Eternal Island

Rate this book
A place where vampires rule, witches play, danger lurks and dreams really do come true.

Eternal Island is a paranormal suspense novel, deeply rooted into myth. Vampires and magic form a unique backdrop to a love story with long reaching consequences. Human girl Ariana Lochalan finds herself transported from the relative calm of her ‘Nowhere, Arkansas’ life into a diametrically opposite existence when she discovers she is a powerful witch and meant to wed High Vampire of Eternal Island, Abe Cambridge. Despite first-sight magnetism, the two protagonists are being pushed apart, obstacles tripping them at every step, outside forces interfering and threatening their peace, and ultimately their lives.

A world rich in magic and intrigue, Eternal Island is the first installment of a saga which has love at its core and delves through the mire that is human nature in a turmoil of feeling and emotion. Would courage, resilience and love be enough to bring together two soul mates?

How much would you sacrifice to save the one who owns your heart?.

I don't understand, I honestly don't. I feel so cheated and mislead because from the TONS and TONS of four and five star reviews and recommendations on Facebook I was lead to believe that this would be a really great book. Yes, it had a really cool overall idea but the plot, characters, and writing was horrible. I felt like some middle school or high school student wrote this. I tried, I really did to finish it out and pray that it got better, but at the 50% mark I just couldn't stomach it anymore.

The characters were completely one dimensional and had no depth or character development what so ever. They were adults and yet their dialogue and actions came off as immature and just ridiculous.

The instant love was nauseating and not believable. Here we have this big bad vampire and all the sudden he see's a picture of this girl and he turns into the biggest pansy I've ever read about. I guess that's exactly what this book is.... unbelievable (and not in a good way). I know this is fiction and paranormal at that, but there has to be some believability to the characters actions.

I'm not even goanna get started on Ariana... I could've swore she was a 13 year old girl... I'm not exaggerating... that's exactly how she acts. And she took everything too easy and without any fight...

"Oh, vampires and witches are real? How cool! Even though I don't know you and I literally just woke up from a coma 60 seconds ago and my husband just died, I'll go with you to this invisible island and be a maid! Who cares that this is completely insane and not believable! Let's hurry up and get there so I can see if I'm a witch too and so I can have instant love with the vampire King who is "supposed" to be a bad ass but acts like a whiny 13 year old just like me!"

Yes, I rolled my eyes more times than I can count and the immature dialogue made me cringe. And it just wasn't with Ariana and Abe.
It was with EVERY.FREAKING.CHARACTER.

The plot really made no sense and was completely predictable, though I didn't finish this book, I can tell you exactly what happens, that's how predictable this book was. And was so completely under developed (just like the characters) that I just could not stomach the rest of this book.

I tried, I really did and I hate giving bad reviews because I hate coming off as mean, but I'm just being honest. I gave this book a chance and I was just extremely let down. I think the author needs more practice and maybe one day come back to this and do some work to it. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

This is a different kind of Vampire novel that I could really sink my teeth into - Eternal Island, Book I.

I won this book back in January during a Giveaway on the fuonlyknew blog. I would like to thank Laura Thomas, Ella Medler and K. S. Haigwood for offering the book. I had seen the book around, how could I miss it with the awesome cover. I just knew there was paranormal activity going on between the "pages" and could hardly wait to get my hands on it. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.

Rainey, a psychic and right hand to Abe, told him there was more bad news. To him it seemed that was all he ever got from her. Rainey told him he would meet his soul mate and she would be human. He was the the vampire king, so it was impossible for him to hook up with a human.

She pulled out the crystal ball and he laughed. It was so cliche. She warned him, don't look into the ball unless you are prepared to fall in love. Him? Was she crazy? But when he looked into it.............

It was instant love. Ariana. He knew he could not live without her. Rainey would go get her and she would leave now.

Rainey woke Ariana and explained to her about Eternal Island. She used her powers to keep her calm as she talked to her. She thought it best not to tell her about Abe. Ariana agreed to come. What did she have to lose?

Ariana had been in a coma for eight weeks. She had no memory of how she came to be there or who she was. She had a vision about her and Abe. Not so good, considering he was a vampire.

