Children will love this monsterously fun story, featuring die-cuts on every spread. With each turn of the page, readers reveal Little Green Monster's little yellow eyes, his little red mouth, and even a cute, tiny white monster tooth. Then, when the stars begin to appear, it's time for bed... so, nighty night, little yellow eyes. Nighty night, little red mouth. Nighty night, cute little white tooth. Sweet dreams!
I am amazed that with some deceptively simple changes, that I bet weren’t so simple, this works so well for the younger group! My toddler grandson loved this book! It is simple and relaxing with the same add on/subtract magic as the original book. I highly recommend this to parents trying to persuade reluctant toddlers to go to sleep!
I've been reading this to different groups of preschoolers. They're convinced it's going to be scary at first, but as the book goes on, they relax and enjoy it. Love the visuals in this book.
If I had a hundred copies of Go Away, Big Green Monster in my school library, they would all be checked out every week. Such is the love my school has for Big Green Monster.
How could I resist this for-younger-readers version of a school favorite?
Of course I couldn’t. And I’m glad I couldn’t. It’s just as fun and just as colorful and just as zany. Just written with very little folks in mind.
This is one of those kid's books that, if you flip the pages, special holes and fuzzy materials reveal more of what the pictures tell as part of the story. In this book, kids reveal the face of the cute green monster with yellow eyes, reddish smile and blue-green hair fuzz. Then it's time for Monster to get to bed so the last few pages show his face getting lesser and lesser until it's gone. Very fun book that ages 2-5 should try. Four stars Green Monster is the changing face of cool!
I am mostly "meh" about this particular story as a whole, but it was still okay. The part I appreciated the most was the building up and fading out of the monster as we "meet" it and then say good night. This would definitely be a great read for kindergarten and younger, but I cannot see the older littles getting into this. It would need a little more action or a little more to the story than being described what the monster looks like, and then saying good night to each piece of it.
Nice take on Emberley's previous Green Monster book. This one is much cuter and less threatening. Die cut pages first reveal the monster features, then obscure them. Great for bedtime (but maybe misses out on the empowering message of the first title.) Good for those already familiar with the bigger monster.
Simple story, but, small children will enjoy the cutouts and how the make Little Green Monster appear and then gradually disappear.
My kid loved these books when she was around age 3 and we went through several that got ripped and ruined during frequent page flipping. There isn't much of a story, but, kids are here for the inventive cutouts.
In the same style of "go away big green monster," the book presents each facial feature of the big green monster one by one, then announcing it's time for bed so it's time to say goodnight to each of those features. Good night to green monster's eyes, mouth, hair, etc. until he disappears and it's time for sleep.
cute story that is repetitive. AFter reading a few times your children should be able to read them by themselves. It's a little weird that he removes his eyes, nose and mouth before sleeping because pe0ple can't do that. My children thought it was weird that the book did that as well.
This is the cutest, suspensful book for children. You think it's all scary because of the title, but it's the cutest book about colors. It helps with children's memory as well by remembering each feature on the monster at the end.
With the turn of each page, more and more of the little green monster is revealed. Then halfway through, the stars come out and more and more of the little green monster is put to bed.
Es rapidísimo de leer, no tarde ni 5 minutos. Es una buena lectura para los niños (incluye descripciones y es realmente bueno para que los pequeños aprendan a hacerlo).
Usually die cut books are fun, but this one was really lacking in the story department. This one is cuter than the older monster version, so there’s that at least.
Sweet night time book. We liked practicing colors and counting the stars. I was disappointed that they didn’t include the numeral to match the number of stars.
I had no expectation of liking this book, but my daughter and I loved it! The reveal on each page was so smart and so well done. I look forward to teaching this in my picture book course as well as reading it to my little ones before bed!
