Rate this book
Once in a blue moon…
For Rafer Breaux, life in the Louisiana Bayou is harsh, violent—and deeply sensual. The Cajun werewolf lives for his Pack and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep his brothers safe. The longer a wolf lives without a mate, the harder it becomes for that wolf to shift back. To remember that he is a man—and not a monster. And those mates can only be found during a blue moon. When a blue moon finally rises, Rafer will need every weapon in his sensual arsenal to tempt one special woman into his arms and the heart of the Pack.

The Pack hunts for mates
Fighting to keep her family farm, Lark Andrews isn’t looking for love. Even if the very sexy Breaux brothers make her dream of hot bayou nights spent in their arms. When the blue moon leads Rafer to her door, however, Rafer has her rethinking her position on all work and no play. Now, the bayou nights are heating up as Rafer fights to convince her, one sensual touch at a time, to give love and passion a chance. But Rafer isn’t a one wolf deal. Is there room in Lark’s heart—and bed—for Rafer and his Pack?

This had way too many inconsistencies for me to enjoy. From the very beginning, there are contradictions in the story. Past due in her mortgage, Lark is concerned about losing her home, and she laments she'd "lose her farm in five days." In the same scene a couple pages later, it says, "The farm wasn't paradise. But it was hers. For three more days." A couple nights later, and we're back to three days again.
It's said again and again that the wolves run as a pack, but Luc isn't in the running for a mate because "The night ten years ago that the blue moon had come up and he'd run alone," he'd already found his mate. Why weren't his brothers with him? It's such an important point that the blue moon brides are given a choice of mates, but Luc went alone and only offered himself? Maybe that's why she ran, hmm? And why'd the brothers allow it if they're so hellbent on following these rules?
The whole blue moon thing bothered me as well. "That's how the blue moon works, right? At least one of us finds his mate tonight. Maybe more." Hmm, okay...but the brothers are 300+ years old, and none of them are mated? Maybe because "Over the centuries, fate had sent the Packs very few mates and even fewer blue moons," but I'm just not buying it. A simple Google look up would've told the author that blue moons happen every two to three years, sometimes even twice in one of those years. Fact-checking=simple yet oh so important.
Then there's the sex scenes, admittedly probably the most important part of the book for me. One of my pet peeves is when characters contort their bodies into impossible positions. She would have had to be beyond double jointed to complete some of these moves, and it's just not sexy picturing that exorcist-like spin of the head or dislocating a shoulder.

Sultry, Seductive, Scorching, Extremely Erotic. There's a blue moon rising and the pack is on a hunt for a mate. That blue moon leads them straight to Lark Andrews. It's hot in the Bayou, but things are about to get a LOT hotter for Lark.

“Dark things, sha.” Those old eyes watched her. “Dark don’ have to be bad. You just got to take the chance. Think about what you wan’ from this life of yours.”
"The sight of him, of that hard, raw-boned hunter worshiping her, pushed her higher. All that strength reined in. Focused on her. Safe to explore. Safe to let go."
“You want to play Little Red ridin’ Hood, I’m plenty happy to eat you up.”

This was my 2nd time reading this book & I swear it was even better this time around. Fast paced and blush inducing hot read. Now excuse me while I go splash cold water all over my body! Oh MY!!

For a short read, Tempted by the Pack was a sizzling read with a slightly new twist on wolf shifters and vampires. The idea that the Breaux brothers were running the risk of losing their human side to the wolf within, unless one of them found their mate, was rather intriguing. The story really gets going during the hunt for the blue-moon bride.

I noticed some reviewers balked at the idea that Rafer would share Lark with his brothers. I bought the moresome because it was established early on that Rafer was utterly devoted to the Pack. They were a dying breed and they were brothers. If sharing his mate prolonged the life of his brothers until they found their own mate, it was plausible. The two scenes were incredibly sensuous and didn't feel uncomfortable.

