Well now, that certainly was...er... interesting? Talk about uninhibited!
I wasn't exactly sure what I was expecting with IN THE SERVICE OF WOMEN, but it was entertaining and very erotic. Sarah is very young, 18ish when she is recruited by an escort service that caters to the needs of women, which sometimes includes men, but THIS book is all about the "power of the pussy"! As Sarah's story ramped up, I couldn't help but picture an older woman (when I say older I mean older than her actual age - late 20's/30's) - she seems so wise - far beyond her young age and she is definitely a freak in the sheets!
The story is told as a chronicle of sexual adventures Sarah experienced as a high-end call girl. As a sex worker, she recalls, as you can imagine, a lot of sex, but that's not all. I came to see Sarah as a sort of sex-therapist who actually gets down and dirty with her clients in order to better their lives. It was an interesting perspective to say the least.
This is a great read if you dig girl-on-girl action and stories about self-discovery - I might take a few of her pointers into my own bedroom (true statement) - just read it and guess which ones ;-)

I don't normally write reviews for books, even for the books I am totally in love with, like this one. Why? I am scared of sounding like a total idiot!! With that said, where it goes...
DO NOT be afraid to take a chance on this book, while one needs to have an open mind while reading, it truly is a fantastic story & I am so glad that I read it.
I loved this book for more than one reason...
- The story was very well written. To me, it almost seemed like it was written in the first person, like it was a true story. I loved that perspective. I loved Sarah right from the start & was fascinated by her journey.
- The story was just plain HOT & SEXY. I don't know what else to say about it. The sex was as hot as the characters...
Please, take a chance & read this book, you won't be disappointed.
Holy shit this was one hot freaking book! As soon as Sarah met Declan I knew I wanted them to be together and I knew they would be so hot together. This story was absolutely delicious. I did however feel as if the ending was rushed but it was still exceptional!
WOW, just WOW what an amazing story. So far out of my wheelhouse I wasn't sure I'd be able to get thru the first chapter. In reality I couldn't put it down after the first two pages.
It reads a bit like a memoir, but for this story it works. I have to wonder if this isn't the authors memoirs???
At any rate there is some really hot f/f action in this book, but don't let that deter you. If you think it's not your thing, please reconsider and give this story a try. It wasn't really my thing, but damn-it if I don't have a new thing. Ya know what I mean.
The title had me thinking this book was about a high end female escort being paid to service 'females'. That was true to a point, as each scene begins by Sarah being hired by a female. However from there we are exposed to a number of different senarios from F/F, F/F/M and group sex.
All in all a very well written entertaining story.
What a freaking brilliant surprise. This book was an unexpected treat. Freebie for me on Amazon! My inner lesbian loved it and my acutal heterosexual self also loved it!
I immediately took a liking to Sarah and felt like I was on her sexual journey. McClendon writes as if you are inside Sarah's head and I loved her writing style. This tale is fast paced, hot and not at all a lesbian tale. Sarah's clients show her a bit of everything. f/m f/f f/f/f and m/f/f/f/f/m!
In addition we also have a bit of a love connection going on with Sarah I wasn't sure how this would end up but I was very happy with the ending.
The picture in my head for Sarah was (Cat from the Night Huntress series) she is a tall kick ass red head with super hotness and rides a bike. I loved this little gem.
I'm giving it an extra star just for the significant amount of F/F sex, which is so rare. Plus, I've always wanted to run a brothel.
This is a story of a confident young lady who gets recruited to a high-end escort service which specializes in providing female sex partners to female clients who want a day without testosterone. Nothing against men, and there are several F/F/M and F/M scenes, but the core premise is these ladies want a day of shopping and lesbian sex.
Hot lesbian sex, with toys and attitude!
No soggy emotional overtones here, just wham, bam, thank you ma'am.
I'm told that this story is based on a compilation of real events that the author became privy to. Real or imagined, this was hot sex that satisfies that classic male fantasy.
Someone tweeted about it and said it was good. So I glanced at the blurb, free for Prime members, no risk! I'm glad I read it!
I was hooked from the beginning.
Sarah is an ordinary girl with ordinary problems. But she also has some amazing skills in the bedroom. Soon she is working for a female escort service and let me tell you some of the scenes are raunchy, amazing, and hot. Jack Jones - we need more of those guys @ as well as Decklan's. :-)
This would be a great read for the beach or just something quick to divert your attention from life. After the week I had, this was a great escape!!