Once on the plane with Rainey, she began to think she might have made a mistake, trusting a witch.

When Rainey made the island appear in the empty ocean, Ariana asked ,

"This witchy stuff. Is it something you learn, or something you're born with? Can you teach me?"

They landed and Ariana saw the car, a Lotus. Rainey said she may give it to her, she was ready for a new car and asked if she wanted to drive it. Ariana could hardly contain her excitement.

"Are you freaking serious? Hell yeah, I wanna drive."

As they drive off, I can't help but wonder what will become of Ariana. She has no memory, going to a place with witches, vampires, and who knows what else. Will she reciprocate Abe's love and live happily ever after? Will a malevolent evil make her life a living hell?

5 STARS - Would Buy It For Them (lol)

I saw the cover, and thought this would be a great book. I was right.

It was well written and I loved the "tone" of the writing. I loved the humorous, sarcastic dialogue. Did some of Ella's and K. S.'s personality leak onto the "pages"?

Most vampire books can be pretty heavy, know what I mean? But this was light-hearted and fun to read. More than once I caught myself smiling or laughing. An original concept and a departure from the norm. I always like that.

I love fast cars, so it always catches my attention when a hot one is mentioned. When you read the book, you will see why they loved driving.

Abe - vampire, like a baby learning to deal with feelings and emotions, confusing him. High vampire. "finer than frog hair"

Ariana- persuasive, smart, intuitive, beautiful, strongest witch, powerful healer. Do what she wants. Dream walker, "super witch" .

Rainey - witch, visions, Abe's right hand. Professor. Teaches magic, potion making.

"she finally met a hot guy and he's only in dreams, that figures. "

Rainery - "I've always wanted to read other peoples minds. but after hearing your thoughts I dont think I want to any more."

The depth of Abe's love was amazing. To hear a Vampire describe his feelings like that was a nice twist for the genre.

"How the hell could he have a broken heart when his his heart hadn't beaten in hundreds of years?"

Abe - "I love you Ariana. Fall and Ill catch you"

I thought it was great that Ariana's human friends were included. Bringing the normal, outside world into the fantasy world, made the story seem more realistic. The characters captured me, as if they were real people. They sure did act like it.

I think we all have a vague idea about the way this will end, but the journey getting there is well worth the time. No waiting for Book II. It is scheduled for release on May 10, 2013.

I am at a stage where I am kinda fed up with vampires. Good ones at least. I miss the old type, the blood sucking monster types.
I also had my fill of witches that is the most powerfull of all witches.
Love triangles have gone trite.

So when I started this book and our main protagonist found herself in a coma, I sighed in relief.
Here was a story that was off the beaten path.

Alas, she is taken to Eternal island to meet and mate with the King of Vampires.

But hang on....
This island is unlike anything I have read before.
Here you find witches and vampires, ruled by a vampire. Humans are allowed but if they leave they have all knowledge of the isle wiped.

Ok, so this is new.

The plot line in the book is paced almost perfectly, the reader gets enough time to catch their breath a moment before they are lead into a new adventure.
The love affair is not a triangle as much as it is a head over heels I love you forever and ever.

This book, with so many elements in it that I am growing tired off turned out to be a blast to read.

If you like witches and vamps, a love story of epic proportions and an evil that is really evil -- then you must get a copy.
I cant believe how much of a fun read this turned out to be.

This is going to be an AMAZING series! I fell in love with the character almost immediately. This is definitely a book you want to start when you know you won't be interupted because once you start, you will not want to stop!

Ariana Lochalan just lost her husband Michael in a freak accident while he was at work. When family and friends break the news to her, she goes into a state of shock, collapses, and does not wake up. She's not dead. She's in a coma. She's admitted to a psychiatric hospital so she can be monitored, but there really isn't anything they can do for her until she wakes up.

