2 Stars! I believe in Christmas magic, but this was a little too magical!

This short story had promise, but it didn't have a enough pages to fully develop with all that ensued! It was just a little too good to be true.

This ended up being a sweet romance with a little mystery and paranormal elements included. It all takes place on Christmas Eve as teacher Amy Gold is decorating her home and cooking in preparation for her boyfriend's first traditional Christmas celebration. As she awaits deputy Gray Cassidy's arrival a surprise gift arrives at her door.

In The Gift we meet Amy who is trying to give Gray, her boyfriend, the perfect Christmas he has ever had. The next day she plans to break up with him. Messed up, right? Who does that?

This is a short story and a Christmas one so everything turns out prefect of course, however, there was a bit of mystery thrown in and even a touch of paranormal.

While getting the Christmas dinner ready on Christmas eve, Amy is thinking about how she would like a child and then there is a knock on the door. Lo and behold, it's a child. She is dirty, cold and obviously neglected. It takes a bit of a turn there with Dora there but, since I expect it with Christmas novellas I expected everything to work out. What happened to Dora was messed up though and to her mother? I couldn't imagine.

This was a good story for a short one and definitely a happily ever after. Super quick read at 36 pages but a good one.

I never read this author before, but after reading this heartwarming story, I’m going to try to stock up on her other titles.

Who doesn’t want to believe in Christmas miracles? I know I can’t help but believe…

The heroine, Amy wants so badly to have kids, but the reality is cruel and she knows that wish would never come true so she decides to spare her boyfriend this pain by setting him free so he can have a family he deserves.

On Christmas Eve everything changes as a bedraggled little girl shows up at her house and Amy has no choice but to help this little girl and by choosing that path, everyone’s destiny will change.

There’s no way you’re going to not love this story. It has everything in it for this season of God’s miracles. Go for it!

A heartwarming and inspiring short story that proves there really is magic at Christmas time.

Amy Gold has always wanted children, but is unable to have any. She plans to leave her boyfriend, Gray Cassidy, because he deserves to have a loving family and lots of kids. On Christmas Eve a little girl shows up at Amy's house all dirty and obviously abused. She says her name is Dora. Amy will do anything to help this child. Following Dora's tiny footsteps, back to where Amy believes she came from While out, she sees the sheriff and his daughter Kirsten, who is psychic and just by seeing Dora, she is given the vision of what happened to her mother. The mystery is solved, but will Amy and Gray be able to work out their differences? And, what happens to little Dora?

I've read this one before, and chose to read it a second time. I am a sucker for lost kids, Christmas, love and happy endings. This novella/short story has them all.
Carmichael should expand this into a full length novel!
Short but a moving story that touches the heart.

The Gift by C.J. Carmichael is a very strong and emotional story about a woman and a child.
It's a short story that you easily can read in one setting and it's a good one.
It's situated around Christmas Eve but you can read it at any time during the year.

This was a free kindle book although it said it was a novella. It was a sweet short story that took 20 minutes to read. I enjoyed it even though it has a lot of potential for developing into a full length novel.
