Psychic Diana Racine and her boyfriend, Lieutenant Ernie Lucier of the New Orleans Police Department, are drawn into a baby kidnapping case. Clues lead first to a hospital worker, then to Brother Osiris, the head of a homeless shelter, and finally to some of the richest men in the state. A combination of mysticism, mythology, and the black arts lures Diana and Ernie even deeper into a plot that puts both their lives in danger.
I'm a reader and writer. My reading choices range from mysteries to romantic suspense to thrillers. All my books have elements of suspense, mystery, and romance, with a dash of humor here and there. They are available as an ebook and in paperback. amazon.com/Polly-Iyer/e/B006IUWXWO
This book got my attention immediately ... no long build up to the story. Plot was very good ... much more than a psychic helping to find kidnapped babies - although that is a main part of the story. I again found the character development to be excellent ... even some who were part of the "family" you just had to root for because you realized they really wanted to break with their indoctrination. Love the soft/toughness of Diana Racine - great main character.
This fine Author is fantastic! Not only does she write professionally (grammatically correct, which I find both refreshing and far less distracting than less accurate manuscripts ), but her words flow beautifully, innocuously sucking you into the story until you have (5 hours later) FINISHED the book, it is 0400 hours, and you didn't realize the time! (It's true. It is, presently, 0402 hours, and I had no clue...) Anyway... ENJOY!!!
Loved it. This was my second Diana Racine novel and I loved this one too. Diana just loves to tempt fate and drives straight into trouble. I really actually appreciated that even a psychic can ”read” someone all wrong in this one, her compassion swaying her made her all the more real to me. Great read!
I like this book. I got it free on Amazon. Yippee. Though it was a pretty long book, and I took longer than my average time to complete a book, I enjoyed it tremendously. It could be made into a mini part series. It has all the elements to be a hit - psychic, satanic worshippers, cult. Juicy!
Great book. Diana is. Recovering from her hellish adventure and her relationship with Lucier is growing quite nicely. Then she becomes involved with trying to locate a kidnapped newborn. Once again her psychic abilities pull her into a fast paced page turner that had me guessing until the last page.
Not everyone is equal!! The super rich get away with a lot including baby stealing, devil worship, murder, and kidnapping! Well, they almost get away with it! You just never know what's gonna happen next in this psychic thriller that Polly Iyer has created.
This book grabbed me from the first page and kept me interested all the way through. I had not read this author before but I will read more of her books now! When it ended I wanted it to continue because I was not ready to close the book!
Really well written and researched. Had me guessing. Gave me some surprises and kept me entertained through a frustrating ear infection treatment. What more can you ask from a book. I'll be looking for others in this series.
I enjoyed the first half of this book and probably would have enjoyed the second half. HOWEVER, when the author makes a blatant factual error about the moon in a book that is HEAVILY moon-centric, it loses all credibility for me. Immediate DNF.
“When is the night of the crescent moon?”
“The new moon is in a few days. A crescent moon is a couple of days after that. I checked.”

The book was very intriguing and held my interest. Enjoyed it very much. While the concept of a higher more intelligent race was intriguing, human nature still won out.
Exciting and thought provoking, with a thrilling climax.
This boook starts with the terrifying scenario of babies being kidnapped, then it introduces psychic Diana Racine and her police detective boyfriend Ernie Lucier getting the horrifying news of the baby snatching, and the action kicks off from there.
Diana Racine’s special psychic gifts are explained, and the story moves on swiftly, with Ernie Lucier’s commonsense, policeman's approach to rescuing the babies, in stark contrast with Diana’s more cerebral intuitive approach to the problem, utilising her arsenal of psychic gifts.
Very soon the investigation widens dramatically to include other baby kidnappings, and the arcane Brother Osiris enters. Edward Slater is his real name, but he adopted his other name because of something very personal in his life (you’ll have to read the book to find out about that). Tension is set up when Diana becomes mesmerised by Brother Osiris, she seems to find him fascinating, but she doesn’t know why, and Lucier is jealous of her apparent attraction to the mysterious character who recoils from physical contact.
