Writer of multiple books on comic-book creators. Books include "Fire & Water: Bill Everett, The Sub-Mariner & The Birth of Marvel Comics"; "Strange & Stranger: The World Of Steve Ditko", "I Have To Live With This Guy!", plus multiple introductions and forewords for Marvel and DC Comics. Also, editor of "The Steve Ditko Archives" volumes for Fantagraphics.
As at least one other reviewer has noted, the title of Blake Bell's series of interviews with the wives or partners of comics creators belies the serious tone of the book. "I Have to Live With This Guy!" sheds light on the struggles and triumphs of icons such as Stan Lee, Will Eisner, Joe Kubert, Alan Moore and lesser known creators such as Dick Ayers and Howard Cruse. I would have preferred that Mr. Bell have written in past tense rather than a present tense (perhaps to convey a sense of history in the making?) but otherwise this is a valuable chronicle.
