Navy SEAL Bjornolf Jorgenson has had tough missions before, but going undercover with feisty gray wolf Anna Johnson could top the list. She drives him crazy—in more ways than one. Now he has to investigate a murder, supervise a wild teenage wolf—and handle Christmas with Anna.
Survive the Holidays with her?
For Anna, the only thing worse than staging the perfect family Christmas is having to do it with Bjornolf posing as her husband. Anna is a serious undercover operative who isn't afraid of a fight, even with a hunky SEAL shifter. With a killer on the loose, Anna just wants to focus on their mission, but the one thing she can't fight is her sizzling chemistry with Bjornolf.
Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.
She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

I’m a big fan of Terry Spear and her “Heart of the Wolf” and “Heart of the Jaguar” series. The world she creates for her Wolves and Jaguars is believable.
“A Seal Wolf Christmas” brings together Navy Seal Bjornolf Jorgenson and Undercover Operative Anna Johnson. Bjornolf recognizes and accepts that Anna is quite capable of protecting herself, but he’s ready and willing to watch her back. Anna and Bjornolf are such strong capable characters and they complement each other perfectly.
In “A Seal Wolf Christmas” the characters and story all weave together to create a book that will hold your attention from the first page to the last. We get mystery and danger, as well as, a good dose of the Christmas spirit. It is fast paced, sexy, suspenseful and heartwarming. We get fun characters plus a chance to see characters from other books as well as meeting new ones.
I am a huge fan of Terry Spear and her gloriously imaginative stories. Once again, Spear's envelopes us into the fascinating shifter world in A SEAL Wolf Christmas.
Retired Navy SEAL Bjornolf has had a thing for undercover operative Anna Johnson for some time now. Never pushing for any kind of attachments, both have kept their relationship professional. Nothing will get these two together if this assignment can't push these two gray wolves over the edge...acting as newlyweds inside the Oregon wolf pack during the holidays.
They both have baggage, they both are loners and now they come together to help an orphaned young shifter wolf.
I completely enjoyed watching Bjornolf and Anna's relationship change from cover to hot and heavy. The romantic attraction was as thick as a Christmas pudding and I gloried in observing it becoming more.
Spear brings in tons of back characters making it a Christmas to remember as well as giving us a fantastic side story of young teen love.
A fabulous holiday infused storyline, Terry Spear's wolves are a perfect way to ring in the Christmas spirit.
I received this ARC copy of A SEAL Wolf Christmas from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication September 24, 2013.

A SEAL Wolf Christmas by Terry Spear is an exciting addition to her Heart of the Wolf Series. It is fast paced, sexy, suspenseful and heartwarming. I loved Bjornolf and Anna and their interactions together. They are such strong capable characters and they complement each other perfectly. I’m always a fan of a badass heroine and Anna is that and more. Bjornolf recognizes and accepts that Anna is quite capable of protecting herself but he’s ready and willing to watch her back. He loves and appreciates her for who she is. It’s a joy reading along and they come together. In this book Anna must deal with a past heartache and in the process learns to enjoy and appreciate life, love and family.
A Terry Spear novel would not be complete without interesting and compelling side characters and A SEAL Wolf Christmas does not disappoint. Nathan is a sweet and charming secondary character and I enjoyed reading more about him. Hunter, Tessa and Hunter’s OP team get some page time as well. The characters and story all weave together to create a book that will hold your attention from the first page to the last.
A SEAL Wolf Christmas is a great holiday read which leaves behind a nice warm and fuzzy feeling. It and the entire Heart of the Wolf Series is recommended to fans of Paranormal Romance.
Tis the Season Werewolf Style! I haven't read that many paranormal romances set during the Christmas season so this was a fun blend of warm fuzzy with romantic suspense.
This one is part of an ongoing series and I did read it out of order (gasp, I know- it was the holiday element that pulled me in). While I had no trouble following the main storyline and grasped the Heart of the Wolf world, I wouldn't recommend reading it as a standalone because there were many references to other couples and a few minor plot threads involving these others. The big reason to get it in order was because the main characters were introduced in another book and this is a continuation of that story thread.
