HK lives in the frozen hinterlands of the far North. The long, cold months provide ample opportunity to hunker down with her computer and create adventures far more enticing than scraping ice and getting frostbite.

Between books HK reads voraciously. Anything with a good plot and compelling characters are her broad parameters. One is as likely to catch her with a copy of Don Quixote as with the latest Kristen Ashley.

When not writing or wowing the corporate world by day, HK practices martial arts, plays with her dogs and matches wits with her teen. Next winter she intends to brush up on her Spanish and escape the cold for somewhere more tropical.

Paranormal is her favorite genre and science fiction because both address the possibilities we have not yet realized and the darker things we have. Her favorite premise: “what if?”

Savage has yet another hit on her hands! This accomplished YA author's debut into the Adult PNR genre will not dissapoint. This is a sexy, steamy read with lots of action and suspense. I second PBC's thoughts, Perfect!

Rebecca Sauter has premonition dreams that have haunted her for her entire life. Having learned early on how people treat her differently if they know her secret, she has kept it guarded for the majority of her life. Untrusting and Insecure, Becca chooses to lead a typically mundane lifestyle flying under the radar, so to speak. Michael Rossi is a Captain in Admiral Blacks Elite group of extraordinary soldiers, he is also a vampire. With secrets of his own locked away, Michael believes human's are fragile and have no place within the elite group he leads.

When the cunning and devious Admiral Black sets his sights on Becca, her world is turned upside down quite literally overnight. But Michael doesn't trust her or her abilities, this instant attraction and need to protect the petitie soldier aren't helping to quiet his internal fears. Forced to trust in each other and work together will the connection they seem to share, not to mention the sexual tension, bring them closer together or, tear them apart.

As the bond between this unlikely pair grows and changes and an evil emerges that threatens humans and vampires alike, will Becca be able to control her Second Sight. Just when you think you know where this story is going Savage takes a sharp right turn and throws a few twists in there for good measure. Add to that a twist in Becca's ability that no-one saw coming and the intrigue ensues!

Fans of paranormal, hot brooding leading men and action packed steamy romance will love this book! There is something for everyone. I give it 5/5 but that's just my two cents.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!There is only one thing better than Chocolate. A man in a uniform! Now add to that uniform, some fangs, good looks, muscles and heart of warmth. What does all that add up too? There is a new Book YUMMY in town!!!!! Do not be like my daughter and call me up telling me "mom didn't you mean yummy book"? No I did NOT. And if you do not understand my meaning then you are too young to be reading this book! Wink Wink

Heather Savage, is flippin brilliant. I love her writing, she has wrote another book that has completely compelled me to put her in my top A list!!! It is not just because I wanted to strip naked and jump in the book to salute Captain Yummy. This is simply a awesome READ!!!

As a rule, I do not tell details about a book. I truthfully think if a book is good enough it will show through the review. However since this book is not released yet, let me give you a small glimpse of it.

Becca is in the military. Trying hard to fight through always having premonition dreams of the future. She is bound to keep her secret hid. Which proves to be a very lonely life. In fear that if anyone gets close to her they will find out her secret, and think she is crazy. Except for a on and off boyfriend, that she keeps at a distance. And a partner she works with daily, that later you might find out is something more than she realizes. While working Becca has a bad premonition of her somewhat boyfriend. So after work Becca goes to take a run to see if it will help clear her mind. What she doesn't know is this run is what will change her life forever. Half way through her normal running routine, she runs into.....tisk tisk....I cannot tell you. After a trigger that reminds her of her premonition dream. She passes out, only to wake up in the hospital on her base.
Slowly recovering from her “accident” the next day, in walks a Captain Rossi, to inform her that she is leaving with him, due to a reassignment. Her commander will now be Admiral Black. Trust me when I say Rot Roh!!!! Now, the least of Becca’s worries are going to be her special ability. She is now with a new small unit, working hard to try and save a complete race. Guns a blazin from there. So get your kindle charged, because you will be ripping mad if you have to stop reading this book.

