Burned, Felix Sinclair has all but vowed never to get seriously involved with another woman as long as he lives. After a long day’s work, Felix is looking forward to getting back to his luxury apartment in the city. When he detours onto a road less traveled in order to shave off some travel time, the last thing he expects is to wind up stranded in a roadside ditch in the middle of a downpour–or to fall into the arms of a beautiful woman.

Recently divorced, jobless, friendless and utterly alone, Poppy Montgomery is struggling to convince herself that single life is what she wants–needs. Then a handsome stranger staggers into her life and sparks fly. Riding out the storm together, their instant connection seems like the perfect opportunity to explore a night of passion, but will one night be enough to satisfy their craving for one another?

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Stranded is the first in an interconnected series of erotic romance. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but you will find that each new character has been previously introduced in some way. As an introduction to the series, Stranded is a novella, but rest assured each new addition will be a full length novel worth sinking your teeth into.

Stranded is a very quick steamy read. Felix and Poppy are both divorced from failed marriages. For Felix, his past experience led him down a path of one night stands. Poppy, on the other hand, ran away to get away from everybody.

When Felix drives his car into a ditch, he stumbles upon Poppy's small cottage in the middle of nowhere. Their night is hot, erotic, and electrifying.

For me, their romance kind of felt incomplete by the end of the story. Even though they are mentioned in Book 2, That First Kiss is focused on a different couple. I think I just needed more closure.

What a hot little story!!! I am shocked as I am not a big fan of novellas. I like 'em long... the books of course.

Felix driving back from a work thing is so tired that he gets in the accident crashing his car into a ditch. Waking up all bruised, with a broken phone, crawling out of the ditch in the middle of nowhere as it's raining stumbles onto Poppy's run-down house.

Poppy (with no womanly self-preservation, in the middle of nowhere or a man around) runs out to find a stranger soaked and freezing, brings him into her home without questions to take care of him.

Photobucket

And take care of him he does... actually he takes care of her too. Two people who sworn off relationships feel something more in a span of few hours that they have not felt in their previous marriages.

A fast read with cutesy romance and some hot sexing. This girl is satisfied and looking forward to more from the series.

My favorite moment in the book:
While Felix is warming up in the bath, Poppy so worked up by Felix decided to pleasure herself. Only to be caught by Felix
Poppy was fully into her fantasy... when she heard the sound of a throat clearing... he eyed her suspiciously and one of his brows arched. "I heard you call my name"... "Tell me, Poppy," her name on his lips was a sensual promise, "do you always get wet when you think about laundry?"

So the gal name is Poppy and she is recently divorced... yeah, call me a sucker, but I love the name and the fact she is just jilted. Marking it on my TBR list!

I don't normally go for the novella's but decided to give this one a try.

This was an enjoyable read with characters you can sympathize with, both being divorcee's, and a story ending that leaves you wanting more. The sex scenes were hot that's for sure, even with a touch of embarrassment, for cringe worthy giggles thrown in.

I would love to read more from this author and see how she can expand the story of Felix and Poppy.

A CALL TO SPICE THINGS UP
Synopsis:

Poppy has finally settled in and accepted her new life. After divorcing her cheating husband Jimmy of ten years, and getting laid off from work, she decided it would best to pack up and move to the peaceful country. Building walls to protect herself, Poppy has decided against dating. In fact Poppy finds every reason under the sun why she can't date. So she decides on Bo, her dog and protector, to be the perfect companion.

Felix is a successful literary agent. A few years removed from his own marriage, he has taken on a different stance on dating. Instead of shying away from women or jumping into more meaningless relationships, Felix just sleeps around. It seems to work well for the perfectly chiseled body, deep seductive eyes and über masculine presence he exudes. Funny thing is that he really believe he's happy with his current life and he women in it.

