Sawyer never it saw it coming. He never expected Jesse to finally respond to him. He never expected the meteors to take out LeVeque tower. He never expected an old woman to try and eat his face off. Sawyer thought that when he went into work that night it just be another boring evening at the bookstore. But the impromptu quickie in the bathroom is just the beginning. Sawyer, with his gorgeously infuriating boss Jesse, his best friend Chloe and her little brother Jaden are in for more than a boring night.
The undead are rising up and they will have to find their way through the aftermath. With the aid of Jesse's wryly sexy ex-lover/best friend Topher, they will attempt to head south to find a safe haven in a world turned to bedlam. But with the government keeping secrets and the infected turning, it'll prove that the nightmare is far from over.
As Sawyer struggles to come to terms with his new world, he'll also face the conflicting truth that he is in love with not one, but two, men.
It leads him to ask life's great can you find love in a zombie apocalypse?

Since biographies aren’t my thing, I’ll put it simply: I write. Sometimes it’s amazing. Sometimes it’s horrible. But it’s always mine.
I have three series: The Theo Bourne Series, my award winning Meteora Trilogy, and my bestselling The Last Canticle. I also have a stand alone novel and run a semi-successful fantasy writing blog. I’m currently in between projects and struggling to balance writing, a cat, and my own narcotic thoughts.

As a big zombie fan who had a positive experience with one other book from this author, I had to see what I Am Here was all about. An attractive cover and particularly three men on it, worked like a charm and as soon as I got it, I jumped into the zombie apocalypse.
Sawyer works in a bookstore and has the hots for his boss Jesse. Their attraction comes to its peak on the night when there is a meteor shower everyone else just has to see, but instead of solving their boss/employee relationship they end up defending themselves from biting old ladies and the still walking dead. The action, both plot related as well as the sexual, starts right away, and before you know it, you have two guys who are crazy about each other killing zombies. Personally, I really like fast paced stories with well-developed fight scenes and well thought through plot, both of which I found here.
As they run, they rescue Sawyer’s best friend, Chloe and her little brother and eventually meet up with Topher, Jesse’s ex and still a very good friend.
The ménage itself develops rather late and even then I thought it lacked the chemistry which was obvious between Sawyer and Jesse as well as Sawyer and Topher. It’s really hard to incorporate romance into something as gore filled as a zombie story and there were plenty of times where I either noticed the inconsistencies or rolled my eyes at inappropriate situations where the main characters decided to have sex. I suppose it’s a curse when you watch as many zombie related movies/shows as I do, to pick apart each action and pay attention to details.
Anyway, my main issue here was the amount of sex, which frankly pulled me out of this fast paced story. I feel there’s just no room for it when each minute is danger filled and you’ve just spent your day killing people you used to know and actually still have their blood in your hair and clothes.
Sawyer as a character was someone I liked the least. He had his good moments and I do like bratty characters, but his outbursts seemed more acted out than a part of his personality. Topher was my definite favorite and I can’t get over how little there was of him in the story as well as the relationship. Maybe its partially just my impression because I liked him so much, but the story had involved him to a bigger extent.
As apocalypses go, this was a good one. From losing your loved ones, to military involvement it probably falls under ‘classic’ category, but the author has a flair for action and it shows. So if you lack zombies in your life, pick this up and read about what’s it like to find yourself surrounded by people who want to eat you and all the imaginative ways how to escape that fate.
A steamy zombie apocalypse menage story. It's a very fast-paced read, but lacks in writing quality.
The main character, Sawyer, is a blond sarcastic drama queen torn between two alpha-males - way too chick-with-a-dick for my tastes! But it's actually got me a bit nostalgic over my m/f romance days.
There are things I like and don't like about this book. I loved the idea behind what caused the people to turn into zombies. I like how the zombies are traditional ones and the people have to keep moving from place to place searching for food and safe places to stay. Finally, I love that the book has a menage.
One of the things that I did like had to do with the sex. The scenes were hot and fun, but like several others I have read, the places and timing were off. I just can't see anyone caring that much for sex that they would risk there safety for it. I was also put off a bit with Sawyer. He just feels slightly whiney to me. I keep hoping he'll become braver.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I am interested enough in what is happening in the series to read more. Sure, there were a couple of drawbacks, but the storyline for the most part made sense. I also really enjoyed most of the characters and kept cheering for them throughout. So, good job on the series.
If I had read this a year ago, I would have given it four stars. A year ago, this I hadn't read any m/m zombie books....well...any that were good. But since then I have read some excellent ones. This one is pretty good. It kept my interest. I did get annoyed a few times. Like why did everyone STOMP everywhere. And I seriously rolled my eyes at the 10 inch penis. In the beginning I thought it was a little immature. Maybe it was Sawyer, or maybe it was the reason for the zombies coming strait out of a 80's movie. But as I read on, I started liking it more and more. It never dragged, and I couldn't stop reading it. Sawyer grew on me. I liked all of the cast...but I didn't love them. As zombie Apocalypse books go, it's worth the read. It's not one of my favorites...but it was pretty good. I'm glad I read it.
3.5 stars - A roller coaster of a ride, this one. Kept me on the edge of my seat as our MC and his makeshift family fought to survive a zombie apocalypse. Sawyer's quite the character, his reactions/thoughts utterly real, ranging from humorous to terrified in a way that made me sympathize with him and just love him. His men, Jesse and Topher, were awesome as well, giving us a delicious threesome worthy of drool and fantasizing. I did think the somewhat frequent sex scenes were a bit unrealistic under such circumstances, but hell, I'm not complaining! The zombie aspects of the story reminded me a lot of movies such as 'The Crazies' and 'Legion', so I could picture perfectly the horror our group of survivors were experiencing. Talk about creepy and terrifying. This is definitely a great addition to some of my favorite zombie books. Recommended for sure.
I'm not much of a zombie fan, but this isn't really a zombie story once the Infected start becoming the Mutated. The one problem that I have (and others have pointed out about M/M books written by female authors), is that one of the main characters could easily be replaced with a female character with very little editing.
I am all for the sci-fi, apocalyptic-type books. The fact that this story turned into a male-male-male romance? Even BETTER! Vivid imagery with the zombies and I just love Sawyer's first-person accounting. Can't wait for the next book....Hoping Ms. Shepherd writes FAST!
If you like your zombie movies you should read this one. But some scenes not for the faint hearted! The MMM romance fits perfectly too with the right amount of angst.
I absolutely loved this book! Then again, I love zombie/post-apocalyptic/horror fiction. The fact that it was M/M was even better. The fact that it was M/M/M gave it even more bonus points. The fact that it had an enthralling storyline, amazing MC's and perfect pacing easily made it one of my all-time favorite reads.
Sawyer, Jesse and Topher were charismatic and relatable characters. The three young men shared a palpable sexual chemistry that added the perfect amount of heat to offset the chill of the horror sequences.
The horror was horrific. The sex was sexy. The story was riveting. This story was reminiscent of the Kick at the Darkness series by Keira Andrews, another favorite of mine. However, this book was different enough that it stands on it's own as a creative, original and gripping read.
If you like post-apocalyptic horror, zombies and sexy M/M reads, this is a no-brainer. If this sort of thing makes you squeamish, you may want to skip it as it pulls no punches.