This story wasn't just fluff. There is a serious threat from vampires, and I'm glad the author didn't gloss over the battle scene. Overall, I really enjoyed the story even if there were a few minor errors in it. It ended way too soon for my liking, but I would definitely read more of this series.

Warning: Contains oral sex, anal sex, MF, MFM.

In all fairness, my rating is due in part to the fact that I don't normally read PNR. I had to read something as part of a summer challenge and this was short and best of all FREE. This is a about wolves/shifters in the bayou of Louisiana who find their mate during the "blue moon". This was a major case of "insta-love...as in, he fell in love after 2 DAYS...there is some hot sex but all in all this just wasn't my kind of read. If you're a fan of shifters/PNR you may like it.

3-1/2 rounded up I would have liked this to be longer. It had some really good bones. I just felt that the author could have included even more scenes to develop the story. I particularly enjoyed the shifter world and the idea of why the vampires were killing for the skins. I found that pretty original. Good atmosphere of the bayous. I enjoyed the hero and the heroine. I didn't think the ideas behind the multiple person sex stuff was as well thought out. On the whole I liked it well enough to try further books in the series.

I wasn't entirely impressed by this book, I enjoyed the idea of it, just think it could of been executed better. The characters felt flat to me, other than them being constantly horny, it didn't really delve into anything more. The language is also pretty coarse an to the point, there isn't much inventiveness or romantic notions whatsoever; lots of repetition. I'll read the following ones if they become free, otherwise I'm not paying for them.

yuck. What can I say. It was on my tbr shelf (from a long, long time ago) and so I read it for a challenge. It was a very typical, formulaic story about a wolf pack who looks for their mate and can only find her during a blue moon. They stalk her (and of course she's willing) and everything ends exactly how you would expect. Boring.

This was a pretty good story. I liked Lark and Rafe. Their story wasn't perfect but there was something about it that I still liked very much. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I'll probably try more of her work in the future.

Lark own a flower farm that's been in her family for generations. Her mother was a bit of a rolling stone so Lark was raised on the farm by her grandmother. Her grandmother died and left Lark the farm but by the time that happened the farm was submerged in debts. Lark hasn't been able to make enough money to cover the mortgage and believes she'll lose the farm in less than a week but is determined to work until the end and hope for a miracle.

Rafe is a werewolf and lives in the bayou with his brothers. Rafe is over 300 years old and hasn't found his mate yet and this is causing him to have issues holding on to his humanity and it's the same for his brothers as well. The vampires have been doing their best to wipe out the werewolves and hunt both the werewolves and their possible mates to kill.

Before the blue moon, Rafe is checking out the farmer's market, trying to get a sense of who the "Blue moon bride" will be. They don't know who she is until the moon shows her on the night of the blue moon but he smells Lark and is drawn to her. He hopes that she'll be the one the moon shows. Lark feels someone watching her but doesn't see Rafe. She does get some advice from the local voodoo woman about a choice Lark has coming her way. Lark has heard about Rafe and his brothers and has been curious about them but has only ever seen one from a distance. She's heard the rumors about them as well but isn't sure if she should believe them. Rafe goes to Lark's farm to buy some flowers (for Lark but she doesn't realize it) and talk to her. There's a very strong attraction between them and Rafe hopes she'll be the bride and that she'll chose him as her mate. Rafe does warn Lark that if she doesn't want to play, she shouldn't leave her house tonight. While the pack is desperate for a mate they wont push someone unwilling. The "bride" can chose any of the pack as her mate, or none or multiple mates, it's up to her.

