Commander Nadia Petrovich, Science Officer of the Alliance Starship Galanti, has a problem—which has nothing to do with science. Her problem is Commander Huw Caradoc, the Galanti’s Chief Engineer. She and the stubborn Prime male have a growing connection he refuses to acknowledge—a bond that could drive him mad.

They are connected psychically and the bond grows stronger every day. If Nadia didn’t know it was impossible, she would suspect they were mating in the Prime tradition—a biological imperative that locates and marks a Prime’s optimum mate. But she isn’t Prime, as Huw tells her and anybody who’ll listen.

Nadia’s emotional anguish couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Prime and Galactic Alliance merger is finally under way, and the all-male Prime crews are learning how to work with female Alliance crew members. The Antareans threaten the outer arms of the Milky Way, and Prime rebels wreak havoc on the Prime home planet and elsewhere.

Despite the conflict surrounding them, Nadia and Huw will not be able to avoid their fate or their growing love. Prime selection will make the decision for them whether the timing is right or not.

Other than the repeated urge to hit the hero over the head with the nearest blunt object, this was a good read. To understand why he was such a stubborn jerk - start with the first book. Order matters here!

The heroine was outstanding, a person I would like to know.

Prime Obsession (The Prime Chronicles, #1)
Prime Selection (The Prime Chronicles #2)
Prime Imperative (The Prime Chronicles, #3)

Great story. An agonising tale while Huw took his time working out who Nadia was to him but the author managed to do it in such a way that I wasn't completely frustrated or irritated with him by the time he got there. Really enjoying this series.

Another kickass heroine by Monette Michaels. I didn't like how the hero denied his feelings for the heroine for 60% of the story but the cliff hanger ending made up for the frustrations. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

There was a bit more 'opera' than I prefer in my alien/space stories. Huw just about got on my very last nerve and the author had Nadia portrayed as way more understanding than I could understand. That being said, I still really enjoyed reading this one. Looking forward to the next one too.

Oh my god did I hate Huw. I don't think his headspace/intention of not mating Nadia cuz she's Terran and he might have a Prime mate was fleshed out enough. I think another author could have made this tension filled and made you feel sympathy for him, but I just wanted Nadia to tell him off and leave. Instead she was "patient" but in reality was just so unrealistically okay with his logic and it was so irritating.

I've now read three of the Prime Chronicles and overall they're fine. It's well done world building and fun to read, though I don't feel like the conflict is really that well done. The first third of the book goes quite quickly, but then it draaaags. I have no clue why, because they aren't long books.

tl;dr. if you like alien space romance with predestined (sort of) mates, some space conflict etc, you may enjoy them.

The hero is a bit of an ass but I did like the heroine. And what saved the hero was that he really loved his mate.

Wow! This is such a good book! I was sucked right into the story and couldn't put it down. I think in many ways it was better than the first book because there was so much tension between the main characters.

I was hesitant to purchase this book because of the 1 star review (on Amazon) referencing that Nadia was like a dog waiting for her master's affection. That didn't sound like the kind of book I would like, as I like the man to chase the woman, so I was super hesitant. While I can understand her perspective, Huw came across to me as seriously hot and very possessive of Nadia. I loved it when she ignored him back and mentally blocked him. It created a LOT of tension between the two which translated into an exciting book.

The universe Ms. Michaels has created is amazing. The characters are believable, the storyline is very interesting and the romance is hot. The only negative was Nadia forgave Huw much too quickly. I wanted Huw to grovel and suffer thinking Nadia had finally moved on. The quick resolution after all the build up was hugely disappointing and caused me to consider lowering my rating.

Even with that HUGE disappointment, this is a really good book. I highly recommend you read this if you like science fiction romance with a hot, possessive alpha male and a great story where the couple don't fall into bed on page 1. If you like a story where the relationship builds to a crescendo and then, oh ya, they get together you will like this.

