What's better than the perfect guy? How about two of them? --Although Taryn Hartford is less than thrilled to have them competing for her attention.
Both Zack and Jared get her heart racing, and Taryn can see herself settling down with either one of them. Her niece adores them as well, and Maggie easily wins them over.
Taryn can't even do a simple pros and cons list because both men are too different! Their careers are miles apart, their interests vary, and their families are night and day.
When death hits close to home, Taryn's world is turned upside down. The only consistency she has is the two stalwart men in her life and the niece she can't live without. But things can change so fast, and so can our choices. In order to find balance, Taryn has to let life, and her heart, lead the way. Comfortable and safe can come in different packages, and as she learns the difference between loving someone and being IN love, she experiences life in a new light.
From touring with a famous rock star to uncovering secrets that could tear her loved ones apart, happiness hangs by a thread. But there is one message she receives loud and clear, and it is definitely a choice to be made.
Writer of sweet romances, cute love stories, happily ever after, etc, whatever you'd like to call it!
Inspiration comes in many forms, from raising a family to the amazing people I've come across in my life. I love to involve myself in charities, local and abroad, and I've witnessed an array of miracles upon doing so. I'm curious by nature and never stop learning. If someone asks me a question I cannot answer, I'll research it until I can!
I'm thankful for my friends and family-- they always amaze me. I'm especially grateful that they allow me the opportunity to put my thoughts into stories that others can read and (hopefully) enjoy!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my work. I appreciate your feedback.
For the first half of the book I just wanted Taryn to make up her mind and choose someone to be with. I certainly couldn't choose. Both Zach and Jared are amazing guys and they are both great with Maggie, Taryn's 4/5 year-old niece. Once she finally admitted what she wanted I was sooooo happy! At one point I was worried she would just never choose between the two guys until the very, very end and I knew I did not want to have to suffer through that because as much as I enjoy love triangles for all the drama it can get too excessive to the point where I can't stand it any longer. (Ever had the feeling?) Anyway, once that drama had passed I loved the book even more because there was still drama but I got to relax a bit with the knowledge that Taryn had made a decision on who she wanted to be with and I could just enjoy that bit of stability.
I know for sure that my absolute favorite part of this book was Taryn's niece Maggie. She's this adorable little girl that Taryn becomes in charge of as her sister Rachel is MIA from her daughter's life. And I LOVE kids so I really enjoyed Maggie and seeing her relationships grow with Taryn, Zach, and Jared. Nothing can make me happier than a family with a little kid or kids running around and Taryn gets to create a family for Maggie to be a part of which made me extremely happy.
The story reads casually and actually quite happily despite the tragedy and angst along the way. I also liked how the conversations could sometimes take a random turn that seemed so realistic.
I really loved Maggie. She really stole the show. She's a fabulous and quirky kid and I adored her.
Taryn doesn't do well with complications and gets overwhelmed easily. What's worse, is sticking her in a love triangle. Some moments were seriously cringe-worthy as she yanks both her guys chains relentlessly. I especially hated the way she treated Zack. She's a bit self-destructive in the way that she over-analyses and doubts everything.
“I’m an insecure, immature, emotional girl sometimes. That’s a loaded combination.”
She can end up ruining good thing because of her fears and confusion. She isn't all bad though. I liked that she doesn't hide from her mental overloads and isn't afraid to admit to them either. She's very unassuming and knows how to take the advice of a steadier head when she's freaking out.
The Guys Zach is sweet and understanding but Jared is so much more entertaining. Jared really made me smile and giggle like a schoolgirl. What I really loved about him is that he brings out Taryn's feisty side.
Taryn - “Well, we’re not perfect. And I think all of us skipped school one time or another.” Jared - “To streak at a baseball game?” “Uh, no, I didn’t try that one.” “I’d like to see you try that one.” “Ha, I’m not that desperate for attention.” “It was a dare.” “It was a cry for help.”
Complaints The writing started off robotic. I didn't think I'd warm up to the book, but I did. Many times the writing slipped into the mundane and boring. Some moments were extremely roundabout. I was kind of scratching my head saying, “Um, haven't we gone over this before?...like a thousand times?” Towards the end, I skimmed. Then there was the fact that I'm not sure I've ever read a book with as little chemistry as this. And I mean zilch. I don't even know what was wrong, it just wasn't there.
Hmmm oh where oh where do I start. So the beginning was a little exasperating because of Taryn. I really just wanted her to have more direction and to take a stand on something and it was interesting enough to keep my attention. When the story started to move in the middle it was fascinating because of the dynamic of the story. The way the characters fit together and the sacrifices that were made it definitely made the story intriguing. The ending was more open than I like. I don't know if she left it that way so she can write more but it definitely needed an epilogue. I want to know what happened with the millionaire.
Overall the story was fantastic and the characters where incredible.
This was a cute love story. I did think it dragged on a bit and then it seemed at the end that things were rushed, just trying to finish the story. I'm a sucker for a happy ending:) The dramatic twists kept my attention. I just loved how Jared loved Taryn but thought it was weird how quickly Zack was completely gone from the story.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. From the description of the book I thought it was going to just be about a girl and trying to figure out feelings between two different guys. But it was so much more. There was a bit of a mystery in the story line. I enjoyed this book.
This was a free download on amazon so I decided to try it. It was enjoyable. I was a little annoyed w/ the back and forth but overall it was a quick easy read.