The current book begins with Bjornoff Jorgensen, a werewolf and former Navy SEAL who now takes private jobs and missions, shadowing an all werewolf special mission team at the request of a couple of the guys' mates to keep them safe. His job is to let the team run their mission of rescuing a wealthy family who has been kidnapped in the Colombian jungle, but to ghost them as back-up if something goes wrong. He's done it before and he has a reputation of being good at it. Then when the team goes to take out the kidnappers, he has to break cover to save Anna Johnson, one of the team member's life. He's had a soft spot for Anna since he met her.
Anna is a trained operative and she likes being part of a team and they like having her on the team, but she always feels that as a female that she has to prove to them that she is capable. Now the lone-wolf and very able-bodied male, Bjornoff, has broken cover where he was watching over their team to help them get the victims out of the jungle alive. His very proximity distracts her a lot.
All is not as it seems with the kidnap victims and the team knows that somehow they've been played even if they can't work out how or why, but they have a mission to complete so they do. That is when Hunter, an alpha wolf and the team leader, requests both Anna and Bjornoff to take a mission right within the lands of Hunter's pack in Oregon over the holidays. They'll pose as a newlywed couple to their teenage nephew who has been working at a Christmas Tree Farm. Nathan, a younger orphaned wolf smells foul play when he picks up the scent of blood and rot from two dead werewolves though the bodies can't be found. By posing as the guardians of their nephew, they'll be in perfect position to investigate.
Anna has been on many tough missions, but this one will push her harder than any others. Between her attraction to Bjornoff, her averse feelings about Christmas because of her past and mentoring an orphaned teen, the rest of the mission sounds like the fun part.
Bjornoff has worked alone for a long time, but he sees where all this attraction is taking him and he embraces this opportunity with Anna and Nathan even if it means taking out and dusty off his long forgotten holiday spirit.
This story was one of those that on one level I could enjoy for nice holiday escape reading and could really root for Bjornoff, Anna and even Nathan as I read through the story, but there was also a part of me that never really fully engaged the characters and actions. There were no glaring things that jumped out to turn me off of the story, but yet I just didn't get sucked in. In trying to describe why, I'll just say that everything felt mild and didn't flow well to me whether it was the mission in the jungle, the couple's attraction, or the mystery at the farm. Bjornoff and Anna's page time was reduced and so development in their characters and relationship wasn't as strong as I would like it. Numerous people new and familiar from the rest of the series and their little stories were popping in and out making my focus wander leaving me distracted. Again, nothing awful or glaring, just a few niggles.
What I did love was seeing them all engaged in the Christmasy activities that helped draw them closer and spark the beginnings of a new put together family. Bjornoff and Anna both have sad things in their pasts that keep them from enjoying the holiday and Nathan is determined that the holiday will not be ruined because of the losses from his past. They put together a stable family and helped heal old wounds. I loved it.
So all in all it was a good read that fans of the series and paranormal romance lovers will enjoy. It offers a strong taste of the holidays and a nice blend of spicy and sweet for the romance.
My thanks to Sourcebooks and Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I really like the mystery and adventure of these books, there were plenty of fun twists and turns. Although some of the events were predictable they were still enjoyable to read. However, the “romance” and wolf lore of the series is full of holes and this book is the worst. Ana and Bjornolf are great characters but I am not a fan of them being together. I wish they had each found someone else and got their own books. Ana and Bjorn first met in book 9 when he was full on, hard core lusting after Meara. His goal was to mate with her. He showed zero interest in Ana. So now a few months later he goes on a mission with the team and figures Ana ain’t half bad. And Ana never called him out on it. This story wasn’t romantic to me, it was more of a well we’re both single and love guns so we might as well mate. When they declared their love for each other I rolled my eyes. Really? When you initially met each other you were completely indifferent, now one mission (and they had no alone time) and few days later your ready to spend the rest of your long lives together and are in love? Please.