Lark knows the legends and I'm not sure if she really believes they're true but when she hears the howls that night she feels compelled to leave her house and runs towards the wolves hunting her. When they do turn human she seems surprised that her tentative belief about what they are proved to true but accepts things pretty quickly. She's given a choice and she chooses Rafe as her mate but doesn't realize what that means. When she wakes the next day and wants to go back to her farm things get difficult for Rafe and his pack. Rafe does his best to stay near her and try to get her to accept him. She wants to but I think it's shear stubbornness that keeps her thinking she has to turn him away and work on the farm issue (even though there's nothing she can do about that). To be honest, Lark and Rafe had a communication issue because they both left things unsaid they should have talked about...one of those things being the vampires that Rafe and his pack know are headed their way to kill them all. Yes, the vamps do come and Rafe and his pack are forced to fight them. This does help things with Lark though because I think it helped her realize her priorities. They get through the attack alright and have a bit more drama about if Lark will accept Rafe and possibly the rest of the pack. Lark does accept Rafe and the pack and her and Rafe start their HEA together.

This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Lark and Rafe...they weren't perfect and because of that they felt very believable. Their story was pretty good and there was just something about it I liked (maybe it was the style of writing) and I'm sure I'll probably read more of the series in the future. I'd recommend this story. :D

* note - I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator does a pretty good job. Not the best Cajun accept I've heard but it still sounded good.

I normally steer clear of "destined mates" stories, but I decided to take a chance on Tempted by the Pack and I'm glad I did.

Tempted by the Pack is a short bit of erotica that works a short but decent plot, some nice character development, and a surprising amount of world building in among the sex scenes. I admit to skimming most of the sex scenes (once the foreplay is over I tend to get bored, and there wasn't much foreplay here--for some that's a plus). What I did read of the sex scenes was good.

Marsh isn't as polished a writer as some, but her ability to develop intriguing characters and a robust world in a fairly short story would get her a high star rating from me any day. What bumped this story to a five is the way she handles the "destined mates" part of the story.

Most destined mates stories--Christine Feehan's Carpathian series is a classic example--take away the character's agency (usually the woman's). Feehan's series is a particulary problematic version of this, with the women being told that it is their responsibility to give up control of their lives to the all-powerful males who claim them as mates. If they don't the males will turn into vampires interested only in death and destruction.

Tempted by the Pack is the first "destined mates" story that did not remove, ignore, or invalidate the human character's right to make their own choices.

That, all on it's own, is one of the most romantic things I've read in a long time.

And as a poly kinky woman, the group sex scenes and the informal power exchange in places didn't hurt either.

I wasn’t entirely impressed by Tempted By the Pack , I enjoyed the idea of it, it just felt like it could of been executed better. Not much of a begging or ending. Felt like the book need more, but as short stories go it’s a nice read especially after a heavy hitter.

The characters in this book felt a little flat. The Breaux brothers are intriguing and hot, but we don’t get much on them, I understand they will each get their own book, but it would be nice to have more background. I like Lark, she is independent and strong willed, but it was hard to picture her switching from one to two to more men. The sex scenes were good. They did not overtake the book. As for the plot well not a whole lot. The Pack has to find their fated mates on a blue moon. Their is a little conflict with vampires, but not much background is explained on this.

I got Tempted By the Pack free on Amazon. I’ll pick up the following ones if they become free, otherwise I’m not interested enough in paying for them.

This was a really good start to a new series for me this is my first time reading Anne Marsh. Rafer and his pack of brothers make their living in the Louisiana Bayou. On the Blue Moon they run to hunt and find their destined mate. Lark is the only female they run down this Blue Moon. Even though she chooses Rafer as her mate, she gets intimate with all the brothers. I'm still wondering why she changed her mind so quickly. Was it to keep the family together or was it her personal desires? She didn't know them, never talked to them, and within a day of being with Rafer she wants to be with them. A bit too fast for me. So she wanted to stay on her farm while the guys wanted to return to their home in the safety of the swamp. Rafer buys out Lark's mortgage . . .Up to this point the farm and that mortage is all she thinks about. How to save the farm. How sad she is that she's losing her inheritance. So when Rafer tells her he bought the mortgage. Overall this was an interesting start to the series. I am definitely interested in checking out the rest of the series. I enjoyed this one and am intrigued by the other brothers future prospects.

