Right after I finished reading Amethyst, I went to the the authors blog and found out that the second book was published over at Smashwords. I can say that is the best $2.99 I have spent this week! Well worth it. Linked is the second book in the Guardian series written by Heather Bowhay. It is a quick read like the first book which in a way made me a little sad because I was so invested in the storyline from book one and was hoping to drag out my fascination with a little bit of a longer story. However it was just the right length and didn't drag out unnecessarily like some books do. Linked picked up right where Amethyst left off with Lexi trying to figure out how to deal with what she might actually be which was not only an Amethyst/healer but also a Dentelle. A Dentelle from what she has heard is a mix of both an Amethyst and a Guardian which is rare and could end up having a deadly result for Lexi. In this book she is searching for answers and trying to come up with solutions to her disturbing premonitions. Jason is also proving to still be a source of frustration because even though Lexi is obviously in love with him, he seems to reject her at every possible opportunity and yet still give her small glimmers of affections which confuses her even more. While that relationship is stressed beyond imagination Lexi finds comfort in her friend Ash. Ash is a great character and I enjoy his flirtatious and witty charm. Then it seems like something more than friendship starts to build between both Lexi and Ash at the most inopportune time just as the Ray-pacs are devising an evil plan and their main target is Lexi herself.
So much is going on in this book that I was never bored. The characters continue to develop in this book and the author does a great job at building up the plot to the major event in the book. However like the first book, this book has a few grammar errors that instantly made me cringe and normally that is a huge negative point for me but I really just love this story that I can overlook that. I can't wait till the third book comes out. This is a great young adult fantasy fiction series that I would recommend to anyone who likes that genre.

Hello Lovelies!

I’ve been sitting on this review for about a month, waiting to post it (I wanted to break up sequel reviews). After finishing and loving Amethyst, I immediately moved onto Linked, eager to continue the story of Lexi and her companions.

Ash, who seemed to fade out of Amethyst, returns full force in Linked and becomes Lexi’s confidant, accomplice, and even lover. Instead of the cocky facade portrayed in the first book, Ash is revealed to be a feeling individual hounded by insecurities. His loyalty to Lexi is unwavering even though they have connections to opposing sides. Ash, an unexpected knight in shining armor, rescues the remnants of Lexi’s broken heart (thanks, Jason), and does his best to piece them together with his love. All in all, I really love Ash.

Jason, on the other hand, is another story. Irritatingly subordinate to Guardian rules, Jason crushes Lexi’s romantic advances with an iron hand, devastating her. The distance between them allows Ash to sneak his way into her heart. Even though Jason “doesn’t care,” he still experiences bolts of jealousy at Lexi and Ash’s relationship. Serves him right! As the novel progresses, things between Jason and Lexi become quite interesting, (spoiler, kind of) ending with an admission that simultaneously makes my heart sing but also quake in fear for their future.

Linked centers around plotting the demise of the Ray-Pacs, but also enlightens you on the inner-workings of both the Guardians and Lexi’s heart. Madison also becomes surprisingly likable but still full of copious amounts of disdain. I spent the entire book questioning the fate of Lexi due to her Dentelle nature. Obviously, because of the existence of a third book, I knew Lexi would live, I just didn’t know to which side she would be linked. The ending battle scene is thrilling and full of bad-assery (just go with it). The next and last book in the series, Dentelle, will most likely consist of many battle scenes and nerve-wracking suspense!

I am excited to continue the Guardian series soon! I definitely recommend this series to all of you as it is enjoyable and electrifying! Be on the lookout for my review of Dentelle! If you have read any of Heather Bowhay’s books, I’d love to hear your opinions!

I enjoyed Amethyst but found 'Linked' even more spell-blinding and couldn't put it down. The story wove together elements of love, friendship, self-sacrifice and violence in a world where feelings between Guardians and Amethysts are forbidden, linking to a Dentelle could mean death, and war with the Ray-pacs constantly looms. The rivalry between the Ray-pac leader and his evil brother Adrian to get Lexi's Essence lent a chilling sense of uncertainty to the story especially when Lexi underestimates her enemy in order to protect her friends and Jason. The infusion of Ash's new powers, his link to the Ray-pacs and his attachment to Lexi added a wider dimension to the story and enhanced the forbidden love story between Lexi and her Guardian. Even the ending held more questions than answers and offered the beginnings of another intriguing entanglement which I hope will be resolved in a 3rd book. I recommend this book to everyone.