Throughout all twelve books the running theme has been since wolves mate for life after they have sex, humans are used to satisfy sexual urges in the meantime in-between time. So why was so much of the book spent telling Nathan to leave Jessica the human alone? Isn’t that what humans have been for all along? They said in this book that the aging process slows down after puberty. So even if the aging process changes after puberty ends, which around 18, this kid has another 90 years before he hits age 20. 90 years as a teenage boy, with no sexual outlet of any kind? No wonder most of the male wolves are nuts.
And finally what annoys me to no end about these books, the mating. In order to mate with a wolf for the rest of their incredibly long lives all they do is have sex. There is no mystical force driving them together. There is no bite mark made to identify someone as mated. There is no scent change. There is no public ceremony. There is no ring, or necklace, or tattoo exchange. Two people have sex and that’s it. Your stuck, until someone dies. Book 11 covered spousal abuse and forced marriage, yet the heroine Elaine was still mated with no recourse in wolf society. And not once in the book was there an outcry of injustice for female wolves. This book briefly addresses rape, again there was no moment when someone said “Hey, maybe we should change these mating rules.” Female wolves are few and far between, so you’d think their health and happiness would be a cultural priority. But not so much. Also what happens if one wolf lies or denies. What if two wolves hook up and one changes their mind right after the sex. Wolf #1 goes off to tell their buddy’s they’re mated, but Wolf #2 just looks around and says I don’t know what they’re talking about. What then? Or what if Wolf #3 lies and says they mated Wolf #4 but they never had sex. What then?
I also wonder why aren’t there as many wolf shifters as there are humans? They are long lived, don’t get any human diseases (or ill at all), they have no fertility issues, and pregnancies usually result in multiple births. Not to mention the fact that humans can be turned, so why don’t they at least equal in human population if not outnumber us? This book also spent time with the Wolves and Jaguars in the same vicinity, but somehow they still don’t know about each other. So much for superior sense of smell and age old wisdom.
The next book really needs to address some things. Like where did the wolves come from, are they a different branch of evolution or something else. What is the deal with the dumb ass mating rule, is there a reason and when will it change? When are the Jaguars and Wolves finally going to meet? Are there other shifter groups out there? What about Vampires and Fairies? Aliens? Are there other supernatural groups out there in this universe?
I read the book before this one in the series, A Highland Werewolf Wedding (Heart of the Wolf, #11) , and enjoyed it. I had high hopes for this one.
Instead, I found myself confused on more than one occasion:
There were so many plot holes, I just couldn't look past them and get into the story.
The coincidences are just so thick, and they didn't always add up.
So, while I wanted to like this, I just really couldn't. Not every book is written for every reader, and that is the case here. I've seen many reviews from people that loved it and I will certainly read more by Ms. Spear as I really enjoyed the previous book.
If you are looking for the perfect book to get you in the mood for Christmas this is the book for you. I loved this story. Both characters give off the tough impression, as they are both fighters. Both have struggled with connecting with other, both loner wolfs. But when they end up on a mission together, a spark connects them to each other. Then they go on another mission together, posing as a married couple, watching out for a teenage wolf who recently lost his parents. I really loved the theme of this story. The heroine Anna lost everything right before Christmas, and has never felt the holiday. That is until she meets the teenage boy who teaches her the magic of Christmas and Anna although has a tough exterior, has a vulnerability, one that only Bjornwolf will reach and teach her the power of true love. I loved this story, it was fun, sweet and tender. Not my favorite of this author, but a very enjoyable read, and perfect kind of book to read for the season. Get ready to jingle all the way to the power of true love in a setting that is rich and will keep you fully satisfied.
Bjornolf- The tough Navy seal Wolf who needs no one and ask him to go flying under the radar Anna- alone girl I miss you ops team never thought she needed anyone until one sexy wolf changed her mind Nathan - the teen wolf who Anna and Bjornolf have to look after Jessica - the human girl Nathan loves who just happens to smell like a wolf.
