Jessie spends a hot night with two sexy-as-sin detectives, only to be accused of murder the very next day. But when Jessie becomes the target of a serial killer, her two detectives will risk everything to have her back in their arms—and in their bed…
Maya Banks is the #1 New York Times, #1 USA Today and international bestselling author of over 50 novels. A wife and mother of three, she lives in Texas.
I enjoy very much with the Maya's Books. This was exciting, although the plot of the serial murderer could be worked a little more and at the end was a bit predictable, but I quite enjoyed it.
I loved this book. It was so much better than I was expecting. I loved Jessie and Rick and Truitt. I loved all the angst too, I think that was my favorite part. I'm not sure I would have forgiven Rick and Truitt that easily though, Jessie is just such a nice person I guess. I wish there was more to the book, like a sequel, wanted to know more about Jessie and the boys.
what a ride. from a night where she lost her job, to having a hot 3-some, to being number one suspect for a murder, to being taken by a serial killer. how much drama can you stand? the love love of her men is heartwarming and endearing. love Maya Banks!!!!!
An intriguing premise but lacking as it doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. The Romance story wasn't fleshed out and the characters barely knew anything about each other before proffessing love which is rather unusual given two days before the men were ready to believe Jessie had been just using them as an aliby to kill her boss. The Suspence side of the story had interesting plot points that weren't fleshed out or further explained, like two cops know a killer is calling them but make no effort to trace the call, they know where the bodies are going to be but don't try and set up a trap to catch the killer. The story in the paper never gets looked into. Then the killers motivation is left entirly unexplained, and as a character given her close proxitmity to Rick and Truitt is slmost never mentioned at all untill we know she's the killer. All in all, interesting but felt rushed, with very little chemistry or heat between the characters.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable read! There is a delightful mix of a murder mystery and a sexy threesome relationship between two sexy cops and their woman. In spite of the serial killer mystery, it was very lighthearted and easy to read. The author has written a good story!
3 ~ it’s OK. I realized a chapter in that I’d already read this at some point. Maybe before I started logging everything in Goodreads. It’s a novella so not a whole lot of meat to the story, but somewhat decent. Rick & Truett are cops and partners (but not *partners*) who have been asking Jessie for a manage (MFM) for a month. She finally agrees. They do and it’s insta-love, big misunderstanding, makeup, move in together, kidnapping, escape, & HEA.
Probably my biggest issue is how much the story talks about Jessie’s knee injury and how much it’s currently bothering her and then she’s doing things that would be painful/stressful. She’s waitressing and the knee hurts so bad she collapses & has to be practically carried from work ~ but a few hours later she’s having sex and it’s explicitly described how she’s kneeling. Three days later she’s again in so much pain that her knee “gives out” and she falls and “it can’t hold her weight” but that night she goes out dancing at a club. I don’t even understand why the knee injury is a thing.
It’s a quick read. Not amazing, but not horrid either.
3.5*, rounded up for GR Jessie is a waitress at the bar that Rick and Truitt go to. Rick and Truitt have both flirted with Jessie and do so each time they see her. Both want to take her home with them, so they proposition her together, and each time she declines. Then one night, she gets falsely accused of stealing and fired. On this night, she accepts their offer. Then, the morning after, she is accused of murder and then soon after kidnapped by a serial killer terrorizing the city. Whew! There is so much packed in this novella! I did enjoy the ride, lots of hot sex. Good, likable characters. Jessie didn't need saving and I appreciated that. I do think Jessie let Rick and Truitt off a little too easily. I think more groveling was necessary after what they did (or in this case didn't do).
Signed up for the smut but stayed for the plot. The writing in the beginning felt a bit awkward or dated so I liked the crime parts more than the romance tbh. The killer and motives were interesting and I liked that there was no angst in the police force about their menage. That can get tiring as a constant plot point. I thought the cover was some unappetising bread lol. It's probably my fasting making me think of food. I guess it's some bullet-ridden surface. They should have made it chrome, not brown.
3.75 - definitely hot in the love scenes And loved the cat-n-mouse chase at the end. well written and you feel the fear and the rejoicing with how it all plays out. however, even though a novella, the love they feel for each other feels very forced and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out if the friend was a friend or going to be a backstabber, so the friendship felt fake.
Rick and Truitt were the sweetest and Jessie was a fighter. They needed a woman who could be her own and she needed men that would always have her back. Wish I could've gotten more of their happily ever after!
2 police detectives, partners as well as friends, and a waitress at a bar. Flirting, teasing, and then much more. In the meantime, a serial killer is operating in the city and taunting the police and terrorizing the women of the city. Many twists and turns and the finish will surprise you.
I love Maya's stories. Well written and enjoyable to read. This one had me crying in places. If you enjoy reading menage and murder then this is a terrific one.
Hot threesome, who wouldn't want to be in between these two luscious cops? Protective, loving cops, a serial killer who targets their woman and their woman takes the killer down.

A classic Maya Banks menage. That first smex scene had me fanning meself...and it wasnt even explicit like current smex scenes are.. That's how you build tension folks, it is possible to make it hot without going for shock factor ,all-kinks-and-the-kitchen-sink...
This was my second time reading it and I still loved it. Truitt and Rick are police officer’s that realize they’ve both fallen for Jessie. Can they get her to give them a chance? There’s also suspense as they are looking for a serial killer. Was really shocked at who the killer was. Loved how her guys step up and claim her, they get a very happy ever after.
Outside of the sex scenes (which were HOT AS HELL), the book was a bit to corny and predictable as well as unbelievable. It is what it is though. *shrugs*