Abe Cambridge is a 900 year old vampire, the High Vampire of Eternal Island, and convinced that love does not exist, especially for him. His undead life is full of meaningless one night stands, that is until Rainey, his personal psychic tells him that he will fall in love. Of course Abe thinks that Rainey is just pulling his metaphorical chain because, aferall, love doesn't exist. To further prove her point, she shows him an image of a woman that he will love and will spend eternity with through her crystal ball. The moment Abe see's Ariana in the glass ball, he immediately falls in love. He demands that Rainey go and get her and bring her to him immediately. Being a powerful witch with a skill in compulsion, Rainey goes to the psychiatric hospital and awakens Ariana, convinces her to come with, and flies her back on Abe's private jet to Eternal Island.

Eternal Island (I totally want to live there) is an island that I think (based on geographical references) is off the coast of California and has been enchanted so that it is hidden to everyone unless you know the spell to make it appear for you. Although the island is populated primarily with vampires and witches, there are regualar humans that inhabit the island as well. This island is amazing! It is approximately 85 miles wide and the main highway is a straightaway from one end of the island to another. Quite a few of the inhabitants of the island have had a good time driving the length at full speed by the way. Everyone on the island has a job, not because they have expenses but more to keep the island running normally (or as normal as it can being populated with vampires and witches). The island has running water and electricity, it has cell phones (with free service), a shopping mall, restaurants, night clubs. Basically everything you can think of exists on the island. The money everyone makes at their various jobs is basically to pay for food, clothes, entertainment, and things of the like.

Now, back to Ariana and Abe. Ariana has no idea why she's been chosen to live on the island. She's still grieving for the loss of her husband, so personally, I think she believes this is all a dream until she actually gets to the island. No one is held on the island against their will, so Rainey does make it clear to her that if she ever wanted to leave the island, Rainey would wipe her memory, allow her to leave and go back to her life in Arkansas. On the trip back to the island, Rainey has another vision; one of Julia (the first person Abe turned 400 yrs ago, occassionally sleeps with, and who lets everyone believe sh is the High Vampess on the island) and Max (Abe's second in command). In this vision, Rainey see's that Julia and Max are plotting something to take Abe down. Upon arrival back on Eternal Island, Rainey shows Ariana to her living quarters, introducs her to Becky, Araian's new roommate, and excuses herself to "take care of business".

Abe is impatiently waiting for Rainey in her room when she gets back and after much convincing, tells Abe in no uncertain terms that he is not to tell Araiana how he feels about her or why she was brought to the island until Rainey can figure out what Julia and Max are up to. Meanwhile, Becky shows Ariana around and gives her the lay of the land, so to speak. Ariana is so fascinated with the island and the people and she wishes she weren't so ordinary. Rainey tells her that there is a spell that she can do to see if she has any witch blood in her. Of course Rainey tells her this just so she won't feel so out of place, never really thinking the spell will actually work, but it does. It reveals that Ariana is a pure natural witch, something Rainey has never even encountered before. Almost immediately, something is awoken within Ariana and her abilities start coming to life one right after the other. The first to emerge is the ability to read minds, then to heal. Her abilities are absolutely amazing. Now that Ariana can read minds, its going to be very hard to keep Abe's feelings a secret.

When Abe and Ariana meet for the first time, things are a little rocky. It gets to the point where Abe must tell Ariana the truth of why she's really been brought to the island. Ariana isn't sure she feels the same. She did just lose her husband afterall. I think she must feel that in a way, she's cheating on Michael (her husband), even though he is dead.

Can Ariana let Michael go and open her heart to new love? What are Julia and Max really planning? You need to go get this book to find out! You will love this story!

This arrogant, been there – done that, vampire thinks he’s seen it all and done it all. That is until he gazes into Rainey’s crystal ball.

She warned him, this is your one and only chance at love, at finding your soul-mate. Make sure you want this before you gaze upon her. There’ll be no going back. Your heart won’t allow it.

Abe doesn’t take her seriously. Rainey is his personal psychic witch. She’s been forecasting his future for a long time and never once has it been about anything good. So why should this be any different.

Then he gazes upon Ariana’s face. If his heart was still beating, it would explode from his chest. He’s stunned by the rush of feelings he’s having. He has to have her, can’t stand a second more without her. Now he understands Rainey’s warning. She’s right, there’s no going back.

