Riskiest Business of AllFor firefighter Caley Foster, every day is an adrenaline rush. Now that she's back in Broken Bend, Louisiana, it's clear that putting down roots may be just as tough as putting out fires. To her surprise, sweet Ava next door makes Caley's new nanny job feel fulfilling. But Ava's single father, rancher Brady McCollough, is a play-it-safe kind of fellow…not what Caley's used to facing. He's focused on protecting Ava—yet he can't ignore Caley's incredible effect on her. Or on his guarded heart. And with a leap of faith, they might both find life's best adventure: love.

A sweet romance about a rancher father and a female firefighter. Betsy St. Amant gets the balance just right to make the whirlwind romance believable, inspiring, and heartwarming all at the same time. A super quick read, perfect for a rainy day with a blanket and a cup of hot tea.
A fun, beautiful, and moving read from the amazing Betsy St. Amant! Betsy has a way of infusing deeply touching plot lines and unforgettable characters with a power punch of grace that will stay with you long after "the end." The Rancher Next Door was thoroughly enjoyable, i couldn't put it down. Probably my favorite Love Inspired romance to date! A few hours of reading doesn't get any better!
Was not very excited about this book. It took a while to even get interested and was not the kind of attention grabber that I like. Slow and hard to read because to me it didn't flow.
Although the premise is very similar to the author's last book (overprotective dad and a woman who helps him loosen up and be a real dad), I enjoyed this book because I really liked the characters. Brady and Caley are both interesting and well-developed, but the daughter Ava may be my favorite of the three.
The plot lags in the middle, but there was an great bull-on-the-loose scene at the beginning and a satisfying conclusion to even out the plot. I would have liked to see a little more of Caley in action on her job as a firefighter...to really know why she loved that career and to add a little action to the middle. I enjoy St. Amant's writing style and felt she captured the nuances of the characters and their professions perfectly.
Total side note...Caley doesn't really like Max, Brady's best friend and ranch hand. However, I found him intriguing and would love to see him get his own story. Hint, hint!
Overall, this is a sweet, enjoyable read, and fans of the Love Inspired books will want to check it out.
Brady, Caley, and Ava have been through a lot. Brady lost his wife in a tragic accident and now holds Ava very close. He's overprotective and has strict rules about her staying in the house. Outside is just too dangerous for his precious ten year old daughter. He doesn't realize it's putting a barrier between father and daughter. But Caley sees it, because that's exactly the way it was for her growing up.
The author wrote a great story about trusting God and learning to live. The choices made at the end of this book were wonderful! I loved both Brady and Caley and thought they fit perfectly together...
Book 2, "The Rancher's Secret Son," is about the ranch hand. I cannot wait to read this story!
The Rancher’ Next door is another great love inspired book by Betsy St. Amant. The book has a cowboy and a firefighter in it. However they aren’t the same person, in this book the firefighter happens to be the heroine.
I love that the love inspired line is a quick read but still focuses on faith and trusting God