This book goes pretty much as expected, like most of the other reviewers I would have liked more at the beginning and more on the brothers, I know they'll all get their own books but it would have been nice to have more background. I liked Lark but found it difficult to imagine that she'd just switch from one to two to...well you know what's coming. The sex scenes were good and didn't take over the whole book. Again like the other reviewer I didn't like that Rafer was constantly referred to as alpha and yes I know it wasn't a title but it was confusing and again the vamp thing !!!!
So all in all this was an ok read I personally won't be reading the rest of this series since I would imagine they'll all be very similar to this one

Um … WOW! I have no other word to describe this book. This was my first Anne Marsh book and now I am wondering what the heck took me so long to read her work. Holy WOW! I was sucked in from the very beginning and found myself sinking deeper and deeper into the world of the Breaux pack. Ms. Marsh has a talent for giving the reader exactly what he or she wants and still leaving you clamoring for more. All I want to know is how quickly I can start the next book in the series. If you have yet to experience Ms. Marsh, you are only hurting yourself. Seriously!

TEMPTED BY THE PACK introduces us to the Breaux pack; 6 wolf shifting brothers that live deep in the bayou, away from the population that could ultimately be detrimental to their survival. The wolves are not as strong in number as they used to be, credited mainly to the vampires that hunt them. What is more is that the blue moon is upon them. At least one of the brothers needs to find a mate, his blue moon bride, if there is any hope of the pack reproducing future generations. But this special woman can only be found and claimed on this rare night; a night that allows her the opportunity to embrace the pack or reject them.

Although we find out about all of the brothers, this story is primarily Rafer’s. He knows who the bride is and prays that she will accept him as her mate. But the bride of this blue moon is human and unaccustomed to the traditions of the wolf packs; hell, doesn’t even believe in shifters until she witnesses the brothers in shift. Rafer is chosen as the mate, but not completely accepted. If their pack line is to continue, Rafer must be accepted in everything; body, mind, and soul. So he sets his mind to convince his mate of her place within the pack and their need for her presence. Problem is her unwillingness to leave her old life behind to begin a new one that she has only just discovered. Rafer is then faced with the ultimate challenge: to unite his mate and pack and find a way to intertwine their lives; or walk away from his brothers because of his inability to leave her.

Lark leads a simple life on her flower farm. Abandoned by her mother at a young age, she is brought up by her grandmother and left the farm upon her passing. She has worked hard and done everything within her capability to support the farm, but the bank will be taking her only home away from her in just a few short days. Top that with this pack of wolf shifters who now claim her as their blue moon bride and she is about at her coping limit. But she feels the connection and knows that there is some truth in the wolves’ revelation. However, asking her to leave the only life she has ever known is too much. She will go down with a fight or die trying. Besides, she is not entirely clear on exactly what Rafer means with all of this mate talk. Sure, she’s up for some forbidden nights with the dark and sexy male, but a lifetime? When she is struck with the realization of the truth of Rafer’s words, she faces a difficult decision. Does she want to accept Rafer? And beyond that, does she want to accept his family, or break them apart in a selfish bid to keep Rafer to herself? The future of the pack hangs on her shoulders alone.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed getting to know these characters. My time was extremely well spent. Ms. Marsh does a fabulous job of conveying the importance of family in this pack as well as the strong connection that each has; a bond that links them all together on multiple levels. The instant chemistry between Lark and Rafer is nothing short of undeniable. The sex allows the reader to delve into the forbidden, eliciting blushes and provoking a naughty curiosity to read more. I especially enjoyed how each of the brothers was introduced while Ms. Marsh simultaneously allows a balance between information presented and withheld. We find out more about Luc and Dag than the others, but still see the deep connection that extends to the other brothers despite the lesser information. Also interesting is Luc’s plotline. Provided a small glimpse into his own blue moon bride hunt, I can’t wait to see how the rest of his story unfolds.

