Nine months ago Mike had it all—the lover, the life, and not a single consequence for any of his unwise actions. But all good times end, and Mike's ended with a nine month sentence. Throughout those nine months he heard not a single word from his lover, but Mike still hopes that he has a chance of gaining back the only thing that ever mattered.

Very short story of a man (Mike) who completely took advantage of his lover and treated him badly while he went out drinking, drugging and whoring around. It catches up with him as he is busted for drugs and thrown in jail for nine months. During that time, he is treated to the silence of the man who loved him, Brady, which of course is just what he deserved.
It takes that low moment for him to realize what he tossed away in the form of Brady. He wants to change, to be worthy of the man and to try to love him the way he deserves.
Brady actually meets him on his release day, having never communicated to him through the whole sentence. It is to Mike’s credit that he is now aware enough, or cares enough, to notice the changes in Brady, such as how guarded Brady’s eyes had become from the open book they once were, shielding himself from Mike hurting him. The story is very short, so a reconnection and a beginning of what could be and what should have been to begin with.
