Concepts of Physics 1

Rate this book
From the foreward of this 462 page "Dr. Verma's book has been divided into two parts because of the size of the manuscript. It is a totally different attempt to teach physics, and it will be extremely useful to the undergraduate students. The exposition of each concept is extremely lucid. In carefully formatted chapters, besides problems and short questions, a number of objective questions have also been included. This book can certainly be extremely useful not only as a textbook, but also for preparation of various competitive examinations." Y. R. Waghmare, Professor of Physics, IIT Kanpur

H.C. Verma, in India, is known as a superstar of Physic. His books are read widely for the competitive exams IIT JEE. Recently, he got retired from his job at IIT. Physics is incomplete without his books.

This book is so unlike other physics texts out there... Other textbooks would focus on making you work hard and practice, whereas this book would make you think, and increase your curiosity to the level when you would want to solve stuff by yourself to know the answer.

I love the "Questions for short answer" part of this textbook btw... If someone loves physics, he would inevitably love this section.

The only book I have time to hang out with these days is H.C. Verma’s Concepts of Physics. I just hope my brain doesn’t go on strike after 4-5 months of endless 'solve this, prove that.' At this rate, I might start seeing free-body diagrams in my coffee foam and have Newton appear in my dreams, shaking his head in disappointment.
PRAY FOR ME GUYSS..🙂

Good book for the starters but I think the theory given in this book is not sufficient. One can consult with Arihant's physics books before starting the problems. The problems will help you to build up your basic concepts. After solving this book yourself, you are ready to go to solve the I.E. Irodov.

In my high school days it was the best books for learning Physics. Oh, what fun we had together. Right from theory to the numerical assignments, the book makes you think! The assignments are designed in such a way that each one of them tests how well you have understood the subject matter. Once you have gone through the chapters and solved all the questions at the end of each chapter you would have the concepts flowing in your veins.

I wish I could find similar books for Mathematics and Chemistry also.Alas!

I am still amazed an Indian Professor could write such a book. Hats off!

This guy must be attributed with the title of changing the lives of millions of Indians and ruining lives of million other Indians for he had pushed many non-engineers into IIT-JEE coaching centers - I don't blame him for he has produced a master piece, a work of art to let students pursue sciences.

Concepts of Physics by H.C. Verma: The beast, the bible and the bestie of every Indian student ever so slightly interested in physics.
If you're an Indian student with even a whiff of interest in physics, there's a 99.9% chance someone has shoved a copy of Concepts of Physics into your hands and dramatically declared, “This is all you need.” And hear me out, they are right. Uncle Verma doesn’t just throw formulas at you. He talks to you. His explanations are crisp, intuitive, and sometimes so beautifully simple that you’ll wonder why your school textbooks felt like deciphering the Indus Valley script itself.
My musings about this book:
Concepts of Physics is like that slightly intimidating but brilliant senior who wears nerd glasses, solves Irodov for fun, and has a secret soft side when you actually ask for help. It’s not flashy. It doesn’t try to impress you with colour illustrations or QR codes or whatever NCERT is doing these days. It just… teaches. Deeply, methodically, philosophically and honestly.
My personal verdict:
HCV is awesome. 4.8 out of 5. I reduced 0.2 cuz it made me question my IQ sometimes. But yeah, HCV is great.

One of the most important Book if you arebprepaeing for JEE, NEET. If you want to fall in love with physics, you should definitely buy this without any hesitation. Clear all your misconceptions and confusions from this book and try to solve the objectives and excersizes. It has a smooth slope of difficulty, to easy, to hard.

This is easily the best book to learn elementary concepts in physics. It has the right balance of text and problems. Surprisingly, it isn't math-heavy and can be understood by somebody with a basic understanding of calculus and trigonometry.

One of the best books for any student interested in secondary school physics. Easy to follow the text. Problems at the end of every chapter are laid out very well, they are always really helpful in building over what we learned in the chapters

MUST READ for all science students in high school. It'll build the concept of physics and gives ample of practice questions to strengthen the base. No other book can match this. Read this first and you can then practice more questions from other sources but start with this.

H.C. Verma gives very good explanations to important concepts through simple means.
Although I do feel that the theory part needs to be better, this book is very good for physics and its derivations and the observations one gets when conducting real-word experiments