I say this book is one of the more believable versions of a world with supernaturals in it, then I have ever read. Let me tell you right now people. If you love a great book with supernaturals, stronger characters, action and suspense. Or as I said before, if you want a book, that will make you want to strip naked and jump in the book to salute Captain Yummy! Get this book as soon as it is released in Nov!!!

I am straining to be able to wait for the next book!!!

I have had the opportunity to have read the other books that she has written and this one has by far been one of my favorites. Where can you find vampires, and men in uniform? This book has brought into many different elements to make it great. The story line was great- nothing that i have ever read before, and still leaves me waiting for another book!

this book is so fantastic it has left me speechless.
so many words can be used to describe this book, and its characters.
and I could go on forever about it.
this should be among the classics. I absolutely love this book.

this is the best book I have read in a while.
Thank you to HK Savage for having the brilliant mind to come up with this. I eagerly await more books in this series.

Interesting story and characters but a few editing mistakes and a lot of narration without any dialogues made it a bit long to read.

I didn't enjoy this book due to the military themes, but I can tell that for those who don't mind that theme, its a good and entertaining read.

(4.5 stars) "Second Sight" is a really interesting scenario about an elite special ops military group made up of vampires, weres and other gifted people. Rebecca Sauter, is an MP at the naval base in San Diego. She tries her best to fly under the radar because she does not want anyone to discover that she has visions of the future. For this reason and to her father's ire, she avoids trying to become an officer.

While jogging after work one evening, Becca encounters two wolves she dreamed of the night before. Once attacks her and she falls back and hits her head. She also sees an image of an eery face she also saw in her dream. When she fell, she hit her head leaving her unconscious. She awakes in the hospital and the doctor informs her she has a concussion and she is to stay overnight for observation. Before, she can ingest the pain meds to deal with her raging headache, she is visited by Captain Michael Rossi who informs her that she must go with him to see Admiral Black. While Becca does everything in her power to resist, she finally realizes she must go.

Captain Rossi takes Becca to a mansion on the outskirts of town. It is here that she finally has to confess her special ability. She also learns that there are creatures in this world unknown to man such as vampires, weres and other supernaturals. Admiral Black recruits her (not that she has a choice) to join the elite squad where her first mission is to discover who is stealing weapons from a supply werehouse. Once the culprits have been capture they will move on to a mission that will have devastating consequences to those close to Becca.

I truly enjoyed the military style story line and the chemistry between the characters. At times, I felt that the author did not fully complete her ideas when it came to Becca's visions. Additionally, I was irritated by the grammar and other editing mistakes. However, overall, this book was a really good read. I am looking forward to book two due out in this summer. If you are looking for something unique with a quite a bit of action, this could very well be the book for you. Check it out!

I'm not a stranger the the awesomeness that is Ms Savage. Her Empath trilogy blew me away. It's up in my favorites, so I was expecting big things! I'm pleased to say, she more than delivered!

Second Sight brings you Becca, a young military woman that has the 'second sight'. She dreams in premonitions. She is always flying under the radar in everything so to not draw attention to herself. Relationships are scarce due to her dreams and family relations are strained. One night on her run things start to change she sees things she only thought existed in novels and movies.

Enter Captain Yummy (as dubbed by my bestie) - Michael Rossi. His presence calms her. Puts her at peace. Vampire. Rawrrrrrr. But is he everything he seems? Things are slipping out of control. There are questions she wants answered. She hates him, doesn't she? She is just as tough as the rest. She has proved herself worthy of new position as Captain and deserves to be treated as such. This unlikely pair will have to work together to protect humans and vampires alike.

This book has everything! Snarky tuff chick, Vampires, weres, men in uniform, sexy times, family drama, betrayal, friendship and creepy as hell internal and external villains. You will totally get that statement once you meet the disturbingly wacked out Admiral...

