Rhysel Camlenn is farther from home than she ever imagined possible. The natives are friendly, the world hospitable; a return ticket is the one thing she wants and can't have. But her plans to help the people around her like she always has don't work out as smoothly as she hoped...
It's an interesting style. Alicorn is much more interested in exploring her world(s) than in building conflicts and finding resolutions. The effect is that the book isn't filled with social dramas any more dramatic than what you experience day-to-day (with a few small exceptions, which are hardly epic in proportion). Never-the-less the characters are intelligent and increasingly well-wrought.
