I picked this book up at the Grand Canyon visitors center. It was a quick and informative read, presented in palatable nuggets for the geological newbie. I learned a lot!

Grabbed this at a gift shop at the Grand Canyon because I’m a bit of a geology nerd and it was so great! Written very clearly, with lots of diagrams, this book helped me understand the confluence of factors that have contributed so greatly to the creation of the most beautiful canyon! Loved walking through history and learning about all the major periods and where each rock layer is from. So so cool.

A gift shop purchase. A bit more detailed than 'an introduction" than I had expected but very well done. Made me want to go back to to the canyon & take the book to compare against the illustrations.

Really good short intro to Grand Canyon geology (as well as some additional areas of the Colorado plateau). nice illustrations that show the continental drift and sea coverages over the ages that resulted in the deep sedimentary layers.

I’m from Southern Utah and took a geology class in college. This book was nice quick refresher on content I already knew prior to an upcoming rafting trip down the Grand Canyon.

I am obsessed with the Grand Canyon and have always wanted to visit in person, so when I found this book at a library book sale I was thrilled. This book is an expository format and reads like a textbook, but it's short and can be ready pretty quickly and you don't have a quiz or exam afterward.

Before going to the Grand Canyon in June, I read several books. This is by far the best, giving a wide but well-written scientific view of this incredible wonder of nature.