Per Abe’s demand, Rainey goes to get Ariana and bring her back to the island.

Ariana has been in a coma for many weeks. Not able to cope with the news of her husband’s death, she fainted and never woke up.

She’s been moved to a mental hospital as she shows no signs of waking. Rainey arrives and uses her witchy powers to get past the staff and enters Ariana’s room. She sprinkles some powder on her face and waits.

Ariana awakens, at first confused. Where is she, why is she here and who is this stranger?

As Rainey pitches her mysterious promise of a new life, a new beginning on a magical island, Ariana is persuaded to go. Perhaps because of her painful memories, she accepts that the island is real.

I can tell you this, I had so much fun reading Eternal Island. The cast of characters couldn’t be better and I laughed, hard!

Abe is the High Vampire, the big kahuna of the island. A long time ago a vampire discovered the island and invited others to come there to escape the slayers. When witches were being burned, drowned, and hanged, the vampire invited them to the island also. It was mutually beneficial. The witches watched out for the vamps during the day and the vamps protected the witches by night. And the witches cast a spell to keep the island hidden.

This is a great premise. A secret island, witches and vamps working together!

Abe is a stickler for rules and suffers no nonsense. It’s hard for him to be so unsure of himself now that he’s found love. Upon knowing he’s about to come face to face with Ariana – “I love her and I’ve never even heard her voice. Do you know how that makes me feel? Vulnerable! I feel weak.”

I like when a vampire and a human fall in love. All through the story I’m wondering, will he want to change her, will she want to be changed? Keeps the mystery flowing.

Rainey is a psychic witch and has to make sure Abe doesn’t rush things and scare Ariana off. She needn’t have worried. Once Ariana gazes into Abe’s eyes, she’s enamored.

Her roommate Becky catches on quickly and thinks Ariana does protest too much.

“It’s not what you think, Becky. Honestly.” Becky made a face and stared back unblinking. “Okay, there’s no point in arguing with you anyway, is there?”

“Nope, I always win.”

A fact I liked: He enjoyed drinking alcohol for the simple reason that it was something different. A human doesn’t like to only eat pizza or cheeseburgers all the time and the same applied to Abe’s kind. Blood, although necessary to stay alive, got old, boring, after a while. His favorite drink was Jack Daniels, or an AB Negative girl.

Yikes! I’m AB Negative!

This part written about Abe made me crack up: Abe had been lying in bed for hours trying to count those damn sheep. Three hours later he decided to start shooting the sheep.

The book is full of fun, laugh out loud, moments. But there is also some yummy romance and a slew of characters, good and evil.

One vamp wants another one dead. The other vamp wants said vamp dead. Who will get who first?

Will Abe and Ariana finally be together?

Will Rainey see the mysterious Kade again?

Will Jonah stay out of trouble? Not likely!

There’s hi-jinx, romance and intrigue in Eternal Island. With so much going on, there’s never a dull moment.

If I was invited, I wouldn’t hesitate to visit! Five Stars for Eternal Island! I want more.

Vampires, humans and witches, oh my!
Okay, this book...was amazing! I am a lover of anything paranormal, so when I read this book I was shocked and surprised to see that not only were there vampires in this book, there was also witches too! Eternal Island, here I come!!

This book starts off with us reading about a group of friends that go to a hospital to see their friend, Ariana, who was in a hospital. Turns out she left and no one has any idea where she went. She was in a coma after-all. Flash three days before this event and we find out that a powerful witch, named Rainey, has took her to an island invisible to the human eye. Ariana finds herself meeting a need friend named Becky and together they go on to figure out what Ariana was and what her purpose on the island was. While she was pondering her purpose on the island, a handsome vampire, watched her from afar and waited for the perfect moment to explain to her about her new life, and how he played in that picture. This vampire name was Abe Cambridge, high Vampire on Eternal Island which also translates to King of the island. Abe character is, amazing!! He is kind and sweet but at the same time, brave and daring. But forces are lurking around the island, forces that don't want Abe and Ariana to be together and would do anything to see Abe fall. Ariana will have to figure out her purpose on Eternal Island to save not only her life, but the people she has come to love.