I loved this book. This Book is very Sensual and the scenes between the women are very intimate and touching. Yes the book is about a Female Escort exclusively for other females. I enjoyed the depth of all the characters and how the Author was able to spring from the pages into your lap. I highly recommend this book for as well as all others written by this Wonderful Author. Shayne McClendon has a talent and i love reading her books!!!!
Wow!! Blew me Away(Shaking my head-All Good!) This story has been on my kindle for some time now!! Everyone has A Story.. This is Sarah's story-her journey and One that as your reading it, you very much feel your experiencing right along with her- It was Sad,Exciting,Sexy- Mind Blowing Hot! Early on Sarah's life sucked! She had an awful mother and her aunt helped raise her- She's a hard worker, bright student- She was young-yet strong and read people well,Like extremely well- She's blunt and straight to the point- I Loved that about her! She knew who she was and was very comfortable in her own skin, She had me laughing several times! Like how she was with Vivien- The Older very attractive Lady that approached her at the law office she worked at -(This was A very interesting encounter!) Vivien is A madam...And the journey Sarah takes through her in the span of four years is one Amazing story to read! All the characters are very interesting and Hot in their own way..And Declan was A fascinating character-You knew as you were reading along sooner or later something would have to change And who she'd end up with I wasn't sure..But at the end I WAS SOOO HAPPY!! I highly recommend this read! I'm still reeling from it to do it any justice right now..I will definetly be checking out more of this authors stories..So well written and Hot,Hot,Hot! (Fanning myself)!
I read this book out of curiosity but wasn't so aware it was some kind of f/f but really the scenes didn't matter to me. and as Sarah said in the beginning you like it or not (something like that) this book was so well written and wise. Sarah was grounded and courageous and mature a lot more .she was already but she learnt to love. and she made other happy because she take everyone from her heart. Another character made me wanted to skip a lot of chapters made my day.I liked that character from the beginning and he was also in search of himself. This book is to recommend !
In the Service of Women by Shayne McClendon Source: Purchase Rating: 5/5 stars
NOTE: This story contains explicit sexual scenes and language and is intended for mature audiences only. Do not read this novel if intense sexual situations offend you.
Yep, that warning pretty much covers it!! In the Service of Women is one of the most erotic and intense reads I have encountered in quite some time and it was an excellent read!! The book opens with Sarah, an eighteen year old student with well-above-average intelligence working part-time in a law office. Sarah is, thanks to a horrific childhood, a very mature eighteen year old who has been legally emancipated from her family for several years. Sarah has had to grow up very quickly in order to survive and she has done very well for herself but with the introduction of Vivienne, her fortunes are about to take an incredible leap.
Though she looks and technically is legal on the surface, Vivenne’s real job is as the head of a company that provides high end call girls for women. Recruiting someone as young as Sarah may seem a bit icky but as Sarah so eloquently explains to Vivienne, “I want you to know I’m not a child, either in age or mental capacity. I don’t mean any disrespect but I think you may want to f*&$ me and I’m cool with that. There’s no need to talk me into it.” (Loc. 191) And so begins Sarah’s life as a super-high end call girl.
With each additional chapter we learn more and more about Sarah’s talents in the bedroom and believe you me, they are some fine skills. Each chapter is dedicated to one of her clients (some very surprising!) and their particular needs. Understand, for each and every one of Sarah’s clients, there is a very compelling reason for them to solicit the services of a call girl. For some of the women, the reasons are purely physical and for others the reasons are emotional and highly personal. Though she isn’t required to do so, Sarah not only services her clients’ physical needs but their emotional needs as well. In this way, Sarah becomes even more intimately involved with her clients thus making her one of the most highly successful and requested among Vivienne’s girls. While Sarah very much enjoys the physical aspects of her job, the emotional toll is something even the toughest will eventually bow to and in one extremely dramatic and terrifying moment, Sarah’s life as a call girl ends.