But one long day and night change the game for Felix. Deliriously drowsy and rung out, Felix attempts to keep his eyes on the highway praying he can make it home soon. Unfortunately, he finds himself upside down ditch deep with water slowly running into the car. Once he's able to release himself he makes his way up the hill and down the roads through freezing rain seeking the tiny light coming from a small house. Once in his site he can't believe his eyes. Before him is the most beautiful woman he can ever remember seeing and she's yelling at him to get out of the rain.

Poppy can't believe what's happening. She's daydreamed for what seems forever to have a drop dead gorgeous guy in her grasp that isn't a douche, but they only appear in her trashy novels. Now that this stranger is here and looking like death is at his door, she can't believe it. As she brings him inside and nurses him back to health, she can't help but to admire his strong and manly physique. She's never responded to any man the way she's responding to Felix and she soon realizes that she's having the same effect on him, and for the first time she doesn't want to let anything get in the way. What comes next is some explosive, life altering, steamy sex that stirs something inside both Poppy and Felix and changes how they've been viewing their lives.

With cold feet and broken hearts Poppy and Felix almost let one another slip through cracks. Neither wants to continue to deny what they feel, so they'll have to push aside their past pains in order to take what they really want- an unquenchable, undeniable love.

The Best Thing:
I think Stranded was the perfect length for what it offered. So often authors try to squeeze everything they can into a short story and it comes off as rushed. In this particular story I didn't agree with Poppy's take care attitude (for a complete stranger) and thought she jumped in to things a little fast, but I thought it was hot once the ball got rolling.

The Worst Thing:
I was a little confused by the fact that Poppy went to great lengths to seclude herself from men and parts of the city, but invited a stranger in to her home and had a wild a passionate night with him. (Don't get me wrong it was hot but didn't match up) I also thought that it was very interesting how the story ended keeping in mind how things started between Poppy and Felix and learning about their pasts and paths. But then again it is a novella and you can't jam everything in there.

This was the perfect read to snuggle up with on cold night in bed. This is a short story but only in length. Stranded holds its own and locks you into the story immediately.

Felix Sinclair, a literary agent (sigh) in his way home from a conference when he has an accident in and ends up upside down in a ditch. With great skill and finesse he gets out and looks for help.

Poppy Montgomery, a divorcee living alone with her dog sees a man walking onto her property in the middle of a horrible storm and rushes out to help him.

"She wasn’t ready for this kind of distraction he caused her. It was bad enough she found him attractive, but having a attractive man in her home was just asking for trouble."

Though they are strangers; the tension is felt between these two once they get into the house and begin to strip down their defenses. Felix and Poppy are broken by past relationships but the immediate connection they feel could be the perfect opportunity for a night of passion. Will one night be enough for either of them? Is the instant attraction only there to ride out the storm?

"Felix was not a one stand kind of a guy. He didn’t do commitments. It surprised him how comfortable he was in a stranger’s home in a stranger’s bed."

Stranded is a wonderful story about how two people can come together under less than perfect circumstances. Call it fate, call it destiny or call it serendipity; whatever you call it is just works! The story of Felix and Poppy is one that I cannot stop thinking about. Poppy with her trashy romance novel, Felix feeling overwhelmed by their instant connection. I am anxious to have more from this author and to see where and if their story continues.

Felix Sinclair is literary agent that works really hard at his job. He's been a playboy that only does one night stands because he's been burned by love as the saying goes once bitten twice shy. When he is traveling home from a conference never expecting to be in a car accident. He's battered and bruised while trying to find help and ends up walking to the nearest house. Poppy Montgomery has been divorced and out of work for over a year now. Her marriage has left it's share of scars before, during, and after the divorce which leave her completely gunshy of men period. She never expected a handsome stranger that's been injured to rev her up in ways her ex never did. She is definitely not used to having one night stands because she's more of the hearts and flowers type person. Yet Felix has made her realize how much she's missed out on specifically the need for human contact. Poppy isn't the only one affected by their encounter. Felix is kicking himself for how he treated Poppy and sees that he doesn't want to such a player with only one night stands any more. He wants more such as family and one woman who can make him burn~Poppy. What will Poppy do next? Will Felix get the chance to admit his mistake? Will Poppy trust Felix again? Your answers await you in Stranded.