Such an interesting book! I've never read a book about paranormal creatures living on a island, that was a nice twist, and I couldn't put the book down. I loved Ariana's character. I love reading a book with a strong, mature, kick-butt character! Seriously, I was rooting for Ariana from the beginning. She made me laugh more then...well actually; I lost count how many times she made me laugh! I finished this book in less than a day and can honestly say that I felt like I was transported to Eternal Island. Too bad when I finished the book I was forced back to reality:) This book made me cry, laugh, and grin all the time. There came one point in reading this book when I laughed at this one line that I had to step away from the computer to tell my sister about it. I can't wait to read part two, and I would recommend this book to everybody!

Some of my favorite quotes:
(This is the one that made me laugh the most. Oh Abe lol)

"Abe had been lying in bed for hours trying to count those damn sheep. Three hours later he decided to start shooting the sheep. After four hundred twenty-seven thousand one hundred and thirty-two dead sheep, he had lost count how many times he had tossed and turned. He gave it up, got out of bed and went to the shower."

"love like ours isn’t found in the stars, it isn’t found in a movie, it’s found right here.” She put her hand over her heart."

Okay that is it, I decided I want to live on this island. I mean seriously they get to live on a tropical island that no one can find and shop, live, love and eat like royalty. They do not really pay for anything so the money they earn is fun money. I would totally live out my last days there.

I loved this book not only because it fell right into the middle of the genre I love to read but because I felt like I could step right into the page and stand facing every dilemma the well rounded characters were up against. The only character that left me going “huh?” was the second in command Max. I think he was spelled into being the way he was at the end but I cannot be sure because we did not find much out about him other than he was married to someone he did not love and having an affair with the villainess who did not love him and that he was second to the High Vampire or Vampire King.

Our leading lady started out as a normal human that was in a catatonic state of some sort and is awoken and whisked away to a different destiny. The story moves the main characters through one twist after another and the love story thickens along with the espionage. I loved every aspect of this book and I even read the sneak peek at the end for the next book. Now I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I rated this 5 out of 5!

Aw... I actually cried during one of the scenes at the end.

Okay. That's a sign of a good writer. LOL

I'm going to give this 4 1/2 stars.

First, let me say, thank you, K.S. and Ella for letting me read this awesome story for an honest review. I enjoyed it, particularly the second half.

Without having read any description or synopsis, it took me a while to get into the lightheartedness of it all because I expected a "dark" story about vampires and witches. My bad. I found it to be a delightfully lighthearted story about vampires and witches. Once I realized that, I really started enjoying it. It is sort of like a spoof on vampire novels. At first, I kept waiting for it to get serious, but then when it never did, I began to relax and go with the flow. It was a fun read. I laughed and chuckled in parts.

There were times that Arianna, Rainey and especially Becky sounded much like teenagers the way they talked. But like I said above, once I realized the lightheartedness of the story that all became much more acceptable.

Over all, by the second half of the book I was totally involved and needed to find out what happened. You made me laugh and you made me cry. What more could anyone want?

Ariana falls into a coma following a horrific trauma, only to be awakened with some surprise by a strange, mystic woman with an unimaginable reason for kidnapping Ariana from the hospital. This woman steals Ariana away to a secret island, promising a wonderful destiny, which includes a relationship with the King of Eternal Island, Abe. Ariana has her doubts until she sees Abe. The connection is intense, though she tries to deny it...temporarily.

Ariana makes a friend, finds love with a supernatural who adores her and gains a mentor who teaches her about her own powerful supernatural abilities. Ariana realizes she fits right in with the witches and vampires and relates to the humans inhabiting the Island.

Haigwood and Medler are a brilliant team who create a tale that you cannot, will not, put down until the very last word! This story rates more than 5 stars. Read and re-read to make sure you get every detail!