Nadia is a Terran(human) commander with the Alliance. She is always in the thick of battle-fighting aliens, exploring new places within the galaxy. Huw is Wulf's brother and a Prime warrior. Nadia and Huw are instantly attracted to each other & they have a strong telepathic connection. They are able to feel each other's emotions and can heal each other with a thought. Huw is determined to find his gemate-one of the Lost Ones- a female Prime. He fights his feelings for Nadia, pushing her away, afraid he will miss his chance at true love. Nadia is always in pain, physically and emotionally-she can't understand Huw's rejection. When another couple with a non Prime female mate show the marking-they discover gemates can still happen after the couple has bonded. It takes most of the book-75% I think- for Nadia and Huw to get together. My only issue was how long it took them to hook up.There was a little too much filler in between the "non romance." 3.5/4* for me.

So Huw was a total arse. However, I get where he was coming from.

Nadia... they kept saying she was the Emotionless Ice Queen. Which seemed like such a lie. She was nothing but emotional/Over emotional the entire time.

That being said, I did enjoy this one. I loved Huw in the first book, and again I understood his reasoning, even though he had his head up his own arse.

Getting closer to the baddie behind the scenes. And I like how it's been realized that the Prime could find mates, even if the mark didn't show up first.

This one also felt a lot less repetitive.

I look forward to reading the next one.

this was a random pick that wasn't too bad. This is the first book I read in the series, but I didn't think I missed that much. It's a solid read, not exceptional but with some cool world building. I probably would have enjoyed it more if the hero wasn't doing the Noble Idiot thing. I just...am not the biggest fan of that trope. It sort of made sense in the context of the story, but not enough to make me go "WOW that was a great narrative choice!" I think I'd recommend it, if you love strong females and strong males being strong and sexy together ;)

I loved this book! Nadia was another strong female lead and Huw was a great male counterpart. Both were strong, the sexual chemistry was off the charts and the story was really interesting. There were a few moments that I just really felt bad for Nadia and all she had to go through throughout her life, but it made her who she was. I really enjoy the world that Michaels has built and I see that there's only one book left in the series so far. I hope that it's not over and she plans on continuing the series!

On to the next!

Prime Selection(The Prime Chronicles Book 2)

Huw and Nadia's relationship was very intense, she had fallen in love and he seemed to be holding out for his retaliate even though she was right in front of his face.Terrible things kept happening to Nadia, she was nearly raped 3 times.Being a soldier in the Alliance put her in harm's way all of the time, but when they finally came together the sparks flew.

This is the 2nd book in the Prime Series. This is about Nadia Petrovich, science officer on the starship Galanti and she thinks that Huw Caradoc is her mate. Huw is the Galanti's chief engineer and he keeps telling her no. He is definitely attracted to her but he stubbornly thinks he has a gemmate lost a long time ago and so he keeps turning away Nadia. This is such a good book and has some really passionate feelings, getting hurt, etc. Highly recommend this series.

The great adventure continues

2nd installment in the series is as good as the first. Story picks up where the previous one ends delivering the same quality adventures though the galaxy. Meet new characters that are their own signatures while still carrying the storyline a step closer to finding out what is going on with the balance through the galaxy. Well written and thought out storyline.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Action. Adventure. It has it all wrapped up in a love story that blazes out of control. :). At first, I wanted to smack Huw, but as the story line progressed I realized he had here best interests at heart all along - though what he did made her suffer anyways. I loved the first one. Loved this one and I can't wait for the third one!!!

This is more like 4 and 1/2 stars. Only because the Hero was very recalcitrant about accepting the heroine and his gemate. She was much more likable: she, and everybody aorund her, accepted that she's his gemate, but he has to struggle almost until the end. The first book was much more realistic in that way. But, still, the story is good and I'm looking forward to read the other book/books.

I can't wait for the third! This series just keeps getting better! I love the fact that the female characters are as capable and "Alpha" as the males. Wonderful series so far. I can't wait for Iolyn's story. The cliffhanger really intrigued me. I'm definitely getting the third book! Great world building. I'm going to have to read some of her other stories.

Even better than Prime Obsession. And se ier in a way. The space scenes are very well written, giving you the impression of being in a Star Trek movie :).
Hope the 3rd book gets published soon!!

ZERO STARS!!!
I'm sorry, I love this author, but this BOOK SUCKS! The "hero" (who has nothing "hero" for me) was a fool and an idiot and a weak heroine who allowed him to treat her like crap and stupidly accepted being the second option. STUPID!