I'm definitely looking forward to more of this author's works. The story was excellently crafted. The character's were real and believable with hang ups, flaws, and all. This is one book that will get you hot under the collar to make sure you get a piece of action yourself afterwards. I will definitely revisit Stranded when I want to get revved up for the night.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short, erotic, romance story written by J.C. Valentine. Poppy is recently divorced, not seeking any relationship with another man, and lives in an old house in near isolation. This is her protective life style she has chosen, and to ensure it, she keeps a rescued Doberman named "Bo" nearby. Felix Sinclair, a successful business man, quite the philanderer, takes a shortcut home, but falls asleep at the wheel and drives into a large ditch. His car upside down, Felix manages to crawl out of his car as pain sweeps through his body. A heavy rain is falling as he stumbles along the dark empty road. He approaches the first house, opens the gate, and stumbles onto the path. "Bo" confronts him and Felix stops in his tracks. Poppy, in the meantime, is enjoying reading her romance novel (maybe as much as I'm enjoying this one!) when Bo's aggressive barking draws her attention. She sees a dark image, now approaching awkwardly. Poppy sees it's a man needing help and assists him into her house while it's still raining hard. Wow, this was never a consideration Poppy envisioned, nor did she ever see such a handsome man! Okay, if you enjoy reading romance stories, you will definitely be delighted with this one. I love the poignant, witty writing style of this author. She has definitely placed a smile on my face and a valentine into my heart tonight. Enjoy!

Felix Sinclair is on his way home and due to tiredness he dozes off and lose control of his car falling in a ditch. His body aches from the impact so he walks hoping to come across a home to ask for a phone a call someone to get him and his car back home.

Poppy lives away from the city. After her divorce she wanted a fresh start. She adopted "Bo" her doberman and loves to read erotic romances.

Poppy´s home is the first house Felix finds after his accident. Walking in the rain he doesn´t notice Bo who is ready to attack and reap his head off. Poppy comes to his rescue and gives him shelter. To avoid any health complications she makes him strip to put his clothes to dry and take him to the bath tub.

After having a good view of his gorgeous muscular body and leaving him in the bathtub she heads to her room and touches herself and she gets caught by Felix .... What will happen between these two ;) ?

Keep reading and I can assure you, you will enjoy this book very much. There were parts that I coudn´t stop laughing it was hilarious how he took Poppy from her comfort zone and of course the SEX. Hot Steamy Sex.!!

I don't often read short stories or novellas. When I do they are usually a part of a series I've already been reading. Now that I've read Stranded I do believe that I need to revamp my stance on the matter. This was one wonderful quick read.

I was first drawn in with appreciation for the descriptive set up to the story. I was given a very clear image of where we were and how it felt to be there. It was imediately done, from the very first sentence, suddenly I was drawn into the landscape. The character developement unfolded seamlessly. The tempo was perfect. In fact, by the time our main characters had met, I completely forgot that I was reading a short story. Nothing felt rushed. Nothing was left out or overlooked.

It was a wonderful reading experiance. One of the very best shorts that I have read. I am very much looking forward to what the rest of Night Calls holds in store!

Stranded (Night Calls, #1) is a cute short story. Felix gets stranded in the middle of nowhere and Poppy Montgomery takes him in to help him out. They have one night of wild passion then Felix gets scared and runs!

I enjoyed this short story. It was hot and there was definitely chemistry between Felix and Poppy. JC Valentine did a good job giving us motives and background on Felix and Poppy in such a short story. Even with all of that I had a hard time connecting with Felix and Poppy. While I enjoyed the story, I just didn't have the emotional involvement with them.