You think you know what will happen, then *bang* you get thrown off and have to re-group and go again. Ms Savage has entered the world of Adult Paranormal Romance and she has done it with a bang people. What are you waiting for?! This needs to be added to your list and bumped to the top!

I am anxiously awaiting book 2 and more sexy ass kicking times, for Becca & Michael. Kudos to you Ms Savage. I suggest you type faster :D

Savage takes us on a whole new journey in this book. The way she weaves the military in the plot was so unique. I have several family members that serve and I find nothing more honorable or respectable. That being said The Admiral sent chills down my spine and caused the hair on the nape of my neck to stand. I thought the scenes that dubbed this an adult book were done tastefully.

Becca floats through life as a loner trying hard to keep people at a distant for fear they will learn her secret and push her away first. Her dreams aren't always just dreams, sometimes in them she can see the future. Not something you really want to publicize, not to mention not share a bed with someone, too afraid of what the dreams will make her say or scream. Relationships become not last but close to last priority. Her family life isn't much better as she tries her hardest to not disappoint her father.

One night changes it all. While out she has a run in with the creatures that haunted her most recent dreams. Everything she saw in the dream was coming to fruitation. Only a few words were all it took for the Admiral to take notice...and want her for his collection. Commanding a group of misfits or more accurately a group of supernatural beings, The Admiral takes pride in having the best team. The others aren't as welcoming as she would have hoped at first and Becca continuously has to prove her worth to the group.

Michael, the Captain, brings her a peace she hasn't felt in years. While he feels as a human she is a weaker link and fights against her staying. In the long run he eventually sees she can handle it but maybe it's him who can't. They will have many hurdles to jump but is it possible these two can form a relationship without secrets?

I really enoyed the book! I look forward to reading the next one.

(Copied from my Amazon review)
I thought a special ops/supernatural novel would be fun, but I just couldn't get past the first chapter.

The author spends too much time explaining, too little time just showing. He swaps character views in so short a time, my head is spinning, trying to keep up. He either has never been in the military, or didn't pay attention while he was in, and makes too many assumptions on certain types of military behavior he doesn't actually understand.

I'm sorry, but I was never able to suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy the story. Everything felt like a caricature of other caricatures.

The author has some neat concepts he wants to portray and I wish him luck in developing better flow with future stories, but he needs to either spend some time with people who have lived military lives to get a better feel for it, or spend some more time reading novels by people who do military SciFi or fantasy well (John Ringo, David Weber, etc.), or use it as a background item without portraying it outright (like Mark Henwick).

Keeping to one character view per scene would help a LOT. This novel had the feel of the early Dragonlance novels, where the reader felt like he was moving from player to player in a tabletop roleplaying game. This author does not have the D&D franchise connection to support his sales while he develops his style and cannot afford to make the same mistakes.

This was a great book and read it in a day as couldn't put it down!

I really enjoyed the pace of it, If this was a book about ordinary people I might think Rebecca Sauter adapted too easily to what was happening around her, but well she is a clairvoyant so yeah nothing is normal. I though the characters were really good and I especially like Des, although I would never want to be on her bad side! I actually found it refreshing how Rebecca would be strong and confident at times then vulnerable at others instead of some military robot. Captain Michael Rossi wants whats best for his team and Rebecca is definitely a spanner in the works for the team and him, it's great to see the struggles he has with everyone around him while trying to do the right thing and deal with what he is feeling.

This book has a great mix, of romance, secrets, action and laughter which keeps you addicted to reading till the end, then wanting book 2 straight away!

Rebecca Sauter is a proud military police officer with a secret; she’s clairvoyant. Her ex-Marine father can’t understand why she won’t try harder for a commission but for Becca, hiding among the greater mass of enlisted men and women is safer.

One night on a run she encounters a terrifying man and his beastly dogs; in her attempts to defend herself she hits her head and passes out. When she wakes up in the hospital she’s being collected by a handsome but rude officer.

