Chloe Madison arrives aboard the Quantum Empress, Earth's second largest space cruiser, intending to reunite with her estranged father during the launch of Madison Robotics' latest line of robots, the Series 12.
When the Quantum Empress is sabotaged by the United Church of Mankind (UCOM), a group vehemently opposed to humanity's growing reliance on robots, Chloe must make her way through the shattered spaceship, accompanied by the Madison family robot, Jackson, avoiding UCOM's foot soldiers as she races to rescue her father, Steven Madison.
When escape finally beckons, Chloe is given an impossible choice: surrender herself on the bridge of the Quantum Empress, or UCOM will execute its hostages.
With time slipping away, Chloe must draw on all of her courage to save her father and fight for the rights of humans and robots alike, against a group willing to destroy a spaceship and everyone on board in order to further their agenda.
The worldbuilding is fascinating, the good characters are believable, and the story is a thrilling page turner. I admit I cried at the reunion scene. I enjoyed this sci fi story, and I'm looking forward to book 2.