I plan to read more from this author and this series. I'm looking forward to it!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

"Stranded" is the first in the Night Calls series and the start of Poppy and Felix's story which is followed up with in "Trust". I received an ARC copy of "Trust" and figured I should know what led to it. "Stranded" is a very short novella & quick read - but there is just not enough in here to understand the characters very well-just cursory info on why she lives where she lives and why he shows up on her door step in the middle of the night. The premise is just plausible enough to draw you in and the characters were likable. It did leave me wanting to find out what was next for them.

Sometimes a little cracker comes along that just makes me go aaaahh!

This is definitely one of those, hot (I'd have given him go!), sassy, sexy, it made me cry (yes, really!) ...loved the dog too!

It's well written, packed with detail for a novella and the author promises all full length books for the rest of this series.

What more could a reader ask for? Put your feet up for an hour with hot chocolate and a biccy and enjoy!

Nice little HEA too!

I received this book via the gr group - Making Connections ...Thank you!

Big things can come in small packages and this Novella sure had much more than I expected. The story is told with attention to detail and gives you the feeling that you just read something that was much longer. Two strangers - one rainy night and two souls that have dealt with their lost relationships in different ways give in to each other. Both reacting to the shift of their intimate moment differently.

A nice read that offers a bit of sexiness, keeps you attention and makes you want to see what else is to come.

The only negative about this story was that it was too short. Felix and Poppy's chemistry is well.....hot. Loved the ending, hopefully we get to see more of them in the series. What would you do if a hot, sexy man showed up on your doorstep in need of help. Probably what Poppy did. Great, easy, quick read. You won't be disappointed.

It's not every day that a romance novella is capable of eliciting the same emotions you'd get from reading a full-length book, but J.C. Valentine has managed to do just that! With an engaging plot, captivating characters, and passion that leaves you panting, this was an absolutely delicious treat!!

Stranded is the story of two people broken by love in the past and determined to protect their hearts. Until fate steps in. To say Felix Sinclair was having bad luck the night he met Poppy would be an understatement. Crashing his car into a ditch in the middle of nowhere and pulling himself to safety just as the sky decided to let loose a deluge, he wasn't feeling too optimistic about his situation. That is, until he happens upon the lone house with the light on that just happens to be where Poppy Montgomery is hiding away from life. Without a second thought, she takes in the drenched and near-frozen stranger, never guessing that the attraction they feel for each other would lead to a night of unforgettable passion the likes she's never known. But, virtually strangers and both with deep scars on their hearts, opening up to him may just be one huge regret.

She could hear his breathing grow deeper, his thick chest rising and falling faster as one of his hands made a slow trek down her side, until his fingers found the bare flesh of her thigh.

I loved the smooth build-up for this romance, it was timed perfectly and it was a natural progression as Poppy tried to deal with her raging hormones and Felix tried to tame his inner beast every time he looked at her! It must be so challenging for a writer to bring characters from the point of just meeting each other to enjoying the throes of ecstasy in a short space of time without coming across as completely contrived, and I am always wholly impressed when they pull it off. It was spot-on with these characters, and I was lusting right along with Poppy and felt all of the pulse-racing anticipation that she did as she just came undone by this gorgeous temptation!!! I loved Poppy, too, she was so cute but had this inner vixen that really wanted to come out and play! Felix brought it out of her with little effort, but he was just a steaming pot of sexy goodness as he brought his "Kitten" to screaming out his name!!

The plot for Stranded definitely kept me hooked, as did the emotions that Poppy was having after opening up for the first time since her divorce. Even with their brief encounter, their feelings were believable and had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Felix would ever get past his fears. When I got to the last page I didn't want it to end, but I like the somewhat open-ended finish leading into the rest of the series.
I'm crossing my fingers we will see more of Felix and Poppy in the later books, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I can tell we should expect great things from J.C. Valentine in the future. I'm very much looking forward to more of this series, especially to see what the full-length stories bring!

This review was originally posted at Nightstand Novels

It took me a while to really get into this story. Maybe because I could only read a paragraph or two at a time during my lunch break and I was extremely distracted. My initial thought was that the first few pages started off rather slowly. I almost ditched it in lieu of another novel but I am so glad that I didn't. This short story turned out to be a great read and I absolutely fell in love with Poppy.

