direction and then have it veer off into an entirely different direction. Without repeating the book synopsis, this story was about young love, it was romantic but the plot was not very strong or in-depth. I felt the pace of this novel was fast which did not really give the story and characters time to build. I didn’t feel the story completely developed whereas seeing Colin focusing all his attention on football wasn't complete. The characters were likeable, but not entirely believable and although teenagers I felt they were all over the place. Overall I got little snapshots of the story and characters, but I wanted full development.

This being said, I felt that the writing was lovely, the hook was almost in and I did like reading the book. This was an easy read with nice characters. This author has talent, no doubt and I liked the writing. I feel given the opportunity to let the story speak will make her talents shine even further. I look forward to reading more by Ashley Wilcox. I recommend this book if you like light reading and romance. Give it a try!

Planning on forever is a wonderful story about the things you want the most and what happens when life throws you a curve ball.

Alexa and Collin were high school sweethearts and thought that they would spend their lives together. One night changes everything for them. Colllin drunkenly crosses a line and Alexa soon finds out. They must face the consequences of one mistake and how drastically it changes their future. Trust is broken, love is tested and both their lives are changed.

Alexa and Collin both face a new futures, new friendships and relationships, and the journey is beautiful to read. I found myself cheering for the typical happy ending but as the story progressed I happily let go of that hope and was sucked into the new direction that they were both moving towards.

Did I mention the steamy sex? No? Well let me take a minute to do that now. It’s hot! This is not an erotic novel but it does have very well written love scenes that will leave you wanting more. A lot more!

Planning on Forever is Ashley Wilcox’s first novel and it’s a fantastic entrance to the writing world. She has a wonderful writing style, memorable characters and a great story. It accurately reflects the unexpected heartbreaks that life brings and the surprises that help us heal.

Ashley is currently working on her next offering, “Summer Rush” with a projected release date later this winter.

When I went into this novel, I was thinking it was going to be a sweet young adult romance. Although the characters were young, the subject and story were anything but. This is actually an erotica novel with young characters. Some of them are college students, which is no big deal to me since they are adults (and my age), but the steamy scenes involving the young high school girl is what originally threw me off. One other thing that we normally see in most novels - but I thought was really cool and different - was that our main characters didn't just stay with each other the entire novel. Most of the time, in traditional romances, there is one relationship (regardless of cheating or not). I liked that this book allowed the characters to broaden their horizons and find out if there really was someone out their that was better for them than their first love. I enjoyed reading from both Collin and Alexa's point of view. I liked seeing their own perspectives and stories, and also seeing how they intertwined. It was nice.

I'm an Ashley Wilcox fan and will continue to read her books. While posting this review, I have already read book two. I'm actually in the process of reading books three and four. I suggest checking out The Forever series if you are interesting in Contemporary Romance and Erotica.

4 out of 5 stars!

Happy Reading!

Oh first of all this book was just too fast . Relationships and the way they happen are not that fast . I mean seriously ??? Colin cheats on Alexa . I like the fact that Alexa doesn't go back to him . But she meets a man after three weeks and within a week she is in love with him ?? She just got cheated on . There should have been some part of her that is afraid to get hurt again right ?? But no . Missy here just falls head over heels in love with him . Though she was the one cheated on , their relationship did go on for 2 years . She got over Collin in three weeks time ??
And then there is Collin . I think the guy who cheats and loves his girl soooo much should at least try a little harder to get her back . I get the part of giving her space . But the moment you see her going out and having fun , you too decide to do the same ?? He was supposed to experience heart break , guilt over what he did . But NO . Here he his getting his happily ever after .

************************************************************MASSIVE *SPOILER* ALERT***************************************

First I have to say I LOVED this book !!! I am not usually one to like a book where the main couple don't stay together usually it PISSES me off !!! This book is not your typical love story I wouldn't even call it a love story I would call it a reality check... When you think sometime Is your life and that what you have grown to know over two years then he messes up and you find some one else who you are in love with you question you're faith and feelings !! There is a difference in loving someone and being in love with someone and this is what this book is about you think your whole life is the way you planed and its support to be until BAM life happens and you are questioning the love you once had and are falling in true love at the same time !!!!

So I have mixed feelings about this one. The were parts that I enjoyed a lot but there were other parts were I felt the whole story just steam rolled ahead that I was like "what the hell just happened?" I think it was supposed to be YA but if it is it should be new YA because it had a very YA feel with some very co-dependent relationships with some pretty steamy scenes for YA (not that I'm complaining it just felt like it was thrown in to make it spicy but not necessarily relevant)

In the end I did like it expect for the warp speed of the relationships and how they fell in love so quickly and engaged so so so young but in reality a lot of teenagers do move that quick and want to grow up too fast but since I am WAY over the hill :( it was hard to relate to it.

