"We shared parents, Christmas holidays, governesses and lovers! Aren’t we just the perfect siblings!"

Series 1.3- Singapore, 1956

In this story, you get to see the affects of being immortal and watching the people we love die.

"You’re nothing but a Phantom, Dorian. A shade that shouldn’t exist!"

Never more so for Dorian than with his sister Isadora (played by the wonderful Katy Manning) The scenes between the two were beautiful chaos- there is always something about sibling rivalry that brings the worst out of us.

Dorian meets his babysister after so many years in rather unpleasant circumstances. Creepy and enjoyable.

"So I was in Singapore..." *people speaking Korean in the background* xD

But who actually cares when there's Alex Vlahos as Dorian Gray whispering sweet nothings in your ear telling you some creepy stories with his awesome voice?

I listened to the audiobook for Book 10: The Immortal Game before listening to Book 3: The Twittering of Sparrows. Didn't even know it was a series until I saw it in my library's Overdrive listing. I prefer Book 10 to Book 3.

Second read: Listened to the story again and realised the sadness in it.

So we shared parents, Christmas holidays, governesses AND lovers.
Aren’t we just the perfect siblings.

The Twittering Of Sparrows is the only Dorian story I’ve heard so far that in my opinion fails to hit it’s attempt to tug at the heart strings due to underdevelopment of the main character primary to the plot. Katy Manning is incredible as ever but I just couldn’t make myself care about Dorian’s sister or what happens with her. I like the ambience and the idea of the dragons but for me It felt like blinking and then suddenly being at the climax of the story. I hardly was jumping up and down wondering ‘oh my god what’s going to happen’. It’s not to say it’s bad, it is worth a listen it just doesn’t come out well compared to the stonking great stories in the range.