It is not often we meet a heroine who's fiercely independent, smart and not needy and Poppy Montogomery is just that.

I absolutely love the fact that Poppy is a strong, no nonsense woman. If you're a fan of romance novels and erotica I'm sure you're aware of the needy, whiney female that has a bit of a sassy mouth but Miss Poppy Montgomery is so far away from that. She's definitely the real deal. She did what she wanted to do, because She wanted to do it, not to please a man or make him happy but because it was what she wanted to do and she made no excuses for it. I also enjoyed her character's "never let him see you sweat" attitude particularly when Felix had his "male" moment. While she was hurt, Felix was none the wiser because she acted as if it was no big deal and everything was fine. I found it refreshing to finally have a heroine give the hero a dose of his own medicine!

I also loved Felix as well. The fact that despite his "moment" it didn't take him long to come to his senses was also a stray from the norm and I really appreciated that fact.

Both characters were truly genuine and relatable and the chemistry between them was explosive...not to mention the lustful and passion filled sex.

Normally, I'm not a fan of the novellas and truth be told, had I known this was a novella, I most likely wouldn't have bothered reading it. I find novellas give you just enough to wet your whistle when what you are really thirsty for is the whole, entire drink! I want to begin a novel and know that eventually I will receive some closure at the end whether that be in a day or however long it takes me to finish the book. I'm impatient and don't really like waiting to find out what happens next but in the event that I am left hanging, at least give me enough to pacify the time until the sequel or next in the series is released. I find that Novellas just don't give me the closure that I need and waiting for chapter releases is a bit much for me.

This novella, however, has the potential to become a great novel. I loved the characters, the way they met, the progression of the story, the build-up to the romance.... virtually everything about this novella except for the fact that it was TOO DAMN SHORT. Everything meshed perfectly and I'm really curious to see what the author has in store for Poppy and Felix but If it's not in the form of a full length novel, I just may have to pass as I cannot take the torture of waiting.

description

Sometimes, you just need a break from the emotionally trying, ugly cry inducing stories that are out there in the world as it pertains to romance. And sometimes, like me, you just need something, short, steamy and to the point. No drama, no craziness. Just a kindle heating, sexual tension and then exploding building story that by the end, gives you everything you want.
Stranded does that and more.
Two strangers meeting under unexpected circumstances. Check. Instant attraction. Check. The right amount of buildup to what turns out to be some pretty steamy love scenes. Check, Check, Check. This book really does hit every mark, especially for it being so short. And don’t even get me started on the power the author holds to bring places and the people in them alive.
Normally for me, a lot of description can be tedious. Boring really and often times it can drag down the flow of the story. It doesn’t here. Not in the slightest. What really surprised me, was just how well it brought everything to life. Made it almost tangible. As if I could hold these characters, the home and their surroundings in my hand.
It was brilliant. The story was short, sweet and to the point and quite frankly, I loved everything about it. Two people seemingly done with love after having been hurt in the past, being thrown into a situation beyond their control and seemingly finding it again. It was fantastic and right up this reader’s alley.
If you’ve read anything by the author before, or are just in the market for something short, steamy and sweet…a break from the more emotionally trying romances, look no further than Stranded.
My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read this before its official re-release. I see a series re-read in my future now. Bring on Tate!

Overall the book as a whole was a great read. Went very quickly which goes to show how well written it is and the level of interest it keeps with its readers. I would have like a bit more character development, but I could see folks as seeing that unnecessary for this genre. Although, it is part of a series, so perhaps the development is being saved for later - which is fine.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of the plot and general surroundings. I've grown a bit bored of the exhaustive descriptions of a rich man's mansion/penthouse/vacation homes etc - we get it, he's loaded let your brain go wild about what kind of paintings he has hanging on his wall. This author touches on certain things like a man feeling remorseful about getting her hardwood floors wet. A simple detail, but well placed. Her descriptions are purposeful and aren't too long winded which allowed the story to focus on the two main characters.