It is hard to nuance with only five stars. I'm a bit fixated on what stars mean to me at this point in time. Two means it was a hard slog. I'm not sure I would finish a book that would get a one so I don't think I would use it. Three is good, but not great. It's 'the writing wasn't fabulous but I kept turning the page'. It's 'hey, isn't everyone now jumping on the love between vampires and humans band wagon'. It's 'I'll finish this one but I don't think I'll keep going with the rest of the series'. Sometimes three stars means more, but in this case, that about sums it up. A woman who is gifted with visions joins a specialist military group made up of weres and vamps to fight baddies of the same supernatural sort. She falls for her superior, fanged officer.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series! HK Savage does a good job with the paranormal aspect of this book, although I think she could have elaborated and developed each character’s abilities a bit more. The writing style is very unique, and I loved the multiple points of view. She did a good job switching from character to character on the fly without a chapter break! I loved the heroine, I thought she was strong, and had a great attitude! She kicked butt and didn’t take crap from anyone! I will definitely be reading more from HK Savage!

HK Savage has surpassed herself on this one. After reading Empath and The Path, I thought I had seen all her wonderful bag of tricks, but she continually engaged me with her well-written characters and creative twists that had me turning the pages into the wee hours.

Savage has a unique ability to take characters and make them so real that you either love them or want to rip their hearts out. (The Admiral)

I will be waiting for the next installment to see if Becca can survive the new environment she is now plunged into.

An easy 5 star rating here.

I wasn't sure at first, if I would like the book because of Beccas' personality. She seemed cold, aloof and almost in-human. But as the story progressed I became hooked. There are reasons why Becca is the way she is and the Author draws you in slowly but deeply. I didn't think much of her romantic interest either at first but you'll love the way things turn out. There were plenty of twists and turns in this story and it just drew me in deeper. I enjoyed this book very much and I will definitely continue with this series. What an exciting read. I literally could not stop reading. There were so many twists and turns and non-stop action. I love all the different paranormal creatures in this story. It brings more excitement to the plot. Being a fan of strong female characters, Rebecca is exactly that. From the moment Michael walked in the door, I knew sparks were going to fly. If you love romantic, suspenseful stories with characters that you just can't help not love than this is it. Enjoy.

the writing was too amateur for me. the author explains why a character says, does, or thinks everything... it was like reading a book written by a teenager.
the development of the characters was written in such a way that it seemed like the author was trying too hard to explain~ and she did, constantly. the main character lacked a certain je ne sais quoi... she just wasnt written as exciting in any way really.
the ideas were too typical and mundane (broody vampire doesnt deserve woman, etc).

Let me start by saying WOW! This book was written beautifully. If your looking for suspense, some laughter, a little romance, some hard core butt kicking and some fantasy then this is the book for you. The main character is a survivor and uses her abilities to help other people. She joins a team that quickly becomes her family. I can't wait to read another book by this author. This was a great book. Having different paranormals working together is awesome. And the reason behind the team is even better. Becca is such a strong character that finds her strength throughout the story. And Michael is just delicious. Gabrielle and Ryan round out the so very well. And now I'm excited to see what these guys get into next.

I absolutely loved this book! Definitely more 'adult' than her previous works. I love the characters, especially Becca and Michael. Gabrielle has me slightly suspicious of an ultimate double cross and of course Black bleeds deception and selfishness. I can't wait to see how the characters develop more in the next couple of books.

I don't typically like paranormal books, but HK Savage did a wonderful job drawing me into the story, and did disappoint through the end. There were several errors that were somewhat distracting though, affect vs effect being the biggest one throughout the book. in would recommend this book, and look forward to reading the next installment.

Another great one from HK Savage! This book instantly grabbed me and wouldn't let go - what most impresses me is its cohesive and unique storyline and characters, and most importantly - HK's ability to write female lead characters in an intuitive way (thank you!!) Can't wait for the second one!
