A wonderfully crafted novel and a surprising twist at the end that knocked me sideways. With carefully selected prose the author evokes a great sense of imagery. I'm definitely on the list for the next book.

What started off as something harmless, something that would only happen every once in a while, quickly turned into a situation that spiraled out of control. First Celia loses her husband, then she loses her sons, slowly she starts to lose her sanity - not wanting to accept the changes that her husband is going through - before she finally loses herself. All the while, she hopes she could put some of the shattered pieces together...

Celia by Erin Britt is a psychological thriller that seriously makes a woman wonder about her other half. What secrets does he keep from you? What sick and twisted fantasies goes through his head when he looks in the mirror? Will you even be able to fix what's been broke if you're in a similar situation? All of these thoughts ran through my mind as I finished the quick read, and I must admit that those are troubling thoughts to have.

Nevertheless, Celia is a book that would appeal to female audiences across the world, especially to those who are searching for a quick read. Although Celia is a bit short for my taste, the writing is quite good and the author is able to keep the reader wondering what will happen next from the first page until the last. One thing that I would like to congratulate the author on is that the story begins where it should and ends exactly where it should. There aren't mundane explanations that clutter the book, and the story flows well from beginning to end. Of course, I wish I knew what happened to the `other' Celia, but that's the beauty of how the story-line was crafted... You simply need to use your imagination...

The subjects that are touched in Celia are controversial, but even though the story tends to lean a bit towards being intolerant when it comes to the issues at hand, it's an understandable emotional response that would happen between a husband and wife during such circumstances. I'm actually surprised that Celia wasn't turned into a full-length novel, because you don't often see something like this being published(which is a darn shame considering it happens more often than not).

I know the review has been somewhat cryptic, but unfortunately if I say too much I'll spoil the read. What I can tell you is that it's definitely worth a read, and although it's short, it'll keep your mind preoccupied for a long time after you've finished it.

Omg! WTF did I read!!!! Wow!!!

I got this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. WOW!!! I am very excited to read this book. I know this book is a short book, but it is a must read.

Being a married woman, i honestly think if the chain of events happened to me i would do the same. that is the sad part :(

Celia is happily married and has 2 children. She is a stay at home mom and would do anything for her husband. What would anything be you would ask, well let me tell you! Her husband Brian, likes to wear women's clothes. Like thongs, pants, shirt, and makeup! at first, it was just supposed to be a one time sexual thing.

one day while the kids were at school Celia found medication. It was estrogen. when confronting her husband he didn't care that she found it. She asked him if he wanted to be a woman and what was going on, but he never answered. Celia couldn't contain her anger the one day when Brian told her that he is going to be a woman. She ends up breaking her hand while punching a wall.

her life starts to fall apart when Brian brings the kids to the hospital to see her wearing women's clothes. The kids refused to go home with a "freak" and did the worse thing that you can think of. They called their dad.

Celia now has to face the biggest problem yet. her ex is taking her for custody, her now husband changed his name to her name and now what is there to do? she has to face her daemons before they get her!

Thank you to the author for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Read in just one, 20 minute sitting, Celia is a strange little tale of a big shift in the dynamics between a husband (Brian) and wife (Celia).

This short little novel had me very unsettled all the way through, not over the subject matter, but more over the unravelling of what had appeared to be a fairly stable relationship. The callousness of Brian floored me—I couldn’t imagine being married to someone who thought that way or even developed into someone who treated other people like that.

I did feel for Celia and for her despair. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

I’m very interested to see more in the future from Britt.

Celia is an interesting story with emotional heft and a large amount of well-written angst wrapped into a novella-sized volume. It's the story of a woman tortured by profound changes in her relationship as a result of dishonesty and the suffering her family must endure for it.

As with some other authors I've reviewed of late, this one is also difficult to pin a genre to(literary fiction, perhaps?), but it is a compelling story. I have understood that it's based in part on some true events, which may make it all the more compelling to some, though it is by no means necessary for the reader to know anything of the story's background in order to enjoy it. If you appreciate a well-crafted story, this is one worth looking into.

The book moves with the fury and emotion of a personal confession. It's disturbing in a raw, tantrum-filled, desperate way that left me unsettled and contemplative.

A well written story, short and easy to get through if not digest. A little one-sided perhaps and fitted into a genre I'm not sure it was intended for. I'm not a fan of the twist at the end. It seemed like a jump in the record. Then again, maybe that's what the author was going for.

A surprising and emotional read, and one that is filled with lyrical language. There is so much power packed into this brief story that you can enjoy it in a single sitting - but brace yourself, this is really an emotional ride!

A very powerful, very personal story told in a way that pulls you in and won't let you go until the last page. An eye-opening story, very relevant to our world today. You will be shocked at the end - for good reason. I highly recommend this book.