The story line is something we can all relate to and felt honest - two ex-divorcees meeting one another with walls up and all of a sudden they come crumbling down. I loved that he wasn't some mogul who was into investments or something typical and I adored that she... most simply... is just a mess. Aren't we all sometimes? I swear if she added a pint of Ben and Jerry's into the story at the beginning, she'd have a good amount of readers (maybe sans the divorce) pegged to a T.

My only disappointments were perhaps her descriptions of the scenes where they were being intimate. I'm not looking for something incredibly detailed, but a bit more would have gone a long way. And as I said before I really wished I knew a bit more about the characters as the story went on, but most of who they were was based off what we heard happened to them in previous marriages which limits their scope.

Definitely pick this book up. You won't be disappointed. It's a great quick read that's different from the mountains of books in this genre. The writing itself is simple and done well. Isn't that all that matters?

Stranded it's a very sweet story a bit too short for my liking were the story is developing too quick but overall was a good read i enjoy it.

Felix it's a literary agent divorced for a few yrs happy with his life jumping in bed with a different woman every night afraid to start another relationship.
Poppy is recently divorced after discovered her husband was keeping another woman on the side so after a messy divorce she decided she needs a change and moves in the country side were she keeps company with her dog Bo and her books.
On his way back from a writers convention Felix has an accident falling a sleep while he was driving and after he get's out of a car in pain and agony he sees the light of Poppy's house when he only needs a phone to make a phone call but fate made another decision for hm when in door way appears a tiny woman who puts his blood in fire like no woman did lately.
i have to admit the author made a good job writing this story as i loved the hot sex they had i do love indeed a book who has great sex :)

so after a hot night spent together it's a new thing for both of them.Felix is used 2 ditch the woman and leave straight away not stay all night with her he gets scared of how good he felt and runs away from Poppy. Poppy didn't understand why Felix run from hot to cold in just a second and left but life carry's on as she decided 2 get bk into the world and get a job.
At this point i see this coming that they will meet again and the only difference was that Mr. Bradshaw is Felix associate.Life can be a bitch for Poppy at this moment but Felix can't be more than happy to meet the woman who wanted to seek later and give a chance to start something new together.

As i said before my only problem bout this book is that develop to quick and the story run 2 fast but i enjoy it.

Firstly, I would like to say thankyou for letting me read this story. I so much like tales of fantacy. As we all live real lives, it's nice just to see something most would only dream about.

At first reading how Felix's day was turning out, I couldn't stop laughing. Well done to bring me into his head & to feel how he was feeling while it all unfolded before him. It was easy to follow, which I know can be hard in short stories sometimes.

Poppy I think represents so many of us & what we all have been through. Fantastic strengh to not only go through her tale, but to also survive & live on. I can relate to her home life. Even though our life experiences are some what different. I to, find comfort in a good cup of tea & a good read. As well as finding the characters & front covers, too good to be true.

Not sure what I would have done in their situation. I hope I would just take it all before me & have the experience as it was put forward. Hot, hot, hot. The obvious chemistry between Felix & Poppy was fantastic. Bravo to all the women & men of the world whom have been scorned.

Now I just pray that on a rainy evening I get my wish to help an absolutely beautiful adonis of a god, when he rocks up on my doorstep. Another wish for the bucket list.

I enjoyed this story, the author made it easy enough to follow & get the feel for the characters in such a short time. Also it contained enough to please the erotic & romantic in me, with just enough humor to make it different & make it more real & believable.

Thankyou again for the read, I now have another beautiful male to put on the mantel. I think I might need a bigger shelf. It's nice to still believe in love & romance, even when we stop looking for it.

PS - Nice Job interview at the end. Neer been to 1 of those, another for the bucket list.