The plot:
Bjornolf and Anna are sent to pretend to foster Nathan a teen wolf who recently lost his parents but really they are on an undercover mission to discover where to missing DEA agents might have gone and investigate after Nathan smells wolf blood at the Christmas tree farm he works for and the plot thickens from there in the werewolf mystery romande.
The verdict:
I have been reading spears heart of the wolf series for while now and I really like how it's one giant universe that branches off into all these other series the world building is pretty good. This is one of my favorites so far the story kept me interested and one of the things that made this one stand out for me is the major role the teens played in this book in her past books teens are some times a part of the story but most of the Time there just in the background. Watching there story unfold too along with Anna and Bjornolf was fun another cute book from this author.

I love these books. I don't think there's anything that she writes I didn't really good. And this one to operatives come together when is considered the ghost nobody ever see him when he's behind everybody kind of covering them and they don't know it and the other is the one it's on the main roof team of seals. She was never steal she was just in operative. They came together in the first book and in the second but he's been thinking of her. The main seal Hunter comes up with a plan and also need their help in figuring out what's going on in his pack or he puts them together is a newly made a couple taking care of a teen boy who lost his parents and was a runaway. And it's Christmas so it makes for a fun book.
While this is part of a series, you don't have to read the whole thing in order to enjoy it. However, there are references to earlier books, which makes sense since they don't live in a vacuum, they live in communities and interact with each other. In fact, that is one of the things I like about the series, the fact that I can snicker over a reference to something that I read in an earlier book, or if I haven't read one particular book, I can picture it anyway based on the way the world was built. I like that the characters are not static, they grow and change. This enables Anna and Bjornolf to be ready to come together now, where they would not have been at the beginning of the series. The mystery had some twists and turns which made it interesting.
Bjornolf Jorgenson is a former Navy SEAL and is now considered a ghost since he shadows units on missions. He now has a tough mission to go ghost gray wolf, Anna Johnson, she is feisty and gets under his skin in more than one way. Now they have to investigate a murder, play aunt and uncle to a teenage wolf and pretend to both like Christmas. Anna thought there was nothing worse than Christmas, now Christmas just got more complicated because she has to pretend to be the wife to Bjornolf. Anna takes her job seriously and isn't afraid of a fight, even if it will be with a Navy Seal who can rattle her composure. However, a killer is on the loose and has targeted Anna. Will she lose focus on this mission while trying to fight her sizzling attraction to Bjornolf?
We have Bjornolf & Anna - both ex-SEALs asked to pose as a newlywed couple looking after an orphan kid who's working at a suspicious Christmas tree farm. Since it's a Christmas story, quite a few of the other couples make an appearance. Probably would have been better to read during Christmas time.
This is part of a loosely grouped set of books that feature different mixes of familiar characters. They always have a decent plot with periodic bouts of very steamy sex scenes, as is typically found in the genre. But Terry does provide a higher bar than just the usual shifter stories, as there is usually snarky comments and sometimes humor. Fun!
Once again, Spear turns up the heat in this holiday adventure of a SEAL wolf and a sexy operative. A SEAL Wolf Christmas is a sizzling page-turner, delightful and tantalizing read that will get your heart pumping.
Bjornolf and Anna have been working together on missions. Their latest mission may be their hardest. This was such a good fast moving book. It kept my attention and was very interesting!
I really enjoyed this book! It's my first book of Terry Spear and won't be my last! Even tho Christmas is over this is a great fast read! Give it a try and then let me know.
4+ stars . A SEAL Wolf Christmas .. A SEAL Wolf Christmas is 12 in the Heart of the Wolf series I believe. While this can be totally read on its own, no problem, it would be greatly enhanced if you read book 9 in this series, A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing. The main couple in this story are secondary players in that story.
Terry Spear once again returns readers to the world of her Heart of the Wolf series with a Christmas treat, A SEAL Wolf Christmas. Spear's attention to detail and her remarkable research into pack dynamics and behaviors has made this a must read series for fans of paranormal romance. Her latest offering has mystery and danger, as well as, a good dose of the Christmas spirit. Spear's talent for writing compelling characters, with unrealistic abilities is exceptional. This author writes about the impossible and makes you believe every word!