*I was given this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

The story begins with Arianna, a woman who’s in a coma after suffering the loss of her husband. Rainey, a consultant witch, to Abe, the King of Eternal Island, informs the king that his true love is alive and on the mainland. Rainey brings Arianna to Eternal Island where Arianna and Abe embark on an adventure. In the process, Arianna discovers her newfound powers and learns to love again.

What I love about this book is the creative imagination of the authors and the fresh take on vampires and witches. I also love the secondary characters which brought depth and intrigue into the story as well. Rainey is a great character and I am looking forward to her story.

If you love paranormal romance and are looking for a new twist on hot vamps and witches, this book is a must read!

O.k., so I have actually never left a bad review before. I always felt mean. But I have to say that I have no idea where the hype is coming from on this book. I think that the concept of the story has enormous promise, so I was disappointed In it's execution. Perhaps the author is just honing her skill, perhaps the story was too large and therefore was rushed, I'm not sure. I saw this as a recommendation from an author that I follow. After reading it I thought I need to stop paying attention to their recommendations. The characters are flat and one dimensional, and that I cannot abide in a story. Although the over all concept was good, some of it was beyond foolish. All in all it felt hollow, with no real character development to create investment in the love story.

This book starts with Ariana missing from the mental hospital where she's been in a coma since her husband's death. She has been spirited away by Rainey who is a physic/witch. They go to Eternal Island where she meets Abe, who is High Vampire and King of Eternal Island. You have got to read this book. It has romance, new friendships, excitement and evil people in it. Where else can you find everything that you want and expect all in one book. I highly recommend it!

I absolutely loved this book! The premise of an island ruled by a vampire where witches, vamps and humans live and cohabitate... amazing! I loved everything about this book!

The only thing i disliked was occasionally it was hard to tell when the story moved places or to a new scene. Really nothing in the scope of things!

I cant wait to find out what happens to everyone.

I really love the premise and setting of this book. It had a lot of promise, but honestly I had a hard time getting through this book. I really had a hard time connecting with the characters. Abe, the king of the island, just came off to me as a sniveling wimp. I get that this is his first time in hundreds of years to fall in love, but his controlling, have to talk to Ariana every 30 minutes because he was worried really got on my nerves. Ariana, just finding out she is a powerful witch and learns all these new powers on the first try was also one dimensional. There were some good parts in the book, such as the fight scene with Julia, but it's kind of unrealistic for all that happened from Abe falling in love to the wedding in one short week. The next story looks very promising as well as a few other spin offs I could see happening from this book.

Well I'm certainly kicking myself for not reading this book sooner. I've had it on my Kindle app forever. Lesson taught.

This book had it all, love, action, passion, intrigue, surprises and so on. The author expertly kept my attention, making me curse when I had to sleep. A definite page-turner.

I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the next book.

Eternal Island, book one in the Eternal Series is, in all honesty, a good book. Sometimes, though, I really wish I could review on either a ten star rating system or that I could give half stars to a book rating. My real rating for this book would be 3 ½ stars, but I would rather give an extra ½ star to a rating than take a book down to a level it does not deserve.

I’m not an editor, but I do read an insane amount of books per year. I find that the books I like have a few qualities in common: description is not overdone, I want to see more of the secondary characters, and when I am finished reading, I would like to see what happens next. Eternal Island shares two of these qualities. Unfortunately, in my opinion, about a third of the book could be left behind as being unnecessarily wordy.

However, even with my lack of enthusiasm on the verbiage in the book, I want to see what happens next.

After having a vision of the future, Rainey brings Ariana to the attention of the King of Eternal Island, Abe. Upon seeing her in a crystal ball, Abe decides to send Rainey to heal Ariana and bring her to the island. Ariana has recently lost her husband and upon learning of his death, fainted and fell into a coma. She is healed by Rainey and taken to the island, home to a large population of vampires and witches. There she meets Abe…

The authors have a fabulous plot. Vampires, witches, and humans living together on a hidden island, is a very intriguing concept. Some of the dialogue really stuck with me, such as the following remark from Rainey:

“ Chill out, they aren’t monsters, and they are not going to eat you. They look just like you and me. Sheesh, Hollywood has a lot to answer for, scaring people like that…”

There are some places I would like to see explored more and characters that I would like to see fleshed out and starring in their own stories.

