But Peter won't let her go so easily - especially when the truth behind the accusations comes to light...

Didn’t Quite Make Sense

This is a new author to me, and as Regency is my favorite romance subgenre, I’m always hoping to find a new author I’ll enjoy. If you're familiar with the concept of compromise, from either other Regency books or even Bridgerton, this book starts off showing the effects of it, even years later. The details of the ruination aren't explicitly stated until well into the book, but you can see its effects not only on the heroine, and her lost hopes, to paraphrase Jane Austen, but also on her family, who has suffered financial losses because of connections who have now turned their backs on them. The book is super slow moving, so much so to be far too slow for its relative length. In all honesty, not much happened other than introducing all the players and seeing their initial interactions for far too long. Most disappointing about the story, though, was how the heroine reacted to the hero—even though she knew him pretty well by the time everything went down--when he had his own ruination/compromise situation. From what we saw of her and them together, it just made little sense. Because of these reasons, I do not feel like I can recommend this book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

A sweet story

I enjoyed reading this sweet story, though it could use another editing, or at least spell check on the names. At least they were close enough that I could understand who was being referred to. I also had a hard time with how many times people jumped to conclusions about a person they supposedly loved or cared for. Each of those critiques cost this book a star from me.