•Interesting Turn of Events
Felix tired and worn out from a weeklong writers’ convention was driving home on a dark stormy rainy night when he shouldn't be, but he couldn’t sleep away from home. He was too tired, the roads were slippery from the rain. After crashing his car he had to walk to find a phone to call for help, since the crash broke his cell phone.
Poppy moved out to her quaint little house after the dust settled from divorcing her cheating husband a year ago. Since then she's chosen the company of her dog Bo a Doberman she rescued. Ever since they've been each other's companions while he protects her and the house. One dreary rainy night while cuddling under a blanket and reading a steamy romance novel, Bo notices a man walking up their drive and instantly sets out to protect Poppy. Poppy calls him off and makes the drenched and half frozen man come inside to get warm.
Felix and Poppy are instantly attracted to each other, but they've both sworn off relationships. What will they do with their attraction? Ignore the fire building inside each of them, or cave in and indulge? If they do, then what will happen? You'll have to read on to find out! This is an exciting HOT beginning to a series of books.... Once again Valentine has me hooked on another series!! I Cannot wait to read the next one in this series., this is the 2nd time I've read this story! Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.
**FAVORITE PASSAGE: yet to encounter a nearly seven-foot man, trimmed in bulging muscle, ruggedly handsome and looking for the one woman he could settle down with so he could complete his life’s mission: to be completely loyal and content with his lot in life.**

What a great book, hot and sexy read this in one sitting couldnot put this down !

Felix Sinclair , a hot, chisled literary agent is on his way home from a writers convention, he is over tired from travel insomnia and trying to stay awake during the drive; to spite his best efforts he awakes to find himself in a ditch. Bruiised and battered Felix finally extricates himself from the car and begins walking to find help, when the skies open up.

Poppy Montgomery, is sitting home alone in her old Victorian ,reading, just her and her dog Bo, when Bo starts barking and growling, looking out into the night she sees Felix walking and shivering up her drive. Poppy takes Felix in and promptly orders him to strip , of course it takes her several times telling him to get out of his wet clothes and assuring him his has nothing she has not seen before fr Felixto comply. But it becomes apparent when he removes his wet boxers and she is dumbstruck an silent that she has not seen anything like Felix ! Felix finally asks Poppy if she sees something she likes; this brings her back to ger senses , alittle flushed bu with a mission.get Felix into a hot tub and warmed up, his lips are blue and he is shivering.

. Poppy and Felix are instantly attracted to each other and though I is out of character for Poppy she winds up having a hot mind blowing one night stand. The one night stand for Poppy draws to the forefront for her just how lonely her life is, for Felix a man use to multiple one night stands his fling with Poppy leaves him re- evaluating his life style.

Wonderful story line, great hot sex scenes!

Short, Steamy and Sexy!

The Review:
This was a terrific little read, about 57 pages, and it surprised me how much I enjoyed it considering I don’t normally go for short stories/novellas unless I’ve been invested in its series because I can never connect with the characters or story. But the author packs a great deal of information into this short read and allows you to connect with the characters and their chemistry with scenes that were steamy and exciting. The idea of a one night stand based on being stranded after a wreck is questionable in real life. I would find it difficult to let in a strange man this day and age even if he was drenched with rain and looked pale. But that’s not the idea of this story. It’s a fantasy and one we could all indulge in even if in its not realistic and for that purpose, I found this to be an incredible read. I loved the writing, I loved the characters and I loved the idea.

My only real qualm was the ending just didn’t satisfy me. It was to abrupt and I think with a page or two more, it could have been much better.

The Wrap Up:
I did enjoy this read so I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future works from this author.

"You did something to me that day, Poppy," he said, his voice gone low and gravely. "I haven't been the same since. From the time I wake up to the time I go to bed at night, you're all I think about, I want you, Poppy. I need you."