I just think that the book really could use some tightening up. I have another book in my to be read file by K. S. Haigwood and I am extremely curious to see how it reads both by itself and in comparison to Eternal Island. I also look forward to reading the second in the Eternal Series in the future.

By the time I reached page 20, I knew I wanted the rest of the series as soon as the books can be published and made available for Nook.

The book starts with our female protagonist (Ariana) in a coma since being told her husband of less than a year has died in an accident. There's just one problem; she's missing and no one knows how she left or who took her.

Go back three days to a meeting between the male protagonist, the High Vampire (Abe) and his witch/psychic adviser(Rainey). He rules Eternal Island. She has visions (warning of trouble) and he has come to dread her requests to see him. This time is different. He has a chance at true love, but only if he's willing to make a choice immediately. If not, he will spend the rest of his existence never knowing love and everything that goes with it. Choose. Now.

In a sarcastic moment of disbelief, he says yes. As soon as Rainey shows him an image of the comatose Ariana he falls. Hard. It's Rainey's job to go to the hospital, wake Ariana and convince her to fly back to Eternal Island with her.

At the beginning of the book, the author tells us, "Eternal Island - A place where vampires rule, witches play, danger lurks and dreams really do come true." Fair warning that even when two hearts are helplessly drawn to one another, it will still be a bumpy ride. Take one 900+ year old arrogant, world weary vampire. Mix in a mind-reading, witch who is also a power hungry vampess. Throw in the ghost of a dead husband. Now add unexpected, newly awakened, seemingly limitless witch powers for Ariana. Stir well and you have a recipe for humor, angst, tension, deceit, and a love that can last forever. If every one survives the treachery. And who gives the bride away had my romantic side crying.

A paranormal love story on a island where vampires and witches sought refuge from persecution, made invisible to normal human perception. Good for adults who like a "clean" read and young adults.

I've read two books now that are the first book in different series by this author. I'm hooked.

Fun, imaginitve and fast-paced fantasy adventure:

Eternal Island is a place of many magic persuasions and many mysteries. Invisible to anyone not invited, it homes vampires, witches, seers, mind-readers… pretty much any kind of paranormal entity you can imagine. It’s also a place of luxury, without hunger, deprivation, poverty – but a place ruled with the iron fist of Abe, the High Vampire, who dictates a firm-but-fair philosophy.

Abe is foretold of his true love by psychic, Rainey. His true love is Ariana, overwhelmingly desirable to him, but currently in a coma after a breakdown. Her husband died in a tragic accident and the shock caused her a total collapse. But rescued from her hospital bed by Rainey and her witch skills, she agrees to go to the island to meet her ‘supposed’ soul-mate. And once there, she soon discovers that she is a highly powerful witch with, seemingly, unlimited capabilities.

On her journey of self-discovery, during which her powers gradually manifest in the most unexpected and untimely ways, Ariana is pursued relentlessly by the love-stricken High Vampire. But Abe will have to learn some patience – not something he is used to – because Ariana, despite her irresistible attraction to Abe – is in no rush to jump into a relationship with anybody so soon after losing her husband – especially a vampire!

The story illustrates fascinating aspects of all things magical, all things devious – as we are introduced to the scheming Julia who is determined to seize control of the island – and all things romantic. With a tasteful input of sexual content, emotional roller-coasting, sneaky plans of betrayal and ominous warnings of tragedy, this story will hook you in and draw you effortlessly through the pages. There are some wonderfully drawn secondary characters, and a precise eye by the author for bringing so many characters and events to a neat and exciting conclusion. Recommended.

'I recieved this book from the author in return of an honest review.'
I'm going to be completely honest in telling you that I didn't like this book at all....I LOVED IT. From the very beginning the book had me hooked with our leading man, Abe and his closest advisor and friend, Rainey, with the choice of love or no love. Which do you think was chosen? Love of course! And the adventure began there. From that point there were kidnappings, secrets, confessions, magic and oh so much undeniable love....not to mention returning ghosts of past loves. Are your interests peeked yet?

