Pete Carroll is one of college football's most successful coaches. He is also one of the smartest and most philosophical. He calls his coaching approach "Win Forever" and preaches it not just on the field, but to local kids and business audiences in the off-season. While his book has plenty of behind-the-scenes stories featuring some of the most famous names in sports, it's really about Carroll's approach to leadership, whether he's organizing anti-gang rallies or chatting with at-risk youth in LA's inner city neighborhoods. Win Forever holds valuable insight for coaches, executives, teachers, and leaders of all kinds
Made me question my sanity. The first story he tells in the book about vernon crawford didn't happen at the beginning of the game. It wasn't the opening kickoff. They also didn't win the coin toss. It made me question everything that Pete carroll said after that. My wife is an editor. She was shocked it wasn't caught in the fact checking round. The book and his philosophy stuff is alright. But I really had to investigate about that opening play. Turns out it was after their first touchdown. But still. Or not. Whatever. Another one down.
I’m still not really sure what this book was about nor can I pinpoint why Coach Carroll was successful. I picked out a few good points about leadership, but mostly the book was a discombobulated collection of coaching stories and a little bit of an autobiography.