The Heart of the Wolf series was one of the very first paranormal stories I read, when I decided to give the genre a go. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, if I would find it over-the-top or just too far fetched. I am so very glad that I chose this series to start with, because I think it made all the difference. Had I started with a series that was not as well written or researched, I may have given up on it all together and I very happy I did not.
This series is written with such a great amount of authenticity. Terry Spear has done extensive research and it comes through on every page. Her shapeshifting werewolves act like real wolves, they are territorial and acquiesce to the alpha, they react like real wolves and they effect is mesmerizing. Readers who are looking for a werewolf series that has balance and sizzle, need look no further, the Heart of the Wolf series has it all. A SEAL Wolf Christmas may be the twelfth book in the series, but it doesn't look like Spear will be done telling her stories about this big extended wolf family any time soon!
The hero in A SEAL Wolf Christmas is Bjornolf Jorgenson, has all of the qualities that women look for a in a good hero. He is strong and courageous. His job as a Navy SEAL is one of the most difficult jobs imaginable. He is sexy and sweet and the kind of man any of us would love to read about. Spear does an excellent job of showing Bjornolf as a man, with wants and dreams like anyone else, but also as a soldier, who believes in loyalty and justice. He certainly ranks right up there with one of my favorites in the series, Leidolf Wildhaven. They are very different characters but still have underlying aura of command and safety about them.
Anna Johnson, the heroine was slightly harder for me to connect with. She is one tough customer. An undercover operative, dangerous, yet vulnerable. I liked the fact that Spear lets Anna explore that vulnerability with Bjornolf, without taking away from her rough exterior and attitude. After I got used to her manner and way she held herself in the book, I really started to like her. She stands up for what she believes and expects others to, as well. That's a very attractive quality. But let me tell ya, it takes a strong man! Bjornolf was certainly up to the task and the romance between them was both beautiful and hot.
The love scenes sizzle in this one to be sure. Spear may know a thing or two about writing about wolves, but she also knows how to create an atmosphere. Not only is Christmastime the setting for the story, but it also creates a lot of tender moments. It has a hand in the mystery, because of a connection to a Christmas tree farm and the times spent with friends and family with lots of Christmas cheer are heartfelt and fun to read. Christmas just permeates the book, which in my humble opinion, makes the story even better. I can certainly get into the idea of a few stolen moments by the light of the Christmas tree! Oh my!
Bottom Line: Don't miss this great addition to a fantastic series. Add some Christmas cheer to your own life with this wonderful Christmas novel!
I’m always surprised at how authors can keep coming up with fresh plot ideas and characters after numerous books in a series. This is Book 12 in Terry Spear’s werewolf series, and I’m still having as much fun with them as I did when I first began reading about them.
Bjornolf Jorgenson – yeah, say that ten times really fast! – is a lone wolf, a Navy SEAL who ghosts missions to make sure teams get in and out safe. He’s had a thing for Anna Johnson for some time, and when ghosting her current mission, Bjornolf breaks his own rule and lets her team know he’s there by helping out when he thinks Anna might be in jeopardy.
Rescuing a kidnapped family in the Amazon, Anna and her team have to be hyper vigilant when they begin to suspect everything is not as it seems in the jungle. They’re glad for Bjornolf’s assistance, and that leads to another mission where Anna and he will pose at newlyweds to investigate the murder of two wolves on a Christmas tree farm and also take care of the teen who discovered the crime.
It’s Bjornolf who wants more with Anna, so he jumps at the chance to work closely with her, despite her hesitancy. He needs to know what’s in her past that forces her to shut down, to shun the holiday season, especially after he opens up to her about his most traumatic moment of his younger days. When she refuses to let him in, he decides to take matters into his own hands, knowing it might hurt more than help.
