In 1965, she married Michael Taylor with whom she had two children, Angela Taylor-MacIntyre and Alisha Taylor Thurmond. Ms. Taylor attended the Medical College of Georgia from 1977 to 1979 and Augusta State University from 1980-1981. She withdrew from the latter after she sold her first two novels. Today, she is the author of thirty-nine novels, three novellas, and many contributions to other collections. There are thirty-nine million copies of her works in print worldwide and she has made The New York Times Bestseller List eight times. Ms. Taylor's works have also been featured ten times on the "1 million +" bestseller's list at Publisher's Weekly.
Some of Ms. Taylor's most recent books include By Candlelight, Someday Soon, Lakota Dawn, and Lakota Winds (due out in paperback in May 1999). She has also made contributions to other books including The Leukemia Society Cookbook, Christmas Rendezvous, and Summer Love. She lives in the country on seventy-nine acres of woods and pasture with a lake and a catfish pond. She writes her novels in a Spanish cottage which overlooks a five-acre lake, a working water mill, gazebo, and covered bridge.

And it's FREE today!! Graphic serial killer mystery. Not for the faint of heart.

I did not see that ending coming! Janelle Taylor has been one of my favorite authors for over 25 years and she has never disappointed.

This book has so much potential. The premise is amazing and the way I had to keep guessing who the killer was made for a great read. This review is sounding like a 5 star one, hey? Well I am sad to say, it didn't get there for the below reasons:
1. This book has some very graphic content that will horrify, it has, gore and mutilation triggers, rape, physical abuse to women, and quite a lot of swearing.
2. Brace yourself, you're thrown in the deep end with no warning and the first few scenes are pretty graphic.
3. As I read on, the crime and detective work part of the story got better. It shows that Janelle has either watched a hell of a lot of crime TV or she thoroughly researched that part. Where I had issues was with the torture and murder scenes. Each one was almost exactly the same as the last, with the exception of name changes and torture implement they could have been swapped around.
4. Where's the closure? Is there another book? It's left wide open.
Overall, a good book, but not great.

Blah Blah Blah. I don't know how this got so many good reviews. It was all repeat repeat repeat. Haneous rape, I'll find him, nope I didn't. Same rape with a different person, repeat. Then the magical bump into someone in the hall, and fall madly in love instantly. I couldn't finish cause it just kept repeating over and over and over

A page turner for sure....a very fast paced, "adult" mystery that I ended up reading in a sitting. Got "Necessary Evil" because it was free and I had not read anything by Janelle Taylor. I was not disappointed and will definitely read more of her work....

This book pulled me in from the first page. The characters are interesting enough to want another book and more answers. Personally, I figured out who the Avenger was early on. But there are still enough plot twists to keep you reading.

Reading this book triggered my "inner prude." I found the rape scenes to be a little too graphic and violent. The storyline was interesting (vigilante justice), but the ending was too unresolved for me.

Necessary Evil was an absolute great book. I could not put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thriller. Well written. Excellent story. Awesome characters. I highly recommend this book.
