Cold Crazy
Kara is found dead from two bullets to the head, in the parking garage at the Boston Hospital where she worked as an oncology nurse, and things immediately begin to heat up. When police begin digging around, searching for a cold-blooded murderer, truths unfold and secrets come tumbling out. Lives begin to unravel, revealing jealousy and raw rage. I had high expectations for this book and was let down in numerous ways.
The synopsis gave me the impression this was going to be a murder mystery. I was excited when I saw the majority of the characters were African-American.
The first chapter started out with a BANG! After that, the book kind of went downhill. I say this because it is described (in my opinion) and starts off as a murder-mystery and when the 2nd chapter starts, the entire book is pretty much about the main character's marriage. While I understand the author was giving a background history on the things that took place leading up to the murder, reading countless chapters of a book that sounded more like a "relationship book" did nothing for me. Finally towards the end, the book took a turn towards the murder and finding the killer, but by then, I was no longer feeling the book.
I am also a police officer so a lot of the things that were included or not mentioned about the investigation were something I considered to be unrealistic.

This story started out as a murder mystery then turned into a soap-opera complete with cheating spouses and sneaky friends. However, it ended up as a murder mystery that was solved successfully. I really enjoyed it!
