Fantasy, romance, and horror converge in this modern-day retelling of the Persephone myth. Sophie Olds knows that she must someday choose between the secretive farming commune she calls home and the independence of "the real world." But her decision becomes complicated when she follows a mysterious stranger into a parallel dimension that exists between those of the living and the dead. Don't miss this dark, romantic spin on a classic tale, revived and crafted by Brea Nicole Bond, author of the Flicker Blue series!

The instant love is annoying. They met at a party, couldn’t stop gazing at each other so they slept together that night and made out a ton after that. And now 60% into it they still kiss here and there ever since then and I just don’t understand why this stupid romance happened the way it did or why no one warned me or anyone that it’s just some dumb instant romance plot.
I thought that they had a past life with each other because of how stupidly attracted they were of each other but now 60% in and they don’t say anything about that so I don’t know. Later on they kind of stop being so attached like before but I still hate it lol

And of course for Adam, the guy who likes her but won’t have a chance, they were a thing but FL doesn’t love him but she knows Adam loves her. So instead of stopping this cuz u know by the end someone will get hurt, she continues for who knows how long. Yeah she did say she didn’t think of it as too serious but she KNEW Adam took the relationship seriously so she should’ve communicated with him more talking about this and clearing up any misunderstandings or just ending it but ofc she doesn’t and let this go on cuz she’s dumb.
Even though I hated the series Posephone, even that had better romance then whatever this was

I like the story but the romance is so bad and ruins my enjoyment

I LOVED this book! The concept was intriguing enough with its originality (I love me some Greek mythology!), but once I started reading, I couldn't stop. (No, really, I finished this in two sittings, and when I wasn't reading, I was thinking about it.) The parallels to the Persephone/Hades myth were cleverly and expertly deployed, and Ms. Bond's particular twist on this somewhat darker myth brought it to life.

Brea Nicole Bond has such talent - not only is her writing beautiful and eloquent and compelling, her characters drew me close and held on so tightly, they didn't let me go till...well, I still think about them, actually. They were just so ALIVE. And Ms. Bond wrote them so vividly, the conflict and tension between the two main characters was palpable. Even the minor characters were well-fleshed out and three-dimensional.

It's a hauntingly beautiful story, and I highly recommend it - especially if you love excellent and unique twists on mythology! This is now one of my favorites.

I really enjoyed this book. A lot of it could be considered hokey and I wish the male lead would step up a bit but overall very entertaining and endearing. The author writes to where you can really visualize the world the characters live in and add your own imaginative twists to the story to make it your own.
