Ernest Shurtleff Holmes was an American New Thought writer, teacher, and leader. He was the founder of a Spiritual movement known as Religious Science, part of the greater New Thought movement, whose spiritual philosophy is known as "The Science of Mind." He was the author of The Science of Mind and numerous other metaphysical books, and the founder of Science of Mind magazine, in continuous publication since 1927. His books remain in print, and the principles he taught as "Science of Mind" have inspired and influenced many generations of metaphysical students and teachers. “No thought of discouragement or disorder should ever be created, but only
positive assurance, strong thoughts of success, of Divine activity, the feeling that
with God all things are possible, the belief that we are One with that Great Mind.
These are the thoughts that make for success.”

“We can now see how essential it is that thought should be held one-pointed; that we should think always and only upon what we want, never letting our mind dwell on anything else. In this way the Spirit works through us.”

~ Ernest Holmes from Creative Mind and Success

Have you heard of Ernest Holmes?

Super cool guy who’s influenced a *lot* of modern self-development teachers. One of the leaders
in the New Thought movement of the early 20th century, in the 1920’s he founded “Religious
Science” and published his seminal book, Science of Mind, where he integrated what he called
the “Golden thread of truth” that ran through all of the world’s religions.

A highly practical guy, he once said: “I would rather see a student of this Science prove its
Principle than to have him repeat all the words of wisdom that have ever been uttered.”

(My kinda guy. :)

Let’s take a quick look on some of the Big Ideas:

1. Divine Presence - = Source of power.
2. Fear Brings Failure - Faith brings success.
3. Forgive the Past - Now’s a good time. :)
4. Radiate Joy! - Be filled with faith, hope and expectancy!
5. Negative Thoughts - … Begone! :)

Here’s to aligning with the Creative Mind and, to paraphrase my friend and mentor Gay Hendricks, here’s to experiencing an everlasting expansion of success, abundance and love as we inspire those around us to do the same!

I found this book packed with knowledge but it didn’t speak to me. Either way, I understood from this book the power your thoughts got over one’s destiny and to always be aware of one’s thought cause in doing so you create your own destiny.

the book is full of theological believes such as God is life..God made human out of himself so human is a representation of God..etc..
personally I don't have problems with the concept of the one creator God ..Allah .. but to say such powerful statements without no whatsoever logic only based on holy books is just not very attractive for the readers

This is the 1919 version of The Secret. It's all about Law of Attraction and how whatever you imagine in your mind will come to you exactly as you picture it. Total BS - would not recommend this book to ANYONE. Don't waste your time. I wasted mine enough.

Right on time if you’re ready to hold yourself accountable for life to create success in every area!

This is my first Ernest H. book and it was right on time!!

As I transition from working in corporate America for over 25 years to following my passions and becoming an entrepreneur, this book has been a guide that’s taking me to the next level of consciousness and explains how to use our power, through thoughts & words to co- create with the one mind of GOD.

The fact that this was written over 100 yrs ago was mind blowing to me at first, but it confirmed that truth is everlasting…

I read a lot of spiritual, psychology and self help books, but this small book is filled with a lot wisdom that will help anyone who seeks enlightenment!

I love the spiritual foundation and approach that this book was written from!

This will definitely be a book that I refer to for the rest of my life!!!

It’s a great tool that’s helping me to manifest success, creativity & the peace of mind that we all deserve and want in this lifetime 🙌🏾👌🏾🙏🏾🙇🏽‍♀️💕

Shorthand summary: Holmes believes all that exists in this universe is made up of consciousness and direction of thought due to our likeness of our Creator. “Man is the individual and God is the universal…if he has the same power in his individual life that God has in the Universal, then this discovery will mean freedom from all bondage when he learns how to use his power.”

I thoroughly enjoyed Creative Mind and Success. The theme aligned with other topics I am researching, as well as deeply resonated with my personal journey in life right now. I was surprised to see the Bible quoted so much but at the same time, I appreciated Holmes’s ability to tie it into his explanation of the law of attraction. I highly recommend anyone with an open mind and thirst for greatness to give Creative Mind and Success a read.