However, as they grow closer living together during their mission, Anna begins to blossom with the festive feelings of Christmas and the loving attention of Bjornolf, as well as the timid and eager trust of a young teen who needs family so much. When she’s unexpectedly torn away from them by the hands of danger, Anna isn’t about to let this villain take everything away from her. Knowing Bjornolf will do everything in his power to find her, her training kicks in, only for them all to find out that more danger is still at their door.
While this book is not my favorite of Terry Spear’s wolf shifters, it’s still a fun and action-packed adventure for her fans. There’s a lot of coincidence in this story – not a problem for me since I go with the flow of letting my disbelief disappear when I read paranormals, but some folks may let it get in their way of enjoying the book. I hope not. There’s also a nice blending of Christmas, which is what I was looking for in my reads for December this year. A good portion of the books didn’t come through with that feel, but it is well done throughout this one. If you’re new to Ms. Spear’s books, you could start here, it reads fine as a stand-alone, but for the full effect of her characters and their shapeshifting world she’s created, I’d start at the beginning. You’ll be through twelve books in no time, believe me.
A SEAL WOLF CHRISTMAS is the twelfth instalment in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf shifter series. This is Bjornolf and Anna’s storyline and one that takes place in the few days and weeks leading up to the Christmas holidays.
Because it is the twelfth instalment there is plenty of reference to previous storylines including one where Bjornolf and Anna first meet, as well as the inclusion of a supporting cast from the earlier books. Although it can be read as a stand alone, there are many characters, premises and comments that may be lost to readers who have not read any of the previous novels.
The premise follows as Bjornolf and Anna are teamed together to locate and rescue a family held prisoner in the Amazon jungle. As the members of the team search and rescue, it becomes apparent that not everything about the kidnapping is on the level. Once the civilians have been secluded and safe, Bjornolf and Anna will be reassigned together for another mission that includes a young wolf shifter who has scented death on a Christmas tree farm back in the States.
As the story develops, so too does the intimate relationship between our leading couple. One thing I like about most of Terry’s shifter storylines is that there is very little friction or animosity between the couples as their inner beast knows when it has met its’ mate. The sex scenes are sensual and steamy and as with all mates, there is always the possibility of a pup(s) on the horizon.
The world building continues from several of the previous instalments -A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing #9: To Tempt the Wolf #3: with a little cameo from Leidolf Wildhaven and Cassi from Seduced by the Wolf #5. With the inclusion of several of the previous storyline characters, Terry brings a familiarity to her latest novel. The secondary characters all play a supporting role and are called upon on many occasions to keep the flow of the series smooth.
The premise finds Bjornolf and Anna as they must investigate the possible disappearance of a fellow SEAL shifter and the connection to the family rescued in the Amazon jungle. We also watch as a young shifter discovers that there are consequences to his actions when his inner wolf finds the mate of his heart.
If you like a storyline with action and mystery; shifters and their mates; and of course a happily ever after, Terry Spear write a series that is easy to read and with one you will fall in love especially if you like your romance novels with a peak at the next generation of shifters.

This is the twelfth book in The Heart of the Wolf series. Characters from some of the previous titles in the series are included in this story; however this does not prevent it from being read as a stand-alone. I have become quite addicted to Ms. Spear’s work and I was looking forward to read this title and was quite enthused when I had the opportunity to read and review it. Ms. Spear certainly did not disappoint.
My favorite character is Anna. She is an undercover operative, who had been given the task of investigating the murder of two navy seals on a Christmas tree farm. She is a tough as nails she wolf that had a past that she was not willing to have discovered. The secrets from her past were a constant thorn in her side. Because of these secrets she believed that she would not be able to have the benefits of a loving family nor be able to have a lasting relationship.
Bjornolf Jorgenson (what a mouthful) is a Navy Seal and a grey wolf. He chose to work alone and was not a member of any pack. His job was to work in the shadows. He would assist other teams without them knowing that he was there as he never leaves a trace. He was literally a phantom.