Like all good stories, this tale escalates steadily so that the stakes are higher still. There are several other very powerful people involved in the crimes, and it takes all Diana’s skill and Lucier’s plodding work to finally bring them to justice. But before the end the most amazing shocks and danger await Diana and Lucier and the climax has you sitting on the edge of your seat.
It's an exciting book, with lots of thrills and surprises,, and the hero and heroine are clever, resourceful and have to use every trick in the book to survive. Read it and you’ll keep thinking about the characters for a long time afterwards. . .
Goddess of the Moon tells of the undertaking of the psychic, Diana Racine, and her police-detective lover, Ernie Lucier to catch and bring to justice a satanic cult composed of very powerful men in the society. Due to her psychic powers, the cult has targeted Diana to make her one of their own as the goddess of the moon.
The general theme is good versus evil, and the setting of the story is New Orleans, with references to well-known places like the Café du Monde, Jackson Square, and the French Quarter.
The main characters are portrayed well, but some of the secondary characters act like cliché puppets. The plot is layered with unexpected twists and turns and perverse family relationships, as the cult that is trying to create a master race by inbreeding and stealing the newborn babies of intellectually superior people of the southern states.
In search for an inventive ploy, the writer of the book, Polly Iyer, has inserted mythological names for the characters and has given them life stories similar to those characters' legends in mythology. Entertaining though this approach may be, in my opinion, it has taken away from the gravity of the plot, the Hitler-like idea of creating a master race to rule over everybody.
Yet, the story is a page-turner, full of suspense, and I had fun reading it.
Ms. Iyer, one of my favorite writers, continues to write layered, compelling stories filled with colorful characters and twists that keep you guessing until the end. There are scenes in Goddess of the Moon where I literally held my breath. When Diana Racine, the psychic from Mind Games, and her lover New Orleans police detective Ernie Lucier are drawn into a baby kidnapping case, they run into a fascinating group of people. The characters are developed with skill and heart; they made me care. But nothing is as it appears, and Ernie wonders if they view Diana as entertainment or a goal. If you enjoy edge-of-your-seat suspense and a richly detailed plot, you'll love this book. I did.
This second installment left off right where the second ended. I will say the premise for this one was quite unique. And I loved the surprise twist. The one where you kept thinking yes but then no but then perhaps. It certainly kept the pages turning. I have felt as if I have been on vacation from my traditional genre and not sure yet if I am ready to return yet or not. But there is one thing for sure. The story is well thought out. The characters have depth and each have their own twists of humor or that sense of you love to hate in a character. Either way and no matter how you slice it this was a great enjoyable read for me.
Whilst I enjoyed this book in the end, it didn't initially hook me in. It wasn't till midway through that the suspense started to build. I thought the ending would be more detailed but one can only presume there will be another novel.
The storyline is great using the idea of mythology & a person/s interpretation of beliefs & the bad guy came as a surprise for me!! I would recommend it as it was still a good read.
The story is just okay. 3 stars is generous. It's imaginative, sure, but the writing and editing needs a good deal of help. A lot of little things just don't add up to make the scenes believable. If I personally wasn't on a quest to understand what makes bad writing bad, I wouldn't have made it beyond the first couple chapters. There's not enough good in this to hold my interest. Others' 5 star reviews are beyond my understanding.
I highly recommend this spellbinding mystery. The author reveals her talent for weaving a complicated story that involves many intricate characters. These unscrupulous characters are set on carrying out a diabolical plan, that if successful, would change the future generations of the world. The heroine of the story and her boyfriend are involved so much so that their very lives are in danger. I thank the author for this intriguing, "can't put the book down" read!
This was another well-written book by Polly Iyer. I would have rated it 5 stars if the author hadn't at least twice allowed the heroine to absurdly place herself in extreme danger. I expect my heroes to always be smarter than the bad guys; these were real dumb decisions. I rated this one 4.5 stars.
Book 2 of an excellent series. Although it is advertised as a Diane Racine Psychic novel. It is really about Diane and her cop boyfriend Ernie and the scrapes they get into because unsavoury characters want to use Diane's powers for nefarious reasons. A 'read til you drop' book which I couldn't put down.
I absolutely adore the characters in the GODDESS OF THE MOON book. Can't wait to read the complete series. I didn't mind reading it out of order, any book with the Diana Racine character or from this author, Polly Iyer, is a winner in my book.