I had the same qualms about this book as I did with the first one: way too much random detail that doesn't add to the story, and so many weird rules that make no sense whatsoever and are also thrown in just because something is convenient. Unfortunately, these problems got even worse in this book.

Still, I do care about the characters, but I'm to the point where I don't really want to read the third book because I'm getting quite bored with this writing style, but I've invested enough time into this series that I should just finish it.

MINOR SPOILERS:
Ok, how can Lexi forget she has Orchid pollen in her pocket? Seriously? That was a serious weapon and you just _happen_ to forget? Yeah. I'm not buying it. Also, for the life of me I cannot figure out how the logic works in this world. Why on earth does Orchid pollen effect the Guardians? And why didn't it effect Lexi when she used it, and why on earth does water weaken Guardians?!

I did enjoy the second installment of the Guardian series and I love that she connected with Ash. I'm not too sure about her whole thoughts and love with Jason, I don't know if they will be able to link up but either way, this series has enthralled me.

Still enjoyable the severalth time I read it, but gosh the writing style is so juvenile it’s almost painful. So many comma splices and unrealistic moments of dialog.

That being said this is one of my comfort palette cleanser series’ that I go back to when I need a quick and easy read before tackling something huge. Like DG’s Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone, which is up right after I re-read Dentelle.

Even better than Book 1. With Lexi prepared to sacrifice herself for the sake of the ones she loves - no, all of humanity -, the story is expanding in a whole new direction.

This was a pretty good book. There were some sentences that needed to have a word added to it to make the sentences complete.

Liked this and the 1st Amethyst both a lot! The storyline is intriguing enough to keep you interested and I liked the characters and found them relate angle to as people, obviously not to thm as having special "abilities", but to them. They're all like able and I find myself picking out actresses and actors already for the movie, LOL! Currently more than half way through the last one Dentelle and it's a but slower for me, but I'm anxious to see how Lexi gets out of this one with going to rescue Ava Rose from the Evil Kieran!!! I'm sure it'll either be Ash telepathically finding her and/or bringing Jason and the rest along, but the excitement will be to see, just how they do it this time!!! Kieran keeps getting more and more diabolical. Have to admit I saw it coming when Ava Rose went missing, but wasn't sure how Lexi woul handle it! personally I think she could have relied on Ash telepathically and just to have started out with "don't look around, don't look surprised, act like you don't even hear me and aren't listening or talking to anyone,,,,no listen and do the same while listening because you ARE being watched exactly right now, I guarantee it!!! Good though!!! I'm enjoying the series and Allegiant just came out, but haven't been able to rad it because I want to finish Dentelle 1st!!!

Okay

Written from Alex's POV, her character is complex; she's likeable but yet annoying. I do like her strong personality and her humour but I didn't like how she constantly was begging Jason to be with her. She was desperate for him to return her love and literally threw herself at him. I didn't get it myself as I didn't really like his character. He was dull, stagnant and could have been written better. On the other hand Ash was funny and cared for Alex. You could feel the emotions of both Alex and Ash through the writing. I like Ash's character and thought that Alex would have better off with him. The green Guardian Jason only wanted Alex after he saw her and Ash together. Alex was with Ash all the time and they grew really close but only saw Jason occasionally which made his character barely present in this book. He was horrible to Alex on the times he was with her; his cold words and body language made me hate him and with those feelings I could feel the heartache Alex was having to go through every time she saw him. He even wanted to wipe her memory of her kissing him. I enjoyed the last bit of the book but it was slow getting there. Some of the writing was too descriptive which felt like the story dragged along. It really was a book filler. However with that said the books are actually addictive. Recommended