After the completion of a mission that saw Bjornolf breaching his own protocol, he and Anna were tasked with an assignment which entailed them working undercover as newlyweds. The assignment involved an investigation into the mysterious deaths of two navy seals (gray wolves) on a Christmas Tree farm. It was obvious that these two had a history and Bjornolf clearly had a thing for Anna. It was quite fun to see these two in action especially when they were in denial as to how they felt about each other.
A Seal Wolf Christmas is an easy, exciting read and I found it quite difficult to put it down . It’s filled with humour, action and suspense and it held my interest through to the very end. There were quite a few unexpected twists and it definitely kept me trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This book is a must read for fans of Terry Spear and fans of shifter romance.
Bjornolf is a Navy SEAL and has ghosted missions , currently doing that when he gets together with Anna. Anna is an Undercover Operative on this mission to help out with the children and wife that were in the party that was kidnapped while in the Amazon jungle. As they wrap up this mission Hunter the leader asks them if they want to do another mission on the Oregon coast with a teenage boy Bjornolf rescued before. Both agreed and then comes the investigation into 2 murders at a Christmas Tree Farm. The romance between Anna and Bjornolf, and the taking care of the teenage boy. This is a good, fast read. I always enjoy one of Terry Spear’s books and will read more.
I was super excited when I received A SEAL Wolf Christmas. I had been looking forward to this book for a while because her Heart of the Wolf series is among my favorite ones to read.
Navy SEAL Bjornolf Jorgenson was asked to covertly follow and help if needed a rescue mission. He doesn’t have a problem with this because he enjoys keeping his eye on Anna Johnson one of the team members. While on their way home he and Anna are asked to help out in another mission. To help an orphan teen wolf named Nathan and to discover who the dead wolves are that Nathan has seemed to come across on the Christmas Tree Farm he is working at. Only when the get there do they realize there may be even more going on than they expected…
Both Bjornolf and Anna are strong wolves, each with their own baggage. Anna has never celebrated Christmas before so Nathan and Bjornolf want to make sure she has a happy Holiday. I enjoyed the romance between Anna and Bjornolf and I also enjoyed watching their relationship with Nathan develop. This story has a lot of touching moments and many interesting twists and turns. The plot moves along at a smooth pace and before I knew it I had finished this book in just a day.
As a fan of Ms. Spear’s books, this novel has everything I have come to expect from her wonderful writing. A SEAL Wolf Christmas is book number 12 in the Heart of the Wolf series. While it does work as a standalone it is my opinion that you will enjoy it so much more if you read the rest of a series. These books are the perfect mix of Paranormal (shifters) Romance, the Military and the Christmas Holiday. I am already looking forward to the next book Silence of the Wolf due to be published February 2014.
Terry Spear writes these wonderful shifter stories! Part of what makes them fantastic is her attention to detail. Her research into wolf and pack life helps her write intecrite and unique stories. Seal Wolf Christmas is one of those stories. The latest in her ongoing werewolf series takes us back to the Oregon cost and the packs that live there.
Anna Johnson can take care of herself. As the only female on her elite werewolf SEAL team she takes pride in her ability to hold her own. She holds the respect and friendship of every person on the team. But like many other strong females what makes her a strong team mate also makes her intimidating to other men...
Bjornolf Jorgenson is a lone wolf. Not by nature but by design. He has spent a lifetime punishing himself for an accident beyond his control. But he is still a protector at heart. This makes him a unique member of the SEAL family. Instead on going on missions as part of the team he goes in as an invisible back up, shadowing teams on dangerous missions. On his latest mission he has been sent to shadow Hunter's team. Which allows him to do his favorite thing, watch Anna.
Bjornolf and Anna are a delightful couple. Sure they each have history and baggage yet it defines them not destroys them. When Hunter asks them to take on a mission close to home, acting as a married couple, fantasy soon becomes reality. It was an interesting switch up watching these two slide into a relationship.
There is a wonderful secondary story about teenage love, murder and mayhem. A great story only made better by Ms. Spear's attention to detail. Enjoy this series all..I sure do.

