He was beautiful, the alien. He was tall, pale and skinny, like I would have expected but what I didn’t expect was how breathtakingly handsome he was. His hair was dark, his ears were slightly pointed, in fact all of his features were rather sharp and pointy, but not so much that he would stand out in a crowd of humans. His eyes were the giveaway; they were red with a black slit down the middle. His eyes should have been creepy and freaked me out but the more time I spend with him the more I love his warm, red, beautiful, comfortable, eyes. Wait! It’s just the eyes I love, right? It can’t be him; he’s an alien. There’s no way I could have feelings for an alien…is there?
Between Crimson & Mercury; a clean romance with a little sci-fi, humor and adventure.

I was born. I went to school. I got married. I had two kids. I wrote a book (Actually, I've written several books.).
I think that says it all.

Crimson Mercury: Abduction by Kathrine Kautzman looks to be the beginning of a lovely new science fiction combo romance series that we all should be keeping our eyes on! Sid is a little lost...she was supposed to be getting married after all, but was unexpectedly abducted by aliens so that she could marry their leader instead of her bewildered fiance. She finds herself stuck with the alien she is betrothed to, and his brother, and it's not her intended that's starting to make her heart beat a little faster when she sees him.

Alas, the dreaded love triangle is alive and kicking here, though there's an added level of interest due to the two male angles being brothers...also the whole alien thing is another matter entirely. My utter hatred for love triangles aside, Kautzman did a pretty good job with making individualistic characters and not just mirror images or foils in terms of her male leads. While one was a bit too goody-goody for my tastes, and I never quite found myself jiving with Wolfgang, I can't say that both characters weren't fleshed out and they most definitely had their own motives and personalities.

This is a satisfyingly consistent romance for those of us who like the spice of something "other" in our lusty reads. The alien aspect is really what made this book stand out, as we got a chance to really figure out these aliens and why exactly they like to make crop circles and probe people. Though I would like to learn more, as some ideas seemed to be glossed over and I could have used a deeper understanding, Crimson Mercury has notes of a space-ified Twilight and it will certainly appeal to fans of that series.

I loved this book! Such a fast moving story, that holds your attention! I am not one for alien type stuff, however I do love a good love story. Who doesn't? It read so easily that it comes alive in your head. A good book for vacation or anytime you need a little mental break from reality! Grab a cup of hot cocoa or coffee, or hey sit at the beach reading while getting a tan! I don't know just find the time and take a gander. It's worth it!

I was unsure I would enjoy this book about aliens but Crimson Mercury is a quick, enjoyable read which has left me thinking about the way I perceive others. It is a sweet story of finding love, figuring out life, and changing perceptions. Watch out for this up and coming author!
