Acclaimed illustrator Eva Eriksson lends her talent to this picture book. Tim is nervous about moving, but his cuddly friend Pico is even more nervous. What if it’s too hot? What if there are too many stairs? And worst of all…what if Tim makes new friends and doesn’t need Pico anymore? When moving day comes, Pico is pleasantly surprised to find that Tim does make a new friend, but that Tim’s new friend has a cuddly friend, too and that all four can be friends. Most of all, Pico is thrilled when Tim reminds “You are my best friend for ever and ever.”
From the point of view of the stuffed animal. Great for children who are moving and might be a little nervous about moving. Published in 2012 but bought it on the discard pile from the library. I'll keep it just in case it comes in handy.

A story that describes what 'may' go through a child's mind, with the use of their security 'blanket' animal, when a family moves. Perfect pastel color pencil illustrations to go along with, and match the simple Hallmark story. This may help a child if they're stressed about moving - going through changes and making new friends. I think big moves are more nerve wracking for older students. All kids, moved or not, are always stressed about making, keeping, and loosing friends.
Most younger ones will get past this type of anxiety if it's not dwelled on and they're helped to redirect and focus on the future positives of the change. Nothing remarkable about the story. I would use if I had a specific child with this need.
Tim is moving to a new town, and he's excited. But his best cuddle buddy, Pico, isn't so sure. He doesn't think things will be better at all -- especially not if Tim makes new friends and leaves him behind.
I thought these illustrations were cute without being twee. Pico's facial expressions are amazing, and their world seems really rich and realistic.
I think that this is a good entry in to the moving anxiety genre. Definitely recommended for kids who are just a little nervous about moving, or siblings who might be nervous their brothers and sisters will find people they like more after they move.
Tim and his "best cuddle buddy", Pico are moving to a new home. Their both nervous, but Pico is even more nervous. After an initial, "It will be exciting!" from his parents, the rest of the book shows Tim reassuring Pico about how great their new home will be. Pico is especially nervous about Tim meeting new friends, but is happy when he and Tim meet another Kindergartener with her own "best cuddle buddy." The illustrations are sweet, especially Pico's subtle facial expressions. A particularly poignant illustration shows Pico clinging to Tim as they walk into their new classroom.
I gave this book 5 starts because my 6-year-old wants to read it again and again.
Excerpt from the book: Tim is very nervous. He's moving to Calabash. "It will be exciting," his parents tell him. "It will be exciting," Tim tells Pico. Pico is Tim's best cuddle buddy, and always has been. But there's a problem. Pico doesn't want to move. He thinks Tim's room is very cozy. Pico has a little house in the corner, with everything just so, exactly how he likes it.
I really enjoyed this story of boy and his stuffed animal moving away. It would be ideal for anyone experiencing anxiety about a big change in life. I sort of think the boy makes a girlfriend at the end, even though he is only like 6 years old.
A sweet book for student going through a change. Moving is always hard on my students, who imagine the worst much like the character in the book. Wonderful to help students prepare for an upcoming move or for students that are brand new at your school.
Tim and his family move to a new town. Pico, his cuddle buddy, is nervous about the move - more so than Tim. Pico is nervous because he's worried that Tim will find a new friend and forget about him. Connection: use this book to talk about moving or about friendship.
I seem to be reading tons of "having to move" stories lately, but I love the twist of it being Tim's favorite stuffed animal friend, Pico, who is anxious about the move rather than Tim himself. This is a fun, sweet, reassuring getting-ready-to-move picture book.
Tim is moving to a new house and his best cuddly friend, Pico is worried. What if Tim makes new friends? An engaging picture book with themes of change and friendship.
This is a wonderful picture book for any children preparing for a move or even preparing for entering school or going to a new school. A sweet read that really expresses the characters emotions.