But still a cute read.

cute read. when it started I thought the story was going to end a different way. pleasantly surprised. started out with Alexa and Collin being in love and they were going to be forever and then of course he cheats and she won't listen and forgive even though she lives him. I thought it was going to go back and forth like that the whole book. then steps in Nolan and the club and his apartment and his shower and all his hottness. then Alexa realizes that she is IN love with him and feels something totally different for Nolan.

now I'm feeling sorry for Collin because he always thought that alexa would come back to him. he was going to wait for her. but in walks summer. she doesn't have as big of a tool in the book as Nolan but she is definitely Collins happily ever after.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Alexa and Collin were your typical high school couple, popular cheerleader and star football player. On the last day of Collin's senior year he flirts with infidelity putting his 2 year relationship with Alexa in jeopardy. So here I thought I was in for this book about Alexa and Collin going through all this and forgiving etc. That is so not what happens. I love that the book went back and forth between their POV's and so I knew what was going on with both of them throughout the whole book. This was a beautiful story about first love and first heartbreak and moving forward and finding your HEA. Very well done. I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series.

I enjoyed reading this and read it in just a few hours! I liked getting to read the story in different povs instead of just the one. I really liked Collin and Alexa at the very beginning of the story, but as it went on and the drama started, I kinda lost interest in Collin, but then he shocked me again and proved that he wasn't all that bad and he really loved Alexa. I kinda think that their relationships with the others progressed kind of quickly and in my opinion, they didn't really get to know each other before they started declaring their love. But other than that, it was a great read and I will definitely be reading more from Ashley Wilcox!

I adored this book.

From start to finish I found the writing style to truly suit my taste.
Ashley has created characters that are not only believable but who I could identify with and connect with on an emotional level.

I was totally fighting Collin's corner and at times grew impatient with Alexa, screaming at her to get with the program! I understand he f@*ked up but come on! What a sweetheart!

I guess my own history and experience was pulling me toward Collin. I remember my first love, high school sweetheart and that fire will always simmer. But this book posed the immortal question....can you ever go back?

At the start this book breaks my heart for a couple to lose each other over something that can be resolved but as I read through it, I finally understand what the author was trying to show in the book... And it makes perfect sense... A wonderful journey of a couple who went their separate ways and find the one they're destined to be with... A great love story and definitely worth reading... I put it in my feel good book, when I feel like a book I just read just drained me emotionally and I need to find balance again... I will most certainly come back to this book and read it to find that smile again... :-)

This was a really fast and easy read. It was well written and I liked how the main characters voices alternated the storytelling. However, I thought the story would have been better suited to older characters (i.e. not 18 year olds). I felt that the relationships the characters had moved way too fast considering their ages. I think most teens today are way too immature to be ready for the lifelong commitments this book was focusing on. Overall, fast easy read, but the story was unrealistic in my opinion. This would probably be most appreciated by idealistic young girls (I myself might be outgrowing YA)

I really enjoyed this book. It broke my heart in the beginning and I really felt for Alexa. I really wanted to hate Collin for his actions. And although what he did was so so wrong, you understand that they re young and young people make mistakes. I liked how there was Alexa's relationship with Nolan that was so fast and intense. And Collin's relationship that was slower and the feelings evolved over time. I liked watching these two mature and grow in their lives. The only problem that I have is this book was too short. I would love to read more about them and see how their lives are playing out.

The first time I read the sample of this book I wasn't sure I really wanted to stick it out. I saw it was listed as free this time around so I thought I'd try it again. It was a great book! I would recommend getting it! :-) This is a sweet story of finding out the difference between puppy love and true love. Your first love will always be special but when you find "the one" it's like none other. The steps Alexa and Collin go through are much like any young adult couple and the outcomes are rewarding for them both.

I actually found this book a little depressing. Not to give anything away but the synopsis makes it sound like Collin focuses on college and football after losing Alexa but is still working to get her back. It was actually quite different and the ending wasn't what I expected at all. There wasn't a whole lot of the "before" part of the story (focusing on Alexa and Collin when they were together) and that would have made it a lot better. As it was I didn't really "feel" Collin and Alexa's relationship so wasn't particularly rooting for them to get back together.

Well, I had to put this book down after Alexa leaves Colin's Grad party so upset. I was PISSED at Colin!! I was pissed when the act was happening, but more posses with how it came out. Then as the story progresses, I start to like him again! I love the introduction of Nolan! I love Alexa's friends! Weirded out a bit that Nicole and Alexa end up friends, but she wasn't the problem with what happened. Can't wait to dive into book 2!!
