The Secrets He Kept

Rate this book
Meadow’s marriage to Sander Hanson wasn’t the stuff of fairy tales, but she didn’t think it was all that horrible. It’s only after his death that she finds out that he was keeping secrets. It starts with unexplained credit card charges, and women’s names in a little black book. Then there’s the secret bank account.

Stetson Christensen had been in business with Sander for many years, but he’d stopped liking the man personally a very long time ago. So when Meadow approaches him and asks for help, he has no problem doing what she asked.

Time spent in close proximity brings their long hidden desire for each other to the surface. Stetson doesn’t want a relationship, and Meadow knows it’s not the right time for one. But they can’t keep ignoring their attraction, and they can’t get away from each other.

Uncovering the dead man’s secrets shows them a depravity that neither of them had realized existed. The more they learn, the more they begin to realize they could be in serious danger. They have to find all of Sander’s secrets in order to protect themselves, and the only ones they can trust are each other.

Will they find everything they need to know in time? Or will Meadow and her children pay for Sander’s sins?

Since she was a little girl, Wendy Miller's imagination has run away with her. Putting the stories her imagination dreamed up on paper was the only way to get them out of her head. Being able to publish her stories and share them with others has always been her dream.

As a single mother raising two sons and working full time, she had to put that dream on the back burner for several years. Then she was laid off from a job she enjoyed and, like many others at that time, had no luck finding a new job. With "free" time on her hands, she began writing again and decided to look into the self publishing route. "Tangled Deceit" was her first completed novel ready for publication.

She is often working on more than one book at a time, because her creativity has ADD and cannot focus on just one thing at a time. She writes romance and romantic suspense novels. Her second novel, "The Secrets He Kept", will be published in December 2012, and she is already hard at work on her next book.

Wendy lives in Central Florida with her two sons. Along with her writing, she also homeschools her sons. When she's not busy teaching or writing, she enjoys reading, watching television and movies, listening to music, swimming and photography. She loves watching crime shows such as CSI and Criminal Minds, as well as shows like Sons of Anarchy and Survivor. When it comes to reading - anything goes!

Wendy also loves to hear from those who read her work. Whether it's a glowing review or an honest critique, she loves hearing what you think. You can reach her at www.wendymillerwrites.com or by email at wendy@wendymillerwrites.com.

The Secrets He Kept by Wendy Miller is a suspenseful romance that starts with Meadow's husband's death. Meadow thought their marriage was good, but after his death she discovers that he had many secrets. Secrets like unexplained charges on his credit card, a woman’s name in his little black book and, most intriguing of all, a secret bank account. So Meadow turns to her husband's business partner, Stetson, for help. Together they search for clues about the mysterious circumstances. The more they uncover, the more they are forced to see that they could be in serious danger. It also forces them to look at the way they feel about each other, which has been warming up ever since they started spending more time together. While their attraction is heating up, the danger around them is heating up, too. Can they solve the mystery in time? Or will Meadow end up with the same fate as her now dead husband?

The Secrets He Kept is a nice mystery that revolves around a premise most people would never want to experience -- learning some terrible news about a spouse after they have passed away. But those secrets are what make Wendy Miller's story interesting and keep the reader turning the pages. We want to know what happened to Meadow's husband and why he kept a secret bank account. These secrets drove the story in a nice way and the romance was a good addition to the plot. Good job!

Meadow Hanson's husband, Sander, has been murdered. After she hears the news she finds out he had a secret life. With the help of his business partner Stetson, Meadow finds out more and more about her husband and the secrets he kept.

This book pulled me in from the beginning. It was a fast paced story that grabbed my attention and didn't let go. The characters were solid and the storyline riveting. There were times I couldn't read fast enough to find out what happened next.

This story was suspense mixed with romance. I think the book would have been just as good without the sex scenes between Meadow and Stetson. Not a spoiler because you know from the beginning it's not if but when it's going to happen. I didn't feel the scenes added anything to the story except maybe get the romance in there as I believe this was a romantic suspense. In my opinion the book would have been just as good without the steamy scenes.

If you are looking for a good suspenseful read I definitely recommend The Secrets He Kept.

I enjoyed this story a lot although there were WAY too many apostrophe mistakes throughout that got on my nerves immensely !! They were either totally left off or then used where they weren't needed !! It happened mostly on the word kids when it needed an apostrophe as it never had one. A couple of words were missing in sentences as well.
I also noticed quite a bit of needless repetition-Stetson was always chewing his thumbnail and Meadow was always pulling her hair into a loose ponytail !! Some daft names for characters too.
Gripes aside, I liked it, though. It was intriguing learning along with Sander's wife all about the life he'd led that she knew nothing about !! Quite scary how easily he got away with it. You read about wives a lot whose husbands get arrested for heinous crimes that knew nothing and you wonder "how on earth was she unaware" but then you can see why if they live with the type of marriage Meadow and Sander had. Very interesting and worth a read.
