Jocelyn's mother is being held captive. The Sevens are bent on killing Jocelyn and Jameson. And if The Sevens don't kill him then Jocelyn is destined to. Jocelyn Weatherford's life is not easy. And it's about to get harder.
When The Sevens unleash a devastating war on the provinces, Jameson and Jocelyn must risk their lives - and the love they now openly acknowledge - to unite their world before it is destroyed.
Laury Falter is a bestselling author of young adult romantic suspense and urban fantasy. She conjures worlds in which love is born and tested against seemingly insurmountable events.
She has three series out: the Guardian Saga, the Residue Series, and the Apocalypse Chronicles.
my goodness, this book was crazy insane! I loved it! the romance wasn't really present in this book, there was some lovely words said between the two but since they are trying to save their kind and all human kind from a supernatural war, it tends to put a damper on things. I freaking love love LOVE Jameson, he is one amazingly bad ass character, jeez!!! I didn't really care for Jocelyn in this book....no particular reason why, she just wasn't my favorite.
I love how the author blends characters from her other series into this one. Maggie and Eran have so far made appearances in every book, and the meeting between the girls in this one is crazy! I loved it!!! I am so excited to read the 4th book, but I am just so anxious and nervous too because of this damn prophecy that freaks me the hell out.
I loved every word I read of this book. I have waited for this book to come out getting very impatient and I was not let down. So glad that Maggie has been brought back into the picture, I was not ready for their story to end. Jameson and Jocelyn's love for one another has blossomed and come full circle in this book. They each accept their fate with the prophecy.
Laury you have done it again with an amazing series, that leaves you wanting more. I can not wait for the next book (which completely surprised me). Doing the little happy dance now.
All in all, still really enjoying this world. Loving Jocelyn and Jameson, particularly the latter. And Thedeo! I really do like him quite a bit. And since I loved the Guardian trilogy so much, really, really loving the tie-ins.
The writing is a bit awkward in places, i.e. a few too many adverbs and too much redundancy, but some of the scenes, especially the action, are rather well done. I'll also say that the back and forth between Jocelyn and Jameson is a little whip-lashy, but I'm glad to see most of that seems to be over with by the end of this book.
There were so many things I hated - but the most annoying would be how EVERY time they started kissing something would interrupt them - EVERY SINGLE TIME. It became ridiculous. I won’t be reading the next one
4 stars because I realized you shouldn't give 5 stars when you have complaints, even if you loved the book. Who is in charge of the rating system, btw? We need to talk about partial stars.
I don't know what to say (in a good way). My darlings, I have been enjoying the roller coaster that is this series. Remember when the Caldwell-Weatherford feud was our biggest worry? Oh the good old days, when all I had to agonize over was Jocelyn's reenactment of High School Musical breakups. War was upon us in this novel, and I LOVED it. Jocelynn and Jameson come into their leadership roles in this book, and like a said in my review for Birthright, these two are still teenagers, and so their is the inner war of who am i, what do i want in life, can i do this, what is right, what is wrong, where's the line and can i cross it as well as the fact that they have their own relationship to sort out. No more of Jocelyn's foolish break ups; these two have confessed their love and their desire to get married and start a family, so naturally they can't keep their hands off each other now. With Jocelyn's mother, Jameson's sister (Charlotte), and the rest of the family catching them on the edge of something embarrassing, there's a good bit of humor. And though sugary-sweet, it is not unbearable. Their connection fuels their power and it makes the whole thing more believable. Yes, together these two could conquer the world. If only they weren't so freaking focused on protecting each other.
Independently, I have varying opinions on our power couple. Jameson? Kicks but in this one. I'm proud of him. Unite the world? Ok. Lead a group of outcasts? No problem. And then go fight the enemy, recruiting soldiers?Got it. What, I'm injured?
But Jocelyn...Jocelyn is a healer and thinks of everybody else's health before her own. So she makes bad decisions.
I love the character development for Miss Mabelle and Miss Cecila. These characters are so deep, and learning that is amazing. These two are the power behind the two power families of this world, even if they families don't know it. They are the foundation for Jameson and Jocelyn.
Now, the end of the world plot is great, but the villains, the Sevens, do not scare me. Are they supposed to? They don't. I was expecting Darth Vader, I got Anikin Skywalker. I was waiting for the destroyer of worlds, I got a politician that does magic. I wasn't sure why everyone feared them, UNTIL THE END WHEN . But yeah. How did the Sevens rule so long when it looks like some well aimed spunk can spook them.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I've read several of Laury Falter's books and loved them all ... until this one.
I loved The Guardian trilogy. The first book of this series was excellent. The second was good. But with this one, there was so much wrong, it actually made me angry.
I know that I am in the minority about my opinion of this book -- it's got 4.5 stars on Amazon. But I simply feel that this book failed in so many ways.