I enjoyed watching Lark struggle with her undeniable feeling within and the war she wages in her mind of what is realistic and how much she should subscribe to. In a way, her character ultimately has to find a way to grow that allows her to maintain her own values while embracing those of the wolf pack. And Rafer … well, he exudes sex: dark, broody, and rough, yet accommodating and gentle almost to a fault. His willingness to bring Lark into the pack in her own time becomes as necessary to him as breath is to life. He quickly transitions to the Alpha that will rule her, but under that tough exterior, Rafer’s heart will be commanded by Lark.

This story is crazy stimulating. Anyone who reads it is guaranteed to be satisfied. If a reader enjoys shifters, hot sex, and the loyalty of pack that transcends a basic understanding of family, then this story is a must read. There is a bit of ménage, so be warned. And who wouldn’t want to read a story with the best line I have encountered in a long time?

“You want to play Little Red Ridin’ Hood, I’m plenty happy to eat you up.”

Fabulous, no? Additionally, Ms. Marsh teases with a snippet from the next book in the series at the end. What’s more is that she doesn’t give names of the characters so the reader is left to guess who the next book is about. If you have read Ms. Marsh then I really shouldn’t have anything to say to convince you to read this book. If you haven’t, you really need to do yourself a favor and give it a try. It is a fast read and completely engrossing. In no time flat, you will likely follow my footsteps and become an instant fan of this talented author.

Menage melodrama and scenes that if you pay any attention to them make no sense whatsoever*. Give me a break.

Kinda cute but a lot stupid

For smutt the sex scenes had way too much romance and not enough dirty. But there was way too much stupid for it to be anything else. I liked the Cajun accent but that was probably the only thing I really liked. The rest was okay to ugh.

Stops at Tome Tender December 15, 2013

Tempted by the Pack by Anne Marsh is erotic paranormal fantasy from start to finish. The need to find a mate is at a fever pitch during that one special time, when there is a Blue Moon. Mating is a pack ritual, so for the mate to accept her wolf, she can decide, to pick one wolf or the pack. For Lark and Rafer, the erotic dreams and feelings are overwhelming, but will she stay with the pack? Will she accept them all? Or will she decide after being with each of them? Will it matter? Lurking in the shadows are the evil vampires perpetuating the werewolf vs vampire theme. Will Lark strengthen the pack or run for her life?

With the sensual, sexual tension ratcheted into the boiling zone, and graphic details of each scene, every encounter and every feeling is vividly colored! White hot, with group “puppy piles” for the seasoned erotica reader, there is enough plot to make for a magnetic, short read. Any longer and my Kindle would have been a melted pile of goo!

Rafer's pack is slipping fast - they need to find mates and quickly or they will forever turn on their human sides and become a wolf forever. Unfortunately, they can only find their mates once during a blue moon (literally). Rafe is quite excited to see that Lark Andrews is this blue moon's bride. He only hopes that she will be able to accept the fact of what he is and what his entire pack needs.

This is one of the few paranormal books I've read that had a serious freak out - OMG you're a werewolf?!?!?! moment. It was fantastic!!! Lark was such a believable character you felt drawn to here immediately. Now Rafer - well he was quite the hot little piece - and he knew just what to do to get Lark going in all the right ways. Now he just needs to convince her to take the whole pack into her heart to save them all. The fact that it's set in the Louisiana bayou - a favorite setting of mine - only added to the mystique of it all.

To top it all off, the sex was great and there was even time for a few heated battles (won't say more about that - can't ruin the surprise). Even though you know how the story is going end - the route that Anne Marsh took to get there left you wondering what was going to happen to get them there with every page

Looks like Anne Marsh hit another homerun out of the park as far as story and series goes. I really enjoyed this book. Characters and story intrigued me from the start. I've always loved wolves...in any form. I liked the brothers' relationship with each other and with Lark, but honestly I could've done without the orgyish scene. The true alpha male is usually at odds with sharing even w/in his own pack. So I didn't buy it 100%. Other than that, the sex is hot as always with Anne, But that scene was just plain uncomfortable for me...five males/1 female. Threesomes aside I don't usually like when a heroine actually has intercourse with someone who's not the hero in a book anyway but that's just me. The brothers hold my interest enough to look forward to the rest of the books in the series for sure especially Luc. It was a good read check it out!