This review is based on the ARC of A Seal Wolf Christmas provided by netgalley and is scheduled to be released on September 24, 2013
A Seal Wolf Christmas is the 13th book in Terry Spear’s Werewolf series and is a great combination of a paranormal romance and a Christmas Story. Bjornolf Jorgenson has been a lone wolf for most of his life. He is not in a pack but he does have ties with one of the packs and acts as a shadow on their missions to help out as needed. Anna Johnson is a team member of the mission that Bjornolf is currently shadowing and is also a non-pack wolf. The mission involves rescuing a family in the Amazon and there is definitely something off about the whole kidnapping scenario but the wolves do their job and wrap everything up. Once the mission is finished, Bjornolf and Anna find themselves find themselves playing happy family with a teen wolf named Nathan who recently lost his parents and has been going off the rails periodically. Nathan has evidence of a murder on the tree farm where he works and the family bit is the cover for Bjornolf and Anna to investigate. Interestingly, the tree farm human tree farm owner has a daughter who scents of wolf and who Nathan is attracted to. This was an interesting book with the mix of murder mystery and Christmas feel good. Ms. Spears does a great job of intertwining two very disparate themes. I really enjoyed this book and all of the plot twists and turns. I also liked the fact that there was virtually no gore even though there was a lot of action in the story. Both Bjornolf and Anna are characters with troubled histories who need to find their nice in the pack and with each other. There are appearances by characters from earlier books that add to the whole feeling of pack and family. I am looking forward to the next book in early 2014.
Anna and Bjornolf are an interesting team and their love story is full of action, suspense, twists and laughs that accompany the drama around a teenage wolf and the dangerous secrets he has stumbled into. The mysterious deaths that Anna and Bjornolf investigate lead to a twist that you never see coming and uncover secrets that have been buried for a decade. Watching them work together to find out the truth and to handle the troubles that come with being members of a pack, show them and the reader the importance of being able to depend of others. The holiday spirit permeates that the story is infectious and makes me wish for my tree and all the hot chocolate I can drink. When Anna finally shares the horrific truth of her past, Bjornolf is able to prove just how great of a mate he can be and that a SEAL Wolf is the kind of male we should all hold out for. The side romance that we got to enjoy was a pleasant addition as well and reminds us that age has nothing to do with maturity or love. Drama, danger and desire lead Bjornolf and Anna on a merry chase as they come to terms with their holiday hang-ups and the love that can develop between a she-wolf and her SEAL. A perfect holiday tale and one that will be a repeat performance on my holiday reads list. Thanks for another great addition to my shelves, Terry. The Heat of the Wolf lives on in the love story between Anna and Bjornolf and I can’t wait for more. Rating: 4 stars For full review see my blog at: http://romancewitchreviews.blogspot.c...
I had quite a few problems with this book. First of all, it was not particularly easy to jump right into this series midway through, as the characters were not well-introduced to new readers. More seriously, the writing style was confusing and frustrating to me as a reader. The POV was third person limited, meaning that all the characters were referred to as "he" or "she" but you only got one character's perspective. That's fine, but the character whose perspective you got changed from paragraph to paragraph! That made it really confusing to follow (especially during the steamier scenes).
If you got past the writing, the plot was actually pretty decent. I wanted to know how it ended and I wanted them to solve the mysteries. It was a pretty typical mystery, but I enjoyed it.
My biggest problem was with the characters. Bjornolf was a typical alpha male who over-sexualized Anna, an awesome she-wolf (as they called her throughout the novel). Anna could clearly take care of herself and was a trained warrior, but EVERYONE in the novel (all of whom were men, basically) tried to coddle and protect her. I found it sexist and demeaning, and I really disliked that she put up with it. Additionally, both she and Bjornolf dramatically changed from being guarded, distant assassin types to being gooey, in-love partners in the course of a couple of chapters, which seemed like MUCH too rapid for realistic character development.
All in all, I read this book for the plot and with a desperate hope that Anna would stand up to the misogynistic men in her life (she didn't).