I have become a huge fan of this series. While the second installment didn't grab me as quickly as the first book did, it wasn't long before I couldn't put it down. I believe it's the characters that make me enjoy the series so much. I love how their relationships are unfolding, though several times I found myself pounding the arm of the chair, cursing Lexi for not just jumping into Ash's arms. Yes, I have a weakness for the bad boys! However, Ash's character is not bad in the way that you feel obligated to dislike his character. I'm quite pleased with his development actually. I find myself utterly involved in this story, sometimes I literally wanted to grab Lexi and shake her for all of the wrong decisions she has been making. In other words, the author has clearly done her job well by sucking me so personally into their world. There's a lot more action in this one and considering the nature of the story, I have no doubt the sequels will be more of the same - action packed with personal turmoil. However, I am curious, now that everyone seems to be paired up, what will the new character angst be? I'm all in and I will await book three with extreme impatience.

As an Amethyst, Lexi has the power to heal others. The problem is that she is also a Dentelle which means that she has premonitions as well. She is also in love with one of the Guardians in her group and that love is forbidden, and she also can't link to him, as that will kill both of them. Due to a premonition that she links to the leader of the Ray-Pacs, she develops the scheme to make this happen. When Ash makes a sudden reappearance into her life, she is shocked to discover that he has the premonitions too, and that he has linked to the Ray-Pacs. The difference is that he does not like what the Ray-Pacs stand for, and as of yet, he has not stolen Essence from anyone else. They discover that Lexi can share her Essence with him, and so Ash decides that he will help Lexi to bring down the Ray-Pacs. What follows is story of rediscovered friendship, new discoveries and adventure.

I really liked this new installment to the series. The reintroduction of Ash put an interesting spin to the story that really helped it to evolve. The discoveries that they make together make it even better. Definitely looking forward to the next installment.

This book was even more exciting than the first one. The bad guy is scarier and the good guys are becoming more of a team. Lexi tries to take too much onto herself though and I wish she would be more willing to let the others in and tell them what is going on, but then there wouldn't be a story right! Jason is making me so mad and I wish he would stop being such a pain in the you know where. Ash isn't much better, but at least he is taking care of Lexi. I am thinking that Jason will come around though. I think he and Lexi (Alex) are meant to be together, he just wont admit it.

This is the second book in the Guardians Series. I really liked it. Watching the romance between Alex and Jason bloom and crash and bloom again was really great. The ups and downs made the book quite a page turner and it was hard to put it down.

Also, the drama between Lexi and Ash was quite interesting. One thing that was a bit confusing was all the worry they had about Lexi linking and then in the end it ended up not boing a big deal and she just linked with Ash. Would have been nice to know why Ash's Essence turned all good, but there was no explanation of that at all.

This book wasn't well edited either. It really frustrates me because it makes the book flow funny and it interrupts the flow of it. Once I'm in the story completely, I don't want to have to stop and re read a sentence three times just to understand what it was trying to say.

I am currently reading the third and final book in the series.

OH YES! The Guardian Series book two is awesome. The story of Lexi Adams continuous. Secrets are revealed, new acquaintances are meet, better(intense) adventures/action lived, romance picks up, more characters are introduced (interesting ones). It's even better than the first one. Lexi and Ash relationship makes an interesting and powerful turn. Ash rocks! Just love him. Jason and Lexi's relationship crashes and blooms than crashes again but in the end finally happens. Great roller-coaster read. I couldn't put it down. Such great story. The reader just has to love the characters, so diverse yet so alike. Can't wait to read book three, Dentelle. I wish the series was available on print. Love it, definitely one of my favorite series. 5 Stars

Even better

Heather definitely didn't disappoint in this the second book of the series. I thought it was definitely exhilarating and thrilling, kept me glued to the book so as to read it in one sitting. Ash has stepped in to one of the more prominent roles and much h more important Jason and Alex have finally (and I do mean it's about time finally ) told each other how they really actually feel about each other. I laughed at the little side character Mrs Zimmerman, she definitely has a great personality to develop as a character but I liked how she snuck the fact the old lady knows everything about her in and even helped her. IT was so unexpected and silly just what was needed

Wow! Definite improvement seen in Linked! Heroine has awesome powers, love triangle, living a lie, betraying the guardians, trying to save lives, drama, suspense, action, romance...this book has it all. Bowhay continues with the unique storyline and completely bypasses ordinary. There is great development of the characters and their personalities in this segment. Unlike the first book there was no problem with keeping my interest. The excitement and drama carried through to the end and leaves you desperately waiting to get the next book! There was a good flow from book one to book two. You did not have to try to remember what happened or reread anything. I would recommend this book to any paranormal/YA readers.

