Here is a comprehensive program that will help turn anyone into a good public speaker.

Among the first things to consider is the venue where the speech will take place. As an example, say that you expect 50 people in a room that can hold 100 people. Do you put out 100 chairs and hope for the best? No, you put out 50 chairs. It is much easier to get more chairs from storage for late arrivals than to ask those sitting in the back to move forward (there is very little chance that they will do so). Get to the venue early, and familiarize yourself with the surroundings. If possible, talk with some of the attendees ahead of time, to get a feel for the audience.

Do not start your speech with a joke; it will probably bomb. If handouts are included, leave them for the end. If they are handed out at the beginning, the audience will read the handouts and ignore you. Tell a story with your speech; give your audience someone with whom they can identify. If possible, include some dialogue, too (to make the speech more "human"). If there is a PowerPoint presentation included, leave the slide up long enough to be read, then shut off the projector bulb, until it is time for the next slide. Otherwise, the attention of your audience will be on the slide, and not on you. Tailor your speech to your audience; a speech for senior citizens will not work before senior business executives.

People will remember the last 30 seconds of your speech, so that is the place for your conclusion or call to action. If you have Q&A, do it before the end of your speech; people should remember your conclusion, not the last question that was asked. Do not say "Are there any questions?" (you will probably get silence). Instead, you should say "What questions do you have?" Don't forget things like taking questions from all parts of the room. If the questions aren't coming, you can say something like "A question I get asked a lot is..."

The author has done a lot of research on the art of public speaking, and it shows. This is recommended for those with all levels of expertise in public speaking, from Beginner to Veteran.

This is a product of 10 years of research and testing of a variety of different techniques on how to successfully become a first class speaker and you can see it from the very first pages.

It is that kind of book (because I can’t really say it’s a guide, it just has that warmth and enthusiasm you can’t find in a normal guide) that is useful no matter what’s your occupation. This book teaches you how to interact with your audience and how to mentally prepare yourself when speaking in public. The paralyzing fear, the sweating hands, the trembling and the heart that is insanely beating, those are all normal, it happens to the best of the best, but “Magic of public speaking” shows you how to control some of those symptoms and in some cases how to use that same fear that stops you to speak in public, to your advantage.

“Allow fear to transform you.”

But it doesn’t only prepare you mentally, it also has great tips on how to dress, act, talk, how to interact with the audience, how to get their attention, how to prepare them to really listen to you, to like you even before they hear you talk. This book shows you how to make public speaking a fun by introducing personal experiences in your speech and by this making people feel more attached to you.

I enjoyed reading it and I am happy that I did because I was always, not necessarily a shy person, but way to nervous when speaking in public and I now have a couple of tips on how to canalize some of my reactions when on stage or even talking to important persons that usually intimidate me.

I have always hated public speaking, but unfortunately in my line of work I have to do it on a regular basis. Luckily, I was able to read Magic of Public Speaking: A Complete System to Become A World Class Speaker. This book does a great job of setting the stage and discusses everything from what to wear to make you feel more comfortable to a great conclusion and q and a. I found this book to be full of great ideas for engaging your audience but one of the things that I found most useful was to tell a story because not only is it engaging but if it's interesting enough it will leave them with a lasting memory. I would highly recommend this book for basically anyone but it is highly useful for anyone who is involved in business.

Wonderfully written advice and tips for public speaking. I enjoyed the stories told, and benefitted from the techniques described. I read this book because I am in the middle of a career change, resumes, interviews, cover letters and all that goes with it. I felt I needed something more in my interviews. This book helped me overcome my nervousness while speaking with potential employers, and gave me more confidence in my answers! I would recommend this book to anyone!

Some practical tips for public speaking, but not particularly exciting or well organized.

This was a good, comprehensive book of advice for public speaking. It covers content, preparation, and presentation. I read this because I was not able to take a class in school, and I think that this book gave me the tools I need to be sufficient in public speaking. The reason this doesn't get five stars is because a five star book would have made it a little more entertaining. With that said, he does include many stories, often amusing, that illustrate his points and give more realism and context to what he is saying. It is evident that english is not his first language, since it seems to me that his writing is a little stiff; just noticeably staccato and a little bit cliché, if that's the word. However, he does teach the reader very valuable tips. None of this book felt like filler, and almost everything he said was useful. If you're looking for a good guide on public speaking, look to this book. This will be an especially useful read if you are looking for tips on speaking in terms of business. I learned a lot, and will refer back to it next time I will be having a presentation or a speech.

While I am not planning to become a great speaker, I really enjoyed getting inside the human mind and learning about the psychology of speakers and their audiences.

Mediocre

Really basic. I might have been able to write this book in one sitting. Author seems earnest but I can't recall anything fresh

I don't want to give away too much...but this book reads more like a story than a "guidebook." Broken off into small, 'digestible' segments, each one have realistic examples, that you feel what is being said; the nuggets of information seared into your mind. Why? Mr. Sedniev cleverly uses the emotional triggers throughout the book so you feel, smell, hear and completely grasp the content. Why does that matter? Because it sticks in your memory and becomes comfortable, reliable information.

Mr. Sedniev's BIGGEST secret is exactly what he uses to present this information. If you understand that, you will not only ENJOY reading this book, but look forward to the art of public speaking. It's not about reciting words off of index cards. In this book you are taught everything from knowing who your audience should be, on to how to captivate and engage them with what you have to offer all the way to getting them to interact with you and ask questions. He covers the logistics of your speech and how to work each aspect together effectively. It is a full system that anyone can implement with
their own personality.

Near the end, Mr. Sedniev revisits the stories from the beginning and shows you how and why those speeches were as effective as they were, referencing the previously explained material. You can clearly see how he uses the exact system in the examples.

Great book for public speakers, presenters and even authors.

As a homemaker who frequents the church, I hardly ever have to speak in public. But even so, once in while - the occasion arises where I am required to make a stand and speak before my peers. Somehow - this has happened almost yearly since I was in first grade - much to my poor teacher's dismay :) (Perhaps I'm a stubborn and talk too much...?)

Andrii shows how to harness the butterflies of fear and excitement, prior to speaking, and properly channel them into a great speech.
The book is peppered with bits and pieces of author's personal life in Ukraine, and Europe. And just for a moment as I read through his book, I felt the author connect in a very personal way - which is incredibly important when trying to teach someone an important skill.

Fantastic read and a great teaching tool.

If you want any kind of success in life you have to be able to master this skill. If you work at a factory and need to talk to your boss about a better way of doing something or you need to give a speech to the U. S.Senate you have to be able to speak coherently, smoothly and get your ideas across without paralyzing fear. This author can teach you that skill. It worked for my son who is now doing well in college and even has a girlfriend. Do not hesitate. Do not refuse to believe. if you do not have this skill you will most likely fail. Be a self actualized person and learn this magic. Make your family and friends proud of you. Make you proud of you and do this. Contact me at Daniedabear@Gmail.com.

Magic of Public Speaking is, all things considered, actually a fairly good system. It suffers from a lack of articles, starting with the title, but I give Sedniev half a pass because English is clearly not his first language. The book brings together most key points of giving good presentations, including seldom noted points like the importance of getting into a space you'll be speaking in if at all possible. I didn't learn anything new, and the book is seriously repetitious, but I'll give him three stars for emphatically commanding that good speakers never use PowerPoint.

The author assures us that we won't always have a great answer, but if we make a game out of it and look at a question from different angles, we'll grow more confident in our public speaking abilities.

There were some really great tips in this book. Since I got this book free through BookBub, I didn't think it would be well written & useful. Will put some of the tips into practice.
