Jonathan Bishop spent his immortal life waiting for the one woman to come along who could survive the transition from mortal to immortal. After nine hundred years of choosing the wrong one and watching her wither away and die, Bishop has all but given up on finding his mate until his closest friend urges him to try one last time but this time allow the spell he casts to call forth his intended. Avirea Blackwell is an American on vacation in London. After spending the first two days in her hotel room because of the rainy weather, she decides it?s time to venture out and see the sights. Two hours into her walking tour a thick bank of fog keeps redirecting her until she becomes lost. Her only reprieve from the storm comes in the form of a hotel entrance which she immediately runs into. When Bishop sees Avirea for the first time he?s disgusted. She?s average looking and there is absolutely nothing interesting about her and refuses to accept that she is his mate. With a little convincing from his friend Marsters, he attempts to get to know the woman he shunned on first sight. Before his very eyes he watches as she transforms from a caterpillar into a beautiful Butterfly. But has his acceptance of her come a little too late?
I am not really into this Genre and hadn't really though about giving it a try before especially with the parts of it being a love story, but I decided to give it a try. The book was very interesting, it kept you in suspense and it was very arousing. I would have liked to have more of the prison and prisoners take place in the book more than what it did. I wasn't sure I was going to get into but I found myself liking it especially more towards the end when the book took a turn and Mr. Crick's comes in to play. Over all the book was worth reading and I definitely would recommend the book to anyone reading this review and to any person I might meet who would be very interested in this genre.
Avirea Blackwell is a recent college graduate. At 24, she is one of the youngest to graduate with an MBA from Harvard University, and rewards her efforts by taking a two-week trip to London. Three days into her trip, she has been stuck in her hotel due to rain. On day 4 the sun breaks, and she ventures out into the city to have a look around.
While sight-seeing, Avirea finds herself in an unfamiliar part of town, and a thick fog is coming in. The rain returns and Avirea seeks refuge in a hotel called “Hotel DeLuge”. A man named “Masters” appears, and ushers Avirea into an office, believing she is there for a job interview. She tries to explain that she is a tourist, not an applicant, but she ends up in the interview anyway.
Avirea – single, no family, no job and a recent graduate – is offered the job and decides to give it a shot. What she doesn’t realize is that the owner of the hotel is not only gorgeous, but is a 900 year old warlock. Jonathan Bishop has been looking for his soul mate his entire life, and can only embark on the dating scene once every 100 years. Once he meets Avirea, (with help from his assistant, Masters), he is sure that she is the one, and is determined to do whatever it takes to make her his bride.
This is a story of love, honesty, friendship, intimacy and fighting for those you love. There are twists, turns, and lots of steam! Readers will definitely enjoy this book, and may end up wanting to find a warlock of their very own.
This has to be one of the most beautiful love stories I have read. It is gorgeous and sumptuous and just oh so endearing. It does have a paranormal twist to it with Jonathon Bishop being 985 year old warlock and a wardon at a magical prison. He casts a spell that will bring him the other half of his being and it brings him Avirea, a 100% human buisness graduate. Avirea is not his usual type in terms of looks but when he looks beyond her looks her beauty shines through and with a little bit of confidence she flurishes into a butterfly. It is truly a magical story about the developing of love and attraction and also that beauty is more than skin deep: inner beauty is more powerful. A gem of a read that I adored.
Fantasy contemporary romance with an immortal dude looking for his mortal (but possibly immortal?) love while living in a Hotel in London. I really wanted to like this story because the idea of wizards living in plain sight in London (Harry Potter style) is very interesting. This wasn't about the real world because the minute Avirea Blackwell enters Jonathan Bishop's hotel, she is basically swallowed up by his life and work. I get that she has no living family left, but we don't get through college and Harvard Business school with out leaving our mark and it would be impossible to disappear so completely as Rea is going to have to in order to become immortal. Someone should edit this book again, there is lots of errors like 'to' instead of 'too' which is very basic high school English class stuff which made me take away a star. The story is silly fluff, but if that is what you're looking for then you've found it here. The magic was never explained except as potions? The world building and physical rules of this cosmos should have been made more clear because it was all very murky. I was really hoping that the ball and Rea's birthday being on the same day would have been more meaningful. 244 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
I like the overall concept for this book. It is different and imaginative. However, I feel that the concept would be better realized with more length added to the story. Parts of the book seem a bit rushed, and thus less believable.
The story really needs another proofread. There are several times that words are misspelled; the wrong tense, or the incorrect version of similarly sounding words (i.e. passed rather than past), is used.
The stories of love, family and fate still weave throughout the book in a more abridged form. The more intimate moments provide steam and interest. The transformations that soulmates engender in one another is obvious and very believable. Devotion and love make butterflies of us all.
While I am not in love with the end result, I like it well enough.
To be honest, about halfway through this book I rolled my eyes and thought 'oh great another she leaves him and he begins to wither away to nothing without his mate type book' but I was pleasantly surprised as this was not the case. For once not only were the males strong characters but the females were too. Even if they did crumple to those eyes...... Well written and not as predictable as it may seem. Loved it!
