Alien Redemption is book six in Tracy St. John's widely popular World of Kalquor series and it's a doozy! Each book in the series features a storyline around a Kalquor clan in search of a Matara. Each clan is made up of one male of each Kalquorian species: Dramok-the clan leader, Nobek-the clan protector, and Imdiko-the clan caretaker. When the clan adds a Matara, she is the lifebringer. All of the characters in this book, have been previously introduced in prior books, but it is not necessary to have read those to enjoy Alien Redemption.
This story begins with Rachel on Kalquor in a psychiatric hospital, being attended to by Dr. Conyod. Conyod is quite taken with Rachel, and she, him, and is trying to figure out how he can introduce her to his clanmates, Erybet, and Sletran. His clan has hit the lottery and is able to hopefully clan a Matara. Conyod wants that to be Rachel, but Dr./patient issues arise that need to be sorted. Aside from that, Conyod is also skeptical about clanning a Matara seeing his clanmates have not be themselves since returning from war. They have not shared the events that have changed them and Conyod is concerned about bringing another into the fold when the clan is crumbling.
I absolutely loved this book! Rachel and Conyod are so very good for each other. I liked how their love unfolded and how they incorporated Erybet and Sletran into the mix. I felt so bad for Erybet and Sletran with what they endured during the war. They were definitely having a hard time-as military vet's do, upon returning home. I so wanted things to work out for them all because you could see how having Rachel with them balanced them out. But of course, true to Tracy St. John, there's the ones who do not want Earthers to be with Kalquor men or even on Kalquor to begin with, and they do their best to muck up the situation. Knowing time is ticking, turning the page made it hard because I knew things were coming to a head, and although I wanted to find out, I was also afraid of what might happen! The ending was spectacular just as every book prior to this has been!
Now I know once you read one book in the World of Kalquor, Tracy St. John will hook you just as she's done to me!! I have read a couple out of order-which can be done, but I recommend starting with book one to get your feet wet with all that is Kalquor! If you choose to start with Alien Redemption, have no fear! Tracy gives you a prologue explaining what briefly took place prior. I also enjoyed seeing clans from prior books for a little check-in!! Now onto the next book!!

It has been ages since I read this series. I loved this book, really great book by Tracy.
What was amazing is that I usual read the clans beginning series and then where the Matara comes in, but I honestly enjoyed this book since there is not a book written of the 3 male main characters maybe that why I enjoyed this one,,