Again poor editing. I would offer to proof-read for this author.

This installment of this series was so exciting! I was really happy with the twist in the plot and I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens. I was a little disappointed with the relationship change between Lexi and Jason. While I am glad that Jason finally decided to become romantically involved with Lexi, I feel as though the unveiling of his feelings was sudden, rushed, and out of character. It was an element that was necessary to the climax and plot development of the novel so it was clumsily inserted rather than eloquently played out.

I enjoyed this installment reading it the second time as well.

The overall storyline was still unique and interesting, but I felt this book wasn't quite as good as the first in the series. The dialogue felt very forced a lot of times, like it was obvious the author was trying to steer things in a certain direction, or needed something particular to come out of it. The plot did t just flow naturally. And the MC was a bit ridiculous. I didn't even understand her logic (if you can call it that) in coming up with her plan to save the day. And some aspects of the Amethysts, Dentelles, Guardians, and Ray-Pacs still don't make sense. But overall it was okay and I plan to finish the trilogy to find out what happens.

Linked is the perfect term

I had to give it five star. This book definitely knows how to drive you insane in wanting to know what will happen. Ash or Jason? Why the Ray packs are desperate for Alex? You find some answers. But also fall more in love with the characters. Just when you think hot dang about time some twist play out. Heather doesn't disappoint with continuing the flow of a adventorous twist, thrilling ride, and a love that fights against all. Even with the know of it being a series you get a nice conclusion per book. Love it and have enjoyed re reading it.

Awsome, awsome awsome loved this book couldn't put it down I was hoping for Alex and Jason to get together throught the whole book but ash is there with her and he knows all her secrets and Jason is also pushing her away and it seems there is no way for Alex to survive no matter what she does so her plans to save her friends will be the way she goes out and who will she end up with it anyone's guess can't wait for the next book

This is just what I expected after reading Amethyst. Though, this has more action with its Ray-pac vs Guardian battle. I liked how the story unfolds from Ash to Jason, Amethyst to Dentelle & from Ray-pac to Guardian. I was enthralled. I hope some of my questions will come to light on its book 3. Like, how did Mrs. Zimmerman knew all about them? Kinda looking forward for a little bit of history about Dentelles and their abilities.

Oh my goodness, such a whirlwind of scenarios and emotions in this one! I am so happy for Ash, for Jason, for Lexi/Alex. The massive battle between the Ray-pacs and Guardians was well written. The only thing this book has done is leave me wanting more. Thank you, Heather Bowhay, for having a magick wand that acts as a keyboard. I admire your talent more than I could ever express in a tiny review. You are truly extraordinary.

Now... I move on to Dentelle!

I thoroughly enjoyed this second installment in The Guardian Series. The romance between Lexi and Jason is sweet and heart wrenching. Even the secondary romance with Ash is endearing.

Lexi's willingness to sacrifice herself for her friends makes her one of my favorite heroines.

I can't wait to see where this series goes.

Bought this book after reading the first in the series, Amethyst. It keeps up with the wonderful world created by the author, has just enough romance, and a wonderful pace for an easy read at the beach or on a rainy day. The large vocabulary words can trip up the narrative, but I still think it's worth the read.

I like where the story went with the second book in the series. The three main characters, Lexi, Jason, and Ash are all likeable, and I was happy to see more of Ash in this story. I thought there was more excitement than the first book, and I enjoyed the battle scenes with the Ray-pacs.

This book was way better than the first one! I really loved the plot! However, I didn't feel like this book was long enough. I also don't understand a few rules of this universe. My main question is why does water affect guardians?

I just love this series, the characters were interesting. The friendship was quite solid, except for the one character who I felt was quite difficult. The interaction between the main characters was captivating and felt real. A good read.