I've got to tell you that as soon as I began this journey into the Eternal Island I felt as though I had been whisked away with the story myself. The characters are beautifully detailed with there feelings and emotions...I only wish that the description of their features had been a little more detailed. Other than that, everything was perfect. The book quickly became one of my Top 10 favorites and I found myself staying up late just so I could read another chapter. It is a beautiful story of action, adventure, magic, friendship and yes, love. If you are interested in that type of story then you will love this book as I do. In conclusion, I must say that I am sitting on the edge of my seat awaiting to read the next book in the series, 'Eternal Immortality'. Well done to both authors of this book...you've done a fine job and I look forward to reading more from you.

First, let me say I love the story and the idea behind it. So original and well thought out. If I were to ignore the random color/colour occurrences and head-hopping without any indication of character change, I would give Eternal Island five hearts, hands down.

Human Ariana is grieving her recently deceased husband and Abe, the King of Eternal Island and an ancient vampire, has fallen in love with her, sight unseen. Rainey, a spunky witch, and Becky, Ariana's roommate (also a witch) make Ariana's welcome to Eternal Island a warm and welcome one. Ariana has no idea why she was brought here but getting away from a world of hurt and pain is better than wallowing away in the psychiatric ward.

I can't imagine losing my husband, so I can only imagine how Ariana felt with Abe pursuing her while she grieved for love lost. But when she let go of the past and saw what lay ahead, Ariana became this kick-arse heroine I hoped she would become. A new home, the King desperately in love with her, and some pretty awesome powers to boot, Ariana is one lucky lady! Abe is smokin' hot and one hundred percent devoted, now that he's finally found love.

I do wish that Ariana showed a little resistance during a late revelation, but that's just me.

Eternal Island is an action-packed, filled with magic, and takes you to a place unlike any other. Take a trip to Eternal Island and see what the buzz is about.

Eternal Island by: K.S. Haigwood and Ella Medler 4 paranormal stars

This book was a gem of a book. It is not what you would expect, it is a nice love story but very, very suspenseful. You never know who is going to come and try to interfere with Ariana and Abe. There are twist and turns and just so much. I am not really sure where to start this review. Eternal Island is an island where vampires, witches, spits, and humans live in pace and co exist together. They are ruled by a high Vampire Abe; to me he is a fair and reasonable vampire that doesn’t take shit. H is over 900 years old and has never, ever been in love. To Abe relationships are annoying and a nuisance. So when his local witch who happens to see the future says he has one chance at love and it is love at first sight of course he doesn’t believe it. So he just says fuck it and secedes to take a chance and when he sees Ariana he gets all these emotions he has never had before. Will Ariana come to the island and fall in love with Abe and live happily ever after? Well that is hard for her saying as how she just lost her husband. Will she be able to love again and so quickly and does she really believe all this mombo jumbo the witch Rainy is telling her? She how it hard for me to write this review I am all over the place because there is so much going on. So go forth readers and read this book if to want a nice paranormal love story full of suspense.

I am struggling to describe how much I enjoyed this book simply because I enjoyed it that much. The author gifted me this book for an honest review, and while the genre is one I read the most, and the story interested me, I was slightly worried it might be a bit wishy washy. Can't explain why, it just concerned me. However, that concern was completely unwarranted. Within a few pages of picking this book up I was loving it. K.S Haigwood manages to find something quite unique to focus the story on, given the vampire market is so popular. It isn't our usual vampires are violent and so kill everyone kind of story, it was a romance but at the same time I didn't find it so lovey dovey that I got sick of it.
Rainey is such a superb character I would love to be able to meet her and when Joan's first appeared I thought he would annoy me, but ins causal fact I adored him. As for Abe. The fact this incredibly old guy can be such a softie at times made him simply gorgeous. I would thoroughly recommend this book, her writing style is fantastic, and it is a nice length. I do worry with books that just as I get into them they finish, so for me, this book hit all the right buttons. I would wholly recommend anyone to read it. It really was enjoyable. So much so I was tempted to skip the huge list of books that I needn't read first and to move straight onto book 2.