This book is the sixth in the Clans of Kalquor series written by Tracy St. John. I bought it the day it came out and finished it within a few hours, then went back and read it again. I didn't get around to writing a review however since me and my 4 month old son caught a flu I wasn't able to crawl to my computer to do so. So now with a fresh pot of coffee to try and gather up my shattered brain and my baby in bed for the night I'm gonna give this review a try :P.
Each book in this series follows a clan made up of 3 male Kalquorians, a Dramok (the clan leader), a Nobek (clan protector), and Imdiko (clan caretaker), as they find the fourth member of their clan their Matara Rachel(the female). The characters in this book have been previously introduced in the short stories compilation released earlier. You met Dramok Erybet, Nobek Sletran, and Imdiko Conyod in the short story with Empress Jessica's mother and Emperor Yuder. They were the clan asking the Jessica and her mother for advice. Only a short 2-3 sentences in the story but enough to go "hello we're here!". You met Matara Rachel in the last short story of that collection. I won't go into details but it was one hell of a cliff hanger making you wait and go crazy trying to find out what happened waiting for this book.
I must say I was anxiously waiting for this book since I read the short story collection the author had released.It starts with Rachel on Kalquor with her therapist Conyod. The whole idea behind the story is based off the incident at a place called "New Bethlehem". Throughout the book you come to find out what happened there that was so horrible. You get to see past clans from the other older books which was nice. You also get to see what Kalquor is like for the earther mataras and explore the world more which is wonderful and adds depth to the world. The author also took a crack at writing a mystery sort of erotica and it was written very well. My only complaint is we never get to see what happenes with the mataras on their 9 month trip from earth to Kalquor.
Once again Tracy St John has done a wonderful job with her relationships as well. Rachel and Conyod are so adorable together and she adds in Erybet and Sletran into the mix beautifully as well. The clans story is so heart breaking that the whole book your dreading turning the page because your scared what might be there but at the same time racing from page to page frantically hoping for a happily ever after for this wonderful group. The author writes the erotica in her books wonderfully. I will warn some people if you have read her previous books you know that while there isn't any m/m directly, its spoken about. However in this book there are some instances where you catch glimpses of some m/m in the background with random unnamed characters, and then very lightly and briefly with her own clan during their times together. Personally I found it nice that the clan was still involved with each other. In the previous books it seemed that as soon as the clans got a female they weren't as involved with each other and instead shifted to her. In this one you get to see some wonderful moments between the men of her clan. You definitely can see the influence of the New clan Beginnings spin off here.
I must say when I started this series I read Alien Slave first then was like "whoa are there more?" I then proceeded to read the books in crazy mismatched order, and upon finishing the last one I was slightly confused so I went back and did some research and found that I had read them way out of order. All the books are stand alone in that you don't need to know previous characters to make the story good. However the world that the author has built is amazing! The back story of how the timeline has progressed and whats going on means you get more from the story if you have read them in order because of the world. The author at the beginning of this book includes a prologue that lets new people know whats going on. However if you have the time start from the beginning like i said the author has put so much into creating this world and its so amazing that I suggest starting from the beginning.
All in all a good book and wonderful addition to this series. Sadly now we must wait for the next book which means I will spend far to much money trying to find books to fill the void until then. Tracy St John is a one of a kind author with a wonderful imagination and a great story to tell. Now that I'm out of coffee and its late here I'm going to call it good. Much more character driven then the past efforts I thought this dealt with PTSD as a topic pretty well in general. It didn't go far enough into how to work through that sort of problem but it does recognize it - and in the context of alien-human war that's pretty cool.
The sex is ok - perhaps the very best part is FINALLY there is a tiny bit of MM action in one of these clan + matara books. It's minute - but it's there. I for one e do not buy for even a fraction of a second that a strong clan of 3 that has been regularly having sex amongst themselves all the sudden get a female and stop that. Nonsense. They love each other - and they are not going to stop having sex. Which is a pet peeve of mine in these books. By far (FAR) the strongest in the Kalquor books are the Clan Beginnings with the MMM pairings. The character set up is better, the sex is better, the whole set of books is better. I'm not a huge fan of females in my books but these I'll tolerate mostly because I like the characters in general and I am vested in Kalquor.

wow as usual Tracy is kicking but in her books!! Such a talented author.. This edition in the series continues on so nicely!! After the war we still see those who fight against the Kalquorians even though allthey offer is help, medical, free food and aid of any kind with nothing ask for in return.
Rachel was mutalated by her own government and left for dead in a prison cell on Earth, I remember when she was found in the 5th book. Currently she has been in the women medical wing in Kalquor, given all the medical need, her body re-generated 'the wounds' which were horrific, her vocal cords were severed and have now been repaired.
The only thing they could not heal was terrible scars on her body. She feels so self conscience about these scars but the clan of Conyod has accepted her with open arms and wish for her to be their Matara.
The woman of the clan who will marry the all, bear their children and share in every part of the world they want to give her
It is all wonderful but ... there is a person someone.. who is killing earth women, mutalation, horrible killing senseless and Rachel is the one he wants to kill most...
lets see what happens her clan does not know shw is a target so how to prepare for something you know nothing of?

Book 6 in the Clans of Kalquor series had a lot more substance than the previous book. Many of the characters from previous books are re-visited doing the post war jobs. I liked the setting of this story (the capital of Kalquor, rather than on a spaceship) and the emphasis on the mental and emotional cost of war. The mystery was interesting although I figured out the evil doers early on.

Hot and sexy
I think that this one was darker than the others so far. I also think this one may have had the most sex. I'm excited to have seen some MM action. I've been wanting to see that from the very begging of the series.

A little tedious.
Good story and interesting world if only they would not repeat their titles over and over gets exhausting. Stories are very long.