The Bottom Line: Make no mistake, this is a very erotic read and some of the scenes between Sarah and her clients are extremely intense. However, this is not just a naughty read with chapter after chapter of nothing but sex. This is the story of a young but incredibly mature woman who just happens to make her living (at least for a time) as a call girl. Sarah’s personal story is entwined with her job and to separate the two would cause the story to be nothing more than porn with a few chapters dedicated to what goes on outside of Sarah’s job. This is so not the case at all and I found myself as interested in Sarah’s life as I was in her next sexual encounter. McClendon has struck a wonderful balance with this read and for those not put off my lots and lots of sex, I highly recommend this read. I would caution however taking the author’s warning into account – she didn’t put that warning there for no reason.
I found this book rather boring and repetative. I found it difficult to reconcile the actions, attitude, experience, knowledge and wisdom of the main character with the 18 year old she was supposed to be. She may have had to grow up early, but it did not ring true to me at all. Each chapter is essentially another tale of lust with little character development. Towards the back end of the book the author does try to add some, but it came a little too late in the story. I suppose there are only so many ways you can describe sex without cliche, and this book is no exception. I felt like the different characters the call girl had sex with seemed to have very similar dialogue during sex, but then again, maybe everyone in America screams "tear that pussy up!" So, as I say, i found the book rather boring and seemed to skim over some parts looking for something in the story line apart from sex. If i just wanted to read porn, I would have picked up a mag. To me, an erotic novel has to be more than the sum of its parts, and the sex must hold more meaning than simply words on a page. It felt mechanical and sometimes physically impossible, but if all you are after is descriptions of sex then i suppose this book delivers.
I need to preface this review by admitting that I am a compete and utter square and would not have read this book if not for the urging of one of my gr groups. That said, I felt like my brain needed a shower after I read this. It's not a book about sexuality, it's a book about sex as a commodity, which just doesn't sit well with me. Don't misunderstand, I respect people's right to be confident in and comfortable with whatever damn well strikes their fancy so long as nobody directly involved gets hurt, but human trafficking is creepy whether their boss makes it safe or not. I don't think there was necessarily anything wrong with the writing and the characters were developed and grew, I guess the whole plot just upset my delicate sensibilities. Extremely explicit sexual situations, solitary, f/f, f/m, f/f/m, group. Again, fine story if it's something you're in to, not for people who appreciate modesty or restraint.
As a fan of m/m, I decided to give this f/f book a shot. The writing was fine and the pages sizzled with the erotic tales of a bisexual woman earning money toward a better life by working as a high-priced call girl. There was certainly enough story to keep me interested until the end, but I must admit to taking breaks and reading other things along the way. It just wasn't my type of story. That said, its purely personal preference. It was interesting to read about Sarah's exploits, why she did it, the life that surrounded her and how it all ended up. If this type of story appeals, then the writing was good enough to recommend.
Another great read from Shayne! With shades similar to her fantastic book The Barter System, In the Service of Women tells the story of Sarah, a woman who gets into the female escort business and begins working her 'fix it' magic on her clients. Sarah's desire to help her fellow women makes her an endearing character, especially when she pairs it with her no bullsh*t approach. As the story moves on, you see Sarah herself grow and realize sometimes it's okay to do what's best for you and to allow others to sometimes do what's best for you too. Sexually intense, this book is not for the faint of heart.
Sarah is a young girl working part-time in a law office when she is recruited as a high-end call girl servicing women. She embarks on a journey of passion and self-discovery that will alter her view of herself and her life. Initiated into a world of passion and excess, she accommodates her clients' every carnal desire.
Each chapter of the book details an encounter with a client, all women, with varying requests anywhere from screwing in public, a threesome, a little light BDSM, to an orgy. I enjoyed the sexcapades with the MC, but I found myself wishing for a more than a series of her exploits and a few glimpses into her feelings and her private life.
After reading the reviews I was ready for an awesome story. Sadly, I was mistaken. This story is the equivelent of "50 Shades" only with women, more sexual detail, and less of a plot. The section where she justs lists characters is very poorly done. I just finished the book and couldn't tell you a single think about any of the lesser characters because they are LITERALLY intruduced in a list. There is no story in lists. I just think that this could have been done better in so many ways.
I waited over a year to read this book and I think I put it on a pedestal that set me up for disappointment It was a great build up, sometimes it was a bit much. I got bored that there was no true love story. Not for lack of content or sex scenes, but it fell short of a love story. Don't know if that's what it was to be.
yes i lost a bet so i’m reading erotica. please ignore these additions...i just really want to meet my reading goal this year after flopping last year :(