Felix Sinclair doesn't do relationships anymore ever since he was badly hurt by an ex. He's a single, powerful playboy with a sexy smile.
Poppy Montgomery, just recently divorced, has no friends but a rescue dog, named Bo. She doesn't even have job. Her life is slowly falling apart it seems. Convincing herself the single life is what she needs she closes herself in a lonely house out in the middle of no where.
The two meet when Felix crashes his car in the ditch near her house and stumbles to her door needing help. What they didn't expect was to fall into bed filling the night with passion that would change both their lives forever.

This was a quick read, and though I don't really like novellas all the much this was a very good start to a stand alone series that has characters that interweave in each story. I also promise that book #2 That First Kiss is a full length novel that insures to carry on the tone Stranded has gave us.

I highly recommend this series and even though you can read each book a stand alone, I advise you start with this novella. It sets the tone of the series and a great quick read!

Great story. I really enjoyed reading about Poppy and Felix. It's short, but draws you in. Felix and Poppy come together one stormy night by chance. Felix is mysterious, witty and very handsome. Poppy is sassy, independent and beautiful. Both are disillusioned with love and relationships. Felix has numerous encounters with women lasting only one night and Poppy's divorce has left her seeking solace in romance novels. Their attraction is instant and they can't fight the pull so of course they have lots of great sex! The scenes between them were good and you feel the anticipation between them building and the reluctance they both felt from being burned before. They both think they feel more than they should in such a short time and past experiences prove too much so their encounter is left for one night. As, fate (that trickster!) would have it they meet again, but this time cannot deny their mutual feelings and give in!! I was given a copy of this to review and it's a great story to read in a night- short and sweet and to the point.

If there's ever an occasion where I discover a tall, strong, gorgeous man standing in my yard during a cold, stormy night; I hope the story goes like this.

Felix finds himself in a car accident causes by exhaustion and weather. Adding to insult, he realizes his car is immobile, his cell phone is battery is dead, and his only option is walk through the rigorous weather for help. Poppy, a recent divorcee, lives remotely in the outskirts of town with her dog Bo, and is happily devouring a romance novel when Bo begins acting guarded. Poppy follows Bo's attentive watch and discovers a man is standing in her yard.
When Felix arrives he is a stranger; when he leaves he is anything but. Emotions ignite quickly in this book (...it's a novella, what do you expect?)!! Poppy is quick witted and sassy. Felix finds Poppy amusing and uses her shyness to seduce. However, Felix's typical Casanova attitude seems to be bound and gagged in a closet. Together, these characters, this situation and this dialog, make a one night stand look alluring!

A fun, sexy, novella!

Stranded is a novella that centers around handsome bachelor Felix Sinclair. He's driving home from work and decides to take a short-cut through some backroads to cut his commute. It begins to rain and after a car accident Felix finds himself stranded in the middle of nowhere. Enter Poppy Montgomery ~ a sexy divorcee that has just curled up by the fire with a romance novel when she sees someone stuck out in the storm. Since there is no one around for miles she decides to help this stranded stranger but... little does she know that she is in for a night where they will both help each other... in more ways than one.

Felix and Poppy had great chemistry throughout this story and their night together was very steamy. Even though it's a novella, I thought the story flowed well and it didn't feel rushed. I really look forward to reading more from this author.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

So, this is just a novella...something like 90 pages or so. With any novella, it is very fast paced and doesn't have a lot of build up...nor is the climax strung out and its a race to the finish.
I thought this was very good. The build up was actually really nice, and the climax was quick but still pretty detailed as far as the conflicting emotions. The end, was the speedy part....but all in all good job.

Poppy is recently divorced from her cheating ex. She sold her house and bought an old fixer upper out in the boonies...30 minutes from the city. I don't remember reading what city, and there is no indication of age, my guess would be late 20's to mid 30's since pregnancy is still an option...
Felix is a literary agent on his way back to the city from a convention, when he falls asleep at the wheel and ends up wrecking his car. He ends up walking through the rain to find help since his cell is dead and ends up at Poppy's house where she helps him get warm...then he returns the favor in a totally different way.
But all good thinga must come to an end...