4-stars *despite* the too frequent and unnecessary coerced and even forced ‘consent’ sex situations and too often uninformed depictions of SM and BDSM ~ trying to bracket that, there is some good writing and story development here ~ the gratuitous sexual violence of this series was/is hard to deal with, though

I've really enjoyed St. John's "Clans of Kalquor" series.
Rachel's one of the earth women rescued by the Kalquorians after the war, but she's just recently started to recover from the trauma she's suffered. Dr. Conyod's been taking care of her...and falling in love with her. He convinces her to meet his clanmates, Dramok Erybet and Nobek Sletran to see if they'd all be compatible. But both Erybet and Sletran have their own horrific battle trauma to contend with, and all the clanmates are suffering. But as Rachel and the clan grow closer, it becomes clear that the slaughter is continuing, and that they're all in danger.
It's a good story -- there's lots of action and suspense, and tons of sex. Apparently Rachel's PTSD hasn't affected her sex drive at all...:) But St. John does a nice job of making you feel how damaged both Erybet and Sletran are -- and how their trauma affects the whole clan.
Characters from prior books are woven into the plot, and it's nice to get an update on their lives as well - sort of a family reunion.

*This is a DNF for me.
I tried and tried but made it about half-way through before calling it done.
Nice sum up of history lesson, past events, sets the story if uve never read previos stories.
However when it got into the actual story on Conyod, Erybet, and Sletran along with potential Matara Rachel "Ray-Ray" it was a roller coaster of liking and hating it.
I didn't mind Conyad and Ray-Ray they seemed like a cute perfect match. That didn't seem the case when she met the other two of his clan. Yes it gets to the point of her having sex and begining to have feelings for all three, but...I don't know I can't get past Sletran.
I don't like him and his "mood" changes I believe are the main reason I can't make it through this book.

This was a really good read. It had a great twisting plot and an interesting turn in the personalities of this particular Kalquor clan. A lot of thought went into the making of this book. I appreciate that. It is a rollercoaster of emotions that keep you reading - it kept me reading all day and way after dark. It was worth the dry, scratchy eyes from reading too much. Well done, Tracy St. John.

This clan was far from perfect they showed weaknesses and they overcame trials. Rachel was put into a female prison, shut underground. She was rescued in the short story stories. Her vocal chords were severed so she hasn't talked in years until the kalqour restored them. She can barely talk and ask she wants is love and support from her the strong clansmen but they are fighting an internal battle with themselves and can't escape the nightmare of war. Seeing how they help each other and combat the protagonist is awesome. I Def recommend this book.

Finally..... There are books in this series that I have graded with one or two stars. But this one... This one was finally what this series actually deserve. There was no rape, no forced matings, force seductions, no hateful characters that I cannot forgive no matter what happens afterwards and most importantly no racism between the main characters. The heroine actually knew what she wanted and went for it and the heroes was actually nice people. I loved all the characters. The action level was perfect. I really really loved this book.

I think this is my least favorite book in the series. I took me forever to finish it, I found it kind of boring. I would read a little then go on to another book then go back to it and go back and forth that way until I finished it. It took me a long time, I just couldn't get into it. I don't know why I struggled with this one, but I just couldn't do it. I liked the little mystery in the story, but that was about it.

Found this story to be very captivating. Every time a matatra was killed and evidence seem to be pointing to Setran, in my mind I keep saying don't let it be him. Its like I could feel the emotions vibrating off of the clan and boy was I happy when it wasn't him. Lovely story. Strong characters. Love it.

I have read this entire series. I like the world building. It's engaging and fascinating. Certain parts of the anatomy of the male aliens are...well a bit much. The constant bible thumping and warbling gets old but it still it didn't keep me from reading the entire series. The characters were likable and the story was intriguing.

I enjoy this series and I loved the romance in this one with each hero. The heroine was wonderful. I wasn't a fan of the serial killer sub plot. rarely am.
I love the world building here and can't wait to read another book in the series.

As always I am never disappointed with my sexy alien Kalquorians. I mean how can I complain when a girl has three incredibly sexy men catering to her every need? Not only are these books extremely sexy but the storyline is amazing as well. Definitely one of my favorite Paranormal Erotica series.

Omg this is my fav of the series. With all the characters damaged in some way it really helps to suck you in and keep you guessing.

This wasn't my favourite of this series, but it was still quite good. St. John is AMAZING at world-building, and this book just further brings Kalquor alive even more.

I didn't want to stop reading this book as you just have to know how everything is going to work out for Rachel and her clan Erybet, Sletran and Conyod. Although it's pretty easy to figure out who's behind the threat to the mataras, the book is still written so well and the emotional turmoil you experience on the way is incredible. Very good read.

In this series I've mostly liked the story line and characters. I am also liking it better as the forced seduction sex becomes less and less. Gotta admit though as a whole I'm getting tired of all the sex. I would much rather have a few detailed scenes and then the rest being only partial or hinted at. At this point I feel like just skimming through them.
