The Sydney Morning Herald Young Writer is a premier short story competition held each year for senior students in years 10-12 from New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory.

This collection of short stories from the 2012 regional finalists aims to showcase the best of this year's entries, chosen from over a thousand submissions. We hope future young writers in our schools will find inspiration and enjoyment from seeing these writers in print.