Pack beta Rafer believes he's scented his mate and he hopes the blue moon will confirm that it's Lark Andrews. Lark is human but has heard the tales and warnings about the Bayou's Breaux brothers.

Rafer Breaux, wolf shifter is determined to claim Lark as his mate and convince her to return to the swamp with him and his pack. Before he can, he must fight his vampire enemy to protect Lark and her farm. But Rafer ultimately may have to make the biggest decision of all... choose between his mate and his pack.

Tempted by the Pack has lots of steamy smexy scenes, super engrossing winner-take-all fight between wolves and vamps, and scorching chemistry between Rafer and Lark.

Overall I enjoyed this story, but the pack group scene after Lark had chosen Rafer to be hers, somehow felt awkward and unnecessary to me.

I got this book as a free read through BookBub. The cover looked interesting and it was about werewolves so I figured what the heck. It wasn't labeled that it would have strong sexual language or content. I wouldn't recommend it for young teens.

All in all I liked the book. The attraction between Rafer and Lark was great. She is a strong woman and got a chance to keep her personality a little without having to give it up being with Rafe.

There are a couple of twists and turns in the book I wasn't expecting and that is what literally threw me for a loop. But, all in all it was great. Read the 1st chapter for the 2nd book Pleasured by the Pack and am looking forward to that being available soon on BookBub as well.

Lark has come back to Louisiana and is trying to pay off the mortgage of her grandmother's flower farm. But now there is a Blue Moon coming and Momma Jolie has told her that shifters will be coming out tonight to play and if she wants to play with them to run. Maybe she does want to play but with one of them...or maybe all?

If you are into group sessions then you'll enjoy this book although personally this is not one for me and I will not be going any father into the series. If it was just Lark and Rafer than that would have been fine but more than one and I have lost all interest. Open at your own risk.

Rafer Breux knew it was her. Lark Andrews, human, was a blue moon bride. His or one of his brothers was the question. When Lark was thrust into the world of wolf shifters, she knew she wanted Rafer but was she ready for the entire pack? No matter what, it is her choice. Accept them or not?

Fantastic start to an amazing series. Anne Marsh knows how to write an amazing shifter romance. The Breux brothers are hard, sexy, built and will lay it all on the line for the chance at their mate. I can't wait to read more!

It was a good for a quick read and a good start to a new series.
Rafer and his pack of brothers are trying to find their mate on the Blue Moon. She must run to be hunted but not in a dangerous way but a sexual one. Lark is the female Rafer believes is their mate and she does chooses him but she still does becomes intimate with all the brothers quickly after. I don't understand the change of mind but I guess the other books in this series will give more information on it. Not bad for a free book.

I am a huge fan of paranormal that started with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the premise of this book intrigued me. I went in with open eyes and from the first page, I was hooked. Anne Marsh grabs ahold of you and doesn't let go until the last page. It's hot, hot, hot and there was a part of me that wanted to be Lark. I mean, who wouldn't? If you're looking for a sizzling hot paranormal romance to light your fire on a cold night, this is the book for you!

Aggressive, domineering males, and women who love them (Not Me!).
He's telling her when, where, and how, NO Arguments allowed, and she's getting wet because of it.
Seriously, is it just me, but I've never gotten so wet over a guy it dripped down my leg... That just sounds sooo ick..
I was really enjoying the story other than that. Pity.
It's just not my thing, pushes every button I have, the wrong way.
For those whose fantasy buttons follow in this direction, story was good, writing okay.

Pretty good story, though I wish it was longer. I guess I will just have to read the next books in the series. It was well written, but it felt a bit like the author was hesitant to go too far. It is hard for me to explain, but I like the author would build an amazing scene, but once it reached it climax would somehow fizzle out. Still, I did enjoy it.