Here are some of my issues:
- Our heroes, Jocelyn & Jameson, are witches being hunted by The Sevens, 7 powerful witches who have ruled for years. Jocelyn and Jameson are clearly out-matched! Where do they go to hide? A place that suppresses their abilities and weakens them. This makes no sense. Why would you hide in a place that weakens you, makes you vulnerable? You would want to increase your strength to be able to overcome the evil Ministry.
- But it's okay, because the Sevens are doing stupid stuff on their own. While Jocelyn & Jameson are hiding in New Orleans, their hometown, the Sevens are searching for them...in France, Bulgaria, other non-U.S. countries, as well as other cities in the U.S. Pretty much everywhere else except New Orleans. Again, this makes absolutely no sense. And they are not only searching, but killing witches in these places. Why? There is simply no reason for it.
- Next, we have this death and devastation across Europe & the U.S. by the Sevens, but no one in the witching world knows about it. Nope, they've heard nothing. The wealthy & influential people that Jocelyn & Jameson try to recruit to their cause are baffled.
- The story begins with Jocelyn flying to the Ministry to rescue her mother, who was taken captive a few days ago. When she sees her mother, her mother is in rags. I'm sorry, but it takes more than a few days for your clothes to become rags. And it makes no sense for the Sevens to take her clothes away and give her rags instead. But the shock value to Jocelyn is severe.
There are many, many, many other examples like this.
To me, the characters went from being believable in the 1st two books to being cardboard cutouts who simply do what the author writes for them.
Let me begin by saying that I consider 4 days a long time for me to finish a book; I can usually start and finish a book within a day or two on average. I bought this book the day it came out (Nov 1st) and today is Dec 17th and I am just now finishing it. I was SO unbelievably bored to tears by this book. I have enjoyed all of Ms Falter's other books and I don't know what happened with this one. The only parts I actually liked were the one or two where Jameson and Jocelyn actually could be alone together, all the rest was dull and left nothing in the story that made me want to continue other than to hopefully get more of Jameson and Jocelyn together again. Sad book to the series. I'm not sure I even want to read the fourth book if it is going to be another dull read like this that will take me a month and a half to force myself through.
Jocelyn 's mom is being held captive by the sevens. The two families have yo take refuge on an island to hide from the sevens. They try to save as many prisoners as possible and create an army preparing for the final battle with the sevens. Some vires defect and assist. Things are heating up and some things may not be able to be changed. I like that Jocelyn has some tough decisions to make and she and Jameson have to get the families to work together. Definitely a rift has formed due to the prophecy that she will have to kill Jameson. Fantastic read.
The third book to the Laury Falter series. Jameson and Jocelyn's love proves to be putting them in more and more danger, and as they figure out who they truly are, they also find out their enemies true reasons behind their consistent hatred toward them. Also, Jocelyn finds the actual cause of her father's death and who the real enemies are. in another one of Falter's books (The Guardian trilogy) Magdeline and Eran make an appearance in this book as well and in the next they have more prominent roles.
This book was a good book. I don't know why, but I just wasn't intrigued in the book as much as I was when I first started this series. It is really interesting, don't get me wrong. I just don't like the way it was written I guess. I had the same problem with her other series the guardian series. I don't know after a while I got really bored. The characters though are well described and I really liked them. It was a good book overall. Maybe I'll read it again later and like it.
Maggie and Eran are back and I cannot wait to see how they play part in this story. Thank goodness Jocelyn finally gave in and embraced her lover for Jameson. The fate of their world is playing out but we are still missing the last piece of the prophocey and I know that it is going to change everything!!
This wasn't a bad book, but not as good as the others. I find myself loosing interest in the characters and found myself rolling my eyes a few times. I really just wanted it to end. I'm moving on to the last installment now, even though I'm really not interested in what going to happen anymore, I just figure *I've come this far now, right?*
This series is really good. Falter has improved character development quite a bit, even if the declarations of love get a bit tedious. However, these are in serious need of a better editor. Shutter & shudder aren't interchangeable, mismatch and mish-mash are very different too. This can be very distracting.
I didn't realize this series was going to be more than a trilogy & now here I am left anxiously awaiting the publication of the 4th book! I'm very excited that it's going to be told from Jameson's point of view & to see the completion of the tie-in to Maggie & Eran.
Amazing. Laury Falter, you've done it again. The Guardian Trilogy was amazing, and Residue leaves you craving for more. Maggie & Eran, and Jameson & Jocelyn.... <3 Thank goodness Prophecy was released today. Moving on to the next, and final book. I will surely miss all of them :(
"Welch Englishman " offended me as a welsh person. One by not spelling welsh right and two for using both words to describe one person which isn't possible as you are either welsh or English!! However, other than this error it is a very good book.
