Night Rogues

Rate this book
Unable to control the psychic abilities, Serena Abbott spent her life alone.

Her visions always came true, as did the dreams that plagued her sleep.

She would soon meet the man who would be her lover.

Ian and Alastair Wyndham lived dual lives as both millionaire playboys and freelance agents, who didn’t always find it necessary to play by the rules to bring justice to those who attempted to live their lives above the law.

Meeting Serena, a woman who saw and knew too much, changed everything, putting their livelihood, and their lives, in danger.

Taking her prisoner was easy.

Fighting their attraction to her proved to be considerably more difficult.

Keeping her safe would be even harder, especially when their current target wanted to use Serena’s abilities to his own advantage.

Together, the three of them find a connection they’d never expected, and a love they’d never known.

The Romance Review

Reading people's minds and being able to see the future is a hot commodity. Especially if this said person can give an advantage over competitors.

Serena Abbott is essentially all alone in the world since her mother passed away. She does have an aunt and a female cousin, but they don't have anything to do with Serena. Since being around people gives Serena a migraine, she's better off isolated in her home, painting to her heart's content.

The only thing disturbing her life is a recurring premonition of meeting her dream man. He's the one who will finally connect with her. She's not sure when she will meet him, but when her absent female cousin invites Serena to her wedding in New York, it all becomes clear. It is fate for Serena to find her man in New York.

The thing with premonitions is it's not always accurate and not every detail is in high definition. Serena is thrown for a loop when she discovers her dream man is actually two men. Ian and Alastair are twins living one life. It reminds me of the movie, The Prestige, staring Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. This complication of two men pushes Serena to her limit. On top of this, her abilities are a threat to both the twins and her cousin's husband.

This romantic suspense novel is erotic and well written. Ms. Brooke pens some of the hotter ménage stories involving brothers. It's her trademark. Her sexy threesomes are v triads because the brothers are not sexually involved with each other. There is no incest and that is much appreciated. Still, at the mercy of two handsome powerful men who can communicate telepathically is a heady sensation.

The conflict in this story is understandable even if it is just in the narrow mind of Serena. Fortunately, it's resolved in a manner both believable and sweet. In between combating evil villains and learning to control Serena's abilities, the reader is treated to smoking hot sex. This romance is recommended to romance lovers who enjoy a bit of the paranormal.

My Rating: ❤❤❤½
GOOD: The characteristics of a 3 star book include: interesting characters, a decent storyline, and unique story elements; there was something about the story that I didn’t completely connect with; the book is a solid read. I would recommend it to a friend.
My Thoughts:
Overall, I thought that Night Rogues had a more robust story line than the Desire, OK series. There was actually a plot beyond, "You will submit" and sex...sex...sex. I liked the psychic twist and the fact that Serena's abilities changed and grew more enhanced throughout the story. Alastair and Ian were the typical Brooke alpha males but both of them were sufficiently likeable. Alastair more so because he had less edge than Ian who bore more of the dominating protector role. Serena was...well, a bit harder to pin down. At times at liked her and at times I didn't. She vacillated between wanting the brothers and pushing them away by claiming what they had was only sex. It was giving me whiplash.

The ending left a bit to be desired as well. I suppose that it was a happy for now but no decidedly happily ever after. I'm not sure if that was intentional to introduce the next book in the series or not but it just kind of faded to black.

It was a quick and enjoyable read.

4.5 Stars

With Night Rogues, Leah Brookes proves her versatility, moving from her cowboy books to the realm of the paranormal.

Her heroes, Alastair and Ian Wyndham are yummy Alpha types, twins who can talk to each other telepathically. They are taken by surprise when the woman they plan to investigate recognizes not only that they are twins instead of the one person they pretend to be, but appeals to both of them on every level.

The fact they are twins surprises Serena, but not the fact that they want her-they have been appearing in her dreams for months as her lover, and her dreams are never wrong.

But the bad guy they are investigating also wants to recruit Serena to use her psychic powers-and if he can’t use her, kill her.
The book includes a lot of drama, a unique way of attempting murder, and lots of steamy sex. There are some BDSM elements, but this is more of a ménage book than a BDSM book.

Overall, a good read and one that will have you reaching for your partner or other method to relieve the heat!

Serena Abbott dreamed of the man who would become her lover. She knew when she accepted her cousin's wedding invitation the time had come to meet him. Serena has been a loner though for years, she is psychic and the thoughts from whoever she comes in contact with is overwhelming. She has learned to keep quiet though and knows that her time in New York will be short.

Ian and Alastair Wyndham live as one, both pretend to be the same person. As identical twins they have taken every precaution to keep the other out of sight, when they are asked to investigate Serena they are curious about who she is. They never expect to have her reveal that she knows their secret and plan to figure out what to do with her. They know one thing though they can use her gift to put away the man they have been gathering evidence on, even if she is resistant. They plan to have her in their bed as well, but Serena knows through her visions she will leave with a broken heart if she does.

I thought this was a darker read for Leah Brooke. Ian is the more dominant of the brothers, while Alastair is the playful one. I thought the chemistry was of the charts and the way the story unfolded was completely unexpected. Great read.

This was a good Leah Brooke read. Serena was an interesting character, mainly because she doesn't understand or know the extent of her powers. "Wyn" is an interesting character in how he is presented to the outside world. Ian and Allistair have several similarities but there are differences that are evident as the story unfolded. The interactions with Serena and the boys is the heart of the story and this is a complete story even though you can tell it is setting things up for the future! The boss and the doctor are extremely intriguing and I can't wait to see more from them as they develop!
