Jack is a gambler, a conman, and a murderer whose luck finally gives out one Halloween when he dies in a Baton Rouge back alley. The wily Jack tricks the demon sent to collect him and gains one more year of life, during which he plans to repent. But Jack soon falls back into his old ways, and before he knows it the year has passed, it's Halloween again, and Jack is facing off against the Devil himself in a New Orleans casino in this dark and disturbing re-telling of the legend of Jack-o'-lantern...

Lisa Morton is a screenwriter, author of horror fiction, and Halloween expert. She is a winner of both the Black Quill and Bram Stoker Awards, and her short stories have appeared in more than 50 books and magazines. Her first novel, THE CASTLE OF LOS ANGELES, was released by Gray Friar Press in 2010, and her first collection, MONSTERS OF L.A., was published by Bad Moon Books in October 2011. She is a native and lifelong resident of Southern California, and currently resides in the San Fernando Valley.

A telling of how the Jack-o-latern got its name. It tells the tale of a morally corrupt man that keeps tricking death and the devil.

Not alot here and something about Morton's writing style was tough to get into. Could have been me though.
