Rate this book
YA Fantasy - Reilly, a teenager with extraordinary abilities, lives in an idyllic island town in the Pacific Northwest. After his sixteenth birthday, everything changes! Unforeseen events threaten his confidence, his peace--even his life--and he needs answers. His friend, Eilam, an old guru from another time and place (who most people call crazy) guides him to find a magical herloom--a Stelladaur. With this treasure, Reilly travels through invisible portals to different dimensions where he learns how to help others discover their own hidden powers. The Stelladaur can give him what he wants most, but when a beautiful girl captures his attention, he questions his deepest desires. Meanwhile, Reilly believes that Travis Jackson, a wealthy, Nobel Prize-winning scientist, is trying to steal the secrets of the Stelladaur to use in his ominous new inventions. Driven by an intense desire to make a difference, Reilly decides to expose the famous Mr. Jackson, and his courage is put to the test. It takes even greater courage for Reilly to trust his heart when someone he loves vanishes.

Adventurous

This is the first book I've read by Whyte, and I look forward to more. She is an amazing storyteller and this book is creative but also intensely insightful. The story draws the reader in, and makes you interact with the characters. Good versus evil, where goodness conquers and wins. Whyte has quite the imagination and the creativity falls of the page. It may be a YA fantasy book, but readers of all ages will enjoy this book.

I came across this book because a friend surprised me and purchased it me. I had no idea what to expect because the title doesn't really give anything away. My first thought when I received the book was whoa it's a thick book! This book is not one of my typical readings, however I found it to be refreshing, enjoyable, and easy to imagine what the writer wanted me to see. I think those who enjoyed The Chronicles of Narnia would also enjoy this series.

I found there to also be positive messages dealing with tough situations such as the death of a parent. While I haven't experienced the death of a parent I have experienced the death of a child. I felt the feelings descried to be accurate and other people may be able to identify with the main characters.

Other then 3 misspelling typos, I really have no complaints about this book. It was easy to follow along with and I wasn't left with questions at the end. Adding the first chapter at the end of this book was a good idea. It does make me want to know where exactly Riley ended up when he walked through that last door!

"Riley, a teenager with extraordinary abilities lives in an idyllic island town in the Pacific Northwest. After his sixteenth birthday everything changes! Unforseen events threaten his confidence , his peace, even his life, and he needs answers."

Join Riley on his quest to find a magical heirloom called a Stelladaur. A well written book that pulls you into Rileys world with very little effort. Close your eyes and you can picture the places he travels to.

Simply put an amazing story that will stay with you. I received this from LibraryThing Members Giveaway and I highly recommend it.