We are what we think and without controlling our thoughts we are limited to what thoughts we think automatically. Similar to other books like "the power of awareness" or "feeling is the secret". Still a good day's read to get back on track with positive thinking when outward conditions threaten our inward peace.

"If God makes things out of his thought before they come into manifestation then we must use the same method".
"Since God can do for us only by doing through us, nothing can be done for us unless we are positively receptive".

Good book that states some important concepts such as that everything is made of spirit and that we are a part of God. The author goes on to discuss how this knowledge allows us to use thought and feeling to attract good into our lives. The book specifically mentions the Law of Attraction and gives welcome advice for applying the teaching.

Fantastic philosophical read!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this as it strengthened my own faith and beliefs about the Law of Attraction. I especially enjoyed how he tied God into this, since spirituality is such a big part of my own life. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to strengthen belief in their own abilities to accomplish something.

10/10 Resonance. Just pure energy flowing through my body whenever I read the audiobook of this. I completed it on my drive a few weeks ago and I'm still listening to it over and over.

Biggest Impact: Thinking Powerful Thoughts way more often in daily life now. Remember, there is never a moment in time you cannot be creating your Dream Reality. The Mind is a Gift.

A little to woo-woo for my taste. Filled with vague suggestions of just thinking things into being.

Has some good ideas. However the Law of attraction is something you need to believe in of course. Generally I would say it are all things that were said before, but nevertheless a nice reminder.

Although not as old as some of the original books in the “New Thought” movement, I still consider Ernest Holmes’ second book, Creative Mind and Success, as a classic in the field of personal development.

I have yet to read any of Ernest’s other books, including the predecessor to this book; however, I must say that I enjoy his writing style and I really resonate with his views on the nature of reality and creation. The main premise of this book is that everything in this universe was created from consciousness, “The starting point of our thought must always begin with our experiences. We all know that life is, else we could not even think that we are. Since we can think, say and feel, we must be. We live, we are conscious of life; therefore we must be and life must be. If we are life and consciousness (self- knowing) then it follows that we must have come from the life and consciousness.”

Continuing on, Ernest explains that we direct this consciousness through our thoughts, which then in turn will create our reality, “By the activity of our thought things come into our life,…” and “Just as the creative power of the soil receives all seats put into it, and at once begins to work on them, so mind must receive all thought and at once began to operate on it. Thus we find that all thought has some power in our lives over our conditions.”

To put it another way, if we dwell on the negative, we are drawing to ourselves more negativity and if we wish to improve the quality of our lives we need to intentionally focus our thoughts on the positive. The idea is that the power of creation (consciousness, God, whatever label you wish to use) does not impede our free will so it will not judge our intentions; it will simply manifest to the extent that we focus on a specific outcome.

I don’t want to give the impression that this book is convoluted or overly intellectual -by trying to condense pages of ideas into a brief book summary might make the ideas seem more convoluted than they are in the book. The ideas are presented in a more modern writing style than some of the other, early books in this field and the information is presented in a logical flow; however, potential readers should realize that this topic does require a great deal of introspection and an open mind. Furthermore, due to the nature of the topic there will necessarily be numerous references to spirituality/religion.

I do not have any religious affiliation and I do not enjoy reading religious texts and while Ernest does have numerous Biblical references, they flowed with the topics and did not come across as preaching.

This book is only 63 pages long and at this point in my journey I have not read a book that so concisely and eloquently speaks to the nature of consciousness and the power of thought. I know that I will read this book several more times and I suspect that every time I do I will glean a little more from the life-altering words within.

Life is all what there is and one can create his desired life by watching his thoughts. The firt step to know what you want and to believe that you can get it and percieve that you already have it . Thoughts are seeds that you plant in you the garden in your head. You must carefully choose the best quality of your seeds.
